Put some lights on my Lawn Ranger. She was an L107 (Father was way to frugal to spring for electric start in 1967). I add a starter in 2000 but there is no charging system. she is used several times a week year round. I just have to put the battery charger on her every 3 months or so. Figured LEDs don't draw much and would rarely use them anyway. Picked up a 856 in poor shape but it had the HL-5. Cleaned them up put in a couple LEDs and voila light...lots of light. Now have to figure out how to mount a switch without drilling any holes in her.

Rylee is practicing her welding skills today. Her challenge is to build a marble drop. It needs to take precisely 10 seconds to complete. Penalties for too fast or too slow.

I recently bought this two page magazine ad off a well known auction site. I thought I had all of the 1978-79 advertising and then this came along! I’ve never seen it before, maybe someone else has?

I’m going to frame it to add to my display! And when not displaying I’m going to hang it in my bedroom. Okay, the second part definitely won’t happen. My wife would kill me. Although I may do it just to see the reaction 😜😂

Screw was last seen leaving Maine heading south in a white van: Driver appeared to mumble something about "Big Show" or something to that effect... As always, Maine's finest, brought in special, is on it... License plates were from Wisconsin... Perhaps @Achto or @WHX?? know somethin???

This is another exercise of humility on both ends. Like I learned recently, since dad was good at wrestling (7 or 8 years experience), doesn’t mean week three of tournaments is going to be easy. She’s getting the hang of it, I’m learning how to teach better

I Heard tell the van was headed to the @Pullstart ranch to replenish the stock... something about the floor got swept and many were found...

I think this is awesome. I don’t know how old she is but learning is something I hope she will do the rest of her life. I learn something every single day damn near and have learned there is nothing wrong with not knowing how to do something or operate something. Sounds like she will be very well rounded. Good for you and her both

She is doing all the welding. I helped her cut steel and belt sand the edges, then I’m just the holder guy.

Had a doctor visit today and he told me that Medicare is finally paying for the Shingles shot. So I got shot today.

Got up to 70 degrees here today, so when I got home from work I got the herd out for a gallop around the neighborhood… The new to me 1977 C-160 had to stay behind and wait while I exercised the 1984 Work Horse GT-1600, and the 1994 520H… Then I lined them up so they could horse around a bit before they were put back in the horse barn. So this little fella decided to adopt us recently. I was in the barn in the almost-dark feeding the pig, and felt something rubbing against my leg and heard purring. We haven't had any cats around for several years, which I was okay with, at least not having any in the house. However, this is probably the nicest cat I've ever known. He followed my son from the barn and walked in the front door of the house like he owned the place. He's just a bit under a year old. Had him neutered this week, and the only problem is our one dog hasn't made friends with him yet, but a bit of time should take care of that. His name officially is "Nikolai" but my son calls him "Gert". He's a "keeper", or at least, he thinks we are....

I'm sure some folks will chime in - there is a great photo of Eric @ebinmaine manually "presurizing" a rear tank prior to start-up. Tractors like the 520 and the C series with the tank below the seat can be difficult to prime. Some have added a hand bulb primer like on an outboard motor, others ditched the OE pump for an electric one...

Don't you have a set of Cub Cadet rims. Think they were on the Raider that came to from Ryan. The off set on the CC rims would move the tires inwards.

Got one now that has got some serious pressure on it. Set screw hole is taking BP blaster nicely but the heat wrench may have to come out. This is a hub that is different than most as is it has a smaller diameter center for 10 inch rims and @Pullstart wants them for a creation. Putting the puller to the test @Achto. I'm a thought away from splitting the tranny to take it to the press. I really don't want to bust up this hub. This tractor is getting setup for a plow mule so may need shorter axles or full cuts to be able to move 12" rims inboard. Somebody already had ther way with the other side which came off easy.

So went out and took a hard look at this headlight bezel and lens situation. What I have will work. Where I was getting screwed up is my hood as never been cut for headlights. So there 7 openings in the grill. I was thinking that the dealers wouldn’t use that too opening as part of the cut out. Basically the guys with hoods like mine with the headlight bezel in them there are only 6 openings in the grill because the top one was utilized as part of the cutout. DOES THAT MAKE SENSE?

My youngest is a mechanic. Will not start any job without at least two or three of those magnetic dishes next to him. He always said that one would be surprised as to where bolts wind up once they are lost. Many times with catastrophic results.

First, it is not a vacuum fuel pump, it uses pulses caused by changes in crankcase pressure as the pistons move. The pulse hose is indeed difficult to replace with the shroud in place, but a brain surgeon may be able to do it thru the opening for the oil filter. Get extra length of hose and don’t cut it till you are fastening the pump. Remove the fuel hose at the pump and lower it to see if there is a flow. If that checks out, reconnect and remove the hose at the top of the pump and add a hose to direct fuel into a container, then run the starter to check for flow. No priming is necessary, but it takes awhile to get fuel to the carburetor if the tank was ran dry or the engine sat for many days. A leak in the fuel hose will allow air to be drawn in and prevent pumping, so be sure you have good hose and spring clamps.

Remember to have her tuck her hair under her shirt - unless you want Mrs P. to go all Ricky Ricardo on you - "Oh, Lucy! You got some es-plianin to do..!! " A perfect starter project - I'm really waiting to see the "Wabbit Twaps" though...

A huge shout out to @ebinmaine and BBT, she designed a short exercise routine and last week, we did a Zoom meeting style workout. I didn’t think I was sore, but my massage therapist found otherwise! My calves were locked up tighter than a penitentiary yesterday! I weighed in this morning at 191.6, kind of a plateau. I am still fasting 16 hours a day, and the other day I saw a small Milky Way candy bar and told myself, “I have earned this, I can eat it and enjoy it.” Well, I did, and I didn’t. I ate it, but it wasn’t great. Normally, I’d go back to the candy dish for a few more, but this time I had no urge to eat another. It’s funny how weaning yourself from sugars makes you not have that “gotta have it” addiction! I mentioned my massage therapist. Heidi is like a sister to me, no funny business. She normally asks what is bothering me, and I normally tell her to find it herself. She has cool methods of magnetized rings doing shock therapy, she does cupping (vacuum cups that pull muscles out and remove toxins from your body too), and good ole’ dig your thumbs in and find funky spots that make you wanna jump off the table. I generally get a massage, then a chiropractic adjustment following. I have found that the relaxation of muscles, allows the cracker to keep my bones aligned better. Yesterday, she said “I don’t want this to sound weird, but I can feel the difference in your body. Your muscles feel different. Is that weird that I know your body that well?” I think that’s pretty cool, that this fasting wasn’t just a weight loss, but a toner as well. My wife and I ordered DDP Yoga. “It ain’ yo’ momma’s yoga!” In our hectic schedule of running kids around and other commitments, we will work in our yogis and strength what needs strengthen’in. There’s some pretty cool stories like this out there. I know I don’t have that much to loose, but I’m looking to gain core strength and stability.

You got me curious there so I poked around a little. Here's an old thread that has some information for you. Apparently in 1985 and/or 86 the 417 being the top of the line tractor had halogen bulbs. If you search on the internet for this number: GE H7610 You'll very likely come up with a good bright LED bulb available nowadays.

I had a key-way cut a couple weeks ago and the machinist was unaware of the induction hardened area until his cutter broke when it got to the hard spot.

I hung out in the garage with @WheelHorse_Kid when he got home. He pulled his c-121 up and we worked on getting his sticky clutch pedal to work smooth. Watched him teach his older brother how to grease the front end on his 856.

Glad you made the purchase, you will be amazed at the work a "C" will do. Prior to pressure washing I would suggest yo remove the engine tins and clean up the cooling fins too. Never know what may be in there including rodent nests and insect nests.
