Neighborhood mowing entrepreneurs. They have a couple old riders to mow, push mower, & leaf blowers. They have about 20 accts in neighborhood. They stopped by to see if I could fix the trailer tire. Sometimes I fix their equipment for them. Glad to help them out. Besides the kids in neighborhood nicknamed me "tractor guy" Dont know how I got that name! Their trailer kinda raggedy. I had a trailer I only used 1x & didn't need so I gave it to them. They were so appreciative.

While I had this blade here I made templates to replicate it using two 42” Craftsman snow blades. The snow blades were cut to height and welded together with both backing plates. Everything else was made with heavier material. When finished it was put on the back of my 1277.

Just a thought for the mods... @Sparky @nylyon Maybe a "Free" section in classifieds that would facilitate keeping those low value parts in circulation? They ain't making decks, etc. anymore and perhaps another collector would like to have them... if they sit there a week or three with no takers, then make the scrap run...

Owner of the local mower shop dropped off a Brinly box blade for me to redo. He didn’t have time to mess with it. He got it for nothing during a pickup/delivery. The P.O. had left it sitting out on its back. The blade was corroded and the pivot pin was froze up. A lot of liquid wrench and a BFH finally disassembled everything.Got it cleaned and repainted . This going to his 14 year old son to use so I wouldn’t charge him anything. He gives me a break at his shop so it’s payback.

After years of collecting and saving tractor stuff, it was time for another junk run. I have sent of a couple loads in the past but now it is time to finish up. I had 2200 on this load and need to at least haul one more. Scrap here was $6 a hundred. Hard to get rid of WH stuff but after scouting around at this years show, the prices seemed to be rock bottom.

Had a set of 3.50 x 8 tri-rib tires put on s set of old RJ wheels i had. These 3.50 c 8’s look better on RJs than the 4.50s. Also cleaned and painted a front tire i am trying to save from the 1958 RJ i bought last week. It had a tube filled with calcium chloride as both fronts were original tires and wheels from the factory 67 years ago. The tube valve was damaged and leaking and the wheel had two large rust holes do i had to try snd save the tire! The tire is saved and i have another wheel to use! i put a temporary replacement on hhe rj to facilitate working on the tractor!

@JoeM if your not part of the solution, your part of "my " problem. Guys like you take it to the scrap yard for $6 a hundred. Then I take my little 300 lb pile right before lunch and get $18. My scrapyard lets us walk the pile over lunch and pay 1-1/2 to 2 x what their buying it for. So now I'm digging into my tractor funds for all the neat stuff I find off the pile. My wife even knows I'm coming home with more that I took. It's a no-win game!

Next thing will be to redo a snow blade for it.

Started putting the tower together for the parts machine 512H. Really did not want to take it apart but it need rust removed and paint. Pro tip......leave all the bolts loose until all the pieces are in place then tighten.

National Iguana Awareness Day is celebrated every year on September 8. The day is observed as the perfect chance to learn more about the good keeping of your pet iguana. You can learn tips on how to keep your iguana friendly and healthy, and even master a few grooming tricks to make it look dashing. Iguanas make for great pets for those who are cramped for space or don’t want to spend a lot of time looking after a pet. These cold-blooded reptiles can be amazing and affectionate pets for many decades if they are given proper care and attention.

Your choice on screen or no screen, but I prefer no screen. I like the filter in the line where I can see it. I find many of the in tank screens clogged.

Tires are only part of what is needed to plow snow... A lot of us, like me, have dedicated winter and summer use tires mounted on their own rims. My preferred winter tireon my C81 is a turf design, has an inner tube filled with winter windshield fluid, 2 link chains and cast iron wheel weights. A similar but narrower setup on the 854.

No shame in that..reinvesting the $$ in more tractor stuff I hope

Have you jacked it up and spun the back tires by hand. Think a final drive bolt sheared and is dragging. just thinking.

Getting some paint on. 3 coats of paint and 2 of clear. And got my rear tires BKT TR315 in 23x10.5-12 Couldn't wait to compare it to the Deestones will have to compare again when it's on a wheel and inflated. Interestingly the bars are actually a little narrower on the BKT's

When my father bought the tractornew in the mid late 80's he also bought the PTO driven TRAC VAC. Unfortuntlay over 30 years i do not have all the parts to make that work again. I do have the PTO vac, but no hoses, trailer, canopy, belts, etc. The reason i really need this cyclone vac and what made me pull the trigger on this one is the hand held hose accesory. My yard has multiples levels, retaining walls and landscaping that i cannot drive my tractor over or near. I am hoping that between my back pack blowe and this cyclone vac I can cut cleanup time in half.

Does it run and drive fine otherwise? Clicking on sharp turns? When OFF does pushing the clutch make a difference? Or brake? Does selecting Hi vs Low change it? Different gears? Have you tried coaxing it with a carrot 🥕?

Thanks you guys for all the well wishes. It's not easy to reach 76 years of age. The past few months have been a test to that. I think staying active is part of it. This site allows me to join with old and new friends by helping those that want to learn, by sharing relationships that are worth a million dollars, and remembering those friends that have passed before us. I treasure every minute that I have been a part of this Web Site and I thank Karl, Sparky and all the members that I have met thought the years. I could write a book with all the pictures and names of the Red Square Herd and the stories and memories that go with it. To those that have joined recently...go to the horse shows in your area and meet the members that you talk with on this site. It is a family and it will enrich your life. Thank you for the Happy Birthday!!!

The 520H runs and drives! The entire motion control system is worn and it's a two hand driver so no video... Seems reasonable. Engine is decent and smooth. Transmission operates correctly. I had the hood off already so I leaned up against a tree. Easily made two nice tire holes in the gravel. Now.... to rip it apart!

Can't speak for the specific brand, but a tractor-mounted vac system is a great addition if you have alot of leaves for sure. I built one for my FIL a few years ago, and he loves it. They are also great if rain puts you behind on mowing and you want to pick up excessive clippings. Now I gotta build one to clean my son's room...

My folks are moving to a smaller home and my dad is unfortunately looking to sell his Wheel Horse. Just starting to do some investigation on his behalf and I found this forum and thought it might be the best place to start. Here's what I know - he picked this up a little over 25 years ago and did some work on it to get it cleaned up and running nice. Currently it only needs a battery as it's been in long term storage. The mowing deck works as far as I know. It's in pretty great shape and he took good care of it. Stored in his shed, covered up with a blanket. We're up in Ontario not far from Owen Sound. Curious as to what he's sitting on, and what would be a fair assessment of it's worth. Thanks in advance! Clint

Notice the counterweight on the aft end of other landing skid to balance the chopper--makes it a lot more predictable to handle. Normally, the “outside” worker stays in their position throughout the flight.

Do consider adding two Heim Ends on the angling rod. Gives smooth action with no play. A bonus if you seperate the frame from the moldboard for storage as I do... Leave the rod end bolted to the quadrant & unscrew the rod. No more fishing the washers & cotter pin.

It has all the stuff that's usually missing. An original Teccy engine That particular debris screen is hard to find and most go missing The steering wheel center cap usually gets popped off from that circle in the wheel going egg shaped from the sun exposure The exhaust support bracket typically goes missing from engine changes It's got the original horse head shape ignition key and the linen beige front wheel caps That seat back rest was a factory option The only thing it seems to be missing is the plastic rectifier cover

Some test driving showed another steering problem on the GT18. The steering could turn sharper to the left than to the right. The tractor has manual steering, and since there was no binding anywhere in the steering linkage, the problem was evidently in the steering gearbox. Apparently, a previous owner or mechanic had incorrectly reassembled the steering gearbox, neglecting to properly index the sector shaft/plate with the sector gear. It took just over an hour to fix, and I didn’t have to remove or open the steering gearbox. Here’s the procedure I used, which should be the same for a 518xi: Aimed the front wheels straight ahead. Disconnected the steering tie rod ends from the sector shaft plate. Removed the securing bolt and washer from the top of the sector shaft. Dropped the sector shaft/plate down and out of the steering gearbox. Centered the sector gear in the gearbox by noting the exact total rotations of the steering wheel from full left stop to full right stop and dividing it in half (marked the steering wheel to get the sector gear center position as accurate as possible). Note: I ignored the position of the spokes on the steering wheel, since the steering wheel shaft’s U-joint connection to the steering gearbox may have been installed wrong (which it was). Reinstalled the sector shaft, making certain that the sector shaft plate was centered while sliding it up into the steering gearbox. Reconnected the steering tie rods. With the front wheels still facing straight ahead, checked the toe-in again, which was OK, and then re-centered the steering wheel by disconnecting the U-joint at the bottom of the steering shaft, centering the steering wheel spokes, and reconnecting the U-joint. The tractor now turns equally sharp to the left or right, tracks straight, and the steering wheel is centered. Job done. Now on to the next tweak, which will involve some transmission control linkage adjustments.

I made one from some scrap. I also added a 2" receiver. Probably should have extended out a few more inches for clearance, but it works great.
