16 pointsI said a while ago that I was going to make me a cabinet for my tools. Not all my tools of course, but the ones I seem to use the most. I've been working on this off and on for a while now, along with some other wood projects, trying to get the saw dust mess done all at once. AND A MESS IT IS ! There are some changes I would make if I were to do it again, bu it's good enough for who it's for. The object was o get as many tools in as small a space as practical. I think I have done that.

14 pointsthe 4" hood lift to fit the diesel started today. I had to pay attention to keep the steering shaft at the correct angle. That's why I had to move the top part of the dash back. I think it is going to come out nice.

8 pointsToday is 2.2.22 The 2s will repeat on 2.22.22 This digit delight, twice in one month will next happen on 2.2.2222 and 2.22.2222 then again 22222, 222222, and so on
-
7 pointsThat's easy: If it moves, lube it. If it doesn't, paint it.

7 pointsI was impressed yet again with the Wheelhorse. I took the dog for a walk and saw my 80+ yo neighbour trying to clear a 4' high drift at the end of her driveway. The plowing company had piled all the snow from her driveway at the end, so she couldn't see any cars coming when she backed out. I took it slowly, but the deuce chomped through the pile with no issue. I should have taken a before picture.

7 points@peter lena I am serious as a heart-attack... you need to create a lubrication manual for Redsquare. I, for one, would absolutely love for you to do that. Don

6 pointsRylee approved. “Hey Rylee. You’re the second person to ever sit in that seat, but I’m the first one to fart in it.” ”Well I’m the second to fart in it.” that kid. Not sure where she gets it…
-
6 pointsI’m honored that Richard denied the return of the seat from Bob, and that Bob thought of me. What better a tractor than the “Freedom” build?
-
6 pointsHere’s the seat that @BOB ELLISON sent me a year or two ago. It’s been sitting in the box waiting for something special.
-
6 pointsThe top of the 1054 frame is 14.5” off the ground. The tab above the upper link mounts is 12.5” on the sled. I don’t want too much more rake. I think this is gonna work.
-
5 pointsI'll second that one. It would be an asset. Pete has the knowledge! He puts stuff up that I've never even thought about before. Most definitely gets us thinking!
-
5 pointsFabricator fowl! Do you have a brake for EVERYONE????? Just joking @Maxwell-8, I'm simply jealous. That tower mod looks fantastic. I look forward to more!
-
5 pointsI found a shovel and broom! @formariz I think we all know I’ll never get to an organized point of zen, but it still feels great to move some unneeded things out back and be able to walk around my toy!

4 pointsInfo on that rack please? FYI, looking for a cheap cab in the middle of a nationwide snowstorm… I’m not sure how well that’ll work.

4 pointsBest place for a request like this is in the "Wanted" section of the classifieds. https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/classifieds/wanted/

4 pointsI told this a couple of times... but when I first started rebuilding my Horse... it didn't have a seat... so all that existed was the metal underneath where the seat should go. Well, I put an engine on it... one that I had laying around in the shop... wasn't anything special... just a 3,600 rpm engine. WELL, I backed the Horse out of the shop... grinning from ear to ear... even though it was really just a rusty, sanded, gritty mess. I put it in third gear, honestly not realizing what I was doing. WELL... I popped the clutch, and literally came out of my boots. I landed on my back... thinking... hmm.... well, that was fun. My Horse ran away from me. Luckily I had not done any pulley swaps yet... so it wasn't that hard to catch it. BUT... I bought a seat with a back on it shortly thereafter.... Don
-
4 pointsThe way I see it... you have 2 places... Here: Or where you will be if you don't get a tractor seat with an actual back on it... Don
-
4 pointsI sure do hope this isn’t a waste. It looks like so much fun!

4 pointsWheel horse use two different keys over time and who knows if your axles are original. Take the old one out and check the local hardware store. I would guess you need either a #15 key (1/4 x1) or #22 (1/4x1-3/8) But measure you old key...

4 pointsTried out the 418-A today for the first time with the 44'' 2 stage. A few observations. For the past 20 years between 2 520's both with cabs I can say that the snow coming out of the shute when it blows back at you still feels the same Don't miss that at all. My left hand kept going to the left side of the steering wheel coming up empty when I needed to lift the blower, that is going to take some time to adjust. First time for 4 link chains, now I know why everyone prefers 2 link even though they were ice chains. I guess I'm used to 2 link for the past 35 years blowing and blading, they seem to back up better. Steering is much easier on the 520. Hydro levers work great on either tractor. I would assume fuel usage is close, not that it matters. Sound of the Kohler vs the Onan, both are music to my ears. Power, the Kohler throws the snow as well as the Onan just didn't operate it long enough for a good comparison. If the 418 works like I think it will the cab may be headed on that one, maybe not this Winter though.

4 pointsI have a hunch you don't "make" Trina do anything she doesn't already want to do. You're just a big ole "teddy" bear.

3 pointsHowdy to all! Update on the Auto 18 axle leak and the hydrostatic oil leak... ( I hope all is well with all who are fighting the arctic cold & snow. I do miss selling off my C-161 with the snow thrower. It was awesome. The cold and endless winters not so much! ) So eternal thanks to Pfrederi on this blog for his amazing help in actually sending me the O Rings you see a few posts above! The O-Rings seem like a 3 minute job at first glance... Remove 4 screws, Lift the hydraulic plate, remove old rings, clean up area and put new O-Rings in and put the bolts back in, and job done. Lol Except that accessing the O-Rings from above where the seat was removed, provides virtually No visibility & No room to put them in! DISCLAIMER: There might have been a much easier way to do this, but this is how I managed the O-Ring replacement! lol So I realized that instead of removing all the side plates of the tractor, I decided instead to remove 8 (eight) 9/16" bolts that hold the transaxle in place ( four bolts accessible from the rear and four bolts from the front) I could gently lower the transaxle and it's hydraulic plate that hold the O-Rings, by about 3 inches or so, giving me room to insert the new O-Rings to the high pressure ports and low pressure ports. Being the only person on this job, I realized, before lowering the transaxle that there was no way I would be able to line up the bolts again, if I simply dropped the transaxle, as it is much to heavy for one person.. Therefore, I ensured that the transaxle would stay in place by loosening the four top bolts, and replacing two of them temporarily with Two Longer bolts as vertical guides, which would give me additional space to seat the new O-Rings in place from the left side of the tractor. The plate would become visible and accessible from the side after lowering the transaxle. The hoist with the strap, held up the rear of the tractor, while, the hydraulic jack, gently supported the transaxle which I lowered after loosening the bolts. Once the O rings where seated with a little grease, as per the manual, I then jacked up the transaxle sufficiently to get all four hydro plate bolts partially screwed in, and then continued jacking up the transaxle, until i could remove the long bolt guides and then tighten up all 8 bolts to secure the transaxle assembly in place. Following a little prayer, I then refilled the Sunstrand hydro with oil, and started the tractor in place while still cradled by the hoist. Miraculously, there was no leak, and thanks to Pfrederi and ManicMechanic, the first oil leak source seems fixed!!! Now it's time to address the major leak coming from the transaxle seals that are shot! To be continued!

3 pointsHAH! Well, I am probably going to be buying one here soon. I have some work to do on my zero turn's mowing deck before Spring... Just send me your metal... @Maxwell-8 I'll cut it for you... Don
-
3 points@Maxwell-8 has access to everything... Here I am looking at (just now) buying a plasma cutter... Don

3 pointsOne of the first things I noticed when I sat down on my friend's KZ1000 was that the seat had a 'step' in it right behind the driver's position. After I finally caught up to it and closed the throttle, the light came came on as to what that 'step' was for.....
-
3 pointsIs my plan. Get it running. Then tear down and revamp. But, if I use the handlebars during the revamp, I can re-mount the thumb throttle. Until then, I won’t have a great throttle method. Rope and a stick or something cool.

3 pointsBought this one new in 2015, traded in a 2009 GMC Sierra that I also bought new ( and couldn't get rid of fast enough). This was my first non-domestic built vehicle, 55000 trouble free miles and we now own 4 Toyota products. In my line of work I get to drive and work on all brands, foreign and domestic, and Toyota was an easy choice. Simple, reliable, easy to work on, and they hold their value.
-
3 pointsIf you read some of the Wheel Horse manuals they say “experience will teach you not to throw snow into the wind!”
-
3 pointsLittle different clean up here in NC. With the three small snow storms we got there was a lot of other stuff to clean up, This is the last of five loads of limbs and leafs i've clean up in the last two weeks. The other four load came out from a live oak.

3 pointsThe Paint Department and I did more cleaning and she sent some paint onto the big twin K582 Kohler engine block. Masked off ready for paint. And one coat on.
