April 10, 1971, The U.S. table tennis team begins a weeklong visit to the People’s Republic of China (PRC) at the invitation of China’s communist government. The well-publicized trip was part of the PRC’s attempt to build closer diplomatic relations with the United States, and was the beginning of what some pundits in the United States referred to as “ping-pong diplomacy.”

Hey guys, just got home from working out in Indiana… He said he was a member but doesn’t go on here much anymore. It’s so much fun to travel back east and finally get to see another one of these tractors. Isn’t that crazy? I’ve never actually laid eyes on another Wheelhorse other than my own.🤣 The one in the photograph that is parked on the gravel has a diesel engine in it… I think a 10 horse. ..really got me motivated to get cracking on the recently rebuilt Kohler K341 installation. I’ve got another hard week of work and then will finally have some time to get the engine in and get the wiring done. Jason

It's a runner! Wiring isn't 100% done. Going to try to get that finished up tomorrow. It still needs tuning but I may have to do that at Pullstart's.
  12. 3 points
Got any weights? I like weight too! especially in winter. @Pullstart can help if you have an issue lifting them!

Update: I have a chance to bring it home. However, I'll need to rehome it quickly as I don't have room for it and my free time is limited these days. I'll post pictures once it's home.

Is that a gear drive hood stand??? A hydro will not have that tab on the hoodstand that is used by the gear drives to stop the belt. You will never be able engage you belt with that there. THere would not be the long support section below it that is part of the hydro Belt guard i think.

The only possible way a shop could be too big is if you couldn't afford to heat it. Even then, just build a wall and heat part of it. So I guess that means no, it can never be too big.

I do not change attachments any more to much bending reaching lifting etc. So today it was time to swap out the snow horses for the grass horses. Sweepster came down yesterday, no wind, got some the TWP road out of the yard and back on the road also the driveway, have some more to do but too windy today. Storage shed is in the distance up the hill.

Hey fellas, So my work with the helicopter took me out to Indiana doing controlled burning, and I noticed three Wheel Horse Tractor’s at a person’s house along my route to the airport every day… Decided to stop in and met a great guy named Larry Greener, I’m sure a lot of you may know him. He used to have a pretty massive collection of our tractors. It was so nice, he was in the backyard and we just started chatting and he showed me some of his tractors… Including this awesome C160 that had a front end loader. Living out in California, I have never actually seen another Wheel Horse other than my own lol, so it was fun to chat with Larry. It is greening up so beautifully out here in Indiana, absolutely beautiful. I think I’m going to relocate here! All the best Jason

Some pics Angle iron and sq tube 3/4 rod welded to a square plate that you can bolt the caster to. I had pneumatic tires but the kept going flat or ruptured the side walls. Using old deck wheels now. They sink in more when it is soft but at least they hold up. I live on a hill and have near constant breeze my annual sweep the rocks back on to the road should take an hour or so but usual spread over a couple days waiting for the wind to die or be in the right direction even so the thatch it picks up blows all over mostly back on me. It is 48"wide The electric lift is glacially slow

I just used gasket material and some silicone dressing just in case. But a regular fuel pump gasket will work just fine.

Well the fun continues. First we had another flat tire due to the tire have a bad bead and poking a hole in the new tube. So today I got 2 brand new tires and tubes, cleaned the inside of the wheels up with a a wire wheel and solved that issue for now. I also got the new belts and mower deck installed. I sort of rigged it for now. Like I said all I have is my 120 arc welder and limited tools u til I get my shop setup but the grass isn’t waiting. So I sort of patched the shrouds up and this is when I realized I didn’t have a lift rod for the deck. So I used what I had to bandaid that problem. I’m going to have to either may something proper or find an actual part for it. My belt for the drive seems too long. I used the OEM but the adjustment has to be all the out for it to work and that push’s the deck so far back that sometimes it hits the rear wheel. Cant imagine if it has the oem 27” tires on it. But it was mowing pretty good otherwise until the mower died. I hopped off and check under the hood and seen nothing. Standing to the side I started it and it started right up. Hopped back on and hit the pto and as soon as I din that it died. I assumed it was the seat switch and it was. So I need to find a replacement for that but for now it’s bypassed.

You can make your own poor man's tap. Take a 6 inch nipple to the angle grinder and cut some slots length wise on the threads. It will at least clean out some carbon.
  29. 2 points
You should have been soaking it with penetrating oil since you owned it.
  30. 2 points
Several methods none easy. Cut the nipple off 1/2" from the block the nuse the sawsall inside the nipple cut down until you just see the threads showing then collapse it a bit with a hammer and chisel . then it should come out. make sure the exhaust valve is closed and vacuum out the shavings.

I changed the oil and oil filter, and greased all 4 zircs. The recycler deflector had both bottom corners broken off, which sent grass all over the place, so I installed a piece of flooring and metal retainer to block it off. Buying a new deflector and parts for $75+ isn't in my budget at the moment. On a side note, I went down to the local Autozone to buy some sae30 oil. I didn't see any on the shelf so I asked an employee if they had any in the back warehouse. I told him I needed 2 qts. He came back with 2. When they rung it up, it showed it was 1 cent a qt. The manager said it was discontinued and they just wanted to get rid of it. I told them I'd buy whatever they had left. Walked out with 7 qts for 8 cents (sales tax was 1 cent).

Hi all. I bought a '99 Wheelhorse 15-38HXL three years ago. I've been retired now for 3 years. There doesn't appear to be a lot of posts here regarding the unit I have, so maybe I can help others who might also have one.

I’ve been working on the Frankenstein C-141 and getting my tractors ready for spring. Since I installed the engine in it, and it’s also my first and only hydro. I wanted to double check if the belt routing was right. I can put 3 fingers vertically on the upper belt guide between it and the belt before it has noticeable tension. I’m aware it’s disengaged in the photo but I thought the play was excessive. I’ve talked to @ebinmaine but we both agreed checking here about that would be a good idea.TIA

Is yours a sunstrand or an eaton Information like that can help get better responses you indicated it was a frankenstien which means we cannot be sure that the hydro is original or not and makes a difference in the engagement mechanism. .

As Bill states. Those stay on. @cleat 's is a different transmission.
  38. 1 point
@squonk It should be correct. It is an Amazon pulley that is the supposedly correct 5.25 diameter for the hydro transmission. I have a 8 speed engine pulley if needed. The 5.25 diameter was info I got from the forum. The belt seems to fit in the groove fine and hasn’t been popping off like the pulley is too shallow yet. @pfrederi The hood stand is what was on it when I got it. I assume it’s original as it looks like it’s been on there a very long time. Since I brought it back from a dead parts tractor I wasn’t sure what was still there and gone. That’s why I figured I’d check here. @Bar Nuthin Ok, I’ll engage it and see what changes. I might need a belt as it was on it when I got it and seemed in good condition. That’s why I figured I’d check things out before mowing season. It doesn’t seem to slip just bounces and makes noise. @peter lena I greased the idler pulley that’s what spurred me to check the belt routing, the PTO isn’t hooked up to the engine I still need to drill the holes in the engine pulley for the bolts for it. The goal was to get it running and moving for @JCM’s event last September then go back and fix the small stuff later. @953 nut thanks for the pic. I was closer than I thought. Luckily it’s only two guides that have to come off. Thanks for the help!

@MainelyWheelhorse glairing to me ? that flat idler pulley , next to consol , is known for bearing lubrication failure , very easy to change that out , also belt fraying is directly related to , incremental , bearing lubrication failure , causing belts to , bounce . donn,t have a hydro , but if it were me , would be , thinking about calming down those long unsupported areas . added that to all my mower decks , no belt bounce , also lubrication upgrade , problem eliminated . you also have a pto lever , gold mine , for functional improvement , staring right at me , mine was finished with a heim joint lever end swing point , starts at battery tray , lever sloppy start , pete

I was wrong, I thought they were for climbing poles.

How much tension when you engage it is more important but are sure about the belt size???

If a fellow ever does have more barn than he needs. I'll guarantee that there are those (friends and/or family) who are more than willing to fill it.

I use a bunch of different batteries they are all pretty new. The oldest I have is four or five years old. One from Sam’s Club, one from Home Depot, a Deka. I try to cycle them by running the tractor like @953 nut does when I have time. They have been fine so far.

If the engine runs, fire it up and get it hot. Also try tightening too. Once it moves (if it moves) go back and forth tighten loosen with a little more loosen each time.

Low is good, but I've always heard closer to tank, and push not suck. Interested to see what others say.

I do grease them, but the older I get it is getting harder to get on the floor to grease them. I should say It’s harder to get up off the floor.

We had a new children's director join the staff at our church. The previous director always hand washed all of he small toys after the children left for the day, the new director ran them through the kitchen dish washer for the first and last time. Some of the plastic toys looked rather frightening after being sanitized at about 190 degrees and the ones that retained their shape had a good deal of water in them.
