Dog and I hopped in the truck and took a little 700 mile jaunt to our Mo. location. Highlights along the way: Saw 2 white tail deer running along the edge of the woods next to the freeway just west of Lowell, Mi. Saw a flock of wild turkeys off in a field in northern Indiana. Saw a jack knifed westbound semi on the eastbound median shoulder with 2 heavy duty tow trucks working to get it loose Danced with the truck on ice a couple times on Michigan 6, just south of Grand Rapids - kind of in @Pullstart neighborhood. One of those dances was at 20mph - was really slick. No, I don't have 4 wheel drive - all those folks were in the fast lane flying by me. Was kind of hoping to see one of them get out of shape. Saw the aftermath of 2 rollover accidents - ice related. Pretty sure both were 4 wheel drive - didn't seem to help them. Remember folks, once a vehicle completely looses traction, physics takes over. You wiil move pretty much in a straight line from where you got loose. The faster you are going, the deeper into the puckerbrush you will end up. If there is a hill or birm involved, like both accidents I saw, rollovers can result. Bucked a headwind most of the 700 miles. That and the cold produced lousy gas mileage. Saw a guy who was flying along passing people on the right get pulled over by a State Policeman just west of St Louis. I smiled at that one. Enjoyed temperatures ranging from 9 to 20 degrees F. All in all, i'm happy to have arrived here safely.

January 18, 2009, marks the final day of a week-long auction in which auto giant General Motors (GM) sells off historic cars from its Heritage Collection. GM sold around 200 vehicles at the Scottsdale, Arizona, auction, including a 1996 Buick Blackhawk concept car for $522,500, a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL-1 COPO Coupe for $319,000 and a 1959 Chevrolet Corvette convertible for $220,000. Other items included a 1998 Cadillac Brougham, which was built for the pope. (That vehicle was blessed by the pope but never used because of safety issues; it sold for more than $57,000.) Most were preproduction, development, concept or prototype cars. The vehicles came from GM’s Heritage Center, an 81,000 square foot facility in Sterling, Michigan, that houses hundreds of cars and trucks from GM’s past, along with documents chronicling the company’s history and other artifacts and “automobilia.”

I put a winch on the dedicated snow machine. I hurt for 2 days anymore using the manual lift. I do about 3/8 mile of drives.

Plastic scraper, flat blade screwdriver (being careful to not take the paint off), rags and elbow grease. No cleaning chemicals or even water. This spring I’ll remove the fender and guards and all and it’s get a proper pressure washing.

So you basically removed all that paint protector! LOL Amazing how deep that stuff was. And BTW you missed a spot!

I decided to add shallow grooves on the steering shaft to retain grease under the welded-on gear. The coiled pin in the steering wheel did not want to budge, so I had to leave the upper end assembled. I had to do some creative fixturing but added five equally spaced shallow (.030 deep) grooves inline with the root of every other tooth of the gear using a ball endmill.

I got to take a ride in the Buick Blackhawk when it was new and being toured about. I was at the GS Nationals held at Beech Bend Motorsports Park with a couple of friends. One of them was an engineer for Buick that was involved with the GS program pretty much since it started in the early 60's. He knew the guy who was responsible for driving the truck carrying the Blackhawk from show to show and taking care of the Blackhawk while it was being shown. We happened to be talking to him just before the Blackhawk was scheduled to be paraded down the drag strip. The call came, he said hop in, let's go. So we did. As we were pulling into the staging lanes, we tried to convince him that he should do a burnout at the starting line. He said "nope, I can't. Not my car, and I like this job too much." Only did a 1/4 mile cruise, not a hard run.

We got about 6" of the wet stuff that got me 4 hours of seat time on the 312H. Seven driveways and 3 gallon of fuel later.

I have went to these after a complete fuel system cleaning (carb, tank, new lines and rebuilt/cleaned fuel pump). 70 micron filtration. I like that they are transparent, no media to break down and like the looks of them also, but that's just personal preference.

Wanted to clean the new to me C-145auto but the garage was 28 degrees and it was even colder outside. So just a scraping, shop-vac and rag cleaning today. Also installed a belt engage/disengage lever (completely missing!)

Actually @JCM I’m not talking about the Kwik-Way, my bad ! Mine is a Wheel Horse loader which I believe is actually made by Ark. I think I only took it off once before realizing it was easier to leave it on and just get more tractors for different attachments!!

As promised more pictures. You guys are making me feel bad for wanting parts from this tractor Hope the pictures give a better idea of its condition. Been painted a couple times with a brush. Needs all tires and front wheels. The wiring is not great. Hydro pulley is bent and fan blades broken off. Seat latch is gone. The list goes on. All that being said, I'm still not 100% sold on robbing parts from it. I had limited time while both girls were down for naps so I quickly threw a jump pack on it. It would crank over 1 revolution and stop every time I tried. So I helped it along spinning the pulley by hand. It'll crank now but slowly. That's where I stopped as the + post on the s/g started smoking after only cranking a couple times. As mentioned the wiring is sketchy. I found 2 loose connections in the 10min I played with it. When I get some time to sneak away to the barn again I'll go over the wiring and start there. I definitely think it'll be a runner

You might want to add a washer or two behind the castle nut so the cotter pin is fully engaged in the castle nut.

Don't know really ... every so many tanks or gallons? Every oil change? Every Year? Hours on the clock? Might be different between metal and plastic tanks. Dan and I were tooling around at show on Betty and she just quit. Fuel pump? Nope filter was just plugged solid. Never saw one that bad so maybe just change at every show. Betty goes to every show and gets used a lot by the gals. Somebodies gotta go get ice or the flea market she gets hopped on. More hrs on her than all our tractors put together.

They’ll be here for another 18-24 months. Not my property (I have full permission to be on it) so I have no plans to question the logging guys. I do think that the skidder will give us new trails once they are finally done and gone that we’ll just have to clean up some and maintain.

Get it running and driving and the wife is likely to find she likes the 875 more than that green thing.

Careful buying those cheap clear filters at the tables at tractor shows. The media in them has been known to fall apart and ending up in your restored fuel pumps and carbs. Taryl has a good video on the subject

I just buy them in bulk since I only have two tractors... The jungle or pick them them up at shows five for 10. If the tank has crud in it I'll use the bigger ones. Onans get a bigger one too. Always something in clear. Prolly more important to change them regular.

Shortly after I bought my first VCR my cat proved she was not technology challenged. Recording required that two buttons be pressed simultaneously. I came home from work to find the the VCR recording something. She had managed to step on both buttons and recorded daytime soap operas all afternoon.

We have a Cooper's Hawk that shows up frequently in our back yard. It's also not unusual to see Red Tail Hawks and Owls back there. It was surprising to see this Red Tail Hawk doing business in our front yard, though!

Small improvement: I made a very simple 'thrust bearing' for the end of the puller's center bolt. I bored a 5/16"+ hole in the end of the 3/4-16 grade 8 center bolt, squared off the end of the bolt, cut the threads off of a partially-threaded grade 8 5/16 bolt, and added two 5/16 SAE washers. If I wanted to get fancier, I could have cut a groove in the shank of the 5/16 bolt for a small O-ring to retain it in the center bolt, but I figure enough is enough. A dab of grease will hold the 5/16" bolt in the end of the center bolt while the puller is being set up, and a bit of grease or anti-seize or other EP lube (ZX1?) on and between the washers would be a good idea when using the puller.

As the title says, should I for $600? I haven't even spoke to the seller, so I don't know anything about the condition. But, I am intrigued. If anyone else is intrigued, send me a message and if you're near Park Hills, Missouri, maybe it could be yours instead. I'm just not sure if I'm that intrigued to go look at it.

Unfortunately my services were required at work on Saturday so it was kind of an unproductive weekend for me. A big Thank You to @WHX?? for the nice steering wheel. It cleaned up very nicely. I also painted a few small items for the engine today. Fly wheel, governor arm pieces, & little trinkets & doo dad's. I did get side tracked with another project. I'm helping a friend set up his Simple-city with a Magnum 16 Kohler. This was a yank start engine that we converted to electric start. Fits perfectly in the frame. He carved out an adapter that bolts to the flywheel so that the drive shaft can be connected. A few little kinks to work out on this yet but it is coming along well.

They are limited to what they can do but come in handy for many tasks. Not a big deal to install and remove.

I don’t believe it does come with the 2 loader stands. I believe it has the weight box.

Ive plowed 3 times Ed and no problems yet. I just hit the button real quick and it lifts about 3 inches. Which is what my manual lift did. It has the wireless remote. As soon as you let off the button it stops. Fingers crossed.

That fan on the rear don’t look like it’s there for your cooling pleasure… I wonder if it’s a last ditch effort to keep that hydro motor working so-so.

Howd you get that so clean without a pressure washer Sparky? Just the shop vac? Hard to believe. What's your secret?

@JCM also prefer the clear fuel filters , have 2 on each tractor , also on generator , snowblower , one at tank outflow ,another close to carb , years back now , experimented with , fresh hoses , system clean out ,and sta bil in all my fuel , guess what ? never had any more debris in any filter or carb bowls , as stated , love a REPEDITIVE PROBLEM ? its always there , thats your leader to the cure . have also suggested , replacing the frame length fuel line , to a 5/16 " steel brake line ? eliminate all that , possible hose break down , amazed at , not trying anything different , if you paint it red / black it disappears. add an ounce or two , of stabil , and no rubber break down at all , remember I replaced all old hoses , no fuel issues at all . imagine no fuel hose , debris / related , super lubed , hydraulic oil in choke and throttle cables , with spring pull assist , working for years , kinda like mule drive bearings , snowing now , hope my plow blade isn't frozen with rust , or snow slide off issue , clean filters , pete

I use a Briggs filter, P/N 691035. It only has 1/4" hose connections and gives a clean look when installed. I buy them in bulk.

I really don't change fuel filters to often, I try to use good non e fuel and keep my gas clean in the cans etc. Larger Filter WIX 33001 Smaller Filter WIX 33011

Got the lift cut down just a little. Split the top hole, welded it up and drilled another. Only lost about 3/8 length on the bellcrank. Gives 1/4 inch clearance now. Also installed the lower steering and aligned the wheels. Used 2 of the 3 shims underneath to get the best gear mesh. So far so good...

Oh my gosh, blame a poor cat...

Got out this afternoon. There’s a loggging company working the woods so the trails are pretty much ruined and it’s tough to get around, also downed trees and limbs everywhere, but I still enjoy getting out.

Took the C-145 for its first trail ride. Stuck and spinning more than moving along…back to the garage she went. Scored these used rubber tire chains at last summers WH Show and today they paid off! She went pretty much anywhere I wanted to go. Would have been unstoppable if I added wheel weights I bet!

I was thinking that a 'smartwrench' app and attachment for a smartphone might be a good idea, unless the user doesn't take criticism well. (Made today with Photoshop and help from some AI apps.)

I don't have a C-160 but I do have a C-120/180. If I subtract the 20 from the 80 does that make it a C-160.

Actually done this yesterday but forgot to post it. Mounted new Deestones tri rib’s on 73 12hp-8 also new front wheel brgs., made up a short frame snow plow, put snow plow and bracket on 857. Took 1257 home and 857 to Moms and waited on snow that never came.
