Came home from work around 2:30 this morning. After coming inside I realized I left my phone in the car. I open the garage door take two steps out the door and hear the most terrifying screams. Nearly had a heart attack. I realized I have a barn owl in the neighborhood.

Nothing super complicated for me. Mostly just keep on keepin' on.... for the most part. My biggest desire for this year is to get a better hold on my health. I need to lose at least 40 pounds or more. Become more flexible. Regain control of my breathing to whatever extent I can. Health. That's my biggest goal.

Downsizing the herd and maybe getting rid of a big tractor... Ain't getting any younger and the big parts are getting heavier and harder to deal with...

Happy new year everyone. Lots of goals for us going into 2025. Same as most of you trying to get healthier, eating better, quitting smoking, cutting back on my coffee consumption (not sure anyone wants to be around for that one) Also have a lot of projects that I’d like to get finished up. Cleaning and organizing the shop to make a more usable space out of it. Finish the engine rebuild on the Farmall C before summer mowing season is upon us again, and finishing up the Cub LoBoy we started on at the beginning of this summer, but got sidelined with other more pressing repairs. Also need to put some time in getting a better set of pens built and a better setup for working calves than the makeshift setup we have now, it has worked for many many years the way it is but has lots of room for improvement. We would also like to dedicate more time to getting our YouTube channel up off the ground and going, and after many years of threatening to do it I think 2025 may be the year that I say goodbye to the shop and go out on my own welding and turning wrenches.

On December 31 every year, people across the United States observe Make Up Your Mind Day, deciding on some important resolutions for the coming year. It is an important day to encourage people to review their goals, achievements, and progress, and then come up with better strategies to achieve them in the new year. By formally making a set of resolutions on this day, people are more likely to stay committed to them throughout the year, or at least a day or two!

Thanks I swapped it around today. It didn't seem to make much of a difference in how easily it swings but that certainly looks like the way it's suppose to fit!

Happy new year everyone for when the Internet goes crazy later. Been talking about booking a river cruise through Germany, see all the things we tried to blow up in WW2 lol. Carry on with the Landy build. Stay well and keep smiling. Mick and Sandra xxxxx

I believe the Work Horse GT-1800 was the first to come with 23x10.50-12’s The GT-1600 came with 8.50’s Other than that the largest tire on the C-Series was a 23x9.50-12 that came on a C-175. Let’s look at some pictures, I know you guys like pictures! Note: The C-175 in these pictures has 10.50’s on it. The 420-LSE came from the factory with 10.50’s

Honestly I think it turns side to side pretty smoothly already. Heim joints would probably be a lot easier to install though, I busted up my knuckles pretty good today trying to pull out the old cotter pin before I finally cut it out. Shouldn't need to mess with it again though.

Take the local motorcycle safety class again, get my bike running and moving again, and get back to riding, while I still can. To that end, get more exercise, improve my diet, and my health generally, all in the interest of gaining strength for motorcycling. And more concerts.

Down sizing my herd. Sorting thru parts. Finish some house renovations. Loose weight, and get healthier. Spend some time with family and friends. Read my Bible more. Not necessarily in that order.

Just read a great book: Slow Down to the Speed of Joy. Mathew Kelly. Focus on what matters. Family. Health. Well being of others. Faith. Less is more. Also reading a lot by Arthur Brooks' work... I'm resolving to not have a "bucket list", but to concentrate on reducing the denominator in this equation: Satisfaction (Joy) = what you have ÷ what you want Happy New Year!

First goal is to get more active, lose some weight, and hopefully feel better. Next is to clean out my side of the garage. Things are getting too close to Mrs M's new car. Things that I haven't seen nor used in two or more years have to go. Then comes the Wheel Horses. I have an 18 x 20 pole shed that is bulging at the seams. Eight Wheel Horses, and a John Deere mower with my Cyclone Rake. Time to let a couple go. I love working on them, but the body won't let me (please refer to the first goal). So if I can only do one of the above, I will consider myself successful.

Battery holder ready to install. Battery holder installed and battery clamped down. Battery hooked up. I then cranked engine while moving lift up and down to purge air out of hydraulics. I then added fluid as required to bring fluid level to full mark on dipstick.

Weight is your friend when looking for traction. Rear weight is really needed when you have a 300 lb. snow blower hanging over the front that is trying to lift the rear wheels. Filled tires, wheel weights, 200 lb weight rack and a 200 lb operator helps to keep the rears pressed to the ground.

Attended big show last 2yrs. We stayed at an airbnb both times. Way nicer than a hotel & definitely less expensive. Also, staying someplace nice w/amenities like a hot tub helps make the trip a little more tolerable for the girlfriend! 🤣

Yerr gonna needta add another "?" to your screen name.... You'll notice I left one word off of the quote back there because my version of faith is very different from the majority. My life's trials and tribulations have taught me that: Self strength and self-reliance are not just okay, but a requirement to being content and whole. I really wish more people would figure this out a lot earlier in life. I've been so much happier the last several years.

In my opinion you will never get the strength or longevity from bushings that you do from bearings. In addition, bushings have much higher friction than bearings. Add weight to the application, and that friction goes up substantially.

2 link means that there is a cross chain every 2nd link on the diameter chains. 4 link means there is a cross chain every 4th link on the diameter chains. 4 link yields a bumpy ride because there is such a big gap between cross chains. 2 link are generally a little more money but, worth it in my opinion

Been trying to remove the steering wheel from the shaft on a T1267 carcass, I‘ll finally be parting out, for about 4 days. Getting the collar under the steering wheel loose, before I could even get to the steering wheel, was all kinds of fun. Once I got the set screw out, it had been stripped out by a PO, so it had to be drilled and removed with an ez out. I tried soaking the collar with Kroil for a couple days, heating with acetylene, small pipe wrench, heating again, more Kroil. Finally threaded a machine screw into the set screw hole and was able to drive it back and forth until it became loose enough to slide down out of the way letting me lower the dash. Oh yeah, I cracked the dash while trying to pry the steering wheel off before I decided to loosen the collar😡. Well the steering wheel got another few applications of Kroil while I modified a bolt to thread into the steering shaft. My 2 arm puller has a 1/2” fine thread shaft with a short area of 7/16” at the tip that’s not threaded and a small ‘nipple’ in the center of that. I centered a 7/16” hole in the top if a 3/8”x1-1/4” bolt, that had a oversized hex head which I rounded off to fit inside the steering wheel center. Then a 9/32” hole centered in that depression to accept the tip of the puller. See the pictures. After threading the modified bolt into the shaft and Another liberal dose of Kroil and I started cranking. It was getting pretty hard to turn the puller shaft when It let out aloud sound and broke free. Wish I’d have thought of this idea before cracking the dash. Anyway, it worked very well so I thought I’d share it with you all maybe it will work for someone else.

I think the wider wheels were to more closely match the track of the wider front axle. In addition the wider overall track made the machine look considerably larger. During the years of the 520-H production, everything was larger. Cars, trucks, everything. It was an easy way to make these tractors seem more substantial.

I put Heims on the dozer I just refurbished. Partly because it came without the rod and lever, partly for the solid and easy operation, and partly because the hole at the quadrant had been wallowed out terribly (this plow has been worked HARD).

I've got an assortment of different brands of screwdrivers. Definitely a fan of the old school clear handle Craftsman. The red/blue set I bought when I was at Summit Racing couple years ago. I must admit I use my ratcheting Snap on screwdriver the most.

I think the quitting smoking I can handle pretty easily, kinda goes hand in hand with saying goodbye to the shop and going out on my own. I have noticed most days when I’m not working and out at the farm I don’t even hardly have the desire to light one up, but when I’m at work we have this one kid working here that just looking at him makes me light one up to keep my sanity and not just reach over and slap him. As far as coffee goes we don’t want to go there. They don’t call me the one armed mechanic around the shop for nothing, can only work with my right arm because the coffee cup rarely leaves my left hand. We usually make two pots at the shop every morning, most of that is drank by me and I also make a pot at the house before I leave. That pot fills my thermos I bring to work plus one cup before I walk out the door. Once the coffee in the office is gone I’ll go to the pickup and break out the thermos and nurse on it the rest of the day.

While I leave these chains on all the time they were designed for easy mounting do not have to move the vehicle to install. (In Europe many mountain passes have chain up rules that is what these were designed for easy on and off.) Used them on our 1981 Honda Civic while we were over there.(Old Civics had 12" wheels...) The zig zag pattern gives excellent constant traction and a smooth ride. Classic German engineering.
