NEW TOY ! Recent purchase of a very original and early 58RJ. Its gonna stay in its work clothes......probably wont even get washed. It is wearing its original tires the rears are in good shape, the front has one good and one shot. Would like to find a decent used BF Goodrich silvertown tire, The one i need is a EXPRESS, (writen over the tire size) Runs great just waiting on a new engine pulley and belt .

After almost 5 months without a truck, and without the use of my right hand, we're finally back in the Horse hauling business. Ordered a new truck back in December after my accident, and had surgery to repair my right hand. Got the cast off 3 weeks ago and the truck came in the same week. After a 500 mile break-in period, we got to try it out : brought home a 250 hour anniversary edition 520 with a Kwik Way loader and a 48" deck. Didn't even know it was back there. Hopefully this will be as trouble free as my last Toyota. Did gain a new found respect for those of us that are permanently without the use of a hand / arm / limb , it's not fun......

Already owning and using constantly several of these vintage drills I was happy yesterday when I came across this NOS beauty for a whopping $5.00. Even with hard use I am sure it will be around long after anything made today.

I'm not much of a book collector, but I picked up this old or service manual at an Estate Sale Saturday. It has a lot of detailed information and diagrams in it for Trucks and Tractors Usually Estate Sales are pricy around here, but this one was very reasonable. They said they wanted to sell everything instead of throwing half of it in the dumpster at the end of the day. Also picked up a small torch and bottles set, bottles are in date and it fires up. And two bottle Jacks which could come in handy for pulling hubs.

Finally made it to Ct for the show. Weather was above perfect. One of the main reasons for attending was the sand pit demonstration to rekindle my childhood some. Back in 1972 I was able to get up on a shovel to feel what is was like, something I have never let go thanks to my dad. That heavy equipment was his life. I was able to climb aboard and probably for the last time in my life to experience that at Zagray. Because of a low oil condition I approached the operator and after explaining my childhood I was able to get that feeling back. Once the shovel was back up and running I was invited aboard. Awesome, a much smoother process digging sand/ loam than blasted ledge which I remember as very jarring. Can't ever Thank you enough Gene. @c-series don Will be sending you a PM with some info regarding my experience. Some pictures as well for RS guys who enjoy seeing the old way. Will try to add more pics this week of the show. Thanks Guys.

Got the carrier fabbed up, albeit kinda rough... Lots of edges to smooth up, a few welds look like goose poop. But the basic frame is done. The deck hangs at the rear on the hooks that were on it, and a single 1/2 hitch pin supports the front and holds the 3/4 bar in place in the hooks. The blades ride about 5 inches off the ground. Now I gotta fab up the hitch. Then I'll work on routing the belt. There's plenty of room to run it.

My dads friend told us we could use his sand blaster to get the paint off of the parts. It saved us a lot of time.We are trying to get it ready for a show in Bernardston may 27 to the may 28.

A tube would probably blow thru that tire. You can buy complete wheel barrow wheels and tire for short money from just about anywhere.

We attended the 56th annual Oklahoma Steam and Gas Engine Show in Pawnee OK this weekend. One of the fun things about this show is the steam engine games and tractor games. Tasha participated in the garden tractor slow race Saturday afternoon and took second place with her C125. Gonna do some tuning on it before next year and we are gonna beat that pesky Deere pretty proud of her and her tractor though for a second place finish in an event that neither of them has ever participated in.

If ya look closely I have a water bottle … Jim @JCM and I were looking for the radiator overflow tank. I mean it is one of those new-fangled tractors so it’s gotta have one right??

There is a size identification number cast into the body. With the choke open, look UP in the bore above the choke plate - should be something like 20 or 22. The larger the number, the bigger the carb.

Wasn’t planning on dragging home any more projects from the show this weekend, but as I was walking through looking for some tractor parts I needed I stumbled across these 3 David Bradley walk behinds…$75 each or $200 if you took all three…I couldn’t resist so they came home with us. Good thing one of our friends was camped out in the spot next to us, he ended up hauling two of them back to the Historical Society for me to pick up once we got there and dropped off my H, as there was no more room on my trailer for them when we left the show this morning. I either need to make sure to have a friend with an extra truck every time I attend a swap meet, either that or attend the @Pullstart school of tractor stacking before the next swap meet. The one in the last pic has clearly been repowered with an engine much too large, and they cut the hood the other two are missing engines, anyone here know anything about these? I’ve seen them at shows but never really looked at one that close before. My plan is to fix two of them up as a matched pair with a matching sulky for each one for Tasha and I to ride around on at shows and such

Got the front of the deck done. It's 3/16 across the front, so it'll serve as a decent bumper for light brush. With it completely open, none of the brush and high grass will get bent down before the blades make contact. This thing will be dangerous as can be. It'll only get used in the pasture, well away from home and family. Gonna build the carrier tomorrow.

Got a few horses this morning at Zagray!

Starting with a non- Wheel Horse part, but I don't want to cut up a WH deck. It will mount on a WH when I'm finished though. About a month ago, I lost my dad. The very same day my mom went into ICU at Duke, and 24 hours later we almost lost her. She's fine now and back home, but for about 3 weeks I have done nothing but run all over the state- more than 100 miles in opposite directions from home. Needless to say I fell way behind on my groundskeeping, normally having to mow at a minimum every five days here and sometimes twice a week. We have mutant grass, and much more rain than usual this spring. So I fell behind particularly on the back pasture. The grass is thigh deep, and nothing I have will cut it. The grass just lays down and it takes about 3 passes to cut it. That's if I creep along so slow that you can't cut the pasture in a while day. And of course I don't have a bush hog... Yet. I'm gonna build a carrier up front similar to the factory deck carrier, and hang this Ford deck on it- with some modifications. I bought flat, no lift blades, and I'm gonna remove the front from the deck entirely. I'll add a raised section that will allow the high grass to hit the blades before bending over, and that should make cutting easier. It won't make a pretty cut, but I can knock it down and let it dry out before shredding it up with a regular mower. My pasture out back is a bear even when I've kept up with it. At least this way I can rake up clippings and feed my critters too, since it's fescue anyway. Eventually I'll get the electric fence up, and let them do the work. But for now I'll have something to keep the field mice and snakes away.

I looked at the Loctite stuff and it's a lot more expensive for the amount you get, so I ordered the Pliobond and 4 disks. Well, this will be an experiment. I'll put one of the refurbed plates on my main mower, and let you know how it works out.

Put the 42in RD deck back on the 310-8 today greased up and sharpened the blades. All ready for mowing season!!

@MIKE,S HORSE BARN . been doing this for years , simple easy , just stops rust and preserves paint , that carb , use 2 fuel filters on your hook up and STABIL in all your fuel , pete

If it was mine I would put a three prong grounding plug on it and attach the grounding wire from the cord to the drill frame. Then you could plug it into a three prong outlet and it would be properly grounded.

I keep several each with a commonly uses bit such as with one with a countersink. No reverse needed on those. Drilling speed is ideal on these old drills. This chuck does use a key. It’s an hex-key chuck.

But they were kind enough to leave a couple of wheelbarrow wheels behind

This is a pic of Trina's Military Tribute Tractor "Millie" which is an 856 originally. That carb is OE on mid 60s Kohler 8 HP engines. Both Carter and Kohler were used. I've been using the same initial set-up for either.

Got the last piece of roof decking nailed down on my front porch rebuild project today. Going to put a request in tomorrow for inspection tomorrow. Hopefully, all will go well. Already have contacted my mason and roofer to see where I will fit into the or schedule.

Does the tractor have the hydraulic lift? If it does , it has the Eaton 1100 transmission, one of the best hydros. I have several of these and never had one fail. If no lift, it has the Eaton 700...not so good. Two things I would do; 1. change the filter even if you have to remove the left wheel and destroy the filter 2, check the belt idler /tensionor pulley for a bad bearing. I have bought several tractors witn "bad transmission" for cheap. The bad transmissions were a worn out idler pulley.

Zach has a skill set that may not show up in academics but may be his ticket to a great future. With so many college kids getting useless degrees and working at Starbucks, the kids who have tradesman skills will always have work and many will go on to start and run their own companies!

Washed the 1984 Work Horse GT-1600 and the 1994 520H… They weren’t happy about getting a bath… The oil light on the 520H started blinking as I was taking her back to the stables, and the Work Horse was running rough.
