“Boss Man” Little progression of what I’ve done so far.

After two months of drought it has rained a lot the last few days. Rained again to day so I did some hub repair. Beats $126 for a new one...

Any premium grease is fine for any Horse application

Takes a lot of weight to spike holes in red clay. Mines just a spiker, no core, have 375 pounds on it and it still needs to be some what wet.

Painted the seat for the 1045 and placed it on the tractor to get a look, think the regal red matches nicely. Now to let it finish drying. Little by little it’s getting there. Gitty up and cheers!

Got it on Amazon a couple years ago. It is a nice set but more than I really needed. Have only used the 1-1/8" and 1" guides... Over $200 now ... But I have done several hubs so it has paid for itself
  10. 4 points
No... as long as the wires reach! and it has a good ground.
  11. 4 points
Agreed. One can get carried away with the relatively small differences among the premium greases. As others have noted before me, this is not NASCAR, Indianapolis, or F-1 stuff we are working with. HAVING fresh clean grease is much more important that the details of composition.

I am a bit confused by third photo. Is it same item? it certainly looks like an old garden dibber used to dig a shallow hole to plant something like a bulb or a bare root plant. They are usually pointed. On that one a slight twist once inserted will loosen soil rather than just piercing a cone shaped hole as usual.

Hi This is the current colour of my C-125. What do you reckon?

After years of looking, I finally found one for sale in Lawn and Garden Collector magazine. I had it shipped through Fastenall from Illinois. It’s an E-Z Rake dethatcher. They did make them to fit Wheel Horses, but this one was made for a Cub Cadet I believe. I adapted it and restored it. It works way better than I thought it would!

So this past weekend when most of the new england guys were in Maine I was in New Hampshire at one of my favorite gas engine shows when I came across this gem.

All set @Jiminoh and back in the mail today and yes I got your payment thank you. Should be ready for install but a couple of pointers. Clean the paint from the bores and use a tad bit of anti seize. Use new woodruffs ... #15 regardless of how the old ones look. Again can be had your friendly Ace is the place for these. I usually throw a pair in but out of stock at this time till next McMaster order. Some guys like to put a VERY slight flat spot on the axles where the set screws set but not absolutely nesscesary. Use the new sets and jam nuts provided. Good luck and any ? or uncertainties...Ask! This hub was not that bad but when in doubt re-key.

I pulled the front wheels off of Clyde the C-195 today to remove the nasty ozone checked, dried out original 1982 tires. Don't have either tire off of the rim yet - they are putting up a fight. No problem breaking the tire off of the rim on the valve stem side. I just put a length of 2x6 on the sidewall and drove my truck onto it - popped the bead right off of the rim. The other side, however, was a different story. I ended up with a screw jack pushing the tire down while braced under the trailer hitch on the truck. I also employed a large breaker bar and an 8 pound hammer adjacent to the foot of the screw jack. Had to apply that around the tire 4 or 5 places before I got the bead broken loose from the rim. By that time, I was wiped out and decided to leave the actual demounting of the tire for tomorrow .

If you have a 15 amp alternator on yor engine, a fuse would need to be at least 15 amps. Not quite sure why you would want a fuse in line with your amp meter. If it blew, it would leave you running on your battery. Opinion here from a retired mechanical engineer with just enough electrical knowledge to be dangerous........

Well it’s not two slabs of ribs but it’ll work. Got my two slabs done for the he shed/she shed buildings. At least till they are done I have concrete to work on. Tired of wet grass.

Those look like the ones I got for the 125, except mine have black bases... I think I sent ya pics of that at one time? Here's one again... the toggle switch ahead of the seat switch is for the rear flood. (also LED)
  22. 3 points
Not a bad idea to up grade your charging, but it may not be necessary if you are going with LED lights. For example - If an 1156 incandescent bulb pull 2amps, an LED 1156 will pull 0.2amps. There are of course some fluctuations, but on average an LED draws about 1/10th the amperage that an incandescent does to produce the same amount of light.

Makes no difference for the old large style regulators but the new small ones need to be mounted in the airshroud to get cooling.

I got my first Wheel Horse, a 606, running nicely! Right on schedule, I found someone who discovered an old Raider 12 in a field out back behind their home. It doesn't have the patina, simplicity, or completeness of my 606, with it's little pull start 6 hp Tec, so it will definitely give me more to do before I can drive. All the tubes aired up, save for one. It was off the bead, and the tube was punctured. I was hoping that was what hobbled this horse. 12 hp K301 had pristine oil in it, a little low but still within spec. Has points condenser and electric start. Ignition wires need some checking over. Spark plug looks good, and it turns over freely by hand. I don't feel compression by hand, but maybe that is due to ACR? It was missing the air cleaner cover, and so the choke was sized (closed, thankfully.). Still haven't freed up the throttle though. Hoping it would start up, after refreshing all connections and contacts. But how can I start it without a key (safely?). Lastly, the unidrive has me scratching my head. I see the legends for high/low but there is no stick for it. Also the diagram on the shifter is not what I was expecting. The shifter does not want to go in gear, and when I opened the fill plug, only water came out. I did not see the drain plug like on my 5053. Maybe missing, I need to double check now that I think of it. Any how I suspect a rebuild is in order. So big questions/challenges are should I kerosene flush it, what unidrive is it, how can I start with no key, and any precautions to be aware of before trying to crank it up.

That was my thought as well, also I thought it might be used to make or clean out holes in wet concrete.

After selling my El Camino I decided I need a present just because . I purchased a 16 speed bench top drill press yesterday from HF . I unloaded it from the Volvo using a wheel barrow to haul separate pieces to the shed. Sucker weights close to a 100 lbs. Read the manual for installing yesterday and went what the what? Did not take long to put together , Sitting a little high for my liking but work with what you got. It is not a production unit but I think it will work great for me. Now I can start building a hub puller and just drill holes for the heck of it. LOL

Generally speaking if they are rims, the air nozzle would be to the inside of the tractor. The taper on the lug nut hole should be on the outside.

Bill, I already started tearing one of my RJs apart for restoration. I'll be ready. I hope there aren't any trick RJ questions. I have a couple ideas for a 2nd RJ but I don't know if I want to put myself thru 2 restorations or not. Time will tell. Darren

Be very cautious about tightening the jam nut if you do not have a flat surface. I used alloy steel set screws and torqued down the jam nut on a hub I had drilled and tapped. Snapped the set screw off flush with the hub. Next owner can figure out how to fix that...

snoop . major difference is the higher extended range , the experience with results is why I like the green, think the possible deck loading or pto driven attachment has a lot of heated drag that goes along with it , seen decks that can barely rotate due to grease failure , neglect , red and tacky is a very good grease , always experimenting with attachment function , what can I do to make this run easier / smoother ? those mule bearings was the heads up for me , always noisy , just tried a regrease , and i was hooked . if you can,t get the green , get the red , its much better than the original generic grease fill . pete

@Jimmy66 usually fresh fuel , bottle of seafoam , treatment , , would also drop carb bowl , probably loaded up with debris . another thing , what does the oil look like ? like rotella # 30 , would also start it up easily , do not go into a screaming start up , let it run at fast idle , warming up use your hand over carb to help suck thru fuel effects . just look at how it runs , react to screwdriver use ? after you get some time on it , like first hot oil change , like rislone , zinc oil additive , use that regularly in my kohlers , very smooth , operation . adjust to enhance its function , add a fuel filter , before carb thats what I do , sending out good vibes to you on this , pete

Finding out as many have for Rustoleum these days to 'fully cure' it takes about 3-4 weeks. Fully cure for me means you can't indent the new paint with pressure from your fingernail. I tried many different ways of spraying the individual parts - with two coats of primer....two coats of paint within the hour....no primer and three coats within the hour....let cure for a week then apply second coat....let cure in the sun at 85 degrees out....leave inside at 75 degrees and no sun...etc....etc....etc....the results all seem to be the same. Rustoleum now takes about a month to fully cure. I'm still sitting watching paint dry...... : - /

I was ready the moment this year's show closed. Planning for the next show began as my canopy came down on Saturday. Bill, I like the idea of flying your state/country flag on your "parade/cruising" tractor.
