21 pointsMany of you will have followed the work I did on Bendy over 10 years ago, it's been to a lot of shows and I've used it a lot for hauling. The last engine was a stop gap K341, and the wiring didn't work compared to the original Magnum - nor did the kill switch, rev counter or choke! A £50 engine came up local to work and I took a gamble, within an hour I knew it was a runner and decided to do the swap, with the UK Wheel Horse meet due, I also decided to finish the front three point that I started 9 years ago!!! All set for the show!

19 pointsI generally don't lurk on market place but saw these and was gonna be in the area for a eye appointment. Eye doc says I got Cadillacs so figured I got money to blow on caddys what the hell. Seller says this was a 1267 but turned out to be a 1067. I educated him on where the tags are. Well used but the better tractor of the two. Said it's got a blown rod. No ventilated block? so will see. Very savable I believe. Sheet metal very strait & pretty much all there. Plan was to drop a rebuilt 12 in it I have on the shelf and it may come to that yet. Hey @Mike'sHorseBarn ... ever tell you they look better in pics??? This one was advertised as a 1277 and it is. Very rough and again what's with the blown rod?? Seller didn't know he bought them both that way. Says he bought this one because it had the "correct" steering wheel... come again?!?!? Missing a few things and when I first looked it over downgraded it to a parts tractor and had no intention of buying. Did I mention @Pullstart is tractor heavy and I already have both models? Actually this one is savable too. Only big thing missing was the belt guard. Rest just cosmetics. Not too worried about the hydro have a few of them. Not even a clue what to do with it. Get it running and move it on?? Parts?? Both had the same RL-426 deck ... condition unknown at this time. Now for the whadda ya gotta have??? This guy was a real nice older gent and was obvious he knew his way around small engines but was way out of his league when it came to horses. He had a price on them but one could tell he was unsure. I educated him. I explained to him the $100 tops principle of non running tractors and that the 1277 wasn't worth much more than scrap. Blocks could be ventilated ... cams busted... hydros not being able to be tested...one just does not know without exploratory surgery or a running motor. By the way if you are a seller never ever ever let it out you just want them gone. I am always prepared to leave with an empty trailer if things weren't meant to be but I never left a gal standing at the alter so I offered scrap price on both and he jumped on it! Both had their original never been used cigar lighters! Moral of the story here is at least you saved them from being turned into toasters.

10 pointsIt was that time of year when out local club has it show and pulls. It’s always nice catching up with friends and spending time with the family. There was a good heard of horses with Rick and Chuck’s. I believe altogether we had 14-15.
-
9 pointsThe one that got away... Seller had this beaut too. Now I'm not in the market for a late model but find a nice deck for this one and would be awesome. Well taken care of & resonable priced to boot. My problem is when I see these is I want to turn it into a plow mule! I haven't run the numbers on it yet, late 90s? Not a good pic... shouldn't have used a flash. I've got a a 48 that would fit right under...

7 pointsJust spit balling here. Loader itself, $1500-$1800 (possibly more to the guy that has to have it) and then add the cost of the tractor itself, $5-600. Might not be the best time to sell as it seems everyone is still "holding on" to see what happens with the economy. Of course they"ll still buy a low ball good deal but maybe not splurge for something. At least that's how it seems to be up around here anyway. That could go either way. There isn't always a bunch of loaders for sale there but there are always plenty of WH buyers looking for stuff. (See above comment)

7 pointsHad my Caddys removed 3 years ago. When I came out to the parking lot after they removed the patches, I couldn't find Mrs Ks gray van. I finally found her in a tan van. I didn't realize how gray everything looked for years. If you want big bro to pay, make sure you fail the eye test. I opted for the off the shelf $1500 lens that are covered by gubment. You have to chip in another $1500 for the custom ground headlights I just had a tune up on the right eye yesterday. A five minute laser procedure to remove some scum on the new lens.

7 points#1 tractor porn site! Keep say'n I am done. I make it about 2 months, see something and bam, road-trip!

6 pointsIt has become customary for many of us to gather for good eats and some good old conversation with fellow Horse-A Holics the Wednesday prior to the Big Show. I will attempt to organize this little gathering (sort ‘a like heading cats) and we need to know who will be attending, what you would like to do, and where you want to eat. Everyone is welcome, bring your family members who may be traveling with you, the more the merrier. WHO: If you plan to partake of this pre-show experience please respond to this thread prior to June 11, 2025. John @wallfish suggested a catering service and gathering at the picnic tables behind the Quality Inn, 1435 Doron Drive, Chambersburg, PA. There is also a good Pizza Palace nearby that I have ordered from previously or we could do DoorDash or UberEATS. This would be the easy because we would each place and pay for our own orders. This would work well if the weather is good which it usefully is, do you feel lucky? CM Pig Out Catering https://www.cmpigoutcatering.com/menu.html Little Vince’s Pizza https://www.littlevincespizza.com/order There are three restaurants nearby that I’ve eaten at that could accommodate a group of twenty or so without any problem if we notify them in advance. Rather than setting up a long table I would suggest we have tables for four to six people in one area so we can table hop. Please keep in mind that we will be occupying these tables longer than most patrons so a generous tip for our servers would be welcomed. WHEN: Wednesday June 18, 2025 Is 6:00 PM good? 6:30 PM? 7:00 PM? WHAT Order delivered food? Go to a restaurant? WHERE The picnic tables or one of the three restaurants are listed below with links to their menus. https://order.toasttab.com/online/italian-village ITALIAN VILLAGE 2.8 miles 5267 Philadelphia Ave, ( US-11) Chambersburg, PA https://order.toasttab.com/online/hickory-ridge-restaurant-chambersburg#!/ Hickory Ridge, Chambersburg 4.1 miles 3875 Philadelphia Avenue {US-11} Chambersburg, PA https://hosss.com/menu/ Hoss’s Steak and Seafood 5 miles 20 Falling Spring Rd. Chambersburg, PA Just east of I-81 on US-30, near Sleep Inn motel. Please respond to this post by June 11 and I will do my best to make the arrangements.

6 pointsInternational Burger Day is celebrated on May 28 annually. Burgers are one of the most popular foods in the world and for good reason. They are fast, inexpensive, and tasty. Formerly considered inferior to prime slices, ground beef was considered a cheap byproduct but is now popularly used for hamburgers. Burgers have grown to international fame with different toppings, condiments, and variations. Whether pan-fried, flame-broiled or barbecued, one thing is certain, burgers are going to be served in a bun and International Hamburger Day is a celebration of that.

5 pointsI originally planned to buy the engine (M14), however it was still attached to the frame! Then the owner informed me there was what remained of the tractor in a pull cart! All for 50! So after separating the frame and getting it loaded up on the old Dodge, (no wheels), I get ‘r home. Now it sits with a pair of old Sears front wheels and Jack stands in the rear. Yes, I am now inclined to fix this one! A basic clean up of the carb, a starter (which was on the shelf new) and letting oil soup outta the block, I fired it up on carb cleaner. To my amazement it lives! About 7 bolts later I will be able to move it around. Engine off and awaiting isolaters! I know everyone has seen M14 but had to post pictures! Yes, the sickness sets in, already looking for the brinley and it isn’t even moving on it’s own!

5 pointsNot a "For Sale" ad - it's a "What's it worth" thread! Once I get my answer, I will post in for sale. I'mm looking at a 4x4 tractor with a more powerful front end loader. If I get it, I am going to sell the '73 16 HP horse with FEL & weight box (box just sandblasted & painted) Seat has a single 2 - 3" tear, taped. It's got a (36"?) deck & mule, and the FEL stands go with it. Recent service includes trans service (Wix filter), oil change, new plug, new choke cable, carb cleaning, and FEL fluid change. I'm taking the new rear AGs & weights off and putting turfs back on. I also have a 2nd frame/body to include. Needs a headlight & a taillight lens. Can anyone ballpark the value for me, and will the big show be a good place to sell it, or a place to get beaten up on price? A couple of additional photos to be added tomorrow.
-
5 pointsI would say the show is the place to sell it. Guys will be already there with trailers. Otherwise anyone interested will have to factor in the cost and time of driving to get it at a later date
-
5 pointsCould be, any interest in digging up a couple lard cans of that moldy cash and investing in the Ed Dog Auction Fund. There I fixed the title for ya. Not my fault Lenovo put the U and I keys too close together. Yeah, Mc Carr has a nut, but I hate to buy a $27 nut for a $2 actuator. Just thinking I have a twisted up C clamp that probably has a 3/4-6 acme thread.

5 pointsFor those of you that weren't here when this was being built I have found the build thread. Even if you never intend to build a 4 X 4 articulated Wheel Horse this thread is well worth reading. Lots of innovative thinking went into this build and it is well documented.

5 pointsGot my Caddy-Lac consultation appt. tomorrow. Leaning towards a Fleetwood Bro-ham! I look at MP every day. Everyone's scrap is at least $300 Franklins around here! Check out this beauty was $350 but it's on sale!
-
5 pointsToday, I started off removing the AG tires off the 308 to fix the color difference. After moving the 312, and my four wheeler in front of it the battery was dead, so after pushing it to a spot I could take the tires off I got to it. I was getting things ready, My neighbor came over and asked if I was interested in an old Kohler from a RV generator. Now I’m up to 3 engines with no homes yet. I looked over the new engine and cleaned up the parts. I pushed the 308 back to charge while I painted. Then back on the rims. It was a busy day.
-
4 pointsIt looks as if I'll be doing something very similar until prices go up. I'm going to learn how to use a spray gun effectively on the spare '73 frame in the meantime.
-
4 pointsThis is why I created this thread, thank you. It saves me the embarrassment of posting it in for sale for what I need from it.
-
4 pointsI agree with @AlexR in that the main value is in the loader. I paid $1,200 for just a loader (Thompson), which I have on a 520H. Originally I had the loader on a C121 but the steering with a loaded bucket was awful, so I put in on the 520H. The swept front axle and gear reduction on the 520H was a huge upgrade. Around here, I think you’ve got a $2,000 machine if the hydraulic lines are in good shape - they are expensive to replace.
-
4 pointsFinally got the transmission rebuilt, all new bearings and seals. Thank you @stevasaurus for the wisdom!
-
4 pointsIf folks stay behind at the motel whilst others are out at a restaurant, be sure to keep the phones handy to document any car wash rage incidents, and interactions with local law enforcement!
-
4 pointsK&B sells repros that are very nice. They come painted and ready to go. I just put one on my 701.
-
4 pointsHere I was thinking you were looking for funds to go to an auction ... Try McMaster on that nut?
-
4 pointsI’ve done this, too, but since I only run workers and dislike the idea of an unanticipated (and possibly dangerous) failure, it was as a temporary step before replacement

4 pointsIf one of those decks were to make a love connection with a certain C-125 that is awaiting relocation - that would be ok with me...
-
4 pointsGood advice ... get your @ss over here and bring a extra 9/16 Mr. 702... Yep that's about what I came up with thanks Mike. That's why I stay away. There's a 1077 ran when parked fairly local for cheap that... never mind & knock it off Joe! Trouble with MP is the stoneys you run into. I'm not a huge people person but this last guy I actually wrenched on a Honda powered genny with so there are some good guys out there. How often one goes on a score and you end up wrenching with the seller! I mentioned this guy has some motors. He also had a big shelf just packed with engines. Teckies, Briggs, Hondas, some oddballs & even some Kohlers. Pretty much all horizontals. Bins of NOS Techy parts but mostly late model & very little HH stuff tho. Mostly later stuff and most NOS that never had oil in them! Bet there was a hundred engines there including this one. NOS and again haven't run the numbers on it yet. Drop that in a plow mule! Note the NOS Briggs next to it Tony @Docwheelhorse. At least 4 NOS M-8s ... I shoulda got more pics ...
-
4 points@squonk that one NEEDs you! Besides, your finished with the Suburban, so YOU NEED it too!
-
4 pointsWhen snap rings and E-rings are made they are stamped so one side has rounded edges and the other side has sharp edges. This one should be installed with the round side down and the sharp edge up. Harder for the ring to jump the groove when pressure is applied.

3 pointsI paid $1500 for just the loader(no tractor) around 15 or so years ago.
-
3 pointsYou can ask whatever you want for it. I don't think you would get any flack for it because of the loader. Because like @953 nut said people are very interested in loaders. It's all about how badly you want to sell it and if someone is willing to pay what you are asking. I think what gets flack is the people asking $500+ for a 70's or later machine that has been sitting outside for 20 years doesn't run, (or even better doesn't have a engine haha) is missing pieces and is very worn out.
-
3 pointsWas it me.... I'd keep it and use for whatever makes it handy. Use the larger 4 x 4 when needed.

3 pointsPeople at the show will be very interested in a running operating with a FEL. I bought my GT-14 with FEL on over a dozen years ago for $ 1,600 and had to drive 800 miles round trip to pick it up. Take it to the show, it will find a new home.
-
3 pointsIt’s finally done! It needed a fuel pump and now it’s up and going. It’ll serve as a worker and tow pig around here. I know I know you want pictures here you go:
-
3 pointsI have peened the socket closed with a hammer to tighten up a few ball joints. Did this on my 855 to keep ball from falling out of the socket.
-
3 pointsBob - the real solution to to toss the OE parts & go with aftermarket Heim Joint assemblies. BUT - look at the 4 swage marks on the rod itself wrere the ball goes in. That metal was displaced in a press to capture the non-greaseable ball. You MAY be able to close up that retaining area a tad using a small punch or chisel and striking it with the BFH's Little Cousin. Work it bit by bit - you go too much, game over... All this does is buy you a bit more time to get a proper replacement (IHMO - even buying a NOS part is one and a half steps up from buying used toilet paper...)

2 pointsToday’s Tractorpalooza started off after being called into work at 7 am, The painted rims and tires went on the 308, fixed a paint issue with the drivers side rear rim, then started on cleaning out and assembling the carburetor with an online schematic for the K341. I lucked out since all the seals interchange between the K and Magnums. I already had many of the gaskets I needed from the leftover M12 pack I had. I still need to get an oil pan and fuel bowl gaskets though. After putting the carburetor on, and slimming down the K341 physically and electronically I moved on to the C141 project. I drilled mounting holes for the upper dash, primed it, and the shift plate then mounted the upper dash, cleaned up the key switch contacts, and hoisted the K321 on to the C141 chassis to possibly tinker with later tonight. Maybe…😁…phew.

2 pointsI really enjoyed going through your build thread a while back. It's great to see it's been well used, and you are back to making some improvements on it! That is quite the counterweight you have there.
-
2 pointsOh come on... nicest running Briggs you'll ever have! Ok how about a nice ready to go fresh 8 ... I'll even put one of your SGs on it ...
