She's a roller now, I got the next two days that will be really good for painting so I should get the rest of the parts painted, besides the engine block.

Slowly but surely getting at this. Motor is being real fun since parts are hard to find. Magneto coil was toast so it seemed a Briggs one would work with some slight mods. Fit the laminations pretty well but not much room to route the spark plug lead. Front end apart for deep cleaning and paint rims. Sure is different working on three piece rims.

March 8, 1950, The first Volkswagen Microbus rolls off the lines at a VW plant in West Germany. Production lasted over 60 years, with the van becoming one of the most iconic symbols of the hippie counterculture

Temp rose to 70* and the rain finally stopped. So I got about 3 hours seat time on the 312H rolling the lawn and cleaning out some old bluebird boxes and installing a new one. The Sunday dinner,/meeting was at my Amish neighbors farm today. Looked like about 35 buggys with a steady parade on my road.

Spring has sprung! Had a couple out today for some cleanup. Used the sprayer on the fences with one machine and cleaned up some debris with the the 523H. Lots of seat time!

Hi Don...... I still have the Eddie Murphy Tractor.......My son as Darb can attest to has a match also a 418-A ......Many folks here from Red Square have seen my herd and purchased many things from me through the years ....

Hey Don…sorry that I’m AWOL most of the time lately but I have been quite busy with all the travels. We just returned yesterday from a few weeks of missions work in the Dominican Republic. It was a great working with the youth through several outreaches including a Teen Conference, a Vacation Bible School, and a basketball tournament. Regarding your question…Cindy loves her wheel horse (418-A) and uses it regularly throughout the summers. It works great for the needs at hand including mowing the pasture for her horses, hailing her yard cart to do various yard chores. She told me that she doesn’t know how she got along without it all those years. She is such a sweet lady and I’m glad that the Lord brought along the perfect tractor for her and I got to be part of that process. I’ll try to get a picture of her using it sometime this summer and post it…

Under the floor board there should be a Heim joint. You can unscrew the joint making the rod longer and that should bring the pedal closer to you. It does look like yours is to far forward.

I forget now... was this started before or after The Colossus??? Perhaps @ebinmaine can recall?
  22. 3 points
Me too sir! Definitely got me beat on those fronts and rears. That tractor is a little beast! One thing I have to do is widen a set of standard WH rear wheels. Not gonna go 14 inches wide but at least 9 or 10. At least that is the plan...

Tread or lugs on a new tire do no good if only 70% of them actually come into contact with the surface. When setting up my 416 I was not settling for anything less than a flat contact patch. Makes a world of difference if your tires are hunting for traction and your able to give them all that’s available

Holy smokes!!! It looks like someone rammed into snow banks, etc, (I don’t even wanna know!!). The previous owner of my 00 312-9 bent the plow blade up on either end…. I just didn’t want to know and never asked!! Like @JCM quoted; D8!!! That should say enough!! Ok; im going down a rabbit trail here… i cant stand it when those kids/young adults have Wheelhorses that there running around for a ‘mud mower’!!

That's what happens to a Wheel Horse when you work it like it's a D8 Caterpillar Bulldozer. It will only do so much over time.

A project long time coming. First you must endure a little history. My main man @Rp.wh scored this bounty quite a few years ago now and I (may) have since taken custody. He's pretty much worthless but has this uncanny knack for finding desirable tractors so we keep him around. Since Ryan came from her fruit of the looms Cindaaddyy assumed illegal ownership and pyrated it as her tractor. Yah guess who gets to rehab it tho. Although I had several lucrative offers for it including @Shynon flashing obscene amounts of cash. Since it was so called "marital property" I would just sell my half. I did not cherish the thought of bringing it back to life given the amount of labor & pieces of eight it would take just for a show piece. That did not go over well so after threats with the frying pan AND rolling pin would she not let me sell it so buried back in the corner of the warehouse it went... until now ... after threats of a lashing with the cat-o-nine tails and walking the plank it came in the shop. I been into pirate things lately can you tell?? I have no idea why ... too many episodes of Black Sails me thinks ... but can't wait for @rmaynard 's talk like a Pirate day... Nearest we can figure is it started out life as cable steer. For those not knowing early RJs were built with a cable and spool steering of sorts similar to a short chute snow blower and vintage steam engines that used a chain type steering system. The Ponds quickly realized that there was a better mousetrap and offered a drag link type of steering as a dealer fix for the troublesome cable. This one was converted. There are threads here where guys contemplated, or accomplished, converting back to a cable steer for factory for as factory purposes. This one sat evidently out side for many years and the front end was brown welded solid as well as the cast AL steering wheel wobbled out. I managed to free it up and bush the steering for ease in moving stalls over the years. The before pics. She was highly POed but mostly there. The hood & gas tank was lifted on wood blocks and the hood cut. That will not get repaired as this is a mechanical resto. Adds character is my only offer. Ok 'nuff sitting around in my knickers typeing ... time to get to the shop get the TV out there fired up... Lordy it's great to be retired ...

Oh Lawd no he didn't! Not gonna lie- the 701 just needs the hood, fenders, and beltguard finished and painted. And the fuel pump rebuilt. I've been a bit scared of painting it since I had so much trouble with the V14 paint job. I know I'm gonna have to get another spray gun and practice. And I'm NOT good with sheetmetal repair. I should be able to get back on it in a couple weeks. ...Maybe.

Hopefully soon I will be putting an Eaton1100 in a Bronco14. The linkage is different but not bad. I have it ready to go. Just need to find the time.

Now that is interesting to me, I was not aware that I should drop the tire pressure with beet juice! This likely contributed to my lack of traction in the snow. I have the same tires, I'll reduce them to 5 psi.

On the pricing differences... I meant to update this a couple weeks ago and forgot. Bills Place did get right back to me. They use several mainstream online markets to sell product. As anyone who's ever listed on either - the jungle site - or - the popular auction site - (I do not) can tell you... it's a PITA. All have rules. All have limits. All have different percentages of net and different shipping policies. Bills Place uses a pricing software to help with this. It, like anything, has flaws. My order of preference for online Wheelhorse parts: A#1 ... absolutely @76c12091520h After that I email billsplaceshop.com

One good indicator of condition is the throttle shaft / linkage wear. A lot of play indicates it being on the governor a lot. I just figure start up front where the power is and work back That machine is desirable and will bring a little more. An hour and a half drive is pushing it for me, that is to just look, but it is a hobby. Most tractor people are pretty honest and will hold it.....but always call before you leave I have on a rare occasion someone change the plan.

After studying the situation, I've decided that I only need to replace one board on the hinge side. The sides are actually two boards sistered together. The one the hinges are attached to (which is one of them that I replaced years ago) was the one that insects decided to eat. I had to remove the whole wooden frame as a unit. The three boards in the first picture shows the one I am replacing on the right, the sister that goes behind in the middle and the left is the new board I am working on, It's an seasoned cedar (juniper), straight grained, knot free and hard. The two hinges are backed with metal brackets from the factory. The split in the middle board was filled with epoxy. The second picture shows the new board and it's backer board. I'm free hand routing the new board. I rough cut and held it in place scribing the body metal that wraps around the board. I spent a good deal of time trying to locate the hinges both by clamping the two boards together and aligning the holes used to attach the hinges, drilling pilot holes for the hinges by placing the new board along side of the door and finally measuring the opening. I can's say for sure that ever swung like I hope to make it this time. I've raised the door ~3/16 of an inch hoping it aligns with the striker better. Unfortunately, the door slipped and fell breaking the tear drop tail light lens that are specific to sedan deliveries. Fortunately I have a NOS still in the box in the glovebox for the past 50 years. Things that make you go HMMMMM.

That is exactly it @ineedanother! Thank you! I don’t think we’ve heard from @johnnymag3 in quite a while here? And yes, as I remember that Eddie Murphy tractor is in very good condition. So is @Ike’s 130hr 418. I think there was some movement in the zipper area of my pants when I read 130hrs! I’d like to see more photos of both of them. Maybe someday I can put one of them in with my 400 series?

This evening I worked on adding a back panel to the tank. The model kit I'm using is a "peddle truck". What I'm building is a bulk delivery rig. The back would be entirely different. Peddle trucks have the pump and hose housed at the rear. Think of a home heating oil truck. Bulk tanker would have the outlets for larger hoses only. Usually centered on the bottom. Not always. Many have rear or even front outlets. Think fuel station delivery truck. I've been mulling how to create a rounded look at the rear and haven't come up with a method that's within my current skill set. So, flat backed it is. I traced the tank onto a slab of thin sheet styrene. Glued that on. After that I was ready to attach the second rear section to the rest of the tank. Here's the interior center holder from the kit. The line up of the 3 pieces is absolutely horrible. Not exactly a huge surprise considering the molds were made back in the mid 1960s. Also, two different companies made these kits. Also, I'm doing something they weren't built for. It'll take some serious filler, sanding, patience, repeat... It'll eventually resemble a bunker tank.

I'm thinking distortion of the deck from the heat cycles. I picked up a small set of precision parallel blocks I'm anxious to try out on my Power King when I take it apart.
