I have probably posted this before, but I built this sandbox for my grandson when he was pretty little and now my granddaughter loves it. I keep it in the shed and can just move it out in the yard or the shop when the weather turns cold!!

All too common. There WAS a reinforcing kit from Toro, but is now NLA. Make your own. Reinforcing goes on the opposite side, not between frame & Unidrive. Pictures of my C81 with plate and diagonal braces...

Guys, I just realized I did not post many pics of the 1984 Work Horse GT-1600 Refresh after I finished it. This thread kinda went off the rails and I apologize for not trying to keep it on track. So here ya go…

You never know what you can find in the scrap yard. It's a long story so I won't bore with the details unless you all want a sermon. However, the moral of the story is if I get it running and operating again, it's mine.

Time for some leaf pickup.

Main Mowerdeck was hard at its limit with the extremly high and wet Grass. Chewed it more than mowing.. At least i decide to stop it and cleaned up the Mowerdeck for its Winterbreak. Than i mounted the Plow frame under the Horse for the „Massacre Mower“. Finalized it‘s massacre in the Background. With a new Belt all is fine.

Wonder if the second Kevin was wearing flip flops ?

@BPEisenhower I spent quite a bit of time on one of those, gear driven machines. One thing that I was told about before operating was don’t hold the outside blade lift controls tight in your hands. I found out why when the levers ratcheted back and forth very rapidly. I was told they have broken a few wrists? I have this parts manual you are welcome to, however it doesn’t look like the serial numbers jive. This manual was published in 1957.

Today I gave it a good pressure wash.I think it cleaned up pretty well 👍 Brought it in and tore into it.Had no spark,cleaned up the points, issue solved. Replaced the head gasket,was blown out pretty bad but the cylinder looked great and no piston slop at all 😮 I think I may have gotten lucky on this one.It’s always a crap shoot with a non runner. I think the trans is ok but won’t know for sure until tomorrow once I get it running.

"Our" Kevin is obviously more handsome and buff - I say that totally in a hetero, admiring Bro kinda way But yeah, they do look enough alike to cause a double-take. I've had people tell me I look almost exactly like someone else they know. I guess with 8 billion people on the planet it's difficult for our looks to be totally unique. For those who have kids, grandkids, or have otherwise seen the animated movie "Madagascar", it reminds me of when the zebra from the zoo gets to Africa and is standing in a large field of zebras, and says, "I'm unique! ....Just like everyone else....."

Been tinkering around with hydraulics. Changed the mounting point for the pump, lowered it. Testfitted the pump. Seems good for now. Next I moved to completing the hydraulic tank. Welded an intake and outlet bung on and a flat spot for an oilgauge. Last but not least I found a spot for the inline oil filter and made up a clamp for it. Trina and her mom are working on closing in the barn shed areas a little. This near side will be half closed. The far side will be completely shut in. They're spacing out the bottoms of the horizontal boards about ½, ¾ of an inch to allow good airflow for wood drying.

Cracks are welded on both sides . Mating surface ground flat . I might come up with a way to reinforce it but I had to get the trany back on so I can move it . Next we have to weld the cracks on the dash tower . The Tractor is 57 years old and will have many more years left in it.

Because - once it's gone, it's gone for good. Evenn a busted up roller can become repurposed "Yard Art"

Once you've repaired it properly and added some beef it'll likely never move again. Remember to grind the rust out of those cracks if you intend to weld into them. Do feel free to post pics of your repair. It's great to see someone fixing building maintaining instead of scrapping.

Here are the first Wheel-A-Matics. 1965 was first year of the automatics. Offered in the 875 and the 1075. One of each pretty much unmolested.

I started putting a 8 speed 1.1/8 inch axle transmission in my 1056 and found this . Time to break out the welder . The extra 2 holes are to tie in some extra metal . So hopefully this doesn’t happen again .

I was waitin’ for someone to bring that up. I added a socket to the camp tractor because there is no electricity there. Mowing time is charging time!

And who needs a cigarette lighter anymore?!

So todays, and possibly tomorrow too- the job is installing a new 16x7 garage door and opener. Delivery guy is a service tech for Wayne Dalton and started giving me the spill on difficulty, having the right tools , etc. I told him I can screw it up cheaper than I could pay him to screw it up…

The actual flywheel DOES NOT have a screen. It’s just the large screen that wraps the entire side of the engine as stated.

Can you link that info here? Why not use tubes? I now install tubes in every tire I swap, new or used. It makes setting the bead a non issue and fluid filling easier to accomplish. I don't see a negative to using tubes... BUT.... we don't have sharp thorns or things to cut tires other than occasional rocks.

I would like to get anything on that machine! Send you cash certified mail! Many years ago my uncles owned a blacktop business and I spent many weekends and summers in the seat busting knuckles... Learned quickly to push or pull with force and still smack the glass. This one is a 1959 model and close to the end of that model. I wish it was a pony start but am happy with what it is. Been parked 15 years all because the parking brake failed. 14,520 hours and not dead yet.... Thank you!!

After @WheelHorse_Kid pulled a few weeks ago his older brother Aiden has shown a little more interest in tractors. For those who don’t know him Aiden was my right hand man in the garage for years til he hit those preteen/teen years. His world revolves around baseball and plays 3 outta 4 seasons and practices in the off season. So it’s nice to see him back out in the garage and hopefully gets re bit with the horse bug. This late gray 60’s hydro that they got in a package deal that they purchased last winter with all their own money was his goal. Well today he took it for its first spin under its own power. Not the correct motor but still looks to be the correct horsepower. He’s currently out there in the driveway working with Alex and they are taking the plow off. The previous owner did not have a plow bracket so he installed the rod into the hitch on the back and then cut a hole in the fender pan for the turning arm. It’s missing a belt guard but I think I have one kicking around. He says he wants to keep it gray. Someone did a great job of free handing the decal area and even on the plow itself.

My Prayers for those people in Maine that are a part of this tradgety. I consider myself a small part Mainer from my days there in the Navy. I know the whole state is like a small, friendly community. The healing process for this will take a very long time. Just know that you are not alone...this stabs us all in the heart.

The extra turns on the steering wheel is worth it… feels like power steering..

Thank God the shooter killed himself and no law enforcement people were injured. I will never understand why these mentally disturbed individuals feel the need to kill and injure innocent people rather than just taking their own lives. So many families have suffered senseless losses, Dear Lord please be with these families.

That’s a great compression reading! I would think a 1976 k181 would have the compression release cam. So how did you get an engine compression reading? School me!

I left the extra stick up it was not a problem. The difference on the FEL was significant. It is a two to one and helped a lot with a load in the bucket. As for cutting grass, there would be twice as much turning in tight areas but is is easy and if that is what you are looking for it is a win. the Duke had an old post about taking slop out of one of these set ups to use on a snow blower machine. interesting use of shims

I've had good results with the Carbole pumps on 2 of my tractors. I believe they have a PSI limiter and a check valve to stop backward flow.
