10 pointsSo today I was able to get up to the antique machinery show in Kent, CT. I saw a vendor I knew who had a super original 604. He told me years ago he drove it into his barn and it has been sitting. I assume it was sitting for at least 15 plus years but did not ask. ended up buying it and after messing with cleaning the carb I got it to fire and run very well. I will spend some time making it like I want it. So surprised how well that little tecky runs! IMG_1567.mov

8 pointsWith the start of fall the last of our tomatoes are of the cherry variety. A bumper crop to boot. The wife cut up and quartered the tomatoes, fried up and chopped the bacon, added chopped lettuce and steered in mayo. Made like a BLT sandwich spread. Pretty convenient and good on toast.

6 points1952 M37 with winch 3/4 ton Engine is a Chrysler Dodge DeSoto Plymouth 230 ci Flat head six. ( Most the bolts are marked DDCP) Used in civilian vehicles from late 30s to 1957. (to include the Dodge power Wagons ) I rounded up most the parts. The Piston rings were in original packaging ...1953.

5 pointsI believe you need a certain amount of posts before you can PM. @Lil’ Pullstart and I have gotten along with using shower handles. It might be worth checking out your local hardware store for options.

5 pointsNothing wrong with a Predator. I also happen to have a 1960 Suburban 400 with a 6.5hp Predator in it. Did a little work to the engine & now it's pushing about 8.5hp at 3600RPMs. Fun little tractor, had to make a set of wheelie bars to keep it from flipping over backwards when you grab a hand full of throttle.

4 pointsWe waved instead. After sleeping on it, I've cone to the conclusion that the relatively close proximity of the thing, the presence of a camera, and not knowing who was operating it were what created the 'creep' factor. If it were somebody floating on an inner tube in the same spot, we could have at least traded greetings verbally. Might be that I am turning into a grumpy oil man, too. You know "GET OFF THE GRASS!".

4 pointsShe is only a couple year younger than I... but this is probably the last major project I am going to do. The parts are getting heavier and getting up from under her and contorting in the cab is getting harder. Sticking to WH overhauls in the future... Easier and considerably cheaper. Complete overhaul, took several months at the machine shop but he does great work. Always some interesting classic /collectable cars in there when I visit. Engine has landed but now a lot of hooking stuff up and reconstructing the front clip. All done by myself...tired now today time for cocktails...

4 pointsMy wife found one hovering above her while hanging laundry on the line once. You know we don’t have many neighbors… once she spotted it, it flew off. She leaned a shotgun against the clothesline pole for a few weeks after that during laundry time. It could easily have become a clay pigeon!

3 pointsI can never leave anything alone so I had Richie send me a raw one and I painted the wood black and put some red lights I had laying around inside. I’m happy with how it turned out. Will go on my desk at work
-
3 pointsI had to make a belt guard to work with the Predator engine on mine. Also added a belt brake on top of the tension pully to help stop the belt. Then the new guard went through a rusting process so that it would match the rest of the tractor.

3 pointsAny aircraft is governed by laws that will have you in a heap of trouble if you harm it, doesn’t matter if it is manned or not. There are laws about flying over people so check if those laws are violated and then turn them in to get the harassment stopped.

3 pointsA Google search for a 1 1/4" exhaust tip might find you some results. @jimkemp We have a new member looking for assistance.

3 pointsThis is why we live in the woods. Shouldn't have to deal with something like this. Don't even get me started. Sorry you had to deal with invasion of your enjoying life.

3 pointsto You may need to be a supporter member to use the PM . I can't remember the specifics. Check out store, support RS.

3 pointsThose seat springs have a bad design that loads most of the weight to one area of the seat pan. The seat pan wasn't designed with enough strength and the load causes stress cracks. I got the cracks welded up then added super-strut to keep that seat pan from being flexed in the future.

2 pointsHello to all! Here’s my grass cutting 1980 C-165. I restored it about 15 years ago. I am waiting for new carbon fiber decals from Redo Your Horse to complete the look. I installed the aftermarket Gravely style muffler as recommended from member Brian Koch. No problems there. I took his recommendation on the NAPA by Prime Lime muffler for quality. It certainly is and fit perfectly on to the 1” pipe nipple (see pics). It’s a big improvement over the pepper shaker. I like to finish off with a short curved stack on the 1-1/4” outlet. I understand member Jim Kemp does stacks. I can’t message him because I’m a newbie. Any ideas and help to contact Jim would be appreciated.

2 pointsThe first question is how far has the rot spread? Since a wheel and bracket rusted off, there is a very good possibility that there are other advanced rusty spots on the deck. Rust repair can be done by cutting out the rusty areas and welding new sheet metal back. For an 'invisible' repair, the new sheet metal needs to be formed to match the original contours of the deck.
-
2 pointsYep one of Jim K's tips would look good on there. Hopefully he'll chime in ang and get you one.
-
2 pointsRight there with you Paul. Once I could throw a bundle of shingles on my shoulder and climb up a ladder, then it became a half bundle, they must be making them heavier! Now I don't even climb the ladder unless it is an emergency!

2 pointsSteve Nice looking tractor.I am sure when you are done It will look as good as your other round hoods you have.Enjoy the project.
-
2 pointsJeff - looks good so far. Consider adding a lower support bracket attached to the motor. If you accidently hit something and it is unsupported, could have bad results. Pictures of the one I made up on the 854..... I went with all black iron, as heating galvanized parts throws off a noxous odor....

2 pointsOk finally got around to it, removed BOTH rear wheels and rear hubs cleaned and wiped DRY both axle shafts and keyway slots, cleaned and wiped dry the hubs, replaced both keyways , they went into the slots very snug which is good, replaced the cup screws and locking nuts on both hubs, put it all back together and put the C81 back to work ! Mulch and Soil duty is over , but leaves duty is coming up. soon. Lets see what happens Thx all for the comments and great advice. In the meantime, I picked up another 310-8 with two sets of rear wheels, farm and turf, no deck, brand new battery, Hi and Lo ranges all ok, very clean overall. It runs strong , no smoke, but has a slight ticking which may be valves. I see a weekend project coming up soon. Check the valves adjustment, pull the head etc.. I've already used this 310 to pull the Aerator for Fall seeding. Its # 4 ! tp

2 pointsClay pigeon. I've had that same thought. Some reading I have done on that subject indicates that it typically turns out badly for the shooter. I really don't understand the reasoning behind that. Usually explained as being something along the lines of destroying personal property. In my mind, it is removing a possible threat from my property or my person. Also, by shòting it down, you would probably find out who the pilot/owner of the drone is. I suppose yesterday's encounter was technically over the lake, and thus, on public property which would change the rules of engagement somewhat.

2 pointsRebuilding kholer k321 short block and building adapter for long block oil pan. So it fits on 314-8.

2 pointsThese engines are so simple and crude I would clean everything real good, tear it down to hone the cylinders, new rings, gaskets, filters, and reassemble it. Run her and a few oil changes at a few hours at a time, and never look back. I've brought back worse and they still run great.
