@c-series don Don found this tractor in western Pa. and asked if anyone could get it to the Big Show. It happened to be about 20 mile from my sisters farm where I planned to visit this week. So, after an interesting trip back into the Laurel Mountains on dirt roads and switchbacks that actually confused my GPS I found the owners beautiful secluded property. Ed and Sam after loading the C. Then found my way back to my Sisters farm. Pressure washed my BILs little Russian Belaru Lawn mower that he uses to mow his 50 acres. I gave the C a 4 hour bath as I drove home in the rain today. The gates were open at the Big Show so I stopped and was tempted to unload the C in a barn but MrsK wasn't interested in camping In the barn for 5 weeks. So, we came home and parked it in the dry with some friendly company. Next stop...The Big Show

@Ed Kennell Excellent Ed! I know I’ve thanked you many times already for this but I want to say thank you again! This is the first time I’ve purchased a tractor without seeing it in person. However after seeing the pictures and speaking at length with the owner I went with my gut feeling and agreed to buy it. By the looks of it I’m going to be happy! Ed is bringing it to the show for me, so I invite y’all to come by and check it out. Or look for the guy driving a nice C-101 around with a smile on his face and that’ll be me!!! 👍🏻

Thanks Mike. I found that in the garage storage loft when we cleared out me MILs property. It was face down covering some holes in the flooring. My FIL rented the garage to the Keesey Brothers back in the '50s. A couple hours of elbow grease and it cleaned up pretty well. Here's another one I rescued. A flood washed out part of our gun club and the sign. The club replaced the sign and some time later while trout fishing I found the old sign all twisted and rolled up in the mud of a deep hole. A lot of work with a rubber hammer, rubbing compound, cleaner, and wax. This one I bought at a Sporting goods estate auction in the '60s. Paid $1.25.

National Frog Jumping Day is on May 13, and we have the history behind how this day started. Did you know that there are approximately 7,300 species of frogs around the world and the most colorful ones are the most poisonous? National Frog Jumping Day is important because it brings literature to life, as well as brings awareness to different kinds of frogs and their impact within our ecosystem. The history behind National Frog Jumping Day has turned into a tradition that came to life from the idea of a short story. Mark Twain, one of the most famous and celebrated authors in literature, published his first short story named “The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County” in 1865. This story also goes by “Jim Smiley and His Jumping Frog” and “The Notorious Jumping Frog of Calaveras County.” The premise of the story is about a man named Jim Smiley, a compulsive better. He trains a pet frog he names Dan’l Webster and bets his frog can jump higher than all the other frogs in town. The man who he bets with ends up tricking Smiley and wins the bet. Inspired by this story, Calaveras County in Northern California started hosting a Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee during the third week of May. The first event was held in Copperopolis, California in 1893 but has since made its permanent residence in Angels Camp. The fair spans four days and offers classic fair food, award-winning wines, carnival rides, rodeo, and live music, amongst other things, but their main event is the frog jumping competition. One frog named Rosie the Ribeter has held the jumping record at 21 feet, 5 ¾ inches since 1986.

Today I got everything motorized out. There was more mowing with the 312, this time my parents back lawn. There was a bit of fine tuning, as I mowed a quarter and realized the mower wasn’t low enough to noticeably cut. so after a re cut it was fine.

As I said in the “What did you do today thread”, I did garden stuff and transported plant pots with the 312 which has always worked excellent. Some loose bolts were tightened on the 308 and I put the drive belt cover back on. I think I’m going to have to do something different with the grass diverter on the “42 RD as somehow it ripped out. I’ll see what I’ve got kicking around. The horses got some TLC and the 312 got a workout.

My company is selling 2 - 40' shipping containers. My wife has been wanting some extra storage so I purchased one for $400.00. I started grading the site where it will be placed next to my shop so I can cut an opening and have easy access.

I used this on my 312, It cut well, there’s a few varieties of it for not a ton of money, and it has held up great.

I used to sell them at the big show and elsewhere. But my cost went up, and shipping got outrageous, so I just stopped. You can buy 7/16-20 x 1-1/2" bolts from Bolt Depot and lug nuts for early 60-70's GM cars on eBay.

SOLD! I took this RJ58 in on trade, and know little history about it. The RR axle bushing could use replacing. It has a Predator 79cc engine on it. I have no air filter for that. Runs and drives in all gears. Asking $300. IMG_9237.mov

The clearance between the flap I added to the deck housing and the rear wheels on ours is pretty tight. When the deck is lifted for travel and the tractor reverses, it can bind. I trimmed the base cove flap in front of the tires to add a smidge more clearance.

Good to know Bob ... I was going to chastise The Squonky for taking away your supplemental income. I can still give it to him you like... You going to have brake bands there? I could use one for the shelf.

Then out they will stay. I need to pull the valves out anyway as there's plastic stuck in the adjusters so I'll see what they look like. I went through and lapped all the valves when I went through the cylinder head on my old Saab a couple years ago and was pleased with the results so I'll give that a shot first. I hate to replace things that aren't necessary but it's one of those "if you're already in there..." kind of things I guess. Would you agree on replacing the crank bearings or just clean them out and let them roll? 30 tractors, I think that counts as a heard!

That is exactly correct and how it should be. Here is what goes on inside your engine. The pics below show the governor that is inside your engine. The cam shaft gear makes this part spin, high speed forces the 2 L shaped fly weights out word, this forces the pin in the middle to push out. Not a whole lot of movement. If the engine is not running, this part does nothing. Picture A shows the fly weights in position as though the engine was running and forcing the weights out. A Picture B shows the weights retracted as if the engine is not running or the throttle spring tension on the governor shaft is holding the pin in the center down. B In the diagram below the above pictured governor is part #17. The pin in the middle of the governor #17 pushes against the flag on the governor shaft #15 inside the engine. This motion rotates the governor arm clock wise to push the throttle close to slow down the engine. When you pull the throttle open and rotate the throttle wheel #12 this applies more spring pressure on the end of the governor pin on part #17. More pressure makes it so that #17 will have to spin faster in order for the fly weights to move out and slow the engine down. This balancing act between the spring on the throttle wheel and the fly weights on the governor is what determines your engine speed. Put every thing back together as I explained in my earlier post or better yet follow the instructions in manual that @WHX?? posted a link to. When it is together take a video showing what happens when you move the throttle in and out using the throttle cable as normal please.

@Handy Don I used big zip ties to assist the magnets on a metal trailer fender. Other benefit they were on top fenders so they didn't get submerged when launching... Maybe use a piece of thick sheet metal bolted on?

The foot control I have been showing in this last build is currently all apart for painting and will get re-installed when the tractor gets rebuilt. However, here are measurements from a foot control I built a couple of years ago that is virtually the same. Here is the neutral measurements. I measured from the bottom edge of the fender as shown. Full reverse. Full forward. If the cam block is hitting going into reverse then you need to lengthen the control rod by unscrewing it a turn or two. You can then set neutral by adjusting the eccentric at the rear end.

Beautiful work as always! Would you mind measuring the travel from neutral to full reverse and neutral to full forward? I'm tinkering with some of my pedal designs and could use this information if you don't mind sharing. Also, did you have to grind out the notch in the control cam to keep it from hitting the fitting coming out of the hydro pump when in full reverse? I've had to do this on both of my 416H's.

Foot pedal and plate painted and final bolted together ready for grease fitting to be installed. Foot pedal grease fitting installed. Pedal is now complete with the exception of the reverse pedal that can be bolted on later.

@c-series don thank you so much! Count me in! So, it will only be me again this year. My daughter and her family from VA Beach will be making a Northeast Tour starting in Connecticut, then PA and then finishing up at Long Beach Island in NJ. They'll arrive in PA hopefully on Father's Day, head to the Jersey shore the next Saturday. I told my wife, and daughter would make my world if they would show up at the show on Friday with my granddaughter, so I can give her a ride in "her" 4-wheeled wagon. We could put both of our granddaughters in it together! Thanks brother!
