6 pointsInsurance Nerd Day is celebrated annually on July 18. What even is an insurance nerd? An insurance nerd is a person who loves working for an insurance company. What about their hobbies? Well, their hobbies may include talking about insurance in their free time, convincing others about how not boring the insurance industry is, reading insurance publications, and posting about insurance on their social media. Nothing but insurance. Do you have friends with hobbies like those mentioned? Then, they are definitely insurance nerds, and today is their day.

4 pointsReally kickin butt Kevin! Keep it up! All I do in the exercise world is ride my bike, unfortunately not regularly enough. But this week I’m on vacation and brought the bike with me so I’ve been out every morning. Very hilly here in Maine where I am, giving my legs a workout like they haven’t seen in a looooong time! My longest ride this week:

4 pointsDepends but on a CH22 Kohler command, yes solenoid should have power any time key is on - It is an anti-afterfire solenoid, it shuts off fuel to the Main jet circuit of the carburetor to help prevent fuel getting through carburetor when engine is shut off (it's that fuel loading with no spark while engine coasts down to a stop that can build up in hot muffler causing backfire) Common sequence when solenoid doesn't operate correctly (or loses power) is, engine will fire up and run a couple seconds then die off like gas was shut off - Some engines (Since they run off idle circuit under governed idle) can be run at DEAD IDLE (That is, throttle all the way to idle and keeping the throttle on carburetor closed up against the idle stop screw) even under a solenoid failure. but once they come off idle, there's simply not enough fuel to run so engine dies out. You want at least a test light to check voltage at the solenoid hot wire on the carburetor while going through start and run, if it loses power (light goes out) at any point, then likely you have a switch or electrical issue. However a test light can give a false positive reading, if battery voltage drops too low at the solenoid (below 9 v) due to poor grounding or bad wiring connection, so a DMM is more useful to check that you have the full 12v (or up to 14.8v when engine's running) at the solenoid. Poor grounds can cause a host of other issues as well, as can corroded, fatigued or loose wiring connections (Not uncommon to have failures at wiring connectors causing elusive "gremlins" in electrical systems that go away or return when harness or connectors are wiggled aggressively) So if you lose voltage, most common issue outside of a failure in the wiring harness, is a bad key switch. (I have had more than a few of those failures)

4 pointsWow. Taking notes of every rep, every day this week, I moved 64,100 lbs in 5 hours of work time. Never would I imagine that, it’s unreal and hard to fathom.

4 pointsSparky the tractor was called up to Active Duty yesterday. The BBT has decided that it should be assigned Mid Mount Grader Blade tasks. We had a short rain storm roll through and caused a ditch. They filled it in.

2 pointsHOW IS THAT EVEN A FLIPPIN QUESTION??!!?? I believe mancode OU.8.12 section Z/28 subsection B17, P51 - INARGUABLY and unequivocally dictates that the boy dude guy MUST appease the girl chick lady when ice cream is discussed. Period.

2 pointsToday I was working away at the C-141 before going to a Celebration of Life for a family friend. Today’s accomplishment was putting the hood on and tweaking the throttle lever. Tomorrow, I’m going to attempt to put some inserts for bolts in the drive belt cover and figure out the exhaust as it hits the hood, then figure out how to mount the new throttle and choke handles. Lots of little things now.

2 pointsGuy I bought my hit/miss engines from has a couple ice cream makers. My girlfriend liked that idea. Guess that means I got the go ahead to buy one???

2 points@Sparky That's definitely true. Modern science is finding out more and more everyday that it really is, use it or lose it. Keep bicycling!

2 pointsUnfortunately the 5.50 width seems to be nonexistent in any style of new tires. Only widths that we seem to have left for 8" rims is 400/4.80 or 6.50.

2 pointsTwo spec numbers show up M12S-471521 M12S-471527 Which do you have? What is your tractor model number and serial number? Transmission drive belt 108501 - (HB/5L x 81.50" or 5/8" x 81.5")

2 pointsMaybe a blown bearing in the bell in the housing??? The easiest fastest way to determine if the issue is at the deck or not is to take the belt off the PTO and engage it.

2 pointsGreat job Eric, I've been gaining weight for 30 plus years. It's been a up and down ride, lose 20lbs then gain 25, losted 50lbs gained 60 back My weight got up to 360lbs November 24, dropped 20ish pounds, got to 344lbs by mid March, gained some back, went to my doc at the VA, my a1c was in the 9s, put me on ozempic, low dose got it down to 5.4,. Talked the pharmacist , trying another medication, appetite suppressant, (don't like taking meds but I got to lose this weight) Anyway, been plugging along and reading this post and I've been trying the fasting thing a little , 15- 20 hours. Seems to be working between the meds and fasting . As of this morning I've lost 81lbs down to 264.4 .plan on another 20- 30lbs. I go to the doctor on Monday, maybe cut back on some of my meds. Any way thanks for this post, and your journey, it helped out. Now if I can just cure my wheel horse addiction. Have a great day.

2 pointsThe safety switches are shutting down the ignition. The PTO switch is connected to the seat switch so the PTO can not be operated without someone sitting in the seat. You will need to diagnose where the problem is in the wiring or a switch. Search the files and download the manual for your tractor and it will have the wiring diagram in it.

2 pointsI'm thinking the Tecumsehorse is a great candidate. That tractor is apparently low hours. The chassis is very tight. Not worn. I've now swapped the OTR Lawn trac 24x12.00-12 tires on to the rear and it has a 5 lug conversion front happening. It also has a splayed forward front axle. That engine runs fine but makes a tick I'm not sure is OK. May be perfectly normal but I'd rather save and shelf it. A nice 20 HP V Twin would be another great addition.

2 pointsToday I had an emergency dental appointment for a tooth that was giving me significant pain for the last 5 days. A bit of a grind on the crown that was put in a few months back plus antibiotic and Advil and I was good. I took the opportunity while I was in town to get a 4 inch steel pipe extension for the C-141 exhaust and two handles for the throttle and brake. After the appointment I’ve been antibioticed and adviled so I figured today was a rest day. I’ll hit it tomorrow morning and see where I get.

1 pointAssuming you were in the seat and the seat switch was engaged, as Wallfish stated might be the problem, it sounds to me like your lift arm became detached from the chain that goes up to the rocker arm, and possibly dropped down to interfere with the turning of the center pulley. I guess if your PTO clutch is good and your belt isn't slipping, that could be enough drag to bog down the engine. Let's see what the experts here say - I'm not one of them
-
1 point300 series tractor should have levers but yes, good info for future searches to the same problem. I'll see if I have an old Magnum carb out there to show the lever difference on the carbs. I might even have a spare lever that came with the replacement carbs

1 pointTo think that was a “cutting edge” music video in 1956. The swaying; the simple dance steps. Talk about low energy!

1 pointFor about a month and a half now I've just been trying to get used to existence as a 20 lb smaller human. You wouldn't think that makes much difference but it really does. Strength and flexibility are better. Ease of movement is better. One of my interesting challenges is reducing the amount of food that I was used to eating. I'm still trying to put more focus on protein and decreasing processed foods. In other news, I've decided that this week begins the next phase of a shrinking, more healthy me. More strict food intake reduction and more strict carb reduction and more strict fasting. I also need to keep moving more and more. I'll be walking up the hill here at home more often. That's a great exercise. From our house to the top and back is right around 2 miles. Also a fair amount of elevation gain so it's a great calorie burn, great cardio, and more importantly building muscle at the same time.

1 pointTook out the five RJ’s for a breather! My twin granddaughters are going to do some riding today! It all started in 1960 when dad bought a 1958 RJ. ! Now I have five great ones - one for each grandkid if they want one! The RJ’s propelled Wheel Horse into the great company that manufactured these garden tractors. 1958/59 RJs had 22 attachments. IMG_0859.mov Wheel Horse made 24,000. Of them and garbed $2.5 million in profit to be able to build a brand new factory on the South Side of South Bend on Ireland Road!

1 pointToday I took apart my original seat, it looked like a pancake so I cleaned all the old stuff out of it and re-stuffed it the best I could. I’m not good with these type of things but it looks ok for what it is.

1 pointAttended the Evansville Indiana Southern Indiana Antique Machinery Club Show this past weekend. This poor 702 was on a trailer for sale the whole weekend. I decided to pull the trigger and use it for my next YouTube series. Hope I can bring it back to life and not get parted out. Haven't really looked at it much as I'm waiting to reveal most of the tractor on the first video. My buddy Zach helped drag it back to the trailer YouTube Short Teaser Video

1 pointToday between hanging out with my nieces and nephews, I got more work done on the Frankenstein C-141. I got the frame ends welded by my father, and assembled the rear end up to the fender mount. I also installed the upper dash and started to figure out how to get the throttle and choke working. All I have to do now is hook up the throttle and choke and change out the fuel pump on the K321 and it may run and move.

1 pointDoing a Full Service after Mowing today. beginning with an Oilchange, after that i cleaned the Carb and Air filter, followed by removing the Deck, cleanout the Deck from last few weeks gunk. at Least sharpened the Blades and give her a complete Regreasing. To stressless remove the Deck i use an Hoist i have mounted in 4 meters height at my Shed. @Ed Kennell did you Spot your Sign?? With that Hoist i can lift the Deck in a comfortable height to work on it. The Rubberband on the left prevents the deck from swinging away while working. Cleaning is done and there is still red paint visible under the gunk. Ok this 2 10 liter Buckets of grass gunk told me - maybe next time earlier doing a Cleanup. Yap i see it too, it needs a new belt because of several cracks. Belt order is placed. i also need 2 of the Deckbelts but i somewhere noticed what Size they must have... - my Problem is now : .... i forgot where i put the note😎 dang ready for the next Task !
