16 pointsThis is my second 74 B-80 this year. So that is why the title. Someone did a bad paint job on it but passable for a worker. Also, the transmission is little funky but working it out. I enjoy this Hobie very much but done for a while = Yard work now. Still have the commando to finish up. I was happy that the original muffler was in good shape. Do not see many of these 74`s with that muffler. Hope you enjoy the picks Happy Easter.

6 pointsEven my shiny one has to do a little work around here. Little yard cleanup today

5 pointsYour piston is eroded away at the edge towards the exhaust valve. If your pooling oil just cranking it you probably need the cylinder bored. Don't waste your time and money throwing just rings at it.

5 pointsHusband just had to mow already!!! Lol… said there was spots that was tall and looked bad…. Pretty sure it was just an excuse…! Lol… he loves the photo shoots in front of the flag!! Wind was blowing flag perfectly! Happy Easter weekend everyone! Remember the reason for the season!

5 pointsI'm somewhat the same way, and, it's only after I get rid of something I find a use for it.

4 pointsWeld in a flange nut. If you do one small weld at a time and immediately cool it with a spray of water, it shouldn't bother the foam too much.

4 pointsStarted scraping the popcorn ceiling texture of the upstairs ceilings. One bedroom done so far.

4 pointsFunny you should say that Ed. A 856 I bought at auction last year came with a box of stuff. This was in it with some other home made tools. A 16 penny nail that was labeled the same way a detent spring depressor for transmissions. Guess we know the trannys been opened up before! Gotta like this PO.

3 pointsHub one was on an old C160 A, Amazing how much effort was put into this half fast job. Bored and sleeved hub and installed on a very bad axle keyway / shaft. Hub 2 was on a auction tractor. using a breeze band stop and JB weld. A unique thing about this was I had to use the big hub puller and it came off with some resistance the entire way. What was cool the axle was still good!

3 pointsHi all- I am in need of a mower. I have a 1/2 acre with an incline and some areas toward the bottom where the grass gets thick. I came across a 312-8 here in Orange County NY. Not sure of the deck size. 12hp Kohler. Looks like some spray painting done on it. Says it's in really good shape and ready to mow. He wants $1,000 for it. Seems steep. I can doing oil/filter changes but major work I'd have to have someone do. Any thoughts? thanks for any input!

3 pointsdeck in solid shape , needs cosmetic touch up outside , had a lubrication soaking on it for years , in a shed , don't need it , pete Windows[2].json

3 pointsA C160 Auto and a 120-8 neither run... unknown condition. Bought them to help her out... crossing fingers the 160 is good
-
3 pointsYou need to have the bore checked for wear and out of round. Especially if it's pushing that much oil. Just slamming a piston and rings may work for a little while but you'll end up right back to where you are now

3 pointsI might be worth $1000...if the engine and transmission are good. The deck looks to be 36" or 38"...missing the pulley cover. A better price would be $800. It is a nice looking horse.

3 pointshttps://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E8AG37M?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details to the thaywood. I have used a couple of these with success on 312s with the Magnum engine. Don't know if they are available in the UK or what shipping would cost.

3 pointsWestern Auto was the best. When I was 13 all the kids in the neighborhood picked strawberries during the summer for spending money. Every week when we got paid a friend of mine and I went to the WA. I would buy an HO slot car and he would buy a fishing pole!

3 pointsDom, I know what you mean. If you watch any of my transmission videos, you will witness the same thing. I once spent 2 minutes trying to remember what a carriage bolt was called in one of my videos. My accent is from Chicago, but I am kind of liking yours. Dom, @squonk has a chicken coop with metal chickens in up-state New York. What cha bet they will have socks on them before long??
-
3 pointsThanks again, Hope this is a seal an not bearing, really don't want to open the transmission.
-
3 pointsThank you. I tend to ramble and stammer when I talk sometimes in these videos. I loose my train of thought trying to cover everything in a short amount of time. Like Steve Martin said, “Some people have a way with words. Other people, not have way, I guess.”

3 pointsAs mentioned in another topic I wanted to upgrade the brakes, maybe go independent brakes. The original brakedisc is mounted to the tranny and measures about 8" and uses a mechanical caliper. I've upgraded to two 10" discs and plan on running hydraulic calipers. Also added some reinforcement to the rear 3-point in the form of an extra bracket. Should be sturdy enough.

3 points@Maxwell-8 That is the same mindset that replaces the soft shear pins on walk behind snowblowers with Grade 8 hardened bolts because they think it is a better fix... until they break the gearbox... Bill
-
3 pointsI hear ya, I searched thru boxes of old bearings looking for a race with the correct ID and OD. Ya got any old hubs with broken flanges and bad key ways. Paint em up and sell em as axle seal installion tools.

3 pointsPlow came off the 308 a few weeks ago, hung the 36RD on it in preparation on the first mow . The deck is barely wider than the tires

3 pointsI don't have a front reciever mount, but I do have a front hitch. I think this was a U shaped channel part from the walk behind tiller I cut apart and mounted on the front of the plow frame. It simply bolts to the face of the mule drive and does not interfere with the mule drives operation. I use it mainly for parking boats in tight spaces. I can also attach a regular drop pin trailer . Oh yeah, be careful not to bang into the grill when you're hooking up.

3 pointsPicked up the new NAPA axle seal and oil filter. The filter is longer than the WH, but the extra length actually makes it easier to get a wrench on. The new seal is only 1/4" thick and doesn't have a rolled flange on the inner side of the outer metal ring. A little concerned about keeping the seal perfectly square to the shaft when starting the thin edge in the bore. I taped over the keyway and the flat that I filed on for the second set screw, and the seal slid right on. I was searching for a correct size pipe or washers to use as a tool to keep it square as it is tapped into the housing,,,,,,,Then I saw the perfect tool....the axle hub made the perfect slide hammer to tap the seal in place. Using the straw for an air vent speeds up the oil filling process and elimenates the burping. Also, If you use the dip stick to mark the straw, you can set the bottom of the straw to the full oil elevation. When the oil level reaches the end of the straw, the oill stops flowing and starts to belch. Of course after running to fill the new filter and operating the lift cylinder, I needed to add another quart. Back in operation, I tilled the garden again, removed the tiller and installed the 42" SD deck and mowed some right o ways. All is well ...no leaks.

2 pointsJust wanted to share, picked up an 875 yesterday from up north in Washington yesterday. PO had it for about 15 years as his dedicated mower. Seems mostly original. I’m new to WHs and have a question about this one: I haven’t engaged the mower just yet (took the belt off from engine to the mule drive pulley to help get the engine started) but is there a way to ‘lock’ the right-side pedal so the mower stops spinning (rather than continually holding the pedal down)? thanks!
-
2 pointsI’ve got this in quick before Norman’s tear down. Filthy engine / oil leak and poor hydro motor performance/bad leak. Quick bath, and time for work!
-
2 pointsI know I'm a little late lol, but I just came across this thread and wanted to share my girls with you guys as well. I have a 1969 & my newest one is the 1971 with a deck. I love these tractors wish I found these years ago, LMAO. The 1969 I installed a C-Series rototiller on it with a hand lever clutch set up works awesome. The '71 I just got so I need to go through her still. Good Luck with yours !!

2 pointsI finished up a couple of wood projects I have been working on. The first Is a clock I made about 30 years ago. I gave it to my son. He managed to knock it off the wall, and the octagon frame broke. He attempted to fix it himself, sort-a kind-a. Then he managed to knock it off the wall again. The pieces and parts have been in a box for about 20 years. It originally had a solid brass, key wind German movement, with chimes. It did not survive the falls. I dug it out and put it back together the best I could, If you look close, you will see the frame is a little caddy-wompus, and now it has a battery movement, but it's good enough for the garage. Also about 30 years ago, I bought an Aolean Duo Art Reproducing piano. It's like a player piano, but better. It was a beautiful piano, but it's long gone. With the piano came a cabinet that held the paper music rolls. The cabinet was not so beautiful. I was surprised it survived the trip home to be honest, but it did have some really nice leaded glass doors on it. I removed the doors, and pitched the rest. I decided to make a couple of barrister bookcases using the doors. I have never built a barristers bookcase before, so I decided to make a miniature one for practice. It's about 20" long, 8" high, and 8" deep. right now it just has plexiglass in the door, and it may just stay that way. I know this is not a wood working forum, so I will refrain from posting any more wood projects, but thought I would share these 2.

2 pointsYep working overhead makes it a workout. I did the down stairs several years ago. Also did my sons house so I have about 3000 sq/ft of experience.
-
2 pointsI had one just like this, it is still in the basement of my parents house…all of my kids rode on it at one point too. I suppose, someday it will be my grandkids turn—weird to put that in print🤔 thanks for sharing👍🏻
