12 pointsFebruary 1, 2004, “Nipplegate” controversy at the Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show. A singularly sensational event occurs during the halftime show of the Super Bowl. While performing a duet with Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake briefly exposed one of her breasts in what was later described as a "wardrobe malfunction."

10 pointsHolee molee Batman we got a bleeping buch of snow! I haven't seen this much since 1999, when we got over 20 inches. We are now at 10 to 12 inches, and it's still snowing! We usually get wet heavy snow but this stuff is powder. I've never seen that here in NC before. And the first day we are supposed to get above freezing is Tuesday. Even then only about 40 degrees. I hope to get some better pics tomorrow but this was 5 hours ago:

10 pointsWell it finally stopped around 1:30AM. I decided to measure a few spots and it fluctuates between 10 and 13 inches. For central North Carolina, that is huge. As I said before it's been 20+ years since we had snow like this. I'm gonna just have to drag out a tractor or two tomorrow and play in it!

8 pointsThis little saga began in November. I have had hand tremors for several years and started a new prescription to deal with them. In early January I developed shingles and my doctor prescribed two medications; they stopped the shingles in their tracks. A few days later I began having tremors throughout my body, two of the medications were having a battle and neither one could be stopped clod turkey. My doctor developed an accelerated plan to get me off both. They weren’t shown as being incompatible. This resulted in me being sedentary for about three weeks. In all likelihood this resulted in the blood clots forming Monday, January 26. I was feeling good and spent some time exercising. The next morning was normal, then after lunch I experienced a severe pain behind my right ribcage. Paramedics took me to our local hospital and after some imaging I was transferred to the hospital in Asheville, NC, The following morning doctors removed several blood clots from my right lung. One of the clots was six inches long. Further imaging showed no further clots. They also discovered that I had Atrial Fibrillation and stopped then restarted my heart putting it back in normal rhythm. Under normal circumstances I would not have been released the same day but with the impending snow storm they sent me home. Thank God for all of the wonderful medical professionals who cared for me.

8 pointsDrove around in the snow. It'll be gone by Wednesday, so I had to play a little.

8 pointsOne of my faves in the '50s. As kids, we spent 90% of our daylight hours outside. Except on Saturday mornings when The Lone Ranger show was close to coming on the TV when we raced home to watch. I still remember my baby sister that was falling behind in the race home yelling "don't turn it on till I get there cause I don't want to miss it". My gang...where's Eddie?

6 pointsJanuary 28, 1985, Music stars gather to record “We Are the World” The special instruction Quincy Jones sent out to the several dozen pop stars invited to participate in the recording of “We Are the World” was this: “Check your egos at the door.” Jones was the producer of a record that would eventually go on to sell more than 7 million copies and raise more than $60 million for African famine relief. But before “We Are the World” could achieve those feats, it had to be captured on tape—no simple feat considering the number of major recording artists slated to participate. With only one chance to get the recording the way he and songwriters Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie wanted it, Jones convened the marathon recording session of “We Are the World” at around 10 p.m. on the evening of January 28, 1985, immediately following the conclusion of the American Music Awards ceremony held just a few miles away.

6 pointsMy wife came out to the shop to see what I was doing and took a couple of pictures of me on the tractor. Of course no shoes are allowed yet, have to keep it clean. My truck and her Explorer are sitting under cover waiting for spring whenever it finally gets here. Hopefully by mid April.

6 pointsThank You to Everyone. I really found out at this week how blessed we are. From old co-workers, the local community, and the WH guys, just Aces. Butch was a wheel horse guy, (imagine that), a 310-8 magnum (and others ). He had a plow on it and did use it. When I went to his home place to start straightening up, the 310 was in the middle of the garage in a puddle of water, chains on the ground laying in front of it. Later, checking his cameras, I seen him pushing snow and spinning a lot. He got 2/3's of it done with the 310, and good enough. I figured he could not stand it and had to get the shovel out for finishing touches. Like Mike said do what you can and back off when necessary. Good advice. yes

5 pointsGot the 523H out to play in the snow. She kept staring over the fence at the cows... No way my other tractors would have driven so well. Those ATV rear tires and fat floaty fronts did very well in the deeper spots.

5 pointsA couple of times this winter, my 314-8 had acted up. Long cranks before starting, leaning out while running and always intermittently. The day after the last storm, I hopped on and went to clean up the driveway. It wouldn’t throttle up over half without surging. So I parked it a cleaned up the driveway with the bigger tractor. Jumped back on the 314-8 to put it away and it fired up and ran fine. No surging or anything. So I decided to pull the bowl off the carb on Thursday. Drained the bowl into a container and found this nice blob of water in there. Checked fuel pump operation with the bowl off, that was all good. Cleaned out the bowl and put it back together. Changed the fuel lines which were original from 1999, and put a new fuel filter in. All good now!

5 pointsWe dodged the bullet on this one. These storms that come up the coast usually hammer us, but thankfully this one turned right and headed across the pond. We still have the heavy frozen 8inches from last weekends storm with no sign of thawing for 2-3 weeks. I'm sure Phil will grant us six more weeks of winter tomorrow.

5 pointsI use one of these paint can openers with a little extra bend in the blade. as a pry bar. I have my doubts on moving the pulse pump back under the tank. Seems that large increase in the volume of air in that long vacuum line would really reduce the effective range of the pulse. Lowering the pump below the tank will prevent it from losing prime, but it still has to pump a lot of fuel to reach and fill the carb. I would go with the epump for instant startup.

4 pointsI still live by this..."If it is in black & white, I am watching it." Just watched 4 episodes of Super Man this morning, we have them on Saturday also! "Leave it to Beaver" on all week 7 AM to 8 AM. Perry Mason, Mayberry, Have Gun Will Travel, Gun Smoke...no wonder I don't get anything done.

4 pointsCD long. Find a thin long shaft screwdriver. Gently start moving in a corner that you can get the screwdriver in and go all the way around fairly easy done it many times. Maybe put a towel down on the floor because if you can’t catch it when it will land on something soft.. So it won’t dent the cap.Enjoy the project. I personally would put an electric fuel pump on that because of the gas tank being in the rear. My first wheel horse was a 312 A and it had that rear fuel tank. Took forever to get fuel up to the carburetor. Don’t buy the cheap ones spend a few dollars and buy a good one. I think we had a discussion about this already not sure. Have a good day. It looks like you may have a leakey axel seal on the right side by the picture showing the gas tank.

4 pointsSo sorry Joe. Listen to what your body is telling you. 11 yrs. ago I started getting acid reflux after eating out for my wife's birthday. I never get acid reflux so I let it pass. 3 days later I'm at work and start getting it again. Plus I'm really feeling crummy. I had gotten a flu shot the same day I started having issues. I thought I was coming down with the flu. I went home at noon. Had to pick up an item at a friends house. On the way back as I was stopping for an intersection, both of my hands fell off the steering wheel. I managed to drive the remaining half mile home. Told my wife what happened and she called my doctor. He says get to the hospital. One blood test showed a marker for a heart attack. I get shipped to the city for an angioplasty. I had the "Widow Maker LAD blockage and got 2 stents. At work with other guys if I get tired I stop. If any of the young guys say anything I tell them they will most likely be in the same boat someday. I fix stuff with what I know. I tell them push that or turn that. My hero days are behind me.

3 pointsWeekend up date..... Finished the body work on the hood, with all the hand sanding with a block it should be strait as an arrow. Seems the tranny does not need to come apart, I wire wheeled it to strip the paint off. I pulled a 8" plow apart, sandblasted & painted it. Note: I did not blast the polished surface of the share or moldboard. Hard to see all the parts in the pic. Question - Did use a decal on the early 60's implements, if so what did they look like ? Weather permitting I hope to make some paint fly next weekend.

3 pointsHere is for all the toys we had as kids, that we wish we had back again. A Rock & Rye would be nice righ now....OK... I can do that !!!
-
3 pointsOne of my favorite shows when I was a kid. I tried to be extra good one year in hopes to get a Lone Ranger toy. I'm sure that I failed at being good but Santa was still nice enough to leave me something extra special under the tree that year. A Lone ranger & Silver !!! That was not all, you can't have one without the other. Tonto & Scout was included Even a Butch Cavendish and Smoke. Was a great Christmas, must have been better than I thought. Unfortunately I played with those toys a lot and they did not survive my childhood.
-
3 pointsSure gets my tires clean! Went an tore the back pasture up with the Tacoma. Kids had a blast!

3 pointsWatehed "The man Who Shot Liberty Valence" the other night !! "Stagecoatch" was on a few nights ago. Can't tell you what happens if a black & white submarine movie comes on.

3 pointsWH wanted you to go slower in reverse. Assuming your neutral adjustment is correct (she does not run away when you have the motion control in the center.) and your plastic slider is in good shape slower reverse is normal. One issue I have is i get the neutral adjustment set in October...but when it gets down to the single digits she will creep...

3 pointsI know a lot of guy want to keep things "original" but if it was mine, I would chop the wires out of the block and get individual weatherproof fuse holders. I went a step further on the 520 I had. I got some 4 wire flat trailer wires with a long pigtail and moved everything including chopping out that crappy 9 pin Molex connector to the opposite side of the tractor to get it away from the exhaust heat. I used electrical wire markers and 2 trailer plug sets. I marked one plug "A" and the other "B" and documented which electrical circuit was in each plug and what color the wire was. This maintained the ability to disconnect the engine side of the harness.

3 pointsIs it the same as walking around with your zipper down? Happens here a lot!

3 pointsI am one of those old souls trapped in a young body, I really enjoyed a lot of the old shows including the Lone Ranger and Tonto.
-
3 pointsWhile we are on the fuel subject ...again, I would remove the tank shut off valve and remove the screen or replace it with a new on with no screen. Of course flush out the tank first and reassemble with a new rubber grommet. Then I install a fuel filter between the tank and the fuel pump to protect the pump and another filter near the carb. to pick up any bits of debris from inside the lines. I like belts and suspenders and the epumps have no problem pumping a good fuel supply thru multiple filters. Best to keep any pump as low as possible below the supply. The epumps have a short life when pumping air. Keep the tank full. If you do run out of fuel, turn the pump off ASAP.

3 pointsJust thunking out loud Jim. I'm not sure it would really be any more work though. Just running a vac line instead of wires. I never even thought about it until this thread. I just wondered if the pulse would be strong enough. Most likely I'll stick with the lectric cuz I like wiring. I was kinda thinking that way too Ed.

That's what glasses and magnifiers are for young man. I have to use reading glasses for anything close. I definitely am overdue for an eye 👁 doc visit but haven't had a serious need for normal life reasons. For this hobby..... I may find the time.
