I just finished this a few weeks ago. It is a good tractor now. 90% original minus the seat. This came from the big show this year.

Looks to me like an engine and leaf vac blower hanging on the back of the tractor

I had a dented up hood that came off my C160, I had been thinking about doing somthing like this for a while now, didn’t take long and was a super easy project.. what do you guys think?

That's a little puller! Glad you said modest! I used a 13 ton puller from work when I took the wheel off of my 1267. The pin didn't budge so I had to use a 24" Crescent wrench to turn the puller screw to shear the pin. No flip flops were worn with that puller around!

Hi Kevin, I believe you have to at least lift the motor a bit to get the lower shaft out. I’d replace the steering block while you’re at it. Brian from K+B Wheel Horse Parts should have it. The hardest part may be removing the steering wheel from the shaft. Recently I had to use two Port a Powers and a two foot long piece of 3/4” round stock that I hit with a sledgehammer.

Our good friend that does truck fabrication for a living was telling us all about the amazing qualities of anaerobic sealer and how they've pretty much switched over to using that almost exclusively. I bought some so they could use it on my truck when we rebuild the rear axle. I got thinking that might be good in the application here for trying to seal up the valve cover. I didn't realize that it can't be laid down on top of paint so I scraped the painted surface under the gasket for the breather off with a razor and then some sandpaper and then cleaned it with brake clean on a rag. Put the new base gasket in. All installed and setting to dry.

Yes it’s the motor/blower part for the trac vac system I cobbled together. I have no other parts for the plow. But what’s there looks barely used.

I agree with @Bill D. If you want to be sure that it’s not the deck causing the issue, disconnect the belt from the PTO pulley. If it still cuts out after that, it’s very likely a safety switch issue.

Dexron/Mercon works fine. Others have had good results with hyd fluid.

I got a little sears/craftsman tractor off Facebook this afternoon I believe it is a 7 or 8 hp Briggs engine turns over and was told it has spark. got it home and coated the underside in pennatration oil and let it soak and see that levers and buttons work in the morning I was told it is a 88 mini redo and I have pictures of it and the ID, I'm looking for a manual hopefully and maybe a year or whatever you can find, I will post in a few forums, thanks, and don't know if I can say the price but I cant say no for $50.i believe the id says some numbers but I cannot find much and I may not have the right front grille off a few pictures but I got no idea -Keaton

Putt Putt received a new 1/2”x71” belt from TSC today. It pulls a plow much nicer in the dirt! For all the plowing I’ve done to make it 6 years, I think I’ll keep trying my luck with Husky brand!

Driving up the toy hauler ramp, the drive belt was slipping a bit. I grabbed a 1/2x70 and 1/2x71 belt from the local TSC. The 70” fit Steve Oh Two and Putt Putt received the 71”. Perfect. I was blown away to see pinstriping on the HY drive pulley under the belt guard. Amazing! Notice too, this frame has been plated at the transmission mount. Good to know!

Once I drove the pin out, I used this modest puller to yank the wheel.

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes. Had a good day, though we didn’t do much. Had to work all day, then went out to the farm and checked all the cattle, we are still waiting on one calf to finish out the year so keeping a close eye on that. Didn’t get any seat time on anything last night, but did get a little bit of wrench time in on the old Farmall M I’ve got in the shop right now.

I once worked with a Design Engineer where she and 2 of her 3 daughters were Vegans. I asked her if they fought over the clippings when they cut the lawn....

Thank you everyone for the suggestions! @squonk, your tractor is gorgeous. I would love to drive it in the sunshine, but it is sooo fancy! I would trash it in an instant. HAHA!

I smoked a venison hind roast yesterday. It was seasoned with dry rub when we vacuum packed it. I took it out and smoked it at 150 for three hours, and foil wrapped it with the juice from the package and a bit of butter. I cranked it to 200 for two more hours. I then brought it inside and seared it in bacon grease before resting and slicing.

The eight speed Transaxles didn't change all that much from one year to the next. You have a 1986 so the 85-1993 is the manual you should use.

I mulch them in... mow more frequently to avoid thick build up. Same with leaves until too thick, then blown to piles, put in cans / bags for curbside pickup by city contractor.

Most of the time my grass clippings lay were the fall. This junk summer grass just lays on top and so I'll sweep if it starts building up. The swept grass goes on compost pile. My neighbor, who has never owned a home before, has a hard time keeping up with his grass. I usually sweep his yard a couple time a season and dump it under the trees by the fence row. I do this unannounced and he usually texts and thanks me.

Been moving a few decks around the garage. I’m out of room, so I ordered some more pallet racking to make a little more. That’s the hope anyway.

I have had 17 and 20 HP twin engines and never used them for mowing. IMO, they burn too much fuel and throw off too much heat to be used hot summer mowing. I do still have my 520H with a heated cab and a dual stage blower. It has only been used for snow removal. BTW, I use turf tires and rubber chains on the 312H for pushing the 48" snow plow, and I am amazed by the traction. And of course they don't mark up the paving on the 5 driveways i keep clear.

Model 416H. This has the Twin cylinder 16HP Onan engine and Hydrostatic drive. Hours are 685.....Bought this not running to fix up, put my extra snowblower on and bring back to life for someone........Did an extensive list of things to do that that included...... New tube in rear tire. Both front tires new New fuel tank shutoff valve, all gas lines and fuel filter New engine oil and filter New tranny oil and filter New air cleaner New non skid pads on foot rests/fenders New battery Installed new ignition module kit( coil, condensor, magnet, trigger module) Cleaned, lubed and greased everything Just an overall good checkout to make sure everything is good to go. Starts and runs fine. Did compression check on engine and both cylinders were 110psi As far as the single stage tall chute snowblower, Tightend and lubed up everything, one new pulley and put on a brand new belt. All great Have wheel weights mounted with new hardware and also have the chains to go with it. I do have the mule drive for a mower deck, but no mower deck goes with this unit.......... Have everything documented what I did and part numbers for future. Asking $1300 to start... Call/text Jim at 585-281-6434

Mercon is a Ford-branded ATF, it replaced Type F. It has since been replaced by Merc V which many consider to be inferior.

Check the wires going to your seat switch, if they have become disconnected or broken the switch will not know you are in the seat and will cut out your ignition when the PTO is engaged.

Sounds like a safety switch issue.

This looks like parts of a WH setup from Brinley that had a single frame configurable for a soil plow (with an optional coulter), or a crossbar with clamps to hold cultivator tines, or a frame holding an eight-disk harrow. Attaches using a sleeve hitch. I see the red main frame, soil plow, the cultivator cross bar (at far right with flange for attaching to the main frame), and the harrow frame (under the other parts with the slotted holes). Missing: soil plow depth adjustor, harrow discs, cultivator teeth, coulter. Here’s an image of a complete set:

The carboned and clean area on your piston is telling us something. When you first opened it up was their oil on the clean area. The clean area indicates there is some blowby. But that's not an instant death sign. My sons Kohler 312-8 looked somewhat like that 5 years ago and still mowing strong. I think when blowby gets to severe it can cause what look like carb problems. maybe someone else can comment on this. Sorry I didn't realize it was a Briggs.

I once had a total of 4 tractors and have sold two of those as my space is limited .I have kept the ones I liked and use the most. Its never a easy thing to do, but I tell myself I can always buy more I guess its akin to falling off of the wagon

I climbed up in my deer stand for the first time this year. A lot of doe and fawns on the move. I did see one really nice dark horned buck but failed to get a pic.

The early 520's had the charge wire go from the regulator directly to the battery wire on the starter solenoid with a 30 amp inline fuse. I don't know why the change to putting all the charge current through the 9 pin but I convert all of mine to the early style and have never had a 9 pin fail. I keep the 9 pin connector so I can swap engines between machines if need be.

Replaced the rear lights on the 418-8. Ordered a new seat and a set of used Simplicity slides based on a recommendation from @wallfish in an older post.

Technically I built and painted this the past couple days however I did install it today so I guess it qualifies.. Designed and built a ladder type thingy to acces the attic in our bedroom. I cut the steps with my plasma table and bent them in the benchvise. Welded everything together, bit of paint and there it is. No more climbing up flimsy household steps/stairs. Thanks for watching. Greetings from the Netherlands, Mark

Underside of hood painted. Not perfect, there are bubbles in the paint for some reason.

Hood sanded and spot putty applied to final level where holes were welded in and where there were dents. It is raining on and off for the next couple of days so I can't paint right now.

I always glue the lining to the band on the tractor. After cleaning the band I install it then spread the adhesive on the lining, slip it in place and set the parking brake and don't touch it for 24 hours.
