Hello All, C160-8 popped up on FB for "parts"... bought it sight unseen and went and got it. Put in battery and fresh gas... tickled engine with carb clean and it fired... kept it running on carb clean till fuel pump woke up. Gave it grease and fresh oil, im putting it straight to work to get some heat in the motor etc. Needs hubs, numerous seals and so on. But NO SMOKE OR KNOCKS!! Hooked up the Brinly cultivator to my Raider 12 (row crop) to chase the weeds out of some sweet corn today. Who says a hard working tractor can't look good too? Ever wonder why any manufacturer would have bothered to put a hood ornament on a tractor? One purpose for it is to use it as a site to line your tractor up down your rows in your garden. I was going to use Radpferd, my Diesel tractor with a 3spd transmission today but I'm glad that I choose my Raider. Why? 1st gear high range was a little too fast. At this speed too much dirt was being thrown on to the plants. 3rd gear low range worked much better.

Set up a 3 point tiller and tested out the garden dirt. It’s a learning curve indeed!

On the end of my first pass, my lower lift pin was in the way of the steering fan gear, so I couldn’t turn left. I need to swap the pins, the second one I made on the rear is much shorter.

when setting up a plow or attachment for initial function /movement check . go over every area for rust or binding / stiff response. the lever rod handle linkage is often vague in its snug / lubricated setting . just a squeezing / tightening of the rod bend , to lever and spring pin pull , quadrant slide , tightens up response , red aerosol lubricant , in that pin slide point , and related quadrant to front of frame fit , suddenly gets very easy magically smooth / easy . then I go after any other related , binding spot , when finished that spring lever handle and blade swing sounds like a rifle bolt slide , solid / smooth , worth a try , pete

I just picked-up this running and driving Wheel Horse with a 14hp 3speed The tag says 1-503 but tractor data can't find a 3 or 4 speed tractor with a 14hp engine. I really like the exhaust on it I think it is going to be a flip-tractor because I don't like the brake and clutch on the same pedal. Other then that it's a nice solid tractor. Was a bit smokey, but with a carb adjustment it runs very smooth.

Here's mine with 2 pumps on it. The FEL uses the right. I kept the hoe completely separate with it's own pump even though it could have been run from just the one. @Jeff-C175 yes I made that and the bigger one next to it over 30 years ago , just used it as a portable work bench , have them in the yard all the time , pile on chain for penetration , no weight is still , close to 100 lbs , 6" channel steel frame and 3/8 thick spikers , often tandem tow them , scary , picked that metal from a scrap bin , welded it on break time , also 3/8 " thick stainless angle brace bars . pillow block bearings , built them to be rebuilt , only worn out spikers over time . still have a few spares left . back in the day , pete

This reminds me of my RV shop days. Expensive motor homes had those automatic steps that extended and retracted with the entrance door. Except, they didn't always work! You had to pay attention. Either Mabel ended up on the ground as she exited or you sawed the steps off on a tree or boulder!

Verify reading with another voltmeter, preferably an analog meter. Sometimes on these horses a digital meter can be inaccurate. Don't rely on a dash mounted meter. They are often not accurate. If the reading is still high after verification then in most probability the regulator is not properly grounded or needs to be replaced.

Had a hub fail on the main passenger car of the SL&WHN RR during the Memorial Day Parade. No issues and it kept rolling. But, fixed today with some new wheels and went dually to help with the weight…

Well, as you will have gathered we are leaving the Farm as it is closing down and moving onto the next thing, which for now is a Dairy Farm just outside of Dumfries. The job comes with a house, and to say the house is disappointing would be an understatement! Anyway, no point dwelling on the negatives, and instead focus on improving it for our stay before we make the move to France. The biggest issue for me is the complete lack of outbuildings on the property, so I will once again be embarking on a building project in order to create a garden shed, dog kennels and a new workshop for me. The remit is to spend as close to $0 on these buildings as we dont own the house and will not be here long term - however I refuse to just "make do" as only have one life and live it to the full. So for your entertainment, you guys can follow me on another building project or three Concept sketches and ideas soon, I have already got leads on potential free materials by demolishing buildings. Buckle up and get ready for the ride!!! Dans DIY season two is about to begin.....

Hello all! Been busy with new career and finally enjoying what I am doing. Decided to celebrate by complicating things by buying an Allis Chalmers C that sat in a garage for the last 22 years. Motor was stuck but after a week of soaking with ATF, acetone and rubbing alcohol it broke free. I told the wife to be it was one of the smaller versions of Allis Chalmers and she now is convinced that I need my eyes checked. After comparing it next to the D21 she still isn't impressed. However, she is showing interest in mowing with it. Maybe if I offered a porterhouse dinner after she used it once, another little tractor could follow me home! Post more toys soon. The guy that bought my WH with a 14hp wants to add a hydraulic pump to it. It will be used to drive a small hydraulic tipper trailer. I have seen some posts were some of you guys added such a pump. Does anyone of you have any pictures on it? as well as some specs? What is better? under the frame, or use the front attach a matic? Maybe be looking into doing the same to one of my horses.

Worked just a little bit more on the power cart today. It's now 97% done. Got all wiring done and welded on my jack stand, all need to do now is paint the rims and once get some decals put them on and build a tailgate down the road. Ordered new belts in today so going to start working on the 314 once they come in.

DO NOT use a three jaw gear puller in the outside of the hub. If you do, most probably the hub will break. There are numerous posts on pulling the hub properly. Here are some examples:

I presume you mean the leak is frm behind the Nylon cam... If so, there are 2 O-rings behind that may be bad. Circled here as items 63 & 64 (2) The part#s are listed in the lower left corner. You MAY be able top do the O-ring/seal replacement withthout separating the pump from the tractor, but the latter makes it so much easier. Here is a pic or two to access to the O-ring & Seal

Well it’s too late to say 10w30 and ATF should never be mixed. Either would be correct by themself. If it were me, I would fill it with inexpensive 10w30 as a flush oil to get as much of the ATF out of it as possible. Run it around for a while, operate the lift cylinder a bunch etc. Then drain and refill with something like Mobile 1 10w30. You could also flush with ATF and refill with ATF. The earlier Sundstrand came with ATP. Pros and cons to each.

I have a 1276 1966 i believe, intermittent trans leak from were the speed control lever goes in. I'm pretty sure its the o rings. New to me this year not sure if the ones in there were the right ones. 2 o rings looking for schematic or part number or info on what o rings to get to replace. Any help would be appreciated. My first post so if it should be done differently too let me know Thanks, Benny

I turned the 2-speed transmission on the Speedex into a 1-speed, but now it has the proper belt and pulley that won't tear the belt up. I also sat through a soccer tournament, and hit the shooting range. And shot a rabbit that was chewing on my boat trailer.

Another monumental moment in the shop! After 2.5 years of using these monster rolls of “butt wipe” as I call it (sorry @SylvanLakeWH), I finally ran out of a roll! The kids get me one of these every year for Christmas and there’s another rolling around in the camper. First time opening a new shop roll since the start!

Yes, it is time to replace it. There may be a screen on the petcock as well and it could be clogged. If it has no screen, you might want to buy that type. It would be a good time to flush the tank, often there is plenty of debris in there.
