12 pointsAn intrepid reporter for a dairyman’s magazine was driving down a country road enroute to a farm to gather information on a new milking innovation when he spots a farmer standing in the middle of a huge field of grass. Having an appointment to keep the reporter continues on his way. After interviewing the dairy farmer and taking several photos for his article the reporter headed back to the big city to publish his story. As he passes the same field, he notices the same farmer standing in the same spot. Being a curious reporter, he pulls the car over to the side of the road and notices that the farmer is just standing there, doing nothing, looking at nothing. The reporter gets out of the car, walks all the way out to the farmer and asks him, "Ah excuse me mister, but what are you doing?" The farmer replies, "I'm trying to win a Nobel Prize." "How?" asks the reporter, puzzled. "Well, I heard they give the Nobel Prize . . . to people who are out standing in their field."

7 pointsJust picked up this 1972 Raider 14 today. Its been sitting outside for at least 5 years. Guy I bought it from at a rental property of his, said it was a old guy that owned it and he died a couple years ago. My plans with it are see how it runs (motor is free) and I might swap out the the 14hp into my 73' that was originally a 14hp but has a 12hp now. And then I am thinking of lowering it and swapping pulleys out to make it faster. It will get paint of some kind as well. Deck is there and I pulled it off but it's a bit of a mess, blades are locked up.

7 pointsGot my stack that I purchased at big show on the 953. Gonna order the shorter stack he makes/sells for my 753 soon.

5 points"Do I look Like I've put on weight?" Sorry for the drama gang, My tractor is feeling a bit conscientious. I was finally able to get to a scale and see what we weighed together. Our target combined weight of this team is1050lbs. Below is what we tipped the scales at. What I found was either me or this tractor had to gain 85lbs. We discussed the situation and decided that there was a slim chance that I would be able to gain the weight in the next couple weeks, so it was up to the tractor to pack on a few lbs. Next questions what to use for weight and where to put it? To answer the first part of the question, I had some more 3/4" x 6" flat stock laying around that I wasn't using. So I grabbed my trusty 4 1/2" grinder and hacked out some slabs. Also found a piece of 3/4" X 4" to hack up as well. All of this added up to 73lbs. Now the second part of the question, (where to put it?). Well this tractor happened to have a tool box under the seat that I wasn't using. . This spot would be perfect as it would put all of this added weight directly over the rear axle. Before adding the weights I cut some strips of wood to suspend the slabs over the contours in the bottom of the tool box. The stack of slabs fills the tool box up perfectly. I drilled some holes in the top 4 slabs & bolted them together to ensure that they could not work their way out of the tool box. The remaining 12lbs was added to the dumb bell bar in front of the rear wheels. Soo other than a few counseling appointments to get the tractor over it's weight gain complex, I think this team is ready for competition.

5 pointsSwapped the seat out on the 857. I know it’s not original but it’s in better shape and is plenty comfy mounted up in the small U shaped springs. I’m long legged so I appreciate the added height which gives me a bit more leg room. Gave the seat pan a Flood Penetrol treatment as well.

4 pointsWired up a kill switch and adjusted the throttle and governor on the K90 551. Short road test proved the double heat shield worked well. Recoil is off as it needs a new handle.

4 pointsI just finished the 5th round of Chemo. One more to go! Last treatment will be July 11th. I am scheduled for an MRI the 25th of July to determine if treatment was successful for surgery. Blood work is still looking good and i have lost 5 more lbs.

4 pointsRun the piston all the way down and measure the bore. The measurements can be found in the Onan Service Manual on page 3-1, they are a bit confusing, just go by the amount of taper specification. 600 hours isn't much but abuse is the major cause of failure. Abuse is not changing oil, oil and air filters, running with fins plugged and a missing oil filter gasket that should seal the opening around it. New rings and a hone might take care of it but check for play in the valve guides.

4 pointsA while back, I made up a bearing and seal removal / driver tool for @Handy Don, as he was going thru his RM-366. Use it with no stop pin for bearing / seal removal, Stop pin in upper setting installs the lower beaings, leaving the proper gap for the seals. Move the pin to lower hole to install the seal and the upper bearing..... The tool has the "proper" recommended negative angle to contact the outer rounded edge of the bearing shell. Do not use a socket!!! It installs them squarely with little effort. The tapped hole allows you to draw them in with a bolt & washers if you have neither a press nor a vise with sufficient opening.

3 pointsGot the running fleet out today to stretch and take some pics! Also got the hood back on the Suburban after some crack repairs and got it running again with a new glass bowl. Unfortunately I did this after I put the rest of them away so it didn't make the fleet pic. IMG_5170.mp4

3 pointsContact K and B Horse P, he's on eof our vendors. I seem to recall his clutch material may be slightly thicker that the Toro material. https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/forum/177-kb-horse-parts/

3 pointsWell I added a D160 to the mix. I really wanted that snowblower. Now I just need a belt for it. I've got the D200 running pretty good. Haven't gotten the FEL to move yet though. I freed up the pump, my thought is I need to rebuild the control valves.
-
3 pointsGood point! I just gave this one a rub down with Penetrol today.
-
3 pointsJust my unqualified opinion: I would button it back up and run it a while to see what it's doing first. Do a compression test on both cylinders. I'm no mechanic, but with 600 hrs combined with that kind of blowby, your piston should be a mess, and it isn't. An Onan that sits a while can do some weird stuff. It might be perfectly fine as is.

3 pointsVery cool! If you find that disc and plow not fitting in, we might meet again at the show next year! I seem to always be looking for more “house” supplies for this plow day event I find myself in

3 pointsWhat is my "free to me" seat doing on a B80? LOL I just taped (reupholstered) one up that would fit perfect on that tractor
-
3 pointsHere goes! Fingers crossed! Holy filaments...says only 5 hr 6min...fast!

3 pointsWell I am fairly happy with the results going to use some 2000 grit sandpaper real lightly on it then we will see if it holds gas. Used a black ziptie to add plastic. I used a soldering iron to do all this I used it in the v groove before even adding plastic to try to get that crack welded.

3 pointsDug out my 77 B-80/8speed today. She has never run well on the Chinesium/Amazon carburetor. At the big show last week K&B Wheel Horse Parts had rebuilt carbs with brass floats for every motor imaginable. Snagged one for this Kohler 8, installed it this afternoon and she is running sweet! @76c12091520h

2 pointsI thought that I had a stuck/frozen choke cable on my 314-H. After removing the cable from the engine, I slipped a 6-inch length of 1/4-inch fuel line over the cable and attached it with a screw-type hose clamp. With the end vertical, I filled the fuel line with marvel oil (less than a teaspoon) and let it drain into the cable. It only took a few seconds. There was little mess. The lubrication should last several years. My problem was a stuck choke shaft in the carburetor. Loosened it with a few drops of marvel.
-
2 pointsAll I can say is that with this tool it was TOO easy! The removal and setting took almost no time at all with no risk to the bearing structures or doubt about placement. I sorta couldn’t believe it was done. I did use a vise to assure straight pressure.
-
2 pointsCable treatment with MMO is a regular service item for me - they get removed, positioned vertically and MMO added. I do this at least every year & a half - both tractors see 4 season use....
-
2 pointsJust a reminder, if you or a friend have a 3d printer, 3d stl files are available in the manuals section! Our OEM hood ornament replacement, headlight lenses for c series and 78 79 fiberglass hoods, the gt14 dash and console plates, and D series dash plates are all there! Must be a RedSquare supporter to download, but it is a thank you to all of you on RS that helped develop replacements to keep the tractors equipped and helped to grow our business.

2 pointsunbelievable.....and when two trains pass at 150 mph + it is like getting buzzed by a fighter jet. I was only in the Alps once. It was a holiday and our host ask it we wanted to go up and have lunch at a cottage. We drove winding back and forth for 3 hours. Left with a polo shirt 72 F, and when we got to the cottage people we going by on skis.
