Saturday I got the 416-H ready for mowing duty by installing the 60” deck and Peco vacuum system. I cut real low to vacuum up the small sticks and debris from the winter, then put the C-101 to light duty work spreading lime. Tractor and spreader are both about the same age. The spreader I picked up off an estate I was working on, it was in the basement like new!

To start off I hope everyone had a great Easter with family. As I was getting rid of old In active phone numbers I came across the young mans number who bought the last of many wheel horse items I had left. Including my very first one. My 854 , which I took down and redid all but the engine. There's a old thread on here during that journey. I luved that old machine. Than I got a perfect restored plowblade from Mike / Sqounk. Has anyone seen him or Craig? Anyway, I asked Chris about my old 854. He sold it. And gave me a picture of it. She looks great. I told him.lf his friend ever sells it. I want the first call. I was foolish never to keep it. It straightened me out during my stroke recovery. And got me here. And to 1 PA meet. I met many good folks here. And still enjoy reading on here. Doing some yard clean up with the 520-8…lots of trees and limbs down this winter.

This is how it looked when I finished it. I remember every nut and bolt. And hours sanding, painting, breaks, tires, bearings, everything. Doing it with my sons. Hunting up parts decals etc. They were just kids. But what a joy. Putting it together piece by piece. But most of you here know the same good feeling. I liked that pld seat back I found and put on. The tractor look for me. Lol. But Fulfillment. Glenn

Today for Easter I took the Frankenstein C-141 out in the damp weather up here. The goal was to run it around for a bit and to check if my connections were waterproof. It passed with no issues. It ran like a top too which was an added bonus.

@Ed Kennell The 416 has 6” front wheels allowing it to turn about 95% before rubbing a little. My yard is pretty open so it’s not really an issue. I mow often, the 16hp Onan handles the deck with ease. As far as the lime dust on the C-101, don’t worry Ed as soon as I was done it went up on my lift table for a thorough cleaning. Even got some tire shine on it and vinyl conditioner on the seat!

The snow is over in Indiana, Redbuds and dogwoods are blooming. Going through the mower deck, sanding and painting, replacing the belt, new zerks, stainless fasteners, its really looking good.

And diabetes specialists everywhere celebrated the steady increase in business...

And they are still selling that batch they made 96 years ago. No known difference.

The gangs all here. Both my sons were born this week. Mark April 8th and three years later Mike April 4th. Rained all day so the egg hunts were moved inside. I lost the painted egg contest ...again. Had a Great Day but I'm pooped.

Before my time - It was not legal to sell yellow colored margarine in Wisconsin. All margarine was white when you bought it. This was an attempt to help protect the dairy industry. I was helping my dad clean out a residents once and came upon this dye. I asked what it was for and got the explanation that at one time if you wanted yellow margarine you had to add the color dye to it yourself. Delrich made the process even easier by adding a dye dot right in the package.

Happy Easter Gentlemen! This morning I began the process of figuring out what is leaking on the 312A’s hydro pump. Lot of cleaning ahead of me… I also ordered a new motion control plate as this one is pretty wallowed out.

First mowing this year. Used the 310-8 and Trac Vac to clean up all the winter duff. Did my lawn and all the right o ways around the farm. Then paid a visit to my neighbors green house for flowers.

Yeah, many of those fan gears on Suburbans get stripped teeth from people trying turn it too hard past the mechanical stop position. Not sure why the rest of the components would need to get replaced (if they're not damaged beyond repair) as the only parts you'll find are used anyway. New bushings can be added in all of those pivot points. How about posting some pics of the machine you're starting with?

Decided to take on a little yard work today and bust out both machines. Taking my yard back one gaffucci garden at a time. Then decided to finally make a front hitch using an idea I saw on here of using an old mule drive. What a world of difference.

Should be a fun time then lol I've been looking for an anniversary 314H to use to mow with and finally found one. Guys says it's been sitting in the garage a few years since his grandpa died.

I have had decent succes - and not so decent from various suppliers. Look at the packaging - is the bearing in a sealed bag or pouch in the package - it should be... If you are buying double sealed bearings (most likely), take one out of the wrapper without destroying the wrapper (more to follow). Hold the outer race and gently spin the inner - it should move freely for several revolutions without any hangups or unusual friction. Now side load the inner race and repeat. There should be a bit more resistance, but still consistantly smooth. Any detected issues, bag it back up & return it!! Otherwise, so far so good... The next part is where you own them and cannot return them. As @peter lena has mentioned, pop off both seals, flush out the OE non descript greasy substance with BrakeKleen and allow it to air dry - do not use compressed air. Apply a generous amount of Lucas green X-tra Heavy Duty grease to fill the voids between the individual balls. Pop the seals back on, redo the spin test. All good - now you can install them with confidence. Several years ago, I went to my local TSC store to purchase a pair of mounted front tires on rims. I did the spin test - ALL the wheel bearings felt like they had gone thru a sand storm - I put them back on the shelf & left....

Bell works for me. I don't walk with headphones. I'd rather pay attention to nature around me.

This is on a 702 but should be the same. I may have one if @Easton Rich doesn't. Be a few days before I can look.

You're correct, the upper portion of the handle is different. Here is a pic of the one on my 855 (same as a 605 handle) This is a pic of the one on my 633 (same as your 502 handle) You should be able to use a lever on yours from any 1962 - 1964 model. Incase you did not know. The last number in the model number will indicate the year of the tractor from 1960 - 1967. Your 502 would be a 1962.

Couple pics of the 1974 C160-8 Cinnamon Horse and Mackissic chipper shredder at work today. The one with the tractor was the very beginning of the first pile. The one not showing the tractor is the end of the second pile. I would say a good strong 4+ hours of work today, off n on. Quite a lot of chips produced. Have to be very very careful. The interior hammers will suck in the material at extremely high speed. But the outside blade, you have to push the material into it. It's quite an extreme workout to operate this thing. This pile is about the size of the tractor. Also, Jaxon was here for a visit today. Him & BBT worked hard, and played hard.

I blew some paint on a hood I got from a member here. Original had tree damage. I will shoot the grill satin black when red is good and dry. This was a Toro black stripe hood but will become a burgundy stripe hood. I power washed and serviced the little 36 inch deck. The tractor will go to camp for summer.

Congrats on the 314-H. That is alot of tractor!

Welcome back. Would like to see some pics of your project. I'm in the final stages of restoring a 1961 Suburban 401. Here is a link to the build, maybe you'll pick up an idea or two.

Washed the mud off then remover the tiller from the 312H. Then installed the 48" SD. The electric hoist really makes it easy to pick a deck from the storage skid and roll it in position under the raised tractor.

Kids that work around me go to the fair in the summer specifically for the terrible food. One is a batter fried Twinkie with strawberry compote, ganache, then sprinkled with powdered sugar. Once a year may not kill ya. I still wouldn't. Blech

Where do you find a good mechanic in a bottle? That way I could spend time in the house with my Jeannie in the bottle while the wife is at work.

I don't listen to a thing she says or any of the snake oil deniers. I use Sea Foam and it works. Period

You all have read about our special needs grandson. After waiting 2 1/2 years (if not longer) he received his special needs dog. The problem is that even though he's nearly eight, he functions at a four year old level. So commanding his dog is difficult. His mom is a teacher that works with kids that get kicked out of class so they have special permission to allow the dog to stay in her classroom and he had been a great help settling kids down. The plan is to allow the dog to be with our grandson next year in his classroom. Thursday evening we got a frantic call from our daughter. We immediately went to her house and on the way she called and said "He's dead." What happened was their other dog, which weighs about twice the special needs dog "uppie", as our grandson called him, were playing in the back yard and somehow "uppie's choke chain got tangled in the mouth of their other dog. The result was the special needs dog was strangled while our daughter and our 10 year old granddaughter and 11 year old grandson were trying to untangle the choke chain. A scene and sounds the three of them seem to keep reliving. They were devastated. When we arrived at the house, our granddaughter collapsed running to us. Her knees just buckled under her. Our daughter was holding the dead dog on a divan on their patio. After a while, it was decided it was time to bury the dog under a tree that we planted 18 years ago in memory of our son. We have two other dogs buried under that tree so I was to add this one. Our daughter told our grandson to say goodbye to his "uppie." he gave the animal a hug and a kiss. We wrapped it in a sheet and our grandson watched as we carried it to our vehicle. After I buried the dog, our granddaughter asked to stay with us. She wanted to be close to the deceased dog and she slept with the window shades open so she could look out to see he grave in our back yard. The next morning she was worried about Hudson getting dirty and wet in the ground. I told her that's why we wrapped him in a clean sheet. She seemed to accept that. Yesterday, I took our grandson to lunch and while there he as me "Why my uppie (at) papa's house?" I think he believes his service dog is at my house. He said "My uppie owie and doc doc." His dad explained that the doctor couldn't fix him. This was a freak accident that no one could have predicted. I believe that our grandson doesn't comprehend what has happened and for him life goes on. His folks and siblings are mourning the loss. Service dogs are never left alone, they are always in the company of their humans so the family was quite attached. You just never know what situations we'll have to deal with.

The table is set, the ham is baked (put the 21pounder in at 4 AM). We make the ham and scalloped spuds. The clan (21) bring the rest.

To me any complete looking C-series is worth 150-200 Blown motor or seized tranny still the remain parts cover the cost.

We'll be using it a LOT this year. The last several warm seasons here we've been doing larger projects for other folks. All good. Love helping people. .... but we need to spend this spring summer fall catching up with our own chores. We have a brush pile from the barn build that's been setting mostly untouched for almost 4 years. Several clearing projects and the piles from them. Lots of firewood and that brush. And a couple serious winter storms that knocked trees down. I could easily run this chipper 3 to 5 hours every week and not be done this year.

I have a C-125 that led a hard life previously... it's a good solid tractor. Starts and runs as it should now. $100 is a great price. $250 after the drive costs... still a great price.

Looks like it’s been stored inside. That’s a huge win! Well worth $100, it’s hard to factor drive time in the price. That’s not the seller’s problem, if you know what I mean. The 12 hp and larger frame gets a lot done and not for too much more fuel. I’d say flip that coin and choose whatever lands up.
