I had thirteen and now down to twelve.I had just bought two Black hoods plus all kinds of extras for two bills and saw a c160-8 and daggone another one showed up as an auto. I never run extra batteries but change them out. Just one year ago i was at high risk for death or being paralyzed due to a bacterial infection. It slowed me down a good bit and it down down and makes me think this stuff could be a burden to others.. My twelve hour days are more like four now Daughter is soon to graduate with an advanced degree and my wife is getting double knee replacement. You get old and give out and it can happen before you plan .You stay busy , but just with other things. I have a 314-8 as my main worker and God has blessed us with timely rains. Our soybeans might break 70 bushels based on what the yield looked like at 66 a few years ago. The grass just kept going. I said that I would always make sure two mowers were attached and ready, but I took all the decks off to store them tighter last fall. So this year it is mowing and working on the truck. That project was all done, but I forgot to clock the driveshaft and it is out of balance, I have it rigged on super heavy jack stands so it can be run off the ground and start with getting the driveshaft more balanced. We just keep running like before retirement but wity more stuff to do. Anyway , the wheel horses will probably be reduced to a short frame to drive an ice cream freezer , the 314, and the two 160's and maybe another worker. Oh, and a 520 with snow plow and,and,and....

Had my eye on these Father’s Day weekend. He still had them and I picked them up today. Shouldn’t need any tires for a while.

A few days ago we went on a hike across the street from our place. At the bottom/ right of the map there's a small village of foundation holes. All are field stone. We've found at least a half dozen buildings and a drovers road. 2 or 3 years ago we found a ridiculously interesting stream that had been lined on one side with a VERY well constructed stone wall. The area hasn't been inhabited for at least a hundred years and we've had some INCREDIBLY EXTREME weather since then including the great hurricane of 1938. I can't begin to comprehend the amount of HUGE water runoffs this stream has seen over the 150 to 200 years it's been in place. And it STILL holds strong. At the bottom of the map below I've noted where it is. The walled section is a good strong 3/8 to 1/2 a mile long accounting for all its turns. We'll never know specifically why it was built but obviously an early effort to control the flow for what we believe was not just damage control but possibly watering of the sheep or other animals. This is by far the smallest deer print I've ever seen. A mouse house in the middle of the cart road headed through the mountain notch. This is a MASSIVE pile of small to medium sized stones apparently set aside by a farmer. You can't see the whole pile in this picture. Piles like this were made for convenience to location. Possibly a building was here but unlikely judging from the sizes. Likely they're either set aside for future use or just to remove from the fields. Luna moth caterpillar. Did I ever mention that Trina finds fungus fascinating? Have a few mushroom pics. The rest of these pics are of the rock walled stream and a large steep boulder wall face we found ... and of course had to climb. Last is the view from the top.

Was a good day with the 856. Did a lot of trimming on over grown bushes. The 856 ran like a champ. very happy with it so far. I like this Jackson 7.5 better than the W/H brand. I have had most of them. just my 2 cents.

That was my Dad's 2x4, we were about the same height. As far as Submarines, the closest I ever got to one was the one that came to the Winterharbor, Maine Lobster Festival one 4th of July. I have been on the German "U" boat at Chicago's Musium of Science and Industry. I am too tall to be on one says the Navy.

The wire gauge you should use can very with the length of the wire as well as the power (Volts multiplied by electrical current) that is being used. @squonk posted a site that explains this very well. Here is a link to this site, https://jascoautomotive.com/automotive-wire-amperage-capacity-chart/ Thanks for posting this Mike.

As I understand it the annual flue we all are aware of and most get vaccinations for is an offshoot of the 1919 flue epidemic. It never went away, just keeps morphing into another version of itself. It appears the Covid 19 virus is going to do the same.

Not only will they look good they will not blow off when transporting and provide easy access to compartments under them.

I added a front hitch to the 310-8. I have one on the 312 that is centered on the mule drive, but it is not visible from the seat. I wanted one that was visible from the drivers seat for exact positioning when hooking up. This worked out really well and doesn't interfere with the deck, mule drive, steering, or hood opening.

Folks like @AMC RULES and @stevebo and all you other Patina lovin' types would be proud o' me on this build. I've been concentrated pretty hard on getting NO new paint except the wheels. There's a fair amount of parts swapping for this Beast to use the best mechanical but still original of everything I have around. This afternoon I commenced to repair on a seat and fender pan. I took into account the overall color, patina, and how difficult it was gonna be to straighten whatever fender I used. This is one from another C160-8 Tecumseh Horse that'll be a candidate for a full restoration later on. I also borrowed a brake drum and shoe from the parts shelf. The shoe had some gunky grease so I laid out a whole can of brake clean and scraped off the shoe surface. Installed that, adjusted the park brake. The list is getting shorter!!

Check the shaft that the 2 brackets that the gage wheels bolt to for a twist. If those 2 brackets are not parallel when looking at them side to side, one side of the deck will ride a bit higher than the other.

Look for any excessive wear on the attach-a-matic parts or the corresponding attachment area on the deck. Also don't rule out a bent deck or bent area where a spindle attaches. When when i refurbished the 42" SD deck for my sons 312-8 I had to do a bunch of heating straightening with a rosebud torch. The PO had hit something and while there wasn't a big dent, the whole deck was bowed and the blades were not even due to the spindle area being bent. 1st try checking all blade tips to be the same height above a flat surface check with the blades side to side and front to back. You can shim a spindle with a washer if needed, but best to try and straighten.

Vacs don't "prevent from catching it" They lessen the symptoms if you get it. I got a booster last year and was sick for a day in a half from it. Will be getting it again along with the flu jab. Have to for work. To each his own but don't whine if you don't get it and land in the hospital.

Keen eyed viewers may have already noticed that besides adding the 'hoof path' plow I also made some changes to the rear of the cultivator. Originally it had two guide wheels in the back to (help) set the working depth on the machine. Since the cultivator is used to maintain a horseriding arena I was looking for a way to break up the soil a bit more after the cultivating tines did their job. So I started searching for a crumble roller or tube roller but found out that these were highly sought after and about $300-400,- used. You know me.. better make something myself then.. Since I have a CNC-plasma machine why not use it? Made a design in CAD and started cutting. Some time later I had four disks on my workbench and started assembly. 8mm/~1/4" rebar was used to make the "crumbler". Welding everything up. The main challenge is to keep everything square and true. With use of the CNC-plasma track and some Fireball Tools this went fairly well. Bearing blocks were added on each side. Eyeballing what the attachment of the roller to the cultivator should look like. Almost done here. I cut off the wheels and used the now leftover round stock to extend the original depth setting axle. The roller is wider than the old guidewheels. Some flat stock leftover from shortening the original cultivator was used to make the new arms to which the roller attaches. Not pictured here but I added a gusset from the arm to the depth setting axle for more ridgidity. Time to test. I'm happy to report everything went about as good as I had hoped. The cultivator now leaves an even and almost fluffy bed for the horses to ride on.

Terry has made me at least 8 full sets of tractor decals and the decals for all my attachments but for some reason he did not want to do these. That is all right, these look fine. Never see them with the hood closed anyway.

Let me know if you can’t read my scrawling and those stops are about 1/16 to 3/32” thick. Like washers welded on there. Rod itself is 3/8” diameter.

Ya, @stevasaurus is about an inch or ten taller, guess he must have had a butt lift. Hard to imagine a guy that big being on a submarine, guess the Navy must have put a 2X4 under the seat at his workstation and turned the stirrups around too.

I do not speak Spanish but am using a translator found on the internet. We do not have any other active members in Spain so I will do what I can to be of assistance. Be sure to check the condition and tightness of your battery cables including grounds. If any of them are bad it will reduce the voltage going to the starter. Another place to check would be the brushes in the in the starter, they may need to be replaced. I hope this is helpful.

I know most people are not aware of this, but I was born with my butt pretty close to the ground. It never changed much. I did a little fitting to make the Steve Oh Two fit my frame a bit better. The stirrups were pretty low. I turned them up a bit to grab my heels. Shorts and boots, man! Or flip flops, those are acceptable. The seat has a 2x4 under it and it gave my butt too big a lift kit. For the sake of keeping it around, I relocated it under the spring. If ever I grow a half a foot, I can put it back The seat is much closer to the fenders now, but it doesn’t rub when I’m on it.
