A great day on the river today.

I have three WH's for cultivating our large garden for the past 20+ years. This one has a stuck rear hitch pivot pin but is fine for the belly mount cultivator which allows me to get very close to plants. My soil is very rocky so I need spring tines which don't fit under the tractor. I also needed taller front tires so I added hubs and bolted on three rib tires on 12 inch rims. To get the middle of the paths I use rear cultivators on my other WH tractors.-FARMERIK in CT

A few more pics of the “Repaired” mower deck pulley. Machining almost finished. I’m now waiting for some M4- 10.9 grade csk hd screws then I can clean it up and fit it.

@Bob Nakon there’s a guy right downtown Pinckney that welds and does onsite welding and fabrication and a couple others around . I too might have a good front frame here too and welcome to use my shop. . I have everything here to fix it , even metal for the reinforcement plate . I’m not far from you if you need to borrow my zero turn as it’s just sitting here doing nothing . I had to hire it out this year .

So, as a retired Machinist / Assembler and later Machine Designer, I can share my Toolmaker joke..... What's the difference between a Machinist and a Toolmaker?? About $15 bucks an hour!!!! I worked over the years at various shops that always seemed to have one guy that could make scrap faster than all his counterparts. He was the guy that if you needed a part right now, you took your chances. IF you needed it right, he was NOT the guy for the job.... Had one that said he was a Toolmaker - after seeing some of his sub-par work, I then referred to him as a "Shoemaker"...

Years ago, Wheel Horse sold a repair kit for this problem, it was just a piece of 1/4 inch thick steel plate with (4) 3/8 bolts that were a 1/4 inch longer than the original. You installed the plate to "sandwich" the section of cracked frame in-between the plate and UniDrive housing. Sorry I have forgotten the part number for the kit. Yes the plate does work but don't try tp install the plate between the cracked frame and UniDrive as it will lengthen the frame by 1/4 inch and the drive belt routing will be too tight. Green acres is the place to be, farm livin’ is the life for me! I’m still intermittent fasting, beginning food time around noon each day. It’s 11 and I’ve been exerting lots of physical activity so I am going to let it slide a bit. There is nothing like eating food, where all the base goods came from the farm. Yum!

Maybe he will could clip his suspenders to the seat and they would keep him from falling off.

I'll clean this up a bit: An engineer gets an idea for a new butt hole. A designer draws it up. A machinist makes the thing. A toolmaker makes it poop.

BIG DAY stuck a fork in the Waldomobile project. Only took 53 weeks from the last BS. Still looking for the bracket !!!!. If someone is missing the bracket from a Commando 800 at the BS this year Squonky and Randy will be involved in the theft. Here be pictures and the color is GM Bright Red 81 with 2 coats of clear. Still got little things to finish but he starts , runs nice and has 8 speeds. Pictures attached.

If there’s anyone out there that could make a CAD drawing of the reinforcement plates or uses cnc plasma software I have a cnc plasma table that just sits in the barn . I also have a hand held so we could go old school cad ( cardboard, aided design ) . @ri702bill I was a precision ( +/-.0005 ) grinder in the hard back in the late 90’s . I know what you’re talking about scrap . Some people aren’t meant to be toolmakers .

@Bow_Extreme nice pick up on that ! would do a thorough chassis check out for cracking and " working / movement " areas . also a thorough baseline service to verify what you have . pete

Bob - even if you go the frame swap route, DO take the time to weld-in a plate on the inside of the frame o that issue never pops up again. The afore mentioned WH Repair Kit I believe is no longer available. Attached below the picture is the Factory document for it. I have fixed several frames. starting by gouging out the cracked area and welding and grinding from the back mating side to be flat as new. Then the new plate is welded on the inside. I received a 10L manual knob ultrasonic cleaner today. Initial impressions are very good. I filled a large peanut butter jar with a Kohler carb in water with a little Pink Stuff Cleaner. Ratio maybe 10:1 ?? Dropped that in the cleaner. Filled around it with hot tap water. That was around 40⁰ C. I let it set for just a few minutes to bring the temp up more then set the machine for 30 minutes. When done the temp was 60⁰, 65⁰ or so. Here's two before and an after pic. I purposely did NO cleaning up on the carb just to see exactly what this cleaner could/could not do. Have to say. I'm impressed. I think after a good soak, a hotter bath, and maybe 2 more cycles this'll be pretty well spotless.

When you have a diamond in the rough but don't even know it... This 1055 has been sitting with a 100% rusted solid transaxle for what has to be 15 years... I dont even remember where it came from. I picked it up, put it in my junkyard pile and walked away. Recently I've learned it's somewhat of a rare bird and should be saved. Huh? Really??!!?? Ok... well today I dragged it out and behind it is a Commando 8 with a trans that shifts and rolls. Rest of Commando is missing or butchered so it is the "organ donor" to the 1055. Replaced the points and condenser on my ‘81 C125 and all I can say is “Wow”. I am a little concerned that she is going to grenade due to her having so much more power then she did have.

Old gas will do that. Assume it's ethanol pump gas in it. Run it on some new fuel from another tank directly to the carb and gravity feed it. I once had bad gas within 2 days after getting it. What a PITA because it was the last thing I thought about and spent hours trying to figure out what was going on. Would only idle with choke on. Die on any other condition. It's certainly possible to have a bad new carb but I've used at least 6 of those and all fired right up with minimal adjustments needed after and all are flawless runners. Put it on a known runner to verify it's good or to eliminate the carb as the problem or confirm it is the problem

I personally just can't let it rust away. Anything that you put on it without removing rust, does nothing to stop or prevent further rust.

I use Penetrol on all old paint. Just did two coats on new to me NOS A-60 electric. Remarkable results. Oh... and

I put an alternator in a diesel pusher motor home today. Fun, fun. I learned that one style has enough internal cooling, the old style external fan isn’t required. I also came up with a snazzy trick to remove the nut for the pulley swap too!

There is a slight tide, but the river flow is effected more by the discharge of the up stream hydro plant. Trolling a red tube rig with a circle hook covered by a blood worm. Md regs are a 1fish/day/fisherman with a slot size of 19 - 31 inches. We caught 34 till 10AM and kept our three fish limit

I keep trying to sell more but somehow buying is outpacing selling. I also have a 520-8 in project status. Nice tractor!

I don't think my wife knows exactly how many I have. But I think she'd notice if I got one with a loader, since I don't have one. That said, she's been very supportive, and all she said when I bought the 520-8 last week was "don't spend too much" and "I think you might need to sell some of this stuff sometime soon...." I did sell a 416-8 a couple months ago. So I'll call it even for now.

That would work. There’s enough of them in the barn that no one would really notice.

Cost savings in the long run is certainly a big reason for using the separated container system like I tried. I know from quite a bit of experience over the years that the pink cleaner I used is a fantabulous degreaser and will also remove some loose paint just by itself in a soaking manner. Odds are pretty good that I'll keep whatever cleaning fluid I use set aside and try to get multiple usages out of it.

That one looks like a baby fry-o-lator!!

I ended up heli coiling two which were catacorner to each other and salvaged the others as they still had decent threads. Put a little lok tite on and tightened down to 30 lf pounds. Hopefully this fixes it for good.

Very nice, barely used 48" long frame plow . Has the very late style multi-bend handle with the cable actuator, the seldom seen 5 position sector, and the lift link attachment. $250,00 50% deposit ( Paypal preferred ) remainder is cash at the show. Not bringing unless pre-sold We will also have a large amount of new down pressure bars and axle brackets available at the show.

You guys are amazing. So good to hear that this can be fixed. I have one small problem, I am recovering from open heart surgery so I have restrictions on how much I can do. This means that my grass won't get mowed until July. I'm thinking I'm going to buy a $300.00 or $400.00 anyrider to mow with while I work slowly ( I'm 79. everything goes slow!) on the tractors. I'm pretty handy, ex toolmaker, so I should be able to put this together. Thanks again guys Bob

Regarding @peter lena’s comment above. There are different schools of thought on lubing the cable in that tube. The school that is willing to regularly clean and lube the tube does very well. But that area can accumulate debris when mowing. The school I subscribe to uses a plastic-coated cable without lubrication and all I do is blow out the tube with compressed air whenever the tractor is in the shop once or twice a year.

The crack need to be welded up first then add a reinforcing plate welded in. Here is my Raider I added a reinforcing plate there is also a couple of strips behind so it's solid at the bolts.

Well got in the first mow in the woods with the C100. It did good and made the work so much easier than a push mower I would use. It doesn't look steep and hilly but it is when you're pushing a mower. This should be the go to rig for this job from now on. 42" SD deck. Also did a bit of root clearing with the Barco FSS Pulaski axe. Those are just handy if you've never used one. I use this one all the time. Needed to take out a few bulging roots to not ruin the deck or blades. All in all went well and came out looking like a courtyard! A couple before pics and after!
