All: Yesterday, I got a call from my son asking if he could stop by to change the oil in his & the girlfriends cars, after he took her 3 boys to get haircuts. I had finished cutting the grass with the 854 & parked it to wash out the underside of the deck. All 3 boys showed interest in it, so...... Why not fire up the C81 too?? Good times.

Yesterday I spent the day at the Dacusville SC Farm Show, Wheel Horse was the featured tractor and Jacky @turnnleft and his family had an outstanding display. As I drove around the grounds I snapped a few more photos to share with you. Camping has changed a bit since the 1920s Lots of horses other than Whee4l Horses

I loaded one of the 953s onto my trailer, drove a couple hours to Dacusville, SC for a nice little show, drove it all day, took a bunch of pictures I've posted and enjoyed the day. First time in over a year that I have been able to do that.

Although some people (cough, cough) don't want me to activate the Horse Whinnie horn I inherited from roadapples at the WH show, I like to turn it on when young children come up to the tractors. I had a great time at our local steam show with the kids and the horn. The best are the ones that are real quizzical at they get near one. They tentatively touch a tractor and I make the horn sound. There eyes light up like it's Christmas morning.

always great to see the kids interested in the tractors --- bought the 312 in 1989 -- my son was on it immediately - - as well as helping underneath to install the plow -- my grandson began mowing with my 312 when he was about 6 --- it's 35 yrs later and my 17 yr old grandson has a 520hc and C165 -- and has done numerous rehabs with me -

I loosened the trans from the frame and we were able to jack it up enough to get the post in place. After pulling the plug and letting the engine rotate the transmission pulley with the starter for a bit, we pulled enough fluid down the fill tube to fire it up!

After a couple trips to the shop sitting and thinking I decided to see if i could remove the drive pulley so I could get the larger pulley closer to the motor. After a couple days tension with a puller and a shot of rust weld dissolver I finally got it off.

We started on Lawrence rd in Pownal. Walked about a mile and a half around Tryon Mt. Explored a feldspar mine that we didn't know about. VERY interesting place. Video below and some pics mixed in. We walked over to Bradbury mountain State Park along the border trail and others. Then back to the parking lot. Total mileage just under 6. Elevation gain almost 900 feet. The humidity was high and doing its best to snot beat me. Nearly succeeded bit eventually I won. I wanted to make sure I called out this Pic first. Note the ring around this tree about 3 feet up. There was a cable tied to/around it in the distant past that was part of the mining operation. It was pointed directly at the tall post/crane/derrick in the video. More mine pics. This is a Pound for loose large animals from a couple hundred years ago. Super cool van in the State Park lot. And the rest.....

Not today, but I finally remembered to take pictures, and we all know if you don't have pictures it didn't happen. Following my stroke I have been using a walker and don't have good balance, so lowering and raising the heavy ramp on my trailer was going to present a problem. I bought a pair of garage door springs, ten feet of PVC and a couple of pulleys and solved that problem for about $ 60.00. Works so well I don't know why I didn't do it years ago.

Unloaded a bunch of cr#p at the manure pile at our friendly neighbour farmer. So I got to drive a tractor and the weather is perfect at 23°C/73°F, no clouds, bit of wind. Good day in my book.

The troublesome NINE PIN CONNECTOR was an Onan connector and is unnecessary unless you plan to swap engines on a regular basis. The diagram below shows the wiring at the nine pin and many people have eliminated the connector and soldered their wires color for color with good results. The white wire begins at a 30 Amp fuse and terminates at the voltage regulator. It handles a great deal of current (amps) and results in the meltdown you have experienced. Hope this is helpful to you.

Worked on making some personalized Key Chains for a friend. I think they turned out well! 3D printed in 3 colors. The one I made for mine is not personalized. Always fun to be making something unique and useful. It is a small thing to do on a WH, but an easy way to finding the key on the key rack! Steve

These are the spindle bearings and seals that @Handy Don told me to get earlier this summer, and they worked great: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006KT1DKQ?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000BZ6XDW?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title These should be the bearings for the cross shaft: https://wheelhorsepartsandmore.com/?s=1515&post_type=product&dgwt_wcas=1 They sit steaked into the aluminum stands behind the cross-shaft gears. The shafts are NLA as far as I know. If you need the spindle shafts (the short vertical ones) I believe I have a set that is still good I'd be willing to set you up with. I just have to find them. If you need a cross shaft contact A-Z tractors. IIRC he had a few of them at the show. This is the manual for the 32-inch decks built between 61 and 67.

I looked at contents in carb cleaner. Mainly Acetone and Toluene which I had both products on hand from marine repairs. Made a 50/50 mix for my ultrasonic cleaner. Carb came out looking clean with debris in the bottom of the jar. Unfortunately I don't know how well it cleaned the carb as I have no spark issues I can't resolve on the K 161....

Yep that's the way I got mine, I was in El Paso for a few days and stopped in, they did the foot cast thing and they shipped my boots several weeks later, I put them on and as they say they "fit like a glove".

In between rain drops and doing 748 other things Trina got a coat of Rust-Oleum 2X Nutmeg color on a lawn ornament deer she's fixing up for my momma. She also started the destruction process on the old forest access bridge this morning. After a break I went out with her and we got it all shredded. Next June or July there'll be NO indication of any human activity here.

Went to the storage building and got all the 520H's and both 312's running. Did not start the 520HC as it is under a tarp with no battery. The Work Horse is currently fully disassembled so it was not started either. Quite a sound with the 4 Onans and 2 Kohlers all running at once. Yes, I had one of the big doors open for at least some ventilation.

What to do when your 1/2 done mowing and the PTO/deck belt decides to retire? Poke around up in the rafters till you find one that fits.

Had a marathon night in the garage last night working til well past midnight and then up at 5:30 to continue working on Alex’s puller project. I was out of work all week with a knee injury and went stir crazy so getting out there last night felt great. Haven’t had a stretch like that in a long time. The smiles on his face made it well worth it. I made a post in pullers if anyone wants to see it.

Worked my 414-8 with a 42” RD hard today. Mowed the in-laws place in preparation of an upcoming house sale. Had to mow the back twice to get it knocked down and looking good. If ya blow up the pic you can just see my WH waaay out back. She got a well deserved Rotella oil change when we got home.

Mounted the motor and grill plate and a couple of tires to check actual clearances. Decided to check out the fender while I was at it. Fenders are going to need some work to look right. Real wheel clearances are going to be good.

A little progress actually building. I cut some flat bar and tacked them in to keep the frame square, then I cut out the axle support brackets and drilled them with the largest bit I had. I had to hand ream to correct size. Tacked in the brackets to check the fit of the axle.

This was Steve’s father’s 702. We just got to Symco, WI tonight, and swung by his place on the way through this morning. I am loving the pinstripes on everything!
