11 pointsNovel idea, but I already have one of those... He loves pumpkins, and craps enough to qualify as a spreader... I had a picture if me and ol' Jake together, but didn't want to confuse anyone about who I was referring to.

10 pointsToday is National Bacon Day Gather-round the frying pan everybody because National Bacon Day is December 30 and it’s enough to make any bacon-lover squeal. Just saying the word makes us hungry. It’s an incredibly versatile food. You can eat it on a burger if you’re ready for a major calorie-fest. Or, you can crumble it over a salad if you’re trying to be kind of healthy (but let’s be honest, nothing is healthy with bacon on it). You can even make it the star of the show by simply pairing it with eggs. No matter what you do, bacon is greasy, delicious, and the most beautiful thing we’ve ever seen strip. If you, too, want to climb a tall building and scream at the top of your lungs, “I love bacon,” then please join us in celebrating National Bacon Day on December 30.

8 pointsToday is Mrs. 8n's birthday. I'll have to point out that it is also national bacon day. I'll disagree with Greasy Pete on this issue. Bacon is properly cooked in a cast iron skillet. The bacon fat keeps the skillet seasoned, and excess bacon fat can be collected for later use in the popcorn popper.

8 pointsI unknowingly celebrated two days ago then! Had a BLT at a British themed restaurant a couple towns over with quite a bit of bacon on it!
-
7 pointsLOVE BACON!! It pairs well with almost anything. Even chocolate. May seem like a weird combo, but it taste divine!!!
-
7 pointsOnly Peter would try to figure out ways to improve bacon… keep it greasy…
-
6 pointsMy method as well, but I chase the bacon with a couple eggs over easy. Low and slow prevents splatters. My pan is over 100 years old!
-
6 pointsYesterday I welded up a couple plate weight holders, primed them, and put the final coat of paint on them this morning. The welds aren't pretty, I haven't touched a welder in 20 years and even then it was only for a few hours after a few minutes of instruction, but they held up to several whacks with a hammer! Now I'm just waiting for snow...

5 pointsMrs. K uses her George Foreman to cook her bacon. Stays pressed flat and the grease drains to the trough.
-
5 pointsMicrowave bacon cooker. Holds up to 10 strips laid across the bumps, collects the grease in the base, lid keeps spatter contained, and the strips come out nicely and evenly cooked. Pour off the grease into our collection can then pop base and top into the dishwasher. Never going back to skillets, griddles, or paper towels.

4 points@bassJAM I see the rod that pushes and pulls to angle your plow is connected to the top of the swing quadrant. It should be connected to the bottom of it, there is a hole directly underneath where it’s connected now. It’s a bit of a pain in the neck to get the cotter pin in the hole in the rod once it’s in the proper place. But it will swing much easier than the way it is now if you change it.

4 pointsCooking bacon is an art form onto itself. It is an art to select what is a nice cut and thickness. It is about the right time of day to start cooking so as to engulf the aroma throughout the residence. It is knowing that bacon keeps cooking a little when you take it off the gridle. If it is done perfectly, is does not break in your hand (too crispy), but it is not so fatty that is is too fatty. This is why it is a holiday...not everyone can do this. My feeling...it is really hard to beat cast iron. The perfact breakfast...Bacon, eggs (over easy), buttered wheat toast with peanut butter and jelly, and a huge glass of orange juice. HAPPY BACON DAY !!!

4 pointsMy wife has cooked bacon in the microwave for years. Her method is placing strips on a plate and putting another plate over it. The top plate holds the strips fairly flat and catches the splatter, the bottom plate collects the (grease) flavorful fluid to fry the eggs with.

4 pointsMax Over the years at work, we had the occasional need to have specialized straight spur gears made to interact with a Customer's product during Testing. Old School method used for the last 100 years was to have the teeth hobbed. The center hole and keyway were machined first and used to fixture the blank. A single tooth profile was cut thru the stationary gear blank, the cutter returns, the blank is revolved to the angle of the next tooth, and so on. The gear blank had to be unhardened for this. After cutting, usually just the teeth would be induction hardened. Blanks may be stacked, but within space limits. Modern method is to use a slightly larger disc that is already thru hardened to the desired level. A CNC Wire EDM Machine is used to cut all the features in the same setup. A small 3 to 4 MM hole is present in the blank so the .005" diameter wire can be fed thru to cut the internal features. For cutting the external tooth profile no hole is needed. Benefits - thru hardened finished part. Blanks can be stacked to a height of roughly 4 inches and all cut at once. Reduced runout as all features are cut in the same setup. The Electro Discharge Machining process is a chip less one, unlike hobbing. The surface finish from EDM is smoother - less gear noise... Compound gears need to dealt with each individually.

3 pointsI like bacon. Anyway you want to cook it... Except... Going to disagree with any plastic microwave bacon cookers... IMHO No plastic is safe in a microwave.
-
3 pointsGreat to hear that your progress is on track. However, when you said that you had gone from pain meds to icing, I had another picture in mind...
-
3 pointsNot a bacon fan, but I buy up all the cheap greasy bacon when it's on sale for $2.99/lb and freeze it. Then grind it in with my deer burger at 1/5. I do like a BLT when my lettuce and tomatoes are ripe.
-
3 pointsAnd a bit more... The shaft center distances are already defined in the Unidrive - and that sets the minor backlash between mating gears. Changing 3rd gear ratio may not be possible internally.... I agree that the taller tire would give a higher ground speed.....

3 pointsI know a guy that got tired of waiting for snow and fed newspaper into his new Cub Cadet blower . I may have to resort to trying something on my Ber Vac Deuce. Horse manure spreader, pumpkin chopper?
-
3 pointsSame here. A few years back a couple buddies told me to get one. They said I could set it in a puddle, add dish soap and blow bubbles. ...I wonder?

3 pointsMore cleaning and cleaning up and cleaning out of the basement workshop space so we can get things out to the new workshop space in the barn. Got a fair amount of parts and supplies sorted and boxed. @peter lena will like this little "kit" I've set aside. Also got a new temporary carb bench set up so Trina can start disassembly on the big L shaped workbench.

2 points@8ntruck hooda thunk it ? my wife never liked the pan spatter / cleanup , everyone has their own way , we prefer bacon , dry / crisp , think the cooling racks , the bacon sits on after being removed , from the paper plate , paper towel ,s it was cooked on , is , the big gain for a 4 pack of cooked , cooled dry bacon . that 4 pack , broken in half , length size is a very good crunchy base. we just cover each others move . stage of prep, when bacon is almost done , drop the toast, lettuce tops / tomato's already sliced . all goes together quick easy , clean up is also simple . had the grandkids do their own , same steps , loved it ! grandma always gets them into food prep , how to , when they come over , show them how , to do anything , get them involved , its the subtle , confidence , building that , they love , thats how we were taught , that also goes for clean up , kids tell us they love that , the back and forth , coming to a common understanding , what a concept , pete
