8 pointsDrizzle and drab. Got a big surprise. Met up with Ed Dog Kennel and I think Jay's (Road Apples' brother Guy. I bought one of Jay's snow plows and was gifted Jay's old horse head mask and "Winnie" horn. I was pretty choked up. Had some fun harassing everyone with it using it as a puppet. Installed the horn on the Squonk Mobile.

7 pointsI’ve not had any time to visit lately due to work, various projects around the house, working on my Dad’s truck, getting my CDL, and bus driver training. I got a call from a friend who mentioned a member of our tractor club had passed. Turns out he had a 418-8 stored under a tarp. His widow wanted to know if he’d be interested in the WH. She gave it to Emory to work on. It has all of its parts, even though some aren’t on it now. The engine is free and Emory wants to get it running and restore it. I know I’m good condition these bring good money, so I’m very thankful for her giving it to Emory knowing he has plans to get it going and looking good again!

6 pointsDid some detailing on the FREE10-8 this morning. Coming along nicely. Talked to @Vinylguy yesterday about my custom decals. He should have them done and shipped to me by Monday. If any of you are even even thinking about decals, either factory originals, or a set of customs, @Vinylguy is the best in the business. Great quality and affordable prices. I have purchased several sets from him and he has never disappointed. Can't wait to get them on. I guess I should drag the deck out of the shed and give it a once over. I have no plans on painting it. I fear if I drag it out of the shed those plans might change.

6 pointsI just can't get the image of hundreds of surviving RJ's at one place out of my mind... can only imagine is will resemble a Shriners Little Car parade - older hefty guys riding their early red WH tractors , but without the headgear...!! And, if any of the parade riders break formation and start going in circles or figure eights, I know I was right.... Seriously, safe travels to all, maybe I get to go next year...... Bill

6 pointsI miss you guys too! We would have loved to have came, but with everything we’ve had going on this year, it just didn’t work out. I hope that we will be able to make it next year! I’ve seen some Facebook posts that Lowell, DJ, and several others are coming that we haven’t had a chance to see in a while. I hate to miss all of the fun!!! Wmory does say that we will be there next year with his 418! We did add two new to us cousins to our stable in the last couple of weeks. Emory got a Farmall A and I just bought a C. Guess my sickness will never subside!

5 pointsGot this B-100 Automatic I picked up recently back together. Someone managed to shear all the teeth off both of the sun gears that drive the axles 😬.

4 pointsCVT delivered and v-belt length determined. Installing a ball bearing on the crankshaft to take any axial thrust and overhung load off the Kohler Command crankshaft sleeve bearings. Waiting for parts for the v-belt tensioner. I am hoping the v-belt drive will transmit the power from the jackshaft to the transmission without issue.

3 pointsI watched most of this this morning. I've seen quite a few welding videos and I felt like this one should be shared. Got some good valuable information out of it. Even better, the guy is pretty entertaining. To me anyhow...

3 pointsI got around to installing the new battery in Clyde. He fired right up, and the voltage at the battery was the same as when he was not running. Not good. Started tracing wires and discovered that the voltage regulator plug was not plugged into the regulator! Well, that would explain why the old battery was looking like wasn't holding a charge. The voltage checked a little higher when running after connecting the regulator. The meter I have available is an ancient, small analog VOM. Not sure about its accuracy. I'll have to update that piece of equipment and take another check. While I was behind the dash, I pulled the hour meter to check it out on the bench. It has not been connected since I got the tractor. Hooked it up and discovered that it works. Cool! I'll clean it up and reconnect it in the tractor.

3 pointsI agree with Eric, and I have three welders. I have a big ass Miller Arc welder that could weld railroad track together ( I forgot the duty cycle) a Miller mig and a HF flux core. Here’s what I tell people: I can weld but I’m not a welder. I can stitch together a broken snowplow at two in the morning and it won’t break, but I won’t weld something where someone could get hurt because I’m not a professional. Example: A trailer hitch. If I need something like that done I take it to my buddy who owns the local welding shop and I know it will be done correctly.

3 pointsI think The k161 can be bored to use a K181 oversize piston. But the crank is smaller diameter than a K181 crank.so you would need to find a k161 rod. They show up on Ebay from time to time. Send @richmondred01 a message and discuss that with him. He has many years of rebuilding engines and is in North Carolina, not close, but not terrible far considering how hard it is to find someone to work on these old engines

3 pointsThe 1st easy thing to do is check that the tiny vent in your gas cap is open. If it is plugged, the pump pulling the gas out will create a vacuum to the point that the pump cannot overcome the vacuum to pull the gas out. The little mechanical diaphragm pumps do no have much "pull" or suction capability. They count on a good gravity flow to them so they can "push" the gas which they are good at. Also check/replace any inline fuel filter that is "before" the pump. When you rebuilt the tractor did you clean the tank and replace the valve at the bottom of the tank? Most valves at the bottom of the tank have a small fine screen going into the tank. If there is trash in the tank the flowing gas could be pulling the fine trash to plug the screen. When the mower shuts off the trash falls away from the screen and gas will flow again.

2 pointsWasn't a bad at all considering the forecast. I think the prediction put a hamper on the day. Was in the low 60's but the only rain to speak of was first thing, kinda on the misty side. The rest of the day was great for meeting up with old friends and making new ones.
-
2 pointsLooks to me like someone tried one side - failed to remove - and continued to the other ... I've had transmissions apart with only one bad, but definitely also seen damage to both sides.
-
2 pointsWe had a nasty spell today with a small tornado touching down and tearing up a furniture store about 15 miles from the house. No working on shop with this weather. You guys be careful and have fun. Lots of pics please
-
2 pointsMaybe you missed the 300. 400 or 500 series being what you want. The 200 series is little more than a box store throw-away and will bring little when you want to sell. As you are seeing, no knowledgeable buyer wants the silly thing.
-
2 pointsTake your time, there are good ones out there. Be cautious with buying something that was outdoors for years, corrosion is the hardest thing to deal with. There are members here that can help you with most parts.
-
2 pointsWas cleaning up parts and tools from working on the B100 Auto and grabbed a picture of the wiped out axle gears along with the homemade lead wheel weights that no doubt helped make them that way.

2 points@ebinmaine I have the cheaper one from HF and it works. The guy in the video is correct about spending more if you want to use gas and he is right about the gas shielded looking better. I also purchased better brand of flux core wire and it made a big difference. So keep that in mind. Also keep in mind he did not mention how much it would cost for a bottle of gas. For a hobbyist gasless with better wire is fine.

2 pointsIt does not sound like a coil issue, but does not hurt to check. One of those inline spark checkers will tell you if the coil craps out when warm and works OK after cooling off awhile.... Had a bad one on a K161-T rope start a while back - ran like a bear cold - you could set your watch by it - 6 minutes in it dies with no spark. Let it sit a half hour and repeat. Bad coil - changed it, no more ignition issue.
-
2 pointsTo digress a mite - there are YT videos for upgrades / improvements on almost all HFT powered products - done a few myself on the sandblasting cabinet, and horizontal / vertical bandsaw. And a whole bunch on the import lathe and milling machine....

2 pointsYes this would be the main difference. The 252H will have a stamped sheet metal body, Peerless tranny, vertical shaft engine. It was made to be a lawn tractor, not a garden tractor. A fast tell to I.D. a as a garden tractor would be a horizontal shaft engine and lug bolts holding the rear wheels on. There were some 's that fit this category that had cheap transmissions in them but not too many. If in doubt just give us a shout.

2 pointsI believe if you are going to sell ANYTHING, you need to join, or have a current WHCC membership.

2 pointsI have this welder and it is great for the average DIY guy and to learn on. I’ll watch this vid as I can use all the welding tips I can get! one thing I did, and would recommend, for this welder is upgrading the ground clamp. I ordered a jungle one for like $7 and it made a huge improvement to laying a bead. Turns out I wasn’t as bad as I thought. It was recommended in a vid I saw and gave it a shot. So glad I did.

2 pointsWe want to see pictures of all the RJ's lined up in one spot. Will probably have to make several rows to get then all in the picture.

2 pointsWho’s going to be there that uses the E track system to strap their stuff? Bought this 2 pack a couple years ago by mistake….free to someone who can use em. Boat not included
-
2 pointsJust put on a nice thick coating of this for this weekends 14 hours of driving..
-
2 pointsSOME of the HF products are very good for the backyard weekend hobbyist. Most of their welding products fall into that catagory, IMHO.... If you make your living with it, may wish to invest higher.....

2 pointsPicked up this barn find 606. Got it running already. Also got my 753 ready for the big show.

2 pointsSo all I have is a AM/FM tuner receiver in my garage…sometimes the FM stations really stink, playing the same stuff over and over and over. I don’t have a CD player or a tape deck. Just bought this Bluetooth adapter thingy that plugs into the back of my tuner (I chose the CD player inputs) and catches the Bluetooth signal from my cell phone so I can stream Pandora thru my tuner. It’s powered off the 110 outlet on the back of my receiver so it’s “off” when I kill the receiver. Two minute hookup and I’m blasting Greta Van Fleet thru the speakers .
-
2 pointsMade it in about 8:30. 12 hour trip not too bad for rain 3/4 of the trip. Average 13.8 mpg See everyone at the show.
-
2 pointsLooks like you are taking great care of that rig! Wouldn’t guess it’s a regular worker keeping up with weekly chores.

2 pointsWas on the road for 10 hours today. Settled in over in Gettysburg. See everyone in the morning! Safe travels!
-
2 pointsI use Pandora…the free version. So they do air a couple ads now and then. Nowhere near as bad as any of my local FM stations.
-
2 pointsPut a new brake band and shifter boot on the old 312-8. Also changed the water in the transmission😁
-
2 pointsTons of items for the show and some examples. Loving this multicolor unit!
-
2 pointsHeck Yeah !!!… That’s the way to grow up ! and, WE DRANK FROM GARDEN HOSES TOO ! Thank you Lord for letting me grow up during the seventies !
-
2 pointsNew aftermarket carb is installed and I must say I am impressed with how it runs! No more surging most importantly! I will most likely strip the original one down and pull all of the plugs in it and give it a thorough cleaning and keep it as a back up incase this one doesn't hold up but for under $40 it is definitely worth the try!
