Hello there Horse fans!!! Was slowly thinning out a few tractors and dug out great grandpa's C195. Haven't started it in a few years. Motor spun by hand, changed oil, fresh fuel and lit the candles. Runs like I used it yesterday. Ok, fine. But body is getting bad. But mechanically is sound. So, tonight I was gathering all the Auto 18 parts and a tote shifted, fell three feet and crashed into the top of my head. No blood,no foul, but cursing followed. After yelling at everything, I found the NOS rear PTO in that tote. So, I can't find that tractor a new home, great grandpa smacked me in the head somehow and I'm taking it with me. The problem, still runs good, mows and looks cool to me anyway. But, do I repaint or leave it alone? Even if I do the cosmetics, I'm not making it a parade only machine but at the same time, I don't want it to continue to rust away.... All advice, criticism is welcome!! No matter what, it's still family but unclear what I should do. Thank you all for your help!! VID_20250606_130231.mp4

Got the engine finished (static governor set, new carb installed), filled with oil and mounted up. PTO and side steps next on the list. Still trying to make up my mind on wheel color. Kinda on the fence between silver or @Sparky Mike's medium grey...

Fishing for stripers on the Susky River with another 80+ yo friend this morning. Md has a 19-24 inch slot and a 1/day limit. We had to fish hard to get two that were under the 24" limit. Too big throw back. A 22 and 23"er we were able to keep.

So, here's my opinion. If it ain't done right then don't do it. If it's going to be a worker don't do it. If the so called "character" reminds you of your G Grandpa don't do it. If all the mechanicals are good and then you do it, what are are you going to do with it? You could paint it and wipe it with a diaper all day to keep it clean or run it like it is. Seems there's more cons to a paint job than pros IMO. Spray it down with WD-40 and protect what's there so it don't get too much worse. BUT, all of this from a guy that doesn't restore tractors and likes an old tractor to look like an old tractor

Today I broke my own rule. The rule was to not get or be remotely interested in the "riding mower" versions of the Wheel Horse. I've only ever been attracted to the garden tractor variety of the Horse. Well this little one fell into my hands and I figured I'd tinker with it. Had it running within 10 minutes. It needs a new starter solenoid and shutoff valve/grommet on the fuel tank. I putted around the yard checking all the gears and to my surprise it even has an electric pto... ooooo fancy huh ? Model 210-5 with a 30 inch mower deck actually cuts pretty nice. The hub caps are probably worth more than the machine itself. Might have to keep this baby horse around. Our annual tractor party and parade is coming up mid July so this can be an extra seat for whoever wants to go for a ride while we travel the neighborhood. Lots of people come out and wave as they know we do this every year. What makes me smile is the little and big kids too who love to participate .

A willow tree fell down so I started to cut it up. I cut some weeds down with my 953 sickle because the bugs and locusts were attacking me. I really need some 14 inch ags or 15 inch wheels with ags. Those bald snow tires get stuck too often The 953 stalled and the electric fuel pump quit. I took the shifter plate off and tapped it with a socket wrench hammer and it started running so I was able to get it to the garage I guess I should put a new fuel pump on it too.

Man this is going to be a Sweet tractor when you are done!! It's all beefed up and a v-twin engine. If you aren't going to keep it original, this is definitely the way to go.

Donald Duck made his cartoon debut in “The Wise Little Hen” back in the summer of 1934. But he wouldn’t meet Mickey Mouse until his second appearance in “Orphan’s Benefit” later that year. From there, it wasn’t long before Daisy Duck and his nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie were introduced. In spite of their superior diction, they weren’t able to steal the spotlight from Donald. You can’t replace his grumpy, nearly incomprehensible charm, and it’s why the Donald has been in more movies (200+) than any Disney character. So, let’s celebrate on June 9 — National Donald Duck Day! And his accomplishments don’t stop there. He co-hosted the Oscars in 1958 with a little help from Bob Hope, Jack Lemmon, and Jimmy Stewart. Oh, and they named an asteroid after him in 1995. If that doesn’t convince you he’s a force of nature, know that he has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. We’re not sure how he left webbed foot prints in front of the Chinese Theater, but we’ll gladly roll with it. Well, what do you give to a duck that has it all? His own holiday!

I used an electric PTO with an M18 that didn't have the thrust bearings. That could solve the 1" shaft problem too.

UGH, ran it out of gas right in the middle of the Zag show grounds. Of coarse, all of the wonderful "friends" there got their phones out instead of helping! LOL And to add to the insult I almost choked ------ laughing from listening to all of the laughter and ridiculous comments! Got to admit, that was funny!

my 1992 GMC K2500 elsewhere is my daily driver, however I don't drive a lot of miles about two thousand so far this year. One thing I have been doing on my vehicles the past fifteen years or so is using my pump up sprayer and coating the undersides and inside the fenders with Penetrol. Penetrol is used in oil based paint to help it flow smoother and I'm sure the main ingredient is linseed oil. It's been two or three years so today I crawled under and touched up a a few spots.

Wheel Horse front mower carrier. I currently have it hooked up to a 42” RD deck. Works great, it doesn’t have the original rear brackets for the wheels, but the eye bolts work great. Comes with belt and bracket for tractor. $250/BO for the carrier or $325 for both SOLD

Thank you! I hope this will be the beeefiest tractor I have. At least that is the plan. So far as original- what you said could be said for every tractor I have! Try as I might, none of my machines can claim 100% originality. A couple get close, but not all the way.

The problem with larger gauge wheel is you still have to adjust the deck the way WH says its suppose to be. That means even if you put 1" or 2" taller wheels you only going to get maybe 1/4 to a 1/2 inch higher quality cut. These deck were designed to cut up to 3 to 3.5 inches high, any higher the cut starts to deteriorate, that doesn't you can't mess with it and get a higher cut but you but your messing with geometry of the deck. Kind of like putting a lift kit on you truck, if you don't change everything that needs to be changed your messing with the geometry of the design, not necessarily a good thing. Give it a try you may get what your looking for.

I must have some form of obsessive compulsive attention deficit hyperactive disorder. My plan last night was to paint the engine blower cover to match the red paint I'm using, and touch up the valve covers (and adjust the valves), and get the engine back on the tractor. Unfortunately the engine that I was thinking of using is gonna need a complete teardown and cleaning up. Probably new rings as well. That engine came from a friend's stuff and it has water in the heads. So I had another Vanguard that was partially disassembled, so I went through it and built it up. I started last night and before I knew it the bleeping birds were singing this morning. But now I have an engine ready to run. Just needs two quarts of oil and it's ready to go! And my sorry behind is gonna take a nap. I'm too old for this silliness! The pic of the piston below is just to show how clean these engines are. Forgive the sharpie marks I had on it. They originally ran on propane, and they are very clean internally. For now at least!

Today my son's scout troop had their big end of year event. Typically you have to be "registered" with the troop (at least have child abuse clearances on file) to attend any over-night event. The end of year celebration is typically a camp out that goes from Friday night into Sunday afteroon, and is one of two over-night events the fathers can attend and stay over-night. They do skits, activities to showcase the outdoor skills they learned that year, and Saturday night is a camp-fire with the end of year award ceremony where they receive the pins, badges, and other awards they earned since January. The end of year ceremony also involves a "bridging" where Trailmen who are advancing levels do a ceremonial walk across a bridge, and the new troop leadership are announced. Due to issues with boys leaving after the Saturday night ceremony and not having enough hands to break camp efficiently the last two years they changed it up a little. Instead of a camp out, the middle and high school aged trailmen setup and ran a carnival type deal for the younger boys and families, which was also used as a fund-raiser for their big bi-annual trip next summer. This one was very exciting for me, because my son finished all his badge work for this year, bridged to the next level, and received his leveling award for the elementary level, the "Timberline Award". This is not something that one just falls into by showing up, it involves a lot of other work outside regular meetings. From the organization's website: So I am really proud of all that he accomplished this year. Unfortuantely I don't have any good pictures from the ceremony that don't have a bunch of other people's kids in them as well, and I don't want to post their faces since I don't have permission. I just have this one of his back when he accepted his Timberline patch:

Today was our kids fishing derby at our club pond. We put 400 trout in on Tuesday. This morning 37 kids caught about half of them. Most got their five fish limit. A light rain caused a small turnout this year. But the kids can fish all week before it is opened to adults. I fileted most of them to make about $200 for the club.
