9 pointsI fly my flag 24/7. It is illuminated at night. The flags at Menards have worn well. We use them at the local cemeteries with good results. As far as You Tube consider this.😳

7 pointsEveryone start preparing for a really bad winter as soon as Ed sells his snowblower 🤣🤣🤣🤣

5 pointsGot the tacky back up and running. Cleaned it all up and head gasket. Runs great now.

5 pointsFunny, but not so funny in the big picture... Got in a car the other day and the maps program showed directions to a local church. The car owner typically goes to church that day / time... Car "assumed" same routine... Alexa, Siri, your car... yes they are listening and watching... Paper maps do neither... and they work with no batteries, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cell plans etc...
-
5 pointsIt’s funny this is the only place I have mentioned this. No Google search or anything else. This is on my YouTube suggestion this morning: I’ve seen these flags. They are enormous! 40x80 is incredible. That’s the dimensions of the storage barn!

4 pointsToday, on National Blueberry Pie Day, April 28, we gather to celebrate the wonder of nature’s only true blue fruit baked into a doughy, buttery pastry. It just so happens that, at the time of this holiday, the first plump berries in North America will be coming into season, ripe for the plucking, ready to be sugar-powdered and baked. This underappreciated dessert has deep roots in American colonial history, and we mean to tell you all about them over a steaming slice of syrupy blue delight.

4 pointsFired up the e-tank again. I'm gonna fit a 312 fender pan on an 16hp Electro 12 Frankentiller . I can almost submerge the whole thing but not quite. That will add a day or three to the process.

4 pointsOur "Old Glory" is also proudly displayed 24/7/365 and each year on my birthday I receive a new flag and retire the faded glory. The VFW has a drop box for retired flags.

4 pointsI guess I am just a bit older and wiser than Jim @WHX??. When it was National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day I shared this information with Mrs. 953 and we celebrated it together. Yesterday I exercised a great deal of discretion and PB & J for supper again.

3 pointsI don’t weld but a friend of mine does. Bought this 42” RD deck last fall and didn’t look at it as closely as I should have (that’s on me). Baffles were rotted and flopping around under the deck. New material is a low grade stainless. The two 2” holes are for cleaning out that triangle space that just catches and holds onto grass/leaves and promotes rot. Next up is paint and reassembly

3 pointsI picked up this Roof Ranger from a buddy last winter, took it apart, because I can’t leave well enough alone and replaced the belts, tires, seat & a few other things. Cleaned it up and put it back together. 5 HP Briggs with a 24” cut, I believe this is from the 60s or early 70s. This engine is pretty tired, it’ll sometimes fog for mosquitoes while I mow. I mowed the yard with it today, this thing drives with a rubber wheel running on a flat pulley. The deck is welded to the frame and pushing down on the handle raises the front of the deck, it has a cutting height from 1”- 3”. Holding the handle down as I mow is pretty awkward. 2 speeds forward and one reverse. This thing just might be the reason OSHA came into existence.

3 pointsWell it’s been a while. But over the past couple days did a few things, Got the PTO all fully hooked up. But what’s not pictured is I got the air filter box and assembly all back togehter too.

3 pointsWe always have a map or atlas when we travel. Gps is nice but we like the paper version. Back when I first retired Edy and I sat in the living room and talked about doing the second childhood thing. One items was a new corvette. Both of our I pads were hitting us with corvette ads and other stuff we talked about. Don’t know if it was the I pads or the smart tv. Didn’t like it either way.

3 pointsI got this blower in a trade 3 years ago and have been waiting for a snow that never comes. So, I decided to move it on. I did use it one time last winter in a 6" snow and it worked great, but most of our snows are the 3" slushy stuff more suited to plow. $400 delivered to the show.
-
3 pointsI have the same unit. When I DO have to use it, I shut the fuel and run it dry when done. Starts first or second pull no matter how long it sits.
-
3 pointsI've been working on the tools again. The pliers were too thin at the web and fractured. So I had to start again. Bit of a pain but we learn by our mistakes. The adjustable wrench was a bit more involved, with shaping and milling to create the tee slot for the sliding jaw. The full size spanner on the left is an original Landrover one as supplied with the series 1 model. My version is just about the same, I'm quite happy with the way it looks.

3 pointsAll great ideas that you have for storage. I have an 8kw w/ a Briggs Vanguard that does not get run a whole lot either. I bring it out a few times a year and let it run for 20 to 30min with a 1500w space heater plugged into it. The space heater puts some load on it to make it work a little. Could actually use about 4 space heaters to really load it down. After exercising it, I then shut the fuel valve off and let it run until it dies. This ensures there is little to no gas in the carb. I never keep more than a gallon of gas ( no corn squeezin's ) mixed with SeaFoam in the tank, usually less. Mine has a plastic tank so I guess I really could just store it completely dry.
-
3 pointsThere are a few different things you can do to minimalize the damage done to aluminum carbs by ethanol fuel. I won't mention them because it's far smarter to avoid ethanol gas to begin with...
-
3 pointsI've suggested to my wife a Jolly Roger for the pontoon. Wasn't received well.
-
3 pointsGoogle The Flag Guys. I have gotten several flags from them. I think they even have a Jolly Roger. I wanted to get one and fly it off the cooling tower at work but I probably would have gotten fired!

2 points4 horses in two weeks. This needs to stop. I sold one already so I have 3 left. Scored this 867 to complete my 67 series and this a commando 8. 867 has the original seat, but i took it off for the ride home. They both run and drive. I was gonna sell the commando but it runs so good I don't know if I can do it Someone buy my raider 12 so i have room for these!

2 pointsToday I washed 39 years of grease of my new 36" tiller in preparation for replacing the tine shaft oil seal (pn 103118) on one side. I have been applying penetrating oil now, and I'll try to remove the tines tomorrow. Then, I'll look for a source for the seal. EDIT: It looks like Lowell is the man for the seals. I'm also looking for (2) deck pulleys, pn 109967, if anyone has some used.

2 pointsGeorge Orwell got it parley right when he coined the phrase "Big brother is watching" in his novel 1984. It symbolized government surveillance and control over us. At the time that he wrote it in 1949 there was no social media and no electronic tattle tale devices monitoring our every move but he was frighteningly close to today's reality. All of these devices are here to help us, So they tell us!
-
2 pointsMy problem is that I sprayed carb cleaner through all holes and watched it go through.(including spraying myself in the eyes) I think it’s the rubber tipped valve thing.

2 pointsGas is different than water. Gas will seep right into a small hole whereas water can't due to surface tension of it. Wipe it off immediately after removing it and shake it. If you can hear/feel gas it has a hole but also look for a wet spot. The gas will creep out of the hole and you would see it. Spraying isn't enough to clean the seat. A little carb cleaner and Q-tip works. Also CAREFULLY wiping the rubber tip on the valve. (It can twist off and break)
-
2 pointsNever had one apart but the illustrated parts list may help. It looks like that handle and the shaft are 2 pieces retained by one roll (47) pin drove inside the other (48). I will guess the biggest struggle will be getting the shaft (46) out of the bellcrank (19). Better start applying a good penetrating oil to everything. https://www.partstree.com/models/21-10k805-310-8-toro-garden-tractor-1988/manual-lift-linkage-20/
-
2 pointsNow I know that size won't hit the deck. I was asking about that in another thread. Thanks.
-
2 pointsI'm going to end up selling this one and not for much. I really want an rj or a small Wheel horse tractor at some point. I just want this one to be running and working when I send it down the road. I don't have a barn or anything so I can't keep everything I want. The 77 b-80 is my main worker and then a small little one for messing around. I am going to get a shed soon so I can put these in it. My neighbor is letting me use half her garage in exchange for cutting her grass and helping her out.
-
2 pointsI just put it on to test the motor. I know it will need a brace if I keep it that way! Thanks for the reminder though. Steve

2 pointsHow about using one of the plastic fuel tanks used for outboard motors on small boats. They have dry break couplings so you can remove them for filling at the gas station, etc. just fit the relevant couplings to the genny and you’re good to go!
-
2 pointsFunny you should ask..... you were so close. The second pinned item at the top in "Transmissions & Transaxles" is the Bearing and Seal Cross reference info. Good stuff.....
-
2 pointsIf I still have them I’ll measure one up tomorrow for ya. I suspect they were on the tractor when I sold it though I might still have one or two kicking around.
-
2 pointsMy flag flies 24/7/365. It is lit dusk to dawn. I routinely get 1 year, but I replace them at first hint of wear. Pole is an old sailboat mast. Last two flags I got at Menards.
-
2 pointsSsshhh... @953 nut perhaps you ought not tell him tomorrow is "Buy your Cindy a big diamond day"???
-
2 pointsThat’s a good point as well. I’m sure it would do good to be taken better care of. I do at least keep a light on it, I know it should not be left in the dark.
-
2 pointsThe police force I worked for used to fly the union jack flag outside police stations only on set dates through the year. A Morning shift officer had the job of hauling the flag up on each given date. So the red, white and blue stayed pretty clean and intact for many a year. Then some donut decided that was too much trouble, so they would leave the flag up year round. Consequently they end up looking like a dish rag after a few short months. We then have to replace the flag as there is a protocol about not disrespecting the flag by flying a dishevelled one. Even the well made sewn panel flags couldn't cope with 24 hours a day abuse so perhaps we should go back to flag days and teach the young cops the importance of our flag.
