My property has oodles of weeds. Personally, so long as it's all the same color when cut the same length, it's good enough for me.

I test solvent cleaners on an inconspicuous spot first. Some brake cleaners will soften and remove some kinds of paint--especially if left to stand, which is an advantage in some situations! 😉

April 14, 1865, Ulysses S. Grant and his wife turn down an invitation to join President and Mrs. Lincoln at Ford’s Theatre to see the comedic play "Our American Cousin." In doing so, he deprives assassin John Wilkes Booth of a second target.

Many years ago, I bought an inexpensive 5x8 trailer. I used it quite a bit until about 15 years ago when it was just sitting. I recently bought a golf cart to bring camping with me, and seemed natural to get the little trailer going again. So it got 2 new tires and rims and today new LED lights and wiring with ground wires running to each light. IMG_1076.mov

I just pulled both heads on mu 520h just so I could inspect and adjust valves. In my case everything thing looked great. I decarbed heads and combustion chambers and put back together. Btw all my valves were on the tight side. Had to replace manifold and cleaned carb also not to bad of a job but I recommend taking all the motor mount bolts out except one so you can turn motor enough to take heat sheilds off easier or pull motor.

I would think they would ride nice too. Those "Off Brand" rims have to go though....

And if there is an old friend that you keep saying you are going to go visit some day, don't wait because you may lose the chance. That has happened both ways for me in the last couple of years. I have had a good visit just before I lost a friend and I have missed the chance and lost a friend just before I went to visit.

Transaxle seal leaks. I attempted to replace it but could not get the hub off. Using a hub puller the hub snapped. I have the replacement seal for it if someone wants this machine. Other than those two things, this thing runs great. Original Kohler Engine**Engine fires right up. New battery, comes with lower deck mower attachment, and snow thrower attachment (this thing absolutely launches snow) Wheel chains as well for winter. I want to have someone who appreciates these take it off my hands, but will be putting to curb soon. FREE!! If no one in the wheel horse community claims this by 5/17/26, it will unfortunately be scrapped. I just dont have the room in garage anymore.

Brake clean in spray cans.... By the case. Also any one of several "color named" cleaners. Purple Power. Incredible Pink. Castrol Super Clean. Simple Green. Generic versions of them too. Also a decent spray engine degreaser can help. Air compressor is also excellent.

I'll have to second that. While a Onan is a fine engine when it runs when it needs refreshing the general consensus here is they are not worth rebuilding. Especially if you have to pay a shop to do it. By the time you are said and done with machine work, parts & what what not you can easily do a repower. Then there is the dreaded valve seat issue and if the tractor was poorly taken care of meaning fins plugged lack of oil changes etc. belt guard not ventilated ... is it worth it? Only if you have a sentimental attachment to it. I would just do a compression check, decarbon & valve adjust and run it.

At my house in western Pennsylvania, I had a neighbor that started telling me how he fed his lawn spring, summer and fall. At one point, I interrupted him and told him that I tend to propagate the native species. We never breeched the subject again. Our homes bordered a native trout stream and my primary concern was with impact. Our yard was full of wild flowers, and dandelions. They mowed just fine. Mine was the only lawn that was green in August.

Much like a garden, friendships need nurturing, attention, and some quality time to thrive. I am at the stage of life where many of my friends have gone home to be with the Lord so the remaining friends are cherished that much more.

I treated mine with weed and feed every spring for many years. Then my well water started to grow some slimy snot.. After about three years of shock treating that only worked for about 3 months, I contacted Penn State and was informed the weed and feed was probably leaching into the well and causing the growth. I stopped the weed and feed and the well has tested good for several years. I have weeds and bare spots, but the water is good.

Kinda kept this project quiet over the winter. Purchased it from @Buckeyes last year. Although I have original 4hp Kohler (w/matching patina) I decided to go with a more unique powerplant. 3hp diesel. Some modification needed to make it all work. Air cleaner wouldn't fit under hood so I had to improvise & use aftermarket. Slight modification to original belt guard mounting to get it to fit. Got original throttle lever to work w/diesel throttle control. Tried to make it look as original/subtle as I could. Usually starts on the 1st pull thanks to decompression lever. Think it will be my cruiser for when I attend shows..... 20260210_130010.mp4

Like Palmolive? Note: substitute Gojo wherever it says Palmolive and imagine that lady’s dipping a Kohler in that bowl of green liquid that’s actually orange, and made to soften greasy engine grime. And it will still make no sense. I’m going to try that Gojo though, I’m thinking that will work great.

I bought this cover in 1989 with a new 312-8. It is pictured on a 420-LSE here. Once in a while they pop up here for sale. High quality cover.

Also Got this for $20, he didn't want to take it home. Can still get some parts. 1955 Companie was out of Massachusetts.

GOJO hand cleaner and a stiff parts cleaning brush works great. It is thick enough to stay where you put it to soften up the thick stuff and being a citrus it is environmentally friendly and won't harm your skin.

That's a new one for me, never knew saws had them. Any pics of how that works and what they look like?
  37. 3 points
Very late to the party, but do your saws have index lines on them? My Huskys have a line that tells me if I cut the mouth here, it’ll fall there. It’s quite helpful.

Always a great feeling. I have a 99 (I think) 312-8 that must be its little bro looks just like yours with them fancy floorboards and such . I didnt relize how much better I liked the 8" front wheels better than the 6" until I got them beside each other. Anyone know what year they went back to the 8" wheels.

Yesterday, I dropped off the Reno Turd at the local auction house. No reserve auction, here we come! If anyone bids on it, I can store it here for a while 🤪 I don’t encourage you to bid, but feel free to follow along! https://bid.repocast.com/lot/1138826/1997-monaco-dynasty-400-diesel-pusher-motorhome?fbclid=IwZnRzaARLYU9leHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZAo2NjI4NTY4Mzc5AAEejx93XHNXdUdw8tov1ej0tac26kk_IiHtA7Ya_5NVvL-yeZG1Uv9ShsOMLVo_aem_rvwJEJmmV2MO-JcToTlo5g

I picked one up at the WHCC show last summer for $50. It hasn't ripped yet, but it is no longer red. In less than 8 months it has faded where the sun hits it. Picture below shows original color and faded area.

I've kept a handful of those stamped bearings just for "get back to the shed" emergencies, but that is all they are good for. If, and only IF your spindles are in good shape then you can use Stens heavy duty bearings (see the pic below) and grease caps. Some folks prefer sealed bearings, I do not. A shot of grease every few months makes a mess but it will make a bearing last for decades. If I have to use sealed bearings, I remove the inner seals and make use of the grease fittings.

Treated the lawn today with Scott’s Max Weed and Feed. Never used Max before but Weed and Weed in the past did pretty well! Used my 1962 Wheel Horse 702 and my Stryker spreader! Took about one hour. 51% chance of rain this evening and 100% in Wednesday! So i took a chsnce by spreading today!

As you can see the bolts holding the transmission halves together are rather far apart and the factory hitch puts all of the weight on the right side. After cracking one case half I won't be adding a lot of weight behind the axle where it can bounce and add dynamic force to the static load.

Been looking on line. I've more likely got a bad wire or a bad sender. There are 3 connections on the PC board that might be loose or dirty, too.
