9 pointsAnybody else collect or have a Wheel Horse pedal tractor? Picked this one up this morning.
-
7 pointsHere's a few that have been seen at the WHCC show from year to year. Check with @Darrenw85 I know at least two of these are his.

5 pointsThat's what's so great about the forum and it's members. Got a problem or a question, just ask. You get a lot of ideas and advise, which saves you time, trouble, and trial and error. Even searching for parts and what not. 100% the best forum ever.

5 pointsEveryone loves a perfect, unmolested machine. Unfortunately at this point in history, they are getting more rare than ever. So I have my own personal code: First, it belongs to you. Nobody has the right to tell you what to do with it. (As much as converting tractors to off-road rock crawlers and buggies makes me cringe, the rule still stands). Second, it's far better to modify a tractor and keep it alive than to put it away and never enjoy it. Museum pieces belong in a museum.

5 pointsI actually messed up when I started the 2nd tire and just continued the pattern. which is why the tires are the way they are. both patterns seem to work equally well. I haven't had either tire lose traction or clog up more than the other.

4 pointsI got the blower back together mainly expect for the shoot direction handle. And I had a pumpkin that need to be disposed of. When the shoot popped out of position I accidently launched a few pieces over the fence decent sized ones too lol Also spaced the seat pan up an inch to clear the new hydraulic lift line fitting she beef. Needed something quick snow is scheduled for next week and this is my only free time. 20221217_160642.mp4

4 points@jeff lary, If you go to the Kohler website and search using horizontal shaft, single cylinder, Command Pro series and 0-16HP and choose the CH15 and there is a service manual is for CH11-16.

3 pointsThey were available from the dealers ( direct from Toro ) , I still have the original order forms, and one assembled tractor and 2 brand new still in the box. No they aren't for sale. Picture is my son on his about 20 years ago.

3 pointsI have the C-195 and the later one based on the 300 series. I could not find the later one and ended up buying a new spirit of oliver pedal tractor and had it painted red and had decals made to match my 50th anniversary 314. I'll try to take a couple pictures tomorrow depending on the weather. I do have a picture of the pedal and 314 side by side I'll have to look for. Here is a picture of the C195 and the show in 2016. Funny story about the 195, I bought that on ebay and had it shipped. The seller shipped it on a grey hound bus. My inlaws picked it up at a bus stop not too far from their house.

3 pointsHi, my first post. I just got a 314-8 from my friend/neighbor who bought a new JD diesel so he gave me his WH. I'm new to these guys but I love it already! I put the 48" blade on it and it kept dropping down when I had it in the up position so I pulled it apart and found the chassis plate had broken at the lift arm bearing support. I machined a bushing and welded it in place. I have some other issues to resolve but right now I can plow this winter, I'll wait for next summer when it's warmer before I dig into anything else.

3 pointsThe fan gear on the GT-14, 953/1054 operates the opposite way that the fan gear on other do. Nothing is imposable but you would have a job on your hands.

3 points@19richie66 I would let @Pullstart try the 33-mph speed. Flip flop kid is younger, and bones are not a brittle, plus he has hit his head so many times he would not ask for a seat belt or insurance.

3 pointsJust finished replacing the seal on the brake shaft of Clyde, my 312-8, and the brake lining. Your suggestions and post made a simple job simpler.

3 pointsStill snowing right along this morning. Official back deck gas grill top measurement is 10". Will be ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ for several more hours. Excellent classic Nor'eastuh storm! Here's a video of the dooryahd... A few pics. Zoom in from above. Note the downward curving poplar tree. These next two were taken one right after the other but the zoom changed the color tone for some reason. Here's another (poplar?) Leaning towards the side deck. 3 sequence pics. 9:45 yesterday morning. Yesterday 3:06 PM. This morning 7:30 or so.

3 pointsI just have to say that the Evapo-Rust performed excellent for removing the rust. Look at the before and after with no elbow grease what-so-ever.
-
3 pointsThose smaller snap rings did stretch a bit to get them over the splines and they can be rotated in the groove but they don't have the 1/16' up and down movement. It the best that I can do. They are getting maximum contact with the splines.

3 pointsMom bought an Argo several years ago. A niece of mine was wheel chair bound but loved to fish. She could get into the Argo on dry land, then my brother could drive into the pond so she could fish. Unless you had a trolling motor attached, this thing was like a floating bathtub and each breeze would blow you at will. The 6 tires spinning barely made it maneuverable. That was about the only thing it was used for but served it's purpose. The Argo would beat you up riding on rough ground. I would get a kick out of watching the grandbabies bouncing along. Nevertheless, they never turned down a ride. With the six axles below water level, there was quite a bit of upkeep to it also. We sold it three or four years ago. A fellow whose farm land was separated by a COE lake wanted to cross an arm of the lake without having to go around the arm on county roads. I suggested he use a trolling motor. It was fun while it lasted.

3 pointsRedirect some of that P220s rear cylinder heat into your cab and you can blow snow in a Tee Shirt. BTW, congrats on the smokin deal.

2 pointsI will rebuild your K181, K241, K301, K321 and K341 cast iron kohler engine for 295.00 plus parts and machine work if required. In most cases cylinder will be bored, crank will be ground, valve seats ground or reconditioned. New piston, new rings, new rod, valves new or reconditioned, all new seals and gaskets. Entire engine brought back to factory spec. I no longer do performance/pulling engines or twins. If your old Kohler is knocking or smoking it's most likely time for a rebuild before it locks up on you. Once rebuilt, and properly maintained, it will give you another 30-40 years of service. I don't cut corners, I take my time and get it right. 40 plus years of working on and rebuilding k series engines. You won't be disappointed. PM me with any questions.

2 pointsI Had made a little console on the right side of the hood stand that supported the chute rotator crank and switches for all the cab lights. I just attached the chute deflector cable/lever to that same console so all controls were together.
-
2 points@Ed Kennell, thanks for that pic... that is almost what I'm planning. Only thing is I was going to run the cable on the other side of your routing(left from seat position.) My thought is to keep it away from the belt side to avoid the cable getting caught in the belt.

2 pointsFor the seals to be set on a Wheelhorse transmission you can actually use the item that sets in front of them to drive them because the seals set flush to the outside of the transmission case. The input seal can be started carefully like the others by hand then driven into place by using the input drive pulley as the seal driver. Torque specs on that are the industry standard. 3/8 course thread grade 5. Likely around 22 to 25 lb ft. I always go on the tight side of that.
-
2 pointsI ordered the bracket from Wheel Horse parts and more yesterday. Thank you for all the help.
-
2 pointsDid you all figure the gas mileage?… at 25 mph speed and a 25 gallon tank, that’s 1 mpg as I figure. 1 hour and you’re out of gas. Would have to use spare gas tanks to get back home…

2 pointsIf you set it up this way, 1st gear will be a normal Wheel Horse hydro drive working range, 2nd gear will give you a road gear, and 3rd gear will give you an autobhan gear.
-
2 pointsYou could just replace the rings but you would be throwing your money and time away. The rings wear down but the cylinder is worn down too and the wear is not consistent. This thread should help.
-
2 pointsHmmmm. A 27" tire gives 84" travel per wheel revolution. Using 1 inch/minute x .0009 to convert to mph. Unless I botched the math, this gives the following speeds at full hydro speed: 1st gear - 6.5mph 2nd gear - 12mph 3rd gear - 20mph Might want to consider makeing the driven sprocket bigger, maybe 25 or 30 tooth.
-
2 pointsHe has rebuilt two motors for me. His workmanship is second to none. Quality work all the way.
