11 pointsIn the last few weeks we keep having what looks like different flocks of Turkeys grazing through the yard. Group sizes 7 to 20. We've been enjoying all the wildlife at our new home in Maine. We've had deer, Bald and Golden Eagles, Herons, and even what looked like an Egret.

7 pointsRight?!?!? The first time Dan plowed with his '68 12 in 2017 it was a real POS. Wires hanging everywhere ... didn't charge ... crap falling off. But he laid the boots to it anyway ... Fact it was so bad he finally parked it. That next winter he did his magic built his own stack ... paint ... working hydraulics ...spit & polish. Even the plow looked like it just came from Brinly. Some where in here there is a thread on it. Brings it to plow day 2018 I says you aint's a gonna stick that in the dirt are ya??? Silly me ... Who's that clown in the back stuck?!?!? That was brutal plowing that year!

6 pointsLooks like I found a Work Horse 1848 less than 2miles from home. Ive seen a couple Wheel Horses/Work Horses in his garage but never anyone outside so I never stopped. Today he was mowing so I pulled in. He was immediately willing to show me his collection & offered up a beer too! He has failing health issues & said he needs to downsize. Carb needs cleaned so he said he will do that & make sure its running good. He's gonna swap mower decks so it will have a rear discharge. Guess its time to look for a 2stage now..... I asked him what he was thinking $$ wise. He said make an offer. I asked if we would be close at $500ish??? He said yes! Lastly, he even insisted on delivering it because he wants to see my collection.

6 pointsAmerica marks National Wildlife Day on September 4. It’s an opportunity for everyone to step back, take a deep breath and think about all that surrounds us. It inspiring to consider preservation and conservation efforts that work to improve the natural world. There remains so much to learn. As Henry David Thoreau once wrote, “In wildness is the preservation of the world.” So let’s take a closer look at this special day. President Ulysses S. Grant signed the law establishing Yellowstone as America's first national park in 1872 making it the first national park in the world. Those of us fortunate enough to live close to the "wildness" that Thoreau wrote about with such startling clarity should use National Wildlife Day as a motivator to get out and about — and to explore the great outdoors. There are more trees on the Earth than there are stars in the Milky Way. Scientists estimate that there are 3 trillion trees on Earth — way more trees, in fact, than there are stars in the Milky Way galaxy. We admire wild creatures and the environments in which they live for a very simple reason: They remind us that each of us is tasked with finding the right balance between ourselves and the world we inhabit. National Wildlife Day reminds us of the alarming numbers of endangered animals and habitats, and it encourages us to advocate for preservation and conservation efforts.

5 pointsWatching despicable me 3 Gru I'm pretty sure is mowing grass with a wheel horse

5 pointsWe covered up the trailer full o' tractors so they'll be happy and dry. Patiently waiting for @JCM and @Raven 's Meet n Greet in N Berwick next weekend. Other fun was drag push pulling shoving the non running 520H from beside the workshop to the interior of it. First we removed the mowing deck. Looks solid. Once in the shop I popped the rear wheel weights off. These were originally marketed by JD and were painted their yellow 🟡 over the original white ⚪️ base color. They're around 50 lbs each and stackable! I have two sets thanks to @Stepney so mebbe I'll do just that.....

5 pointsI had a summer job for a well supply retailer back around 1970. Some customers were still using the BE pounders, like this one, and others had switched to rotaries. One day I got sent to troubleshoot a huge rotary drill. The drill engine was no start. Me, a college kid in a VW bug with a couple boxes of tools, had never worked on anything like this. I could see the skepticism in the customer’s eyes when I pulled up. In about 20 minutes, I traced the problem to incorrect wiring--there was too-small-gauge wire and a fuse in between the ignition switch and the coil. Toasted, of course. Rewired it in about 10 minutes with some heavier wire and new connectors and it ran like a honey. “My boss says, ’No charge', sir” (huge smile lights up customer’s face!). Of course I wrote it up, including photos from my 35mm camera, and my boss billed the drill manufacturer for my time and travel costs. Cool experience.

5 pointsoh no problem... I’ll have @Pullstart convert the chicken tractor or, right after he gets done with colossus, @ebinmaine can make up one that uses a wood stove to generate steam to turn a turbine to generate electricity to run the ... sorry ml3.

5 pointsWe built a house in a waterfowl protected zone in a quiet village in Maine. Every day is an adventure in wildlife observation!

5 pointsAs you can imagine this is a very special day for me to mark. Trina and I met because I was leading hikes and she kept showing up. There is more and more scientific evidence every year that getting out into what's known as a Green Space, even if you're in a city, is great for your mental AND physical well-being. GO OUTSIDE.
-
4 pointsAnd it’s on its way to its new home. I was able to add in a bunch of stuff I was looking to dump anyway so good deal for me, great deal for him.

4 pointsI really enjoy having the wildlife, rabbit, fox, skunk, raccoon, deer, eagles, heron, coyote, bear and songbirds, so close to the house. But after a strong thunderstorm this afternoon, I made my rounds checking for damage and when I leaned over the wood stove to check for water around the flue pipe I just felt I was being watched. I looked down and saw this guy about a foot from my leg. An Eastern rat (black) snake. He was around 4' long. You can see the bulk of his body across the back of the stove and a good foot was down the back side. Not sure why he moved in as the field mice don't come in till October. Well I like mouse eaters, but I knew he needed to be relocated before Mrs. K saw him. I'm not ready to move to the city. I snatched him behind the head and he coiled up around my arm and held on for the trip to the barn where there are some chipmunks to feast on.

4 pointsCleaned up the shop yesterday and rocked out a fuel pump in an equinox. Two sending units? What? Silliness.
-
4 pointsThanks to @ebinmaine got a "new" carb body still needs more cleanup I haven't ran it in the ultrasonic cleaner yet either. The shafts are also still pretty tight.
-
4 pointsGot some sandable primer on the hood. After I get it sanded down and a coat of regular primer it will get painted to cure for a while so it will be ready for decals when I get to that point.

3 points1848 is a great tractor. My late grandfathers fell back into my lap after I was told it had been scrapped. It slings snow with a 2 stage pretty good.

3 pointsBout 3500-3700lbs & yes it rolls really easy. Floor in hangar is smooth cement. 2 people can push it pretty easily. Need to grab front wheel of landing gear with a cradle sliding under tire. No place to "hook" to because landing gear retracts.

3 pointsBald eagles are very common around here but golden, very rare. I'm wondering if what you're seeing is the immature bald? They don't get there trademark head and tail feathers until the Third season.
-
3 pointsJust got approval from city for variance. Plan to stop in next few days to Amish guy building shed & give him deposit. Hopefully by end of the month🤞

2 pointsAgreed. Because I work in the construction industry I've been around a few. You can YELL as loud as you want next to the rig. No sound gets to the next pair of ears.
-
2 pointsThese are 26x12x12 Hercules 8ply Traction Masters, the absolute hardest tires ive ever mounted in my life, if not for having the front loader to force the rims into the tires, then to push the tire down below the bead, there's no way i could have done it. Inflated height us 26", width is 11.5",

2 pointsI might add- one of the best examples of a Raider restoration! I've kept several pics of that tractor for reference. Looks sharp!

2 pointsme We have had some massive rains, and I have also been compacting too, wetting down the deep areas of fill (trenches), etc. We will bring in a gas powered compactor too come Monday, after forms are set.
-
2 pointsHaven’t seen a plate compactor in use yet in any of your vids. I am hoping the excavation contractor is compacting in layers on the backfills. Just running a bobcat back and forth isn’t generally considered adequate compaction of soil.

2 pointsShed is as big as I can go. Structures cannot take up more than 30% of total property square footage. House, garage, she shed & the new shed puts me at 30%. Might be a good thing?? I keep the Cadillac at the hangar already. Guy I share hangar with has a Mustang Shelby. We both agreed to not turn it into a storage/junk area. 1 car & 1 plane for each of us along with our toolboxes. We have had some discussion bout Wheel Horse for a tug to move planes around. I kinda thinking electric??? Don't wanna deal with pull starting, fuel, fumes, etc.
-
2 pointsI did see a young Bald Eagle a couple years ago flying with its mom fishing. This one looked different. I got a good look at the tail feathers and the pattern looked like the pics I saw online. It could have been a Red Shoulder hawk, my Merlin app identified the call near here. The Bald Eagle was chasing it away and they were almost the same size

2 pointsWe live in the woods with the U S Forest Service lands as our back door neighbors so we sometimes don't have to leave the house to enjoy wildlife.

2 pointsI do not know the answer to your request but am sure others will know. You will get better results by starting your own post. A question can become lost in this meandering big post. Click on this link and ask your question. https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/forum/3-wheel-horse-tractors/

2 pointsI imagine that rig is a little noisy next to the house pounding all day.

2 pointsFound it. It's the reel mower not the blower. Too bad the rest of it is missing
-
2 pointsI think you're perspective may change once you get all the tin and engine on it... also, spacer under the seat would work too.
-
2 pointsI put stripes in the dirt too. Picked this spring tooth at a flea market for 10 dolla. Bent the hitch tongue with the heat wrench to get it to trail properly. Works great for keeping a fire lane open.
