7 pointsSemi-rehabbed a 2 piece seat. Picked it up for $20. going on my 875. Had a set of springs in stock. Gave them a quick flat black paint job. Got the pads off and gave all of the dead stink bugs trapped inside a proper burial into the rectangular dumpster. Pretty hot out with a high DP. Paint was a little slow to dry but my Big A$$ fan helped!

6 pointsI cleaned, lubricated and sharpened/balanced the blades on the 36” RD deck that’s on the 308-8 I bought from @Docwheelhorse Ill do an oil soak and dry once we see the sun again MA. I recently installed the ceiling, mounted electric winch on a trolley system in my garage and that thing has come in handy a few times so far. And like I do with most everything, I just had to weigh the deck

4 pointsI pronounce it the correct way, my 5th grade teacher told us how. She was from the south as I and she was at least 110 years old then in 1962, so I'm sure she was around when the first Pecan tree was planted. Also back in the day a Peecan was something my parents carried in the car for me and my brother when we traveled.

3 pointsWe’re simply nutty over today’s honoree, National Pecan Pie Day on July 12. It’s pretty easy to get behind a day dedicated to one of our favorite desserts. Indeed, 90% of Americans surveyed believe eating a slice of pie is one of life’s simple pleasures, indulging in 186 million commercially sold pies every year! People who prefer pecan pie over the many other types of pies describe themselves as thoughtful and analytical. We’re not sure if this still holds true for those who add ice cream or whipped cream but, nonetheless, it’s time to celebrate the delicious dessert today!

3 pointslooks good. I got the Murphy bed assembeled and attached to the wall today. Just a few little detail type things to do to it. The mattress for it gets delivered Tuesday. Next up on my list is the water pump impeller replacement on the pontoon. We had a brief, but strong storm blow through last Thursday. It left behind a few limbs and lots of sticks and leaves. Have to run the lawn sweep around before I mow. Probably be worth getting the chipper/shredder out to process the storm debris as well.

3 pointsI say pee can and I have picked pecans off the tree in December in Alabama! But my wife Ruth uses Kahlua in her pecan pies and it certainly enhances the flavor!

3 pointsPicked this up today for $300!!! 1989 Town Car w/69k miles. Been in garage almost 30yrs, never driven in winter. Needs minor maint, fluids, tires, & fuel pump. All original rust free paint will buff out & shine when I get done with it. Couldn't believe how rust free underside is too. Interior needs a light cleaning. Old school luxury......I like it

3 pointsThose Wheel Horse decals are photoshopped into the pics. Look at the rope in the second picture. Internet is full of inaccurate and “scam type” pictures and information.

2 pointsHello. Grew up with Wheel Horse and have been fixing up a couple from the 90’s this past year. A 312-8 I was given that I used to mow with for a wile and most recently a 520H that my dad bought new back when. The 520 was a bit of a basket case after a repower and being passed around the family a bit but I have it doing much better now. The 312-8 now has a 20hp Honda engine and is going to plow the drive this winter. The 312 (now a 320) got some fresh paint and both received new decals from redoyourhorse which look great. I started to notice the 8 speeds shifter not feeling right and noticed the whole stick wanting to twist. I have not removed it yet but it appears I have a broken roll pin that holds the donut to the stick. I’m sure I could source a pin but I’m wondering it I could take it out, clean and line it up and weld it in place. Is the donut weldable steel? It looks like it probably is but I don’t have it out yet. Anyone weld one? Not sure if it could be cast or even bronze like a bushing. Seems like a few tack welds would be more solid unless that’s a bad idea for a reason unknown to me.

2 pointsYou may just have a loose dog point allen head screw that locks the shifter in place. Lift the rubber boot and on the front side of the collard on the top of the transmission shifter hole you will see this dog point set screw. It has a jam nut on it, so back that off. Get transmission in netural, then remove shifter and inspect ball and its pin, I 'm betting its OK. Notice the ball has a recessed spot on it. Reinstall shifter and line up recessed spot with dog point screw. Adjust dog point so it lightly grabs ball, but shifter moves with just a little friction. Hold the dog point with the allen wrench and snug up the jam nut to lock it in place.

2 pointsI use the "C" clamp style. Keeps the valve against the seat. Then a dab of grease on the keeper groove of the valve and on the keeper. A pencil magnet and a tiny straight blade screwdriver. I also have the block on the bench and tilted so gravity assists on getting the keeper in place.

2 pointsThis week's project at work. Repairing a tube system blower fault. Defective 4 position board. Tells the computer if the blower for the zone is in pressure or vacuum position or neutral.

2 pointsI don't know if it was an Ohio thing (where I was born and lived for the first 11 years of my life and where my parents were born), but it was always "Pee Can". Back in the early 1980's I was working with some good old boys in the oil fields in Eastern TX, and my one older coworker (who was a really great guy so I didn't mind), when I said "Pee Can", he said "You dang dumb Yankee!! It's 'Puh Cawn'! ". I deferred to him ever since then, although I slip now and then. Since my wife mostly grew up in GA, AL, and WV, she promptly corrects me.

2 pointsI have been talking to Brian at KB about reproducing the Hi Lo fork. It's next on his list. Hopefully it will happen!

2 pointsPuh-CAWN....... Back in the 1970's when we would visit my dad's side of the family in Sherman, NY, my Aunt Julie would always LOVE the big Folgers can full of pecans that my dad would give her. Inevitably, she would say, "Oh, BOY!!!!!! PEE-CANS!!!"

2 pointsSo I put the RJ58 on hold until I can get some parts for it so back to the 704 I got the belt guard done last night and today planning on fixing the fender pan since I can't find one right now and take the transmission apart and replace the bearings

2 pointsThanks, I don't know how many times I have used that diploma on here and you are the first one to notice the typo. I have fixed it! Any day now @Pullstart will have accumulated sufficient credits to earn his "Doctorate of Disaster" so he can publish his "Thesis of Tragedy".

2 pointsRylee’s Screamin’ Jimmy had the valve keeper come loose somehow one time. That’s the way I bought it. I replaced the valve and keepers and was good to gol sometimes you don’t know until you dig in.

2 pointsIDK but......if they did the machines would be way to reliable! My experience with boats over the years is they always need something repaired.

1 pointThanks. Hopefully I can pull it out tomorrow night. I did lift the boot and can see the shifter rotating in the donut so I figured that pin is trashed although it won’t simply pull up out of the donut. Looks like they can be welded so at least I’ll have that option when I get a better look.

1 pointChris. Get yourself a pair of these springs. They can usually be found on E bay. Then you can mount either a 2 piece seat like this: Or mount one of these. I've had this on my C-160 for about 15 yrs. and it shows. Most comfortable tractor seat I ever sat on and it still is. It's day is coming and when it does I'll get another!

1 pointelectric lift makes it effortless, so I love it. I have tilled so far only in 1st low, but as I mentioned, it works beautifully. Didn't even need to add weights or chains (I thought I might need to, but it doesn't push, so far...) I just got that 417-8 locally for relatively cheap complete with tiller and snowplow (now I have 2 plows, so one's up for sale when I get around to posting it) but it was heavily abused, or at least a lot of "cobbling" was done - For example, hacked wiring harness, lift switch was bad, someone put an ammeter in where the voltmeter was and tried to hook it up the same way, and when it popped fuses, they just left it disconnected, no charging, lots of missing hardware and bits &pieces, a really beat up PTO (they had the PTO brake adjusted so tight it was worn away and digging a groove into the PTO pulley) safety switches bypassed, circuit board inoperative (I may get around to fixing that) oil pressure switch wiring mangled, but at this point it runs and works, so the "restoration" work I'll probably do a bit at a time as I come across the miscellaneous pieces I need for it.. MY main goal was to get it so I can use it to till our garden plot , making my 1948 Farmall cub (with plow, sickle bar and disk harrow) a moot point (So I'll probably sell that cub too. It all works and just plowed & disked the garden this spring. Amazing how powerful that little 9 HP Cub is...)
-
1 pointFinally got the correctly sized flywheel (had to re-glue one of the magnets) and got my 3rd horse up and running with working rototiller, finally. Just gave it a tryout in the garden and she works wonderfully! (photo taken after I parked it)

1 pointThis isn't a "what I did with my wheel horse today" post (although I did some trail mowing with my GT-1848 after it cooled down a bit...) Yesterday my wife and I went to our local county fair - lucky for us the fairgrounds is only 4-5 miles away. They were having their tractor pull and we hadn't been there in quite a few years. Turns out the sled for the big tractor pullers didn't make it there in time, so it was only garden tractors. I didn't get pictures of all of them, but I particularly liked this one (it took third in it's class) - "Wicked Horse": It had a V-Twin in it but can't tell what brand or size. They had a lot of mostly big, some small, tractors on display inside a pole barn. Here are a few pics: Thought this ice cream maker was pretty cool:
