Got the herd out to graze and to rearrange for summer use. Yes, they all started and ran to drive into the lineup.

April 23, 1985, The Coca-Cola Company announces that it is changing the formula of its signature soft drink for the first time in 99 years. The short-lived, sweeter New Coke, as it is called, debuts to a consumer backlash that pundits call the marketing blunder of the century. I've got my herd down to just what I need for the things I have to do around here. A tractor for each implement, and still have one just to cruise around on.

Only downsizing I've done is got off the 520H and get on an 856 yesterday, does that count.

Should be the rule of thumb for us all. But one more thing: Don't forget a spare tractor for when another is in the shop! Gotta keep a working floater! ...And one for the wife. ...Oh no I am seeing a pattern here.

Well done. A note to all..... THIS is the proper method to remove the 3" remnant of the 3/4" diameter pin. You press or impact thru the thin side and have the pin exit out the thick half of the casting. Doing it the other way, you run the risk of snapping the boss off the thin housing. Then you just compounded the problem you already were trying to fix with the Unidrive...

Turns out serial 46567 was recorded in the past as a 753.

Mounted the first rear tire just for giggles. The inside of the wheel was primed and painted but still gotta finish the outside. These things are rather knobby! Used a tube just in case. And a boat load of talcum powder. If it pops there will be a white dust cloud. But it really makes the entire process of mounting the tire and tube so much better. Also there is a comparison of front and rear tire size in the last two pics. I really like this set of tires!

And Mama got a new set of tie rod ends. Thanks to @Handy Don, the RM-366 has a new shiny set of deck wheels. The 854 it's mounted under saw a lot of action this winter with the 32" snowblower. I noticed a bit more lost motion in the steering as I was switching it out of it's Winter clothes.- the two inner aftermarket tie rod ends were a mite sloppy - to be expected after 8 years of use. Yet the outers that were installed at the same time were still serviceable..... So all four got replaced.

Got the rear tires today. The tire theme on this one is wide but not too tall. Fronts: 16x8.50-8 Rears: 22x12-12

As for the white it’s most likely marine grade vinyl and should wear and clean easily . The oem seat should have been all black with heat pressed 1” pleats . No wrong choice here but I’d go all black with the logo for what my is worth . My 1057 with original seat . Crazy what a Ai edit can do.

Same here. I picked up my 854 locally where it had sat outside in the elements for over 2 years. The 3 speed was filled to the shifter boot with water. Scored a good deal on a C81 roller that had low hours back in 2014 & the oil in the 8 speed was like new. Soooo........

The transmission is a 'later model' nos 8-speed I acquired from somewhere along the way. The original 3-speed on the 753 was in need of a rebuild at the time, so I thought an 8-speed swap would be pretty cool.

I'm liking the 753 thoughts. I was thinking it was 64 when they switched the front axle but a bit of research showed it was 63 except for the Lawn Ranger and 603. The steering wheel would be flat on a 63 but that doesn't look original.

Today, I had to fix the C-141 as the only original tie rod decided to fall off on a short spin around the driveway. I wasn’t going fast so I found it quick. Luckily, I had a spare and swapped it out in no time so it’s still usable. I took it on a longer further from home ride earlier, and I was relieved it didn’t decide to drop off then.😬

so I took a few days off work to play and work around the house, since it was nice outside today I mowed grass and then had some play time with the recent acquired 418-8. Wow the PO didnt clean it much at all, he kept it under an awning outside so the dirt just built up each season. I took the covers off and the seat pan to try and clean up to see some red paint. I used the purple power stuff letting it soak a min and then used my pump up spray jug to spray off the crud and grease. It really did a decent job cutting a good bit off, then taking a scraper and working the more stubbern stuff and then soap and spray again. Theres a good bit of red paint now to see, but a good bit of corrosion too. Had to cut a couple bolts off removing the tins due to the elements fusing them together. pics are a start and Ill get some after pics in a day or two. I think Ill paint a few of the tins before putting back together but nothing speacial at this point.

I have a set in storage in case I ever get around to painting one of my C tractors. Didn't want to take a chance of him retiring before I got around to it.

I wanted to introduce myself as a Wheel Horse enthusiast, and I also joined in order to keep up with all the maintenance procedures and tips that this forum provides.. Currently. I am focused on getting my 312-8 up & running. I have ordered a throttle to replace the old one and it will come in tomorrow, after that I should be ready to cut grass with it. I am located in SE Wisconsin. Respectfully. Tom

Buy 2 or 3 large YETI 's and stack them in the kitchen with BLOCK ice. Problem solved. Cut's down on the CMP bill as well.

I had a 704 that was pretty sloppy. Built new tie rods that helped, but what really helped was the oversize roll pins in the spindles and fan gear.

I have North of 2500 in a Samsung. (aka samsuck) made Ice for one year just after warranty stopped working, find out they have tons of issues. I have defrost the ice maker once a month to have ice. 5.6K members on facebook with same issue. https://www.facebook.com/groups/280704063879207 A lot of people said not to let them work on the ice maker because the fix causes other issue. I do like an ice maker but the next one is going to be pretty plain. This guy has some good ideas

I've had tubes here that were new and had the rare custom ventilation slit by the valve. I wasn't a fan of that setup so they got returned. I know that's kinda fussy of me.

Thank you!! It used to be my FIL but he sold it to a guy and I just bought it off him yesterday. I had been researching before I bought it but was really struggling to find much. Figured the motor wasn’t original but I knew some came with a B&S so wasn’t sure. Thank you to everyone welcoming me! I’m really excited about this new adventure and everything I’ve got to learn.

Paul - do yourself a favor to avoid frustration. Inflate the tubes to about 5 PSI a few days before you plan to install them. I lay each on a hard flat surface, put either a stout piece of cardboard or plywood on top. And a brick on top of that... Take a tape measure to get a dimension from the top of the board to the hard surface below. Let it sit 2 days and remeasure. Verify they hold air....

Can't say for sure but those look quite a lot like bicycle tire tube installation tools I've seen in the past

There is a plastic cam plate that connects the motion control lever to the Sundstrand transmission motion control. They6 tend to become worn and I would start by looking there.

I must have three hands since just yesterday I cut a new road thru the woods, hauled the rocks and stumps and then graded the highway banks. Hours of use without issue. Now a tiller needs a stick shift since it pushes the tractor.

Hmmmm... I'm going to agree it is of 1964 vintage - most likely started life as a 654. The cambered front axle with tierods, the slotted grille, and the Dial-a-Height lift lever stop all say 1963 or later. @ML3 - excellent work on that 753. Nice upgrade to the HI-LO Unidrive. That makes it take on a whole new personality. Similar to my 854 8 speed. The one they never built, but should have. Nice to see the OE choke & throttle knobs too.

The dash on my 654 in 1st pic. 2nd pic is dash on my 753 The tie rods/steering components (unless replaced/upgraded) appear to be 1963 or later?

I don’t believe any C-1_1’s came with an internal parking brake. To the best of my knowledge that stopped in 1977 with the C-160 and C-120 ? I have all of the 1978-79 C- Series tractors and they all have an external brake. A brake band that goes around a drum.

Like both but that logo will "pop" when you add that seat to the red tractor.

I like the GT1600 for being different but my go to tractors always seem to be the 520. I have an older straight axle that I use for mowing and the 520HC gets plow duty. For the most part all the rest just get driven once in a while just for the fun of it. Once I get a hood on the 416 it may get used more. The Kohler powered rigs start up and run fine but the smoothness of the twins makes me prefer to drive them.

Beautiful day to get a little seat time. 3rd cutting for the season thus far.

Only issue I know of is the guy said sometimes it’s hard to find the gear. Feels like you never found gear but goes back and forth. Is this common?

What did you expect when you ask a bunch of "enablers" like us. The white is sharp for a true trailer queen. But I would have to go wit the black, so I could ride it around the yard for light work just for the seat time.
