11 pointsWell this show is under the belt. We packed up and headed out Saturday afternoon. @Achto had to load up and head to his pull which was about 30 minutes away so there went all the fun. Much to everyone's dismay lots of exhibitors & fleamarketers were packing up. The threat of severe thunder boomers didn't help. @jeremi3210 decided to pack up so there went our last camp mate. We decided to too. No fun doing it with everything wet tomorrow. David Brown @new2horses on a Pond lever steer that very badly painted green but much of the original red showing through. @wheelhorsemanwith with @prondzy inspecting a unique ride around Lowell brought. Found a cool hat for Poo Poos in the flea market

3 pointsI had a carb leak on one of my RJs K-91 Kohler with a brass float in the bowl. I tool off the carb to inspect and clean. This has a Clinton type air filter in it but has been a reliable starter and no issues for ten years. checked bowl and float no holes. The needle did not drop out of carb right away and may have been stuck. I am not sure if it was obstructed or stuck all the way. Is brake cleaner a good solvent to clean the head of the needle? I hear they can get a film on them from gasoline etc. Going to put back together and try it out again before I do any other changes with the carb. Air cleaner was pretty well dirtied up so going to be putting a new Puralator on it ! That might have contributed to problems!
-
3 pointsA good quality brake cleaner would work but why not use carb cleaner. I'd be more concerned what the seat looked like.

3 pointsSo an update on the Traeger. Turns out it wasn't the hot rod that was defective. It was the fan. Got it all figured out now and made some ribs in it yesterday.

3 pointsGot the rolling chassis degreased and pressure washed yesterday. The steering was surprisingly tight considering the age but as long as I have it this far I'm going to put bushings in it. I picked up a new 6472 bearing for it as well. I made new tie rods not long before the engine issue. Just for giggles I picked up some 6000k led bulbs for it.

3 pointsBeing a grandparent is the best of all worlds. There's no downside to it! So much fun when they're little and really miss having young'ins around. Now the granddaughter starts her senior year of college and the grandson just graduated HS and starts college in the fall. Man did that go by too quickly. We're lucky enough to be involved in their lives every single day since the day they were born. We had bought a 2 family house together so we all live on the same property. One of the best moments was making it on to their kindergarten stick figure artwork of their family. Yeah, I came in after their dog Sophie and on the curve down edge when they run out of space on the paper but still made it. LOL

2 pointsI just got a wheel horse 310-8 tractor with a snowblower, the ultimate show plowing mechine, it has a 42inch snow blower, rear plow mount on it, a cab, wheel weights and chains and lights on the cab, did they come standard with them? and aren't cabs kind of a rare option? and is there any other form of id on the wheel weights than the sticker? I don't have it home yet, I was about 3 hours away at a grandparents house, and went to a auction there. I got that wheel horse for $600 I feel like I got a decent deal.it runs and drives thought all gears something in the back squeaks a bit I think or something does and it has 1400 hours on it.. I will go get it soon.

2 pointsSo I finally got home from visit with in laws and had my buddy Ken b come over and help me swap out the tranny with the one out of a 520 with only 324 hours. Thanks again Ken! Swap done and she is a real nice unit!! Next step it to clean it up. I wet sanded and buffed hood and it looks real good. IMG_7642.mov

2 pointsMost of my machines are hydro and only ever had one hose fail. That one was rubbing on a steering gear. The only other leaks i ever seem to have are hose or valve o rings.
-
2 points@Sparky I was wondering if you could give me a lifespan possibility on this boot.
-
2 pointsBased on the corrosion in that float bowl I'd replace it. Use Briggs PN 221995.
-
2 pointsYes, carb cleaner will better clean those deposits. The spray straw directed into all holes is a good cleaning tool but use a face shield.

2 pointsWent out for a Walk with Dwarfnose... The grass is still higher than his 76cm shoulder height but can‘t be mowed because of lot‘s of water. A little Pond in the Grass what is about 20cm deep on some spots up to 40cm deep! Hopefully it will dry the next few Day‘s. two valley‘s ahead the had hail what destroys nearly the whole Cornfield.

2 points@Sparky here i have a actual closer Pict to my Beltcover. If you look little closer on the Upper front, you can see that i shortened the Cover at about 1,5cm. than i grinded down and rewelded the lower Beltsupport at this 1,5 cm backwards. The upper beltsupport was scratching the Belt. To prevent this i cut the cover app. 3 cm deep and mold it little upwards an welded a piece of Sheetmetal like a gently Wave. when exactly look at this Pict in the Front you can see my „ lift“ on the front of the Beltcover.

2 pointsLooks like the lights were added by the previous owner. Some came with a single light on the top. The glass wind sheild with a wiper was also an option.
-
2 pointsIt looks to me like your input pulley on the trans is a bit rusty. If the engine drive pulley is like that also, they might be your issue. Clean them up with a wire wheel, wipe them with Mineral Sprits and wipe the belt also. The guide on the tention pulley is just fine...it just keeps the belt on that pulley.
-
2 pointsJust removed the Chemo pump for hopefully the last time! Now to get through the side effects and getting back to normal again. Then on to the MRI for final outcome before surgery. Thanks to all for your prayers and support throughout the journey. Jay

1 pointAge? Somewhere between late middle age and early decrepit? Definitely past full retirement age!

1 pointI’ve seen leaks at the connections, but at 700 psi, these hoses don’t fail. This must be from friction somewhere on the hose to wear it through. The units with 1100’s I’ve touched all had hardline tubing from the pump to the valve with hoses only valve-to-cylinder and friction relief where they pass through tins.

1 pointMike. What I have found is when everything is working perfect and adjusted right you will have a whistling sound when it comes to a stop. This when it right. And of course a Wheel Horse belt because of how they fit. I only run these belts. They have never failed me.
-
1 pointWhen i swaped my 656 to the Predator i had frew things to solve. 1. the original Beltcover was not further usable as before because it gently scratches on the Pulley soi decided to find out how this beltstop exactly works. I had firstly lots of trouble with a continouse gently friction of the Belt on the Gearboxpulley - it wouldn‘t stop. So the Clutch won’t work corectly and the Brake engages too early. First after i adjusted on the Gearbox the Guard over the Gerabox littlebit to front as John suggested ( what is welded on your Side) it begins to keep the Belt tighter but there was also still friction on the Belt while clutch was despressed. A closer inspection shows me that both - the upper belt support and the lower belt support as in this picture from Mike be good visible must be as close as possible to the Belt without touch it when clotch is engaged. first if the Clutch is pressed the belt moves out and hits firstly the lower belt support. The upper Belt support was important to keep the Belt in shape and not be too sloppy. After my tests and tries i found a good setting (similar to that Pict from Mike) it worked as it should without any noise. after that i remodeled the Sidecover a bit to fit to the new bigger Pulley. that worked like a charme now for over 2 years. a gently deformed cover let sometimes the pulley on the Gearbox gently scratching the Cover That was removed with a Washer on the rear to get little more distance between pulley and Cover.

1 pointMade one for the rat rod Suburban. Didn't have a belt guard however if I did it wouldn't work anyway. Predator 212 & RJ transmission that's lowered on frame.
-
1 pointCarefully drill a 1/16" hole on the seal ring. Insert tiny sheet metal screw. Pull it out with vise grips. 8 spd transmissions have 1 weak spot. The hi lo shifter fork bends and breaks easily and is NLA

1 pointToday we return three (12, 8, and 3) to their parents after a week here at our house. Right now taking a coffee break from the scavenger hunt for their clothes, shoes, toys, books, etc. It’ll be interesting to hear how they adapt back to having bedtimes and not having their favorite foods at every meal--we grandparents are good at messing with the status quo, aren’t we?!
-
1 pointI use this. I built an adapter to put forks on instead of the bucket. I then built a rack. Now I can move and store 3 decks at once. Shown in picture are 3 SD decks, 42",48", and 60". Tractor cost a bit of money but has paid for itself many times over with work performed and in possible injuries avoided due to exertion. You simply don't need to lift a heavy load when you have a loader to do it for you.
-
1 pointAnd I'll bet you'd store them for free too. The generosity of some folks.....

1 pointThis is Rob, his son Jason is on the WHCC board. We’ve been friends now for a good amount of years and he loves giving me a hard time about my loader project! He video bombed me while I was trying to start my new B-120. The recoil wasn’t playing nice with others.

1 pointSeven Fifty Me 753, sickle mower machine. Front mower for looks at the time, but an 80” wide cut would be sweet! I found a spot where the tube was popping through the tire, so I tossed a spare on before it went bang.
-
1 pointAlso brought home this 856… which has found its way to someone in Massachusetts already. The 857 can be seen photo-bombing in the background
-
1 pointC’mon guys! All the “new” rigs bought at the WHS last week should be generating some fresh Front End Friday and Side Shot Saturday pics. 857 (bought at the show)

1 pointOnce again, I want to thank Trina, @ebinmaine’s wife for her work to put together another 12 months of Wheel Horse Calendar. The effort is greatly appreciated by all of us here on RedSquare! As always, the calendar is free to download. Thank you Trina so much for your beautiful work!
