8 pointsJust finished this morning's PT, walked three times further than yesterday and will have another "play time" (PT) this afternoon. The recovery center has all kinds of "whack-a-mole" type games that we play while standing as well as great exercise equipment.

7 pointsThe Honda 250 is a ‘91 XR250L. I dropped it off with my old neighbor who’s been tinkering with it. I tried giving it to him, but like Uncle Jim he says no thanks I’m full. He has spark, all the lights work, and is working on making it make noise. He said he wants to get it running, then give it back to me

6 pointsNice too see you back at it Richard, we missed you, praying for your continued recovery!
-
6 pointsIt's amazing how much stuff is cool and good on those finds. Most just don't want to deal with it. Nice to see it go some where instead of being scrapped. Portrait of uncle Jim?

4 pointsGrabbed a few items on a pick yesterday. I was called out to plow, and it turned into a free score! The house was being sold on Friday. If I saw something I wanted, take it. Two loads hauled in the pickup, and one in the trailer. Jada and Mrs. P went picking in the house too. Cool stuff!
-
4 pointsSo you go to the gym and lift weights ... well what good is that on a pick ... I really hate picks like this .... reminds me of picking at plow field sheds and what went in the scrap heap and dumpster... I don't remember that ... i would take it to heck with Sylvia 'sides a project like that don't take up a stall. Prolly not Ollie seeing that iv bottle on it but still worth saving. They are just such cool tractors. I been eyeballing this one on MP but a little $1200 rich for my blood. Surely worth that tho. What's worse is real local to Dan and I.

4 pointsYou mean I can find out the PO that duck taped that throttle cable together?

3 points512 D. This is a tricky one; I've been telling my customers for years that when all of the information was transferred from books to microfiche everything was good. When it got put on computer for the dealers, everything was originally pretty good. Things got really screwed up when it went online. Things got consolidated and many things got deleted or overlooked. This particular item never showed up on the printed PAL attachment and accessory books. It is however on the old microfiche ( please excuse the crappy pictures ) .

3 pointsI am wondering if a 27 inch diameter Tire would even clear the rear foot plate support rod that is on the later tractors. I don't know what year those came out but the 1977 did not have it.

3 pointsIf the rivet nuts come out of the tank and the tank is undamaged, Horror Freight sells a fairly inexpensive kit. Very handy to have for other stuff. https://www.harborfreight.com/10-in-professional-rivet-nut-setter-kit-58078.html

3 pointsYep left side is impossible without removing the oil filter. Can get at better it if you remove the filter mounts down inside the pan stand. They are brass thread serts, I wanna call them, molded into the tank bottom. 5/16 Bolts are fairly short. If you twist it out the tank may leak. Guessing the inserts are knurled to help hold them in. Keep dousing with your favorite juice it and work back and forth may get lucky is all I can suggest. Might help to get at it if you disassemble the wings the tank sets on and remove the fender pan stand. Last one I wrenched on PO never even put them in. I got replacement tanks too Plunge.

3 pointsToo late for a test run tonight, but all back together. This lift has helped so much. I never knew how bad I needed this! It lowered the engine gently down and all I had to do was nudge one way or the other until the engine settled in place. Neither the lift nor myself ever broke a sweat! Every once in a while, I fab up something that works! All too often a given project goes back to the scrap pile.

3 pointsKevin you get that bike going and I think we may need to talk... I'm having visions of it coming back from plow day...

2 pointsRound two of 953 nut’s medical mishaps is almost over. When I was discharged from the hospital a week and a half ago a new medication, Eliquis, was prescribed. We filled the prescription and headed home in anticipation of the impending snow storm. Having just undergone two surgeries I did not go to the shop and bring the 418-C with snow plow up to the house as I normally would have, we would just have to allow the snow to melt. Eliquis is a blood thinner and the entail dosage instructions from the doctor were double the normal dosage for the first five days. On the second day I began to feel a bit weak but didn’t give it much thought. At about 2:00 AM I felt very weak and threw up some BLACK stuff (that is a sign of internal bleeding) but being a MAN I shrugged it off and returned to bed. About 6:00 AM I had my wife call 911. Our steep, unplowed driveway was impassable and the EMTs and paramedics came up on foot lugging all of their equipment. One of the EMTs knew a fellow about a mile away who has a Kubota side-by-side 4 WD with locking differentials who responded to this early morning plea. The Kubota got me down to the ambulance and the took me directly to a medivac helicopter. Twenty minutes later I was at the trauma center and receiving transfusions. The Eliquis had triggered a previously undiagnosed ulcer in my small intestine to bleed. Less than an hour from my arrival at the trauma center I weas on the operating table, the ulcer was being clamped off as even more transfusions were being administered. Further testing revealed the blood vessel to the ulcer was also bleeding and a second procedure stopped that. After an additional week in the hospital I am now in a rehab center to regain some strength and glad to be alive.

2 pointsOk I will try and loosen up the shaft collar. I have gotten everything else off already. I am doing this because the steering is really loose. The bronze bearing is completely shot and needs to be replaced.
-
2 pointsYou won't find many here with that tractor, I did find a bit of information here. That tractor was built in Germany by Gutbrod, and is similar to the 2500S, so maybe look for parts for that model.

2 pointsThe amount of work Brian and his Dad Ken go thru to set up at the show is insane. I always make sure I get something every year. Some of the quality is better than WH or Toro would even think about doing

2 pointsFebruary 10, 1943, Duct tape is born when Vesta Stoudt, a factory worker packing WWII munitions, writes FDR outlining—with drawings—her idea to replace weak paper packing tape with a tougher waterproof cloth version. Impressed, FDR pushed her idea into production.

2 pointsHere's a post from just over 10 years ago. Some good points to ponder. Initially the footrests made me think about an older model that didn't originally have them. Posted July 14, 2015 (edited) I think that it may have been for the European Market. Using the different nomenclature (sandpaper and pin-cotter) is a clue. The footrests could be a different design/angle so that the seat pan could be raised to compensate for the 15" wheels. More Europeans have small gardens than here in the USA. BCS and Grillo still command the two-wheel tractor market there. Edited July 14, 2015 by shallowwatersailor

2 pointsBe very careful if you plan to commit a crime and use duct tape. Duct tape is highly traceable in forensic investigations through DNA, fingerprints, and physical matching of torn edges.
-
2 pointsThat reminds me, the older you get the more important it is to not act your age!!
-
2 pointsClearly the family friendly version... That is a very nice machine. I might have jumped on it had it been closer. A clean 314-H is alot of tractor.
-
2 pointsI can't be 100% certain, but that same oil light setup on a Kohler powered machine grounds out the ignition. This obviously will save the engine should the oil run low. But, I had one tractor that used that system and the oil sensor was going bad. It wouldn't start until it was replaced (or in my case, removed). It was a simple interlock circuit from the coil that was normally open to ground unless the oil was low. Also, the seat switch had to be closed if the PTO was engaged and the clutch pedal had to be depressed to allow it to crank. On the hydro models the left pedal may have to be depressed as well.

1 pointI went through this while restoring my C-175. Finally after soaking it and moving the bolt back and forth slightly for a week or more I got frustrated and yanked on it knowing that I had another tank. The bolt just spun in the tank, so I cut the head off and threw out the tank. I might have been more patient had I not had another tank, but I kept thinking why am I getting so frustrated with this when I should just cut the bolt and move on.

1 pointUnfortunately I won't be going to the big show. I still have to decide what I'm going to do. Obviously it would sell better with a deck or at least a blade or blower. I have a deck I could put on it but I don't really want to. Note my wanted ad for a deck so I can keep the three I have. I know I probably paid too much for it and I'm not going to recoup that but that's fine. Mounting a deck would make it easier to sell, not as much so for you guys as it would for someone who doesn't know these machines inside and out. Sorry @JoeM I didn't mean to hijack your thread.

1 pointDownload this file. In it is simple wiring diagrams for each major circuit including the ignition. Makes it much easier to understand. The yellow wire is powered by two different sources. With the pto on the yellow wire is powered by the seat switch. With the pto off one half of the pto switch powers the yellow wire. The wire colors on the engine side of the 9-pin connector may not be correct. They were supplied by Onan.

1 pointI would think 27” rear tires would hit the fender on a 400 series. At first I thought it might be for a C-195, but they stopped making that tractor in 1984 I believe. Then I saw those clutch spacer things and remembered all Super C’s were automatics. I’m kinda stumped on this one? I’ll definitely be following this thread to see if anyone has the answer. Just thought of this too, I don’t think you could steer with those large front wheels with a 48” mower deck. Changing the tires just to put a deck back on seems like a pain in the neck. I might loose a little sleep over this tonight…………😂

1 pointWorking on getting my modeling desk set up. I got the lighter gray cutting bed/ work surface today. That's 36" wide x 24" deep. There'll be another set of two narrow metal shelves on top of the white pvc shelf. Then another pvc shelf above those. Basically doubling what's on top of the desk surface now. I also have several more organizing tools coming. Paint rack. Parts racks. Cubby hole shelves for small & medium tools. Possibly also a divider tray. The kit on the lower left will be relocated, and the Dremel tool set currently at top right will be on the desk surface off to the side somewhere.
