10 pointsI bought my first Wheel Horse over forty years ago when I was in high school. I remember going to the dealership, walking around looking at all the Wheel Horses, talking to the owners and the salesman. They had A LOT of them! At one time they were the largest dealer on the east coast according to them. They had a showroom with large plate glass windows like a car dealership, and it was full of new Wheel Horses! I can even remember seeing a 420-LSE in the showroom wishing I could have it, not knowing that one day I’d actually own one. I was addicted to these tractors at an early age. Before the internet I remember thinking that I can’t be the only one who likes these tractors so much and wondered how many other people were out there like me? Then I bought my second one when I was about twenty years old. Shortly after that I inherited two from my step grandfather who introduced me and my dad to the brand. Then came the internet and the Big Show and that really fueled my addiction to these tractors. At that point there was no going back! I started buying more tractors, implements and memorabilia. And then came the game changer, Red Square 🟥 This is when I met all of you nice people. People with so much knowledge about these tractors it’s amazing. It seems that guys have their niche as far as the different eras and wow, they have so much information it’s unbelievable. Never here will you get a snide or condescending response or comment from a question. Folks who are like that are quickly made unwelcome or simply banned. It seems that the people here are all pretty much like minded and truly enjoy keeping their tractors going. I really have made a lot of friends over the years because of these machines and Red Square. Having easy access to other enthusiasts makes it easy for me to want to keep this hobby going. The guys here appreciate the durability and simplicity of WH’s and realize that “They just don’t make em like this anymore!” Anyway, thanks for reading my long winded response. As some of you know I love talking about these tractors and could go on and on!………….

6 pointsIt's barely getting into the 90's so I replaced the worn bearings and leaking seals in the two stage in case the snow is right around the corner. I had some Ace International red that was dark and didn't gloss at all. I went back to Ace and bought more that had the same part number but a bright red cap, it was real close to Toro red and worked well.
-
6 pointsThat's a really good idea. We might not be able to change the world but we can change "our" part of the world.

5 pointsThere's a wealth of knowledge on this site. Not only tractor knowledge but check out other threads such as bumps and bruises, gardening and others. I am amazed at the wide and varied topics and advice given. AND, once you begin to know the guys, you'll be hitting the "" button. It's about as close to sitting around the "liars table" at local restaurant as it gets but with folks from all over our wonderful country

5 pointsContinued with the deep cleaning of the C-85. A few before and after pics:

5 pointsI knew TJ very well back in the day. I know he went to the Big Show back around 2010, 2011, 2012. He also used to frequent Kelly's show near Lansing, Mi in those years. Like Tuna says, he started the "What are you Listening to" thread. He was good people and a Navy Veteran, and he was into Wheel Horse. Rest in Peace Mate !!
-
5 pointsNo way, I'm really sorry to hear this. TJ started the "What Are You Listening To" thread on this forum many years ago, one of my favorite places to visit on any forum anywhere. I can't tell you how many hours I've spent listening to tunes there, both old favorites and new artists I've never even heard of. Thank you Tom, and rest in peace sir. Karl @nylyon will want to know.

5 pointsDid you soak the High Speed Needle and make sure its passages are clean? It is actually a tube with holes at the top, middle, and bottom which determines the amount of fuel by comparing the atmospheric pressure to the pressure in the venturi. If it ain't right the fuel flow won't be either. @ebinmaine did a great job of documenting a proper carburetor rebuild.

5 pointsI cringe nearly every day when I see my neighbor and/or his 13yo hired helper working between 4 or 5 horses hitched to discs, brush hogs, plows, etc. Quite often when they make a 180 turn, the outside horse will step over a trace chain and they have to get betwen the horse and equipment to reset.
-
5 pointsSo he texted me about it and I promptly gorfed about a 1/8" off my thumb after i told him to get stitches & while thinking about his injury. On the seat latch of a 1077 no less. Honorable wounds anyway I told him... Since there was no skin left to superglue I opted for the rag and black tape poultice. Was it @Achto said he was gonna wear bubble wrap for the rest of the day?

5 pointsI thought the bearing grease covered front wheels on my C-85 were a bear to clean…I was WRONG! The grass stains on the rear wheels was so much harder to get off. Eventually using a toothbrush, Simple Green and Dawn dish soap I prevailed!

4 pointsWorld Calligraphy Day is celebrated annually on the second Wednesday of August. This year the day will be celebrated on August 13. This holiday is designed to remind everyone of the importance of handwriting, unjustly forgotten today due to a large amount of digital and printed information. The day was founded by the “Manuscript Pen Company.” On this day they wanted to remind us all that handwriting is a skill, an additional opportunity for us to proclaim to the world the uniqueness of each person’s experience, and that every one of us is special and distinct.

4 pointsOhio has a sales tax holiday and TSC has a sale on heating pellets. The limit is 500.00 So i bought four tons for five hundred and got some rewards points Stacking them in this heat was two tons a day. Not bad from an old guy

4 pointsSobering, but I can fully relate to this, and it’s amazing that this is one of the thoughts that you have when you think it’s the end.

3 pointsI honestly see a lot in common between the Cub forums and Wheel Horse. In general, garden tractor enthusiast are just salt of the earth type people I think.
-
3 pointsThanks again for the warm welcomes. It's the nice thing about sticking to the forums vs using social media. The culture on forums is much more mature, helpful, and knowledgeable. I've heard several people mention the show. Maybe the Raider 10 Revival and I will make it there some day.

3 pointsStart of my idea for a for a headlight. Start of the new hood ornament May not be able to use this carb, ran it in the ultrasonic cleaner for a while. Air cleaner taps are all boogered up. And has cracks in the carb body. The jet tube/seat is also stripped out that along with the corrosion not sure it's coming out. And the bowl has holes haha second bowl I have that has holes.
-
3 pointsToday was paint prep, I primed and smoothed everything i could reach. I also finished up the Air Filter cover. I lucked out with a new Filter instructions sticker that was identical to the old one. It was in the new stickers I got for the M12. Next up, I have a half gallon of Rust Oleum IH Red for it to try out in my new paint gun. What is the setup you paint guys use for a Home Depot Husky gravity feed paint gun, with Rust Oleum IH red implement paint?

3 pointsSo, my fuel pump isn’t working… i am done with fuel pumps! I have facet 60304 1-3psi on my 418. How about a facet 60304 on a 312?

3 pointsCrikey Kev! The bruises take a little longer to fade, the cuts a little longer to heal, the memory forgets we are not as good as we were at 18. I'll still be sticking bits back on and papering over bruises long into my frail dotage. Mick

3 pointsWho knew grass stains were such a great paint preservative?!
-
3 pointsA plus in the video - no Green tractors. Offset by the fact there were no Red ones either. Good stuff. We had something similar back in the early 1990's. We always had local Govermnent run by the Town Council. Then the Charter was rewritten to have a Mayor. The first one spent and embezzeled money like crazy - the town had a huge defecit. The second one was headstrong to turn that around within 2 years. All "non-essential" services were put on hold, including Parks & Recreation. I helped out cutting grass at the town Soccer Field, as did about 10- other folks for one summer...

3 pointsI've repaired a few by vee crinding and welding the cast iron ends back on and then adding a thin steel plate across the top that is drilled and tapped to the center piece with two cap screws and bolted thru the plate, the end pieces, and the frame.

3 pointsQuick tip to fully lubricate your throttle or choke cables. Remove the cable from the engine side. Stick a ¼” vacuum hose over the end of the cable. Using some sort of a syringe which fits on the vacuum line, inject oil or grease into the cable. I used marine gear oil to help with potential water intrusion. Gently squeeze the oil into the cable until it comes out the other end. Work the cable back and forth and viola, cable is fully lubricated.
-
3 pointsTo me it looks like brand new. Someone did a real nice job on keeping it looking good. Hopefully you can do the same.
-
3 pointsIf it’s running with the brake clean, then you have a fuel issue. Since you said that the fuel pump is pumping to the carb AND that the bowl is filling, then I would assume there is a blockage inside of the carb. When you cleaned it, did you run small wire through the passage ways and blow out with compressed air?

3 pointsGlad to hear your alright, other than bumps and bruises. I will side with everyone else when it comes to make this a learning experience. Learn from my misfortunes so you don't have to go through them yourself, it hurts way less that way. Take care and remember, getting old is better than the alternative.
-
3 pointsThere is cleaning the carb, then there is CLEANING the carb, what did you actually do?

3 pointsTrina's 867 Pigpen and my Tecumsehorse are both in the new workshop space for engine swaps. The 867 will be a Kohler 8 HP direct swap. My tractor will be a fair amount more complicated. The OHV160 will be changed to a Briggs Vanguard 20 HP V twin engine.

2 pointsI've definitely hurt myself in similar wound patterns as you did.. but the difference is not all at once and years lol apart haha. Just slow down a bit and and be a little more careful, talking to myself too. Some people just attract accidents and you seem to be one of those people Glad you are ok though!!
-
2 pointsBased upon your posting in bumps and bruises this afternoon, I surely hope you keep this thing tuned up and enough fuel in the tank to get you to the doctor's office!
-
2 pointsYou're still young enough to heal quick. Hopefully this is another life lesson. Not sure how many of them you get in a lifetime.
