It seems everywhere else on the net or just reading the news can boil the blood and raise blood pressure. This place might possibly be the only sanctuary on the internet for common courtesy, friendliness, advise (WH or not) and encouragement. I still venture out there into the darkness of the web more often than I probably should but I always come back to this little oasis nestled in the middle of all that chaos. I'm truly thankful to have this place to go. At the time I had no idea what a Wheel Horse was when I bought a 416-8 with a Ark FEL, maybe 2006-7? ( Super lucky) Then built a back hoe for it and starting sharing that on the web without even knowing there would be any interest in it. That's when I found this place and the crazy addiction began. Then found a RJ-58 and I didn't know the difference between a Clinton and a Kohler or even where the points were. People here were always friendly. offering advice and help. This simple little hobby of a bunch of old men playing with their little red lawnmowers has changed my life to certain degree. Changed for the better! So many friendships made over the years and all of them are something I'm thankful for.

Member #2 here with 18 years of scrolling under my belt …and many more to go! Attended the funeral of a RS member last weekend, someone I met through this forum and then at tractor shows for many years. That’s more important to me than any of my tractors! Russ Wright aka: @SALTYWRIGHT

I made up and hung new barn doors after rebuilding and reinforcing the track. The old setup was literally falling apart. …I believe my behind is still out there somewhere. I’m BEAT!

I think it was 2008 for me. Maybe earlier? I know I was member #33 when I joined however far back it was. Regardless I am also thankful. Lots of good folks and always good discussions!

It’s been about 81/2 years of pure education for me here on RS. I learn something every time I visit the site. I am so impressed and amazed at the expertise and knowledge of many of the members here. And they are so willing to show and explain solutions to problems without judgement for the member seeking help. I have not met very many of the members here, but the few I have met in person display every positive attribute that many others talk about on this forum. I am glad and proud to be associated with such fine people. I give thanks for all the moderators this Thanksgiving Day. Especially @nylyon

We don't do thanksgiving over here, our next big shindig is Christmas itself. Turkey is the traditional meat for that main meal and Brussels sprouts one of the traditional vegetables. I will be making my fruit cakes over the weekend which are a great tradition over here, a dark, moist Christmas cake. Mum always made ours but since she passed I have taken on the mantle of cake Baker, following her recipe. Have a wonderful thanksgiving holiday and don't eat too much. Mick

Hi, I am a new member from Leicester, England. My first 227-5 is used for mowing and pulling a trailer for firewood. My latest 227-5 needs a fair bit of work to get it usable, which I plan to do in the spring. I have managed to find the manuals for the 227-5, the 36" rear discharge deck and the Kawasaki FC540V engine already on this site which have been really useful.

We have all sons, grandsons, nephews, and grandnephews in our family, so on traditional Thanksgiving Day the boys all celebrate with their inlaws. Mrs. K and I had a late Breakfast, then brought the two Christmas trees in from the barn. Very thankful today...the lights all worked. Then watched the Cubs give away the upset. Now our dinner will be two bowls of leftover venison burger veggie soup and crackers. Our Kennell Family Thanksgiving dinner will be on Sunday. Last count was 28 eaters. The Menu 2 smoked turkeys regular stuffing oyster stuffing made with a gallon of Chesapeake Bay oysters 1 baked ham mashed taters gravy candied sweet taters baked corn green bean onion casserole cranberry sauce deviled eggs pumpkin pie pecan pie apple pie cheese cake Happy Thanksgiving

I've been a member here for six months... My first real introduction to the group was the 2024 Meet and Greet at @JCM 's house in September. It's kinda funny as I was figuring out how long I have been here, I looked at my first post. @87 416-8 horse mentioned something about eventually getting another tractor.... how prophetic he was! I've definitely found a good group of people here and gained a lot of knowledge on the ins and outs of these tractors. All while befriending some @ebinmaine and creating a camaraderie with many others. I have definitely benefited in more ways than one finding this site.

I’ve been here on RS since 2010 and don’t really do any other social media. Between here and the Big Show I’ve met so many like minded people, some becoming good friends. As a kid in 80’s I was thinking “I wonder if I’m the only kid that likes Wheel Horse tractors this much?” Then came the internet and I found out about the Big Show in PA and I went to the second show. As soon as I got there I realized that I’m not the only one that has such a strong appreciation for WH tractors. Since then I’ve only missed 3-4 shows. When I started on RS I had no idea how much of an impact it would have on my life. It’s certainly fueled my addiction to these machines. There’s so many nice and knowledgeable people here that never respond in a condescending manner, no matter what the question posted is. Advice given here always seems to be correct, unlike some other sites. Somehow it is self policing and not nice people don’t stick around here. For years I thought I knew a fair amount about WH tractors but then I joined here and still learn new things all the time. Anyway I’m thankful to be here with you guys, and I plan on sticking around for a long time!! God Bless.

On my recent 74 C120 that i Swapped a Magnum 12 into the sheet metal fit fine. The muffler from the 300/400 series doesn't work well i tried to raise the front hood 2 inches and that didn't help it has something to do with the hood width.. I went with the round pancake muffler and have no regrets.

your blade with the worn bottom edge can be saved and reused -- i obtained a couple of those - one i took to a fabricator welder shop and he welded an extension plate on the bottom and cut new carriage bolt holes in it to in effect create a viable new bottom to function like a new factory bottom -- then i bought new "wear edge blade" to then attach to the plow -- then i cleaned the rust from the entire blade front and rear surface then primed and painted -- the blade looked like new when i was done -- yes, the fabrication and weld job plus the new wear edge blade cost some $ but it rescued what would have been scrap metal and it resulted in a factory like new plow blade that will last many years

Hi there and welcome along to the wonderful world of Red Square. I am in the good old United States of England in South Yorkshire, by American standards you and I practically live next door. Lol I restored a well used (knackered) C-125 tractor a few years back. I bought it as a retirement project to have some fun with. It had been used amongst other things to haul slate in north Wales to build a traditional farmhouse. The rear hubs were worn and had been bonded to the axles with liquid metal. The front wheel bearings were so worn they had damaged the stub axles. The engine was sound but required a full overhaul. Several years of work resulted in FRED, my road registered and legal tractor. Complete with snow plow and dozer blade. Without the amazing folks at Red Square I would not have been able to carry out such an extensive restoration project. They helped me with every aspect, from the chassis and gearbox overhaul to the engine and electrics. This was Fred in front of the farmhouse he helped to build, carting slate over a mile down a rutted farm track for months. He had already been messed with, losing the rear mudguard/seat pan and gaining a roll bar. Welcome along and enjoy the show, we don't just talk tractors, most every problem can be solved at Red Square and a good chat is sometimes all that's needed. Mick

I'm considering a build that would utilize a 312-8 frame and 8 speed powered by a Magnum 12 HP engine. The front axle would be a splayed front from a 520H along with the Gear Reduction Steering. Purely from an aesthetics standpoint I'd rather see the mid 70s C Series hood and steering tower. The rear would be a 1976 + up fender and seat pan that doesn't tilt. Fuel tank under the seat like the later models. I know the Magnum engines are a hair taller than a K Series. From reading @Docwheelhorse posts and others, I believe the only hindrance would be the front hood height. That could be rectified by using a taller hood hinge. Easy to make by copying one of my 1974 C160-8 Tecumseh engine tractors. Anything else to account for?

We've got a pretty fair sized snow storm coming up on Thursday afternoon. We're on this red circle right on the 6" line. The BBT has been in GO MODE at home finalizing for us to move it. She reorganized the equipment storage including getting both plow mo-chines out. Got my 1975 C160 Automatic with the BIG 60 inch plow faced and ready. She changed the drive belt on her own 867 Pigpen. Installed the rear bracket, plow, and tire chains. She even had help from the chickens!! BRING IT ON!!!

A Happy Thanksgiving to you all. Today we had brunch at daughter's house. Tomorrow, at mom's request, Pam and I, my brother and his wife and mom will head to Branson, MO to watch Clay Cooper's Christmas show in celebration of mom's 89th birthday. Saturday will be the family Thanksgiving/Christmas. We will be hosting 22 people. Smoked brisket (catered), double smoked spiral cut ham (me) the usual vegetables, rolls and deserts including a blackberry & peach pie baked in the dutch oven that I'll cook while watching the smoker. The picture is from cruise a couple of months ago to Alaska.

Spending the day in Buffalo at my son's house. Some traditions are: Putting up his tree Replacing the lint sock on the washer. Clearing the sink drain in the bathroom. Fixing the recliner ( or replacing) Lightning of the Christmas pilot in the gas fireplace. Probably be back in a couple days if the wind shifts enough for snow blowing.

I guess this squirrel was trying to join us, we've been here for 25 years and never had this happen before! Happy Thanksgiving everyone, even the squirrels! C-85

Brake pivot ready to install. You will notice a yellow shim spacer on the bushing. I punched that out of plastic shim stock to take all slop out of the pivot but still allow it to rotate freely. A grade 5 bolt was used instead of stainless steel because I figured strength was more important than looks for this. Brake pivot installed.

Looks to me you have a bad connection to the breaker as evidenced by the blackened wire. If the breaker lug is not tight resistance will develop leading to heat. That leads to more resistance so a runaway train. The arcing is the connection trying to re-establish/maintain proper current flow. No what matter it's best to shut it down until proper repairs can be done. The whole load center should now be inspected including buss bars. ALL connections should be checked for tightness. Breakers are NOT interchangeable. While I agree with a good sparky with a well stocked truck keep in mind ya can't find good help these days.

I use regular exterior satin latex black paint from Lowes or Home Depot. Thin 50/50 with water. Best if sprayed on. Wipe any drips, runs, or sags with brush or rag. Best if done with tires dismounted.

In over 5 decades as an electrician likely the most important thing I learned is not to troubleshoot from afar. Probably the second thing is that there's far too many kinda, sorta wannabe electricians willing to give their 'expert' opinion. Just check out the Facebook 'master electricians' for some good laughs. DON"T GO THAT ROUTE. Get a qualified electrician to look at it and do whatever it takes to make it right. While this looks pretty cut and dry there very well could be more than what's obvious. Ya screw up plumbing you can dump water all over. Ya screw up electrical and you can burn houses and kill people.

AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!! Winter in Maine !!!! Been there, loved that !!! My 1972 Super Beetle loved it up there. Bought it new in Elsworth for $2500...hurst shifter and the trailer package. Drove it for 11 years.

I did the same thing on my 520-8 project. I used a piece of rod clamped into my drill press then screwed the knobs onto that and basically did the same thing you did. Knobs turned out great and since my tractors never sit outside they should stay looking good.

...and the rest is history. I'm so glad that back in November of 2009, the day before Thanksgiving, I was looking for a plastic dash for my 1977 B-100. I stumbled upon this site and the rest is history. So many friendships have been created just for the sake of finding a new dash. Today, the day before Thanksgiving 15 years later, I am truly thankful to have found RedSquare. 🦃

The BBT and The Bear have had a lovely meal all by themselves. Half a turkey breast smoked outside. There was also smashed sweet potato 🥔 , cranberry sauce, and some spiced veggies. 🥕🍠 Dessert was a fantastic pie 🥧 of a creamy cheesecake 😋 base with a pumpkin 🎃 upper layer. Oh and of course egg nog.

As a volunteer firefighter for over 36 years I have seen electrical issues start many fires. Personally I would not wait to get a LICENSED ELECTRICIAN. As you said before, you know several so call them! DON’T WAIT. Whatever you have to do extra for them because they are coming over on the holiday, it’s worth it. Please for the safety of you, your family and your home address this situation immediately.

@Maz91 @Brockport Bill gives a great example of what can be done to a plow blade. We got my BIG 60 inch plow from @wallfish several years ago. John had made it from a 42" originally with both sides added. He was using it on a predominantly asphalt surface and it did well. Here our yard is gravel/stone/aggregate and not level. After some use the lower section was bending. I got a blade from the jungle site for a skid steer. 1/2" x 4" x 60" I had to have a fabricator friend use special tools for the bolt holes because as it turned out the steel was the hardest they'd ever seen. I added some weld beads to various other places front and back and the whole assembly has been serving us quite well for a few seasons now.
