Had my driveway repaved, the new driveway was several inches higher than the original so I needed to fill in with some top soil. Brought out the 416H hooked up the 17cu ft trailer and mover 10 yards of top soil and leveled out the driveway. Certainly back breaking work, but for the horse it was effortless. Times like this, wish I had a loader!

Picked up a C-120 auto with a snowplow and wheel weights today. Started to mess with it a bit but going to need some cleaning and a few battery cables and some good needed maintanece. Picked it up from the original owner and they were looking for the manuals and such but couldn’t seem to find them. Everything seems to be there. More to come soon.

We went to Farmer's Fair today. Started out down at the tavern for the local historical re-enactment camp. This one is 1700s era. My son always runs straight to the guy who does the wood cutting demonstration, and he and I got to talking while he was finishing his setup. We talked about wood, saws, youngsters, how it encourages him to see young people raised to be excited about things like old fashioned two-man saws, and of course, Wheel Horses. Found out he has a 310-8 that's still a worker, but the deck is rotting out, so I gave him Brian's @76c12091520h info and told him he should check out the RS forum. My son and I were there talking to him for almost an hour, because apparently young kids don't get excited about sawing wood these days. At the end of it he ended up giving Bruce a 6-foot saw. Said he needed to cull his wood-working inventory some, since he has about 14 of them and only a 10x10 workshop to keep them in, and that he'd rather see a young person excited about old-school stuff have and use it than it just sit in his shop. It's conversations like that that let me know even though my kids are really weird I'm probably raising them right.

Glued one of @rmaynard brake linings on today. Had an extra brake band and drum so didnt even have to take tractor out of line up for drying time .

In the grass mowing world, most machines I rescue, either have an air filter in poor condition or no filter at all. Amazed at how long they run in such a harsh environment. On my machines I spend a little more and like OE or at the min Stens filters. I stay away from the bargains. If a filter is not packaged sealed in plastic I don't buy it. (also good oil filters have a plastic disc cover on the business end or shrunk wrapped) I refrain from blowing out air filters. I learned it can possibly damage the fibers and allow bad air to pass through. Back in the day, we used air filters in dust collection process for underground drilling. Filters had to had an approval and just certain mfg were allowed to have their filters in the system. From time to time the operators would wear dust sample pumps and those were analyzed to see how well the filter system was working. I was lucky enough to visit labs like the one in the video. Both oil and air filter labs. Amazing how some filter salesmen would twist the numbers to make sales. The up and up manufacture would always show you. Donaldson was one of those.

@ClassicTractorProfessor As you said there’s something to be said about watching the sun come up over the water! Here it is coming up over the ocean, yesterday morning. I took this after coffee! My wife and I are still able to go to work from here in about 15 minutes.

Today I visually finished off my Frankenstein tractor. As I said in the updated Frankenstein thread, I bought some decals from Redo Your Horse (Terry) for the C-141 Auto.

It’s an opportunity for them to indulge in even more of their favorite dishes. The origins of this holiday are not entirely clear. Different sources also state it as happening on different dates. Some people, however, believe the Idaho Potato Commission was responsible for founding this day in celebration of mashed potatoes. Whatever the case, the humble yet amazing potato deserves a day to honor its existence. Cultures all over the globe use potatoes as a staple food or a popular accompaniment for other dishes.

Looking thru some old albums and found a couple vintage camping Pics. Jeep Wagoneer pulled the 28' Mobile Traver to Disney World a few times in the '70s. Ford Bronco pulled the Coleman pop up for 30 days in 1989. We camped often on open range BLM land from Montana to Arizona. No reservations, no fees.

I thought I'd show off my other tractor, this is the one I have had alongside my C-100 since 2015 It is a 1978 Westwood Gazelle W11. It has a 11HP Briggs and Stratton, 5 speed gearbox, and is one of the rare first generation of Gazelles (main differences from later ones are flat footrests, and central console gear shift vs the later collumn shift). It always looked a lot like a US Dynamark to me. These were made in England, in Plympton (near Plymouth, Devon). They are quite solid and heavy, this one has sat next to my Wheelhorse in my garage a long time

Come on down to my place Mike. You mow here year round... I have 5. Somehow it always gets in harder to clean places... Plus it provides aromatic reminders with each rotation.

Getting close to the end of mowing season…bummer. But got in some time on the ‘77 B-80/8 speed with a 36”RD today. FYI: I don’t own a dog,, and dog crap is way easier to clean out of a tri-rib tire

I use the foam pre-filters and wash and re-oil them a couple of times in the mowing season. A little maintenance is cheap insurance.

My cold 98F water swim really helps my arthritis.

I added a primer bulb to my C81 to aid in starting when the tractor was inactive for a few weeks. I got a tad creative to mount in below the tank, as I have seen too many sketchy applications where it was hanging out near the left pedal just waiting to get snagged on something. Made a cradle & spring return pusher activated under the seat - flip up the seat, a couple of pushes, seat back down, start it up....

I had to look that up, and I'm glad I did. Please, no photos.

Different mirrors are definitely something I'm gonna have to invest in before we take our camper anywhere else. We pull it with our 2005 Silverado 2500HD, pulls great but with the stock mirrors you can't see ANYTHING coming up behind you. And backing the trailer in anywhere? FORGET ABOUT IT. Fortunately for us I can order and install factory style tow mirrors, but honestly I've never figured out why GM ever installed so many of these smaller mirrors on the HD trucks in the first place. Looks like a nice unit you have there, and looks like y'all are getting it fixed up to suit your needs quite well. We need to get ours in the shop (after installing new mirrors so I can see to back it in the shop) and do some work to it this winter. Need to replace the toilet, water heater, new flooring, and we have a few modifications we want to do as well to make it more user friendly for us. Main use for us is the week at our local show every year, but I do plan on taking it to the lake on some fishing trips next summer. We are only 20 miles from the lake we fish, but something about waking up and having coffee watching the sun come up over the water is just relaxing.

With my truck still in the body shop because of the deer strike, we needed to take the boat out of the water today, my son’s Jeep to the rescue, it pulled the boat beautifully

I have had them both ways and only seen a difference when the dividers were in place, as far as not wind rowing. I figure the tractor is moving forward and the material wants to go toward the rear Actually not having a gathering effect like the side winders with rear baffles. Marginally effective. Just cut them out. Like Bill shows in his pic. Honestly I never though rear discharge decks cut the nicest anyway. Seems like the grass just doesn't stand up during the cut. To look nice have to cut more often. Just for conversation I included these pics. When I run across odd arrangement I kind of keep track of them this old gilson and exmark had some interesting baffles. gilson exmark Of course me messing around with twin sets of blades (project Norelco) Cut nice and made some mighty fine clippings but sucked up the HP.

If you get fuel pump power from the hourmeter make sure you connect to the + side of the gauge. Some models ground the hourmeter through a pressure switch. Not running = no oil pressure = no hours added the the gauge. You can connect to the + side of any gauge. You may be required to stop at the RUN position for a few seconds to build fuel pressure on a START. Most times the gauges are not powered on START.

I have done that too, never won anything but appreciate the WHCC and want to show my appreciation for the show they put on for all of us.

That is why I like electric fuel pumps, they are not connected to the crankcase of the engine with only a thin diaphragm standing between gasoline and your engine's oil. It doesn't matter what type mechanical or vacuum fuel pump you have, if the diaphragm leaks your engine's oil will become diluted and it could be catastrophic. Unless you have a 3 Amp charging system and battery ignition there shouldn't be a problem. Most Wheel Horses have a 15 Amp system and the electric fuel pumps draw about 1 Amp.

I ask a gal that made candles on the side if she could make one that smelled like roast beef and gravy. She just laughed and then said that just might be a best seller!

I agree that it sounds like a fuel system problem. To confirm that I would suggest mounting a temporary tank above the engine so it will gravity feed gas to the carburetor. If it runs well then probably just needs a new fuel hose

Next generation...extend the plunger up to the seat so it squeezes the bulb when you hop on.

Sensor is just sealed with basic tapered pipe threads. You should be able to pull it (after draining the trans fluid) and slean and check it out for cracks or defects in the threads then apply a small amount of thread sealer and re-install. When pulling it, if you notice it seems loose then that is likely reason for it leaking.

That picture was generic from the internet to show the style of disc, but here is the actual one that I have used. I tried every sanding disc and wire wheel I could find and these were the winner. Thank You, I am very particular and passionate about my collection and study the history of them to share with others. I was very surprised both times when my number was called, I don’t normally win anything. I also won this C85 in ‘21 with the snow blower. I was buying tickets just because there isn’t a admission or parking fee. Yes, the ZZ is 6hp on the’41 B. The Z/ZZ model was a very popular engine for the Military.

Yeah, that would make an excellent tractor to show at engine shows. Nice to see that RJ tractor went to an avid collector and RS member. (Someone that can actually appreciate what it is.) I'm usually packing up during the raffle on Saturdays so I only know of a couple of winners over the many years I've been going there. The very first BS i went to,@stevasaurus came driving up with a the biggest hugest smile on his face. Think it was Steve's first show as well and he won the raffle tractor. I can't remember the year that was. Are those Speedex 6hp engines a Briggs ZZ engine? Looks very similar to a ZZ i have that's 1945 military generator engine.

All my tractors that have the fuel tank under the seat have a squeeze bulb to prime the fuel pump. If the fuel pumps show any sign of failing I replace the pump and primer bulb with an e pump.

Greatly appreciated! Still gotta fab up some rear hitch parts, but so far it is really growing on me. Tried out the suitcase weights...

Today I did something I’ve been meaning to do for years. Take the transmission and hydraulic system out of this 416-H. I took out the wiring harness and might save the spindles and steering wheel. This tractor was given to me and was already in rough condition. I lent it to a buddy to use around his farm. He is not known for taking good care of his equipment, so that’s why I let him use this particular tractor. Well after a few years of use he called me and said it’s making a funny noise. I went there and listened to it, it was knocking like crazy. Checking the oil I found none on the stick. I was not surprised or mad because I knew this could happen with this guy. Luckily the transmission oil was full so I drove it around and it worked fine. I brought it back home a few months later and it sat in my back yard for a few more years. So I decided today was the day to finally do this and junk the rest. While I was working on it my granddaughter decided that she wanted to clean and work on her tractor too! I was absolutely thrilled to have her in the garage with me! ❤️

I thought that I had hit the jackpot when my S-I-L got a Kubota with a loader. But back in February, my new next-door neighbor moved in. His final trip with his trailer revealed a Kubota with FEL and back-hoe. He said to me "if you ever need to use it, the keys are under the mat", or something like that.

I've had a couple RDs but never modified or rebuilt one. I can see how the three circular baffles are required to discharge the clippings to the rear rather than so the side like on a SD deck. Would it be better to just remove the two triangle shaped cover pieces to eliminate the trap that collects crass and moisture.

The 42" RD decks have been built with several different baffle configurations - including a version with no baffles at all. I think I'd repair back to original. The deck will still cut without those baffles, but might have a different look to the cut and have a different cuttings disbursement pattern.

And if you are mowing over a rough area and bouncing up and down in the seat you don't even need a fuel pump, it would be but-bump activated.

Loaders are great! But remember your own muscle structure is "use it or lose it" Great exercise!

Well like most of you guys I have some free time. I am sorting WheelHorse parts. Trying, trying really hard to clean up my garage. Lol anyone need parts??
