11 pointsI saw a cleaning company throwing out everything at a abandoned house and new the owner mowed with a wheel horse tractor so I stopped to see if it was still there. They said yes and it was going to get scrapped along with another one. I offered 50 bucks for a running but in rough shape b100 auto and a toro wheel horse classic which doesn't look like it has run in a long time along with a snow blade and chains some times it payed to stop and ask

4 pointsThere's lots of different tips and doodads to put on them for different tasks. Start with one of those little kits that have a few with it. Something like this

4 pointsI found it @ebinmaine! This is a ‘67 Columbia tandem, I do believe. It was given to me by a man who worked for me about 10-12 years ago. After that, he got cancer and fought hard through the chemo but he didn’t last too long. Chris was an awesome human being and was very generous to give me this. We’ve had it camping from time to time. Once we had the tandem, a tag along, a 2 place kid wagon, and a handful of beach wagons tied behind it. I’d love to find pictures of that one!

4 pointsGood idea. I plan to put a 2” receiver in the front of/under my workbench. I can then make a scroll saw insert, vise, bike clamp, etc. It will be a multi use bench.

3 pointsThis one was for sale 39 years ago until I bought it from the dealer 😂 39 years to the month! Used it like crazy and restored it a few years ago.
-
3 pointsI finished up cleaning and rebuilding the carburetor this evening. Took a fair amount of extra time on this one because it was painted black and covered with dirt so it had a bunch alternating dips and sprays in the ultrasonic cleaner and brake clean. Here's the before n after.

3 pointsMay want to place an add in the classified wanted section for better exposure . Good luck @Emt260 in your search.

3 pointsAround twenty years ago I worked for an excavating company that was hiring to do some cleanup after a junkyard closed. We uncovered what was their tire pit. They would just push them over a bank and cover them with sand. We must have dug up thousands of tires, that were buried for thirty years or more with not much sign of decomposition. I think we filled three 48’ box trailers, two guys that bounced the tires around to get the sand out before loading them by hand and stacking in the trailer. (I did not do that part of the job!)

3 pointsHi. This is a cool brochure, thanks Lane! I color corrected the individual pages, sequenced them, and joined them into a pdf. WH Attachments & Accessories Brochure.pdf

2 pointsHow uncommon are the 1046 tractors I have one and the only thing I see about them is in all red considering sale it when I got it had a hi/lo and knew that wasn’t correct so put a 3 speed back in it

2 pointsHow much of the plug is still sticking out. If you have at least 1/8", you should be able to get a pair of vice-grips on it. If not, clean the inside of the 1/4" Allen hole of all grease and dirt. Then get Torx bit that is slightly larger then a 1/4" Allen, probably T40, and drive it in. Then use your 3/8" drive to turn it out.

2 pointsYou going to get into the tractor manufacturing business and put them all back together?
-
2 pointsI just went through this with my tractor I heated up a little with a torch and then found a torques bit that was close tapped it in the rounded out Allen head hole and it came right out. Assuming this is the same type of plug you are having issues with I used the torques bit style that goes on a ratchet socket rench

2 pointsI’ve been told there were approximately 250 units produced. It was a “special” WH made. 603 and 1045 being some others.
-
2 pointsHere's a thread showing a good list. You'll be able to use some of the lighter attachments that don't get too aggressive with ground engagement.

2 pointsNice design. I like how the hydraulic cylinder is in the middle of the lift arms. I have wanted to move the cylinder to the middle on my gt14. I have seen the rear lift arms break off the pivot bar and I believe (my opinion) that it is because it lifts from one side. Seems like that would put torsional strain on the upper lift assembly. I am not an engineer but just my thoughts. Seems like it would work better with the forces that are present being applied evenly across the upper arms. I plan on doing it one day as I have an extra upper & lower bracket to experiment with. Your attention to detail is very nice.

1 pointI had to tweek some dimensions...the outer rim was fouling the transmission drive belt jockey pulley (ie outer diameter was too large) and I think the rear offset was also too big, meaning that it was likely the transmission drive belt would rub on the fan. I have also filled in the central hub hole so that fan covers the end of the shaft as per the original: I'll hopefully be able to take it for a test mow over the weekend when the weather is forecast to improve...and will report back. I have added a flat idler pulley on the transmission input shaft to help guide the pto belt past the fan and below the tank mounting...hopefully this will help keep the two apart.

1 pointI find breaking the bead on an older tough as nails tire to be the most 🤬🤐🤪🥵🥵🥵 difficult challenging part. I'll have to try the sawzall or other methods.
-
1 pointI gotta tell ya this tractor is a beast. It’s built for work for sure, all it’s missing is the two speed tranny for heavy ground engagement duties. When I start my C-160 and this guy side by side I can’t really tell much difference in the two. My 1046’s days of heavy work are over for now. I just fire it up and spin it around the property. It is the smoothest operating tractor I own.

1 pointA skinny plastic restaurant straw that was taped to the end of your regular tube MIGHT make a reasonable extraction device. That drain plug is what's considered a Standard Part. Nuts bolts washers light bulbs things like that. All Standard Parts. Pretty much any hardware store would have one.
-
1 pointAnd that’s how I justify driving up north to buy it from the pump at a regular gas station. I wouldn’t do it for a couple gallons but I do for 30+ gallons
-
1 pointDownload the manual for that mower deck. In the sidebar to download, it should list the common available belt size... Bill

1 pointWe can put them in the trash, but the side walls have to be cut out. They tell me that is so they compact better at the landfill.
-
1 pointAgreed. Mighty purdy backside. Me likey! Got me thinkin (brace yourselves any time this happens) how my tractors share so many qualities with the Mrs... 1- tough as nails. 2- no matter the years, keeps looking good. 3- works hard... Don't tell her I said so. 4- never ceases to amaze me with what she can accomplish. 5- can tick me off like nothing else but always shows me it's likely something I did wrong... 6- makes me spend money that I normally wouldn't. Sound about right?

1 pointGreat grab on that truck! I'm a big fan of the 99-06(07 classics) for GM trucks. The 6.0 LS gas would be my ideal setup as you have there. Should haul a decent amount of WH's to the show for ya!
-
1 pointHere's one for the Sylvia he had ... a B hood in pristine shape. Also a late model with front deck and a homemade striper. All these tractors were for sale if interested. Lots of field plowing. @StreetrodchevMy back was shot from all the mid grading but managed to get a couple of rounds in on the 1054. Plowed great once I got a shine on Tom @Shynon. Lots of all classes pulling and had a locals stock for fun class when the heavy hitters were done. Dan on the diesel and our buddy Joel on his Case.

1 pointPut the 42" deck on the Raider as I up grader the mid hitch and added a front hitch when I got it. It did good but struggled some on my tough weeds. but I usually mow with the C-120/180 or the 520. The North Carolina dust bowl is back. Kevin (Kpinnc) show a picture of it some time back. Here is mine the Raider was clean when I started the backyard. I gave it an air bath before I put it away

1 pointFrankensteined a C-161 motor into my C-160, and I love it. I think the vibration isolators are on their last leg, but a little dampening while at PTO speed is nice. Also this muffler is 8 billion times quieter than my old one.

1 pointFinally got around to fixen up the seat I found at the big show this yr.for a great price ! It was in pretty good shape, just needed some love.Stripped it all down painted the pan and cleaned up the vinyl and re wrapped the foam cushion. I think it came out pretty good.I’m planning on putting it on a 12 Auto, this is the seat it originally with I believe. This thing really has some weight to it !
-
1 pointSo the second bike is just about done. This morning I had to do a little cutting and drilling to get the chain guard on that I painted yesterday. Just waiting on the final touch from @Vinylguyand it's finished. Can you see where I'm going with this?
-
1 pointIt did not. The original plow frame went from the standard rear axle bracket to the mid mount bracket, but the raise/lower lever was not attached. If I had a hydro deck lift, I most certainly would have looked into a way to incorporating it to help lift it into place. The gentleman I bought it from said he designed it for his ease of attachment and moving it around......if you notice the wheels on the front of the chipper. He would flip those down, insert the pin that holds them, and then walk the whole assembly around like a wheel barrow. It worked very well as is, but took up too much room in my garage for my liking. I'm also a pretty big dude and "young" enough to not mind muscling things around a little. Attaching to the mid mount is pretty easy by myself, but I still put a floor jack under the front of the chipper to lift it into the front hitch point. When its off the tractor, I can also flip those wheels down and easily wheel it around.
-
1 pointFinally got to the 656. Got it running awesome. Cleaned it up and put a seat on him. 88 degrees can kiss my ass though! 😂
-
1 pointNo tractor projects to yak about, but I did run a gallon or more of fuel thru the 414-8 this afternoon. I love mowing and try to change up the pattern each time I mow.

1 pointTwenty inch bikes with the banana seat were all the rage when I was a young teen. That was many decades and wrinkles ago.
