10 pointsWas finally dry enough to get my fall plowing done. Did my existing garden and added a new one. The old Horse did a great job.

8 pointsWe took the RV to Fredericksburg, TX which is about 80 miles from home. Fredericksburg has capitalized on its old German Heritage, Peach growing, and now Wineries. The granite gravel sandy loan is said to be excellent for some variety of grapes. There are said to be 50-60 Wineries, Vineyards and recently Distilleries in a 50 mile radius of the town. My Uncle Eddie spoiled me in my teenage youth with his sweet Muscadine homemade wine, so I'm not much of a dry/tart wine person. Part of our trip was to visit and Hike at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area. This 430 ft reddish pink granite done is a tiny exposed part of a 100 square mile granite rock. This photo is of off their website, much better than mine. The There are 11 miles of trail. The nice trail you see in the picture ends around the corner. We hiked about a mile to the bottom of the solid rock dome, then about a mile winding around the base of the dome. It had drizzled a little during the night in front of a cool front that was to blow through late in the evening. We saw some people slipping and falling as they climbed the dome. my wifes knee started bothering her a little, so we turned around an left it for a future day. I've climbed to the top when I was 20 years younger , with my sons on a Scout campout there. I suspect @ebinmaine would enjoy a hike here, even where we were part way up the view was spectacular. I certainly was on the lookout for rattlesnakes sunning themselves around the rocks, none seen, but there were there.. So I took my wife back to the RV and .............. Headed to a Tractor Museum.............that happen to be at a German Brewery..........that happened to have a tasting Pub. List of their Brews. I tried their German Pilsner and Doppelbock, 2 ends of the spectrum. Zier Gut! These wheels on the 110 HP Case steamer are over 7 ft tall. Ive never seen a wood steamer operating. This is a beast of a machine! I love the 3 brass steam whistles! Of course this tracked Oliver was one of my favorites. This is the Brewery, Restaurant and Special Events @Tractorhead, Their was a sign that said they are guided by the German Bier purity laws of 1516 and are brewed using only four ingredients: hops, barley, yeast and artesian spring water. It was a great way to end an afternoon. P.S. yes I could walk around the tractors while enjoying by bier.

7 pointsHaha, dumb question. I posted earlier about my brothers '66 Chevelle. He also has a '67 that is a full on 1/4 mile track car. In the early 2000's he had it dialed in at about low mid 10 seconds. Then she sat for years while kids were produced. Fast forward a bunch of years, and his son, who I may have mentioned here, is a genius with anything mechanical. The kid bought a late model Camaro, already worked fairly nicely, and made it into a completely street-able 11's track car. Never trailered. No, no, no! He made Pops get the '67 back on the track. Oh, yeah!!! This video is the first time Daddy and Son went side-by-side at Lebanon Valley Dragway in NY. Sadly, I wasn't there, but this video give me chills. Such an amazing thing to see! Crazy thing, my nephews car has a 6 speed manual, no driver assists whatsoever and this freaking kid hit's his dial-in every time. It's kinda scary! There was one trip where he had 3 runs, 11.4, 11.6, 11.4.

7 pointsI use Rustoleum Canvas White for my wheels. The tires are Deestone . In this case for the RJ I put 3.50 x 8. Instead of the bigger 4 . Here is a side by side view of tri-ribs 3.50 and 4.00. I have made some progress on the RJ since this first photo.

7 pointsI am guessing 1960 or so, I was just a young lad growing up in Ct. We had plenty of snow. A neighbor down the way had a very long driveway and I just happened to be out after a snow storm and saw him plowing his driveway with what I thought was the coolest thing ever, a small red tractor with a snowplow. ! A Wheel Horse of course. I never forgot this, even to this day. Bought my first house in the mid 70's , first thing I bought was an A10 with a deck and a snow plow. The A 10 did everything I wanted ( I was on 5 acres heavily wooded) until 1987 which is when I sold it and bought a new 310-8. I still have the 310. I also have a C81 and a 315-8. I even have a few Wheel Horse vintage hats , never worn ! best tp

6 pointsLast week my wife came out to the garage and saw that I had the thermostat set at 74. That's warmer than I usually I have it, but I was cold that day. I normally have it at 70 or 71. She asked me if I turned it down at night, I told her no. Coincidentally, this very subject came up today on another forum. So this is what I did. I wired an analog clock to my natural gas hanging heater. The clock only runs when the furnace is running. I have the thermostat set at 71. I will let it run this way for 24 hours. I will check the clock tomorrow at 1 PM . Tomorrow night, I will turn the heat down to 45 for the evening, turn it back up to 71 when I come out to the garage. At 1 PM Friday, I'll check the clock for hours ran . We shall see. My garage is a bit unique. It has a concrete floor, yet has a full walk out basement. The way my land lies, I had to pour footings and walls to set my garage at the same level as my house. Yeah it cost a bit more for the pre-stressed concrete floor, but not as much as another 24 X 26 garage, which is what I have. My point in explaining this is, my floor is not insulated by dirt, or anything else. The bottom side is open to the basement, which is not heated at all, and yes it gets COLD ! I should probably also explain further. The clock is wired in parallel to the induction fan. The induction fan starts shortly before the burner is fired, and stops when the burner goes out.

5 pointsI just brought this home but not sure what modle number it is. It has a 12 hp kohler serial number on it is 14132462. If I did my research correctly it's a 1984 engine. I'm guessing the same is true for the tractor. The tag on the tractor is completely wiped out and no numbers are readable . I picked it up for 50.00 was told it ran 3 years ago then parked. My winter project If anyone has a guess what it is let me know. Thanks.

5 pointsOld man fishing measurement system. My 800 foot long driveway equals 12 miles if I have to check the mail!

4 pointsIt will be the same team as last year, C-160 for plowing And the 16 Auto for snow throwing.
-
4 pointsThe engine was made in 1984 but the first year for the 312-8 was the 1985 model year. 1985 312-8 model 21-12K801 21 files on this model https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/search/?q=21-12k801&quick=1&type=downloads_file

4 pointsSame here. I have a dedicated "lawnmower" (Scag) for mowing. My Wheel Horses do the other work, and back up the zero turn as needed. No sense wearing them out with a mower. I want them to last at least as long as I do...

4 pointsOk lets get back on track here the hair thing is startin to gross me out a bit. Getting too many of Sylvia's visuals.... This guy was ready...

4 pointsThe thing I like about the Wheelhorse generator set up is that I use my wheel horses regularly so I don’t have to worry about them starting. Also it can go on multiple tractors and I use a dolly as well to install mine in less than a couple of minutes. If I had a generator with its own engine I don’t know if I’d have the discipline to keep it exercised so it will start when I need it. I put mine on my tractor that has a 6 1/2 horse predator and it will literally run for hours on a gallon of fuel.

4 pointsI have nothing to contribute to help @formariz other than an old story @Achto's post reminded me of. My older brother has had a '66 Chevelle convertible since around 1983-84. Back then we did a frame off, complete restore. 327 with around 400HP or so, worked Turbo 400, 4.11 posi, the works. One day, we're on our way, all decked out in the only suits we owned, to our little sisters confirmation. Big brother hits the 2 lane 55MPH road on the way to the church and guns it. She's purrin' along like a demon and suddenly, "blub, blub, blub." She ded. We open the hood in our Sunday best to find all the ignition wires wrapped tightly around the distributor, like a neat little ball of yellow, silicon yarn. Turns out big brother left the distributor clamp a teeeensy bit loose as he was always monkeying with the timing. We fixed it there on the spot more or less. You guys know; Locating as many plug boots as we can, (most were still on the plugs) stripping the cables back and getting the center conductor kinda crimped in the mangled connectors and jamming the boots on. Hahaha. Not sure how our Sunday Best ended up, that was a long time ago. Not that we really cared. We made it to the church, likely looking the way we always looked.

4 pointsDad bought a 1045 when I was 14 years old. I wore out his lawn. At least until I got my drivers license. That thing could do wheelies....until Mom saw me doing one! My brother was standing on the hitch! pretty spectacular! Funny cars have nothing on a 1045 with someone on the back!

3 pointsOk Mike and Jeff I want you 2 peeps to know I did an expeeeriment with the Sten's blue clear ish line and a dental pick. @Achto you'll wanna read this too. Ya see I had to remove the fuel hose from the carb on the C160 Auto and I thought to myself.... I youghtta see how the line is massaged off from the top instead of just bull strength pulled down. I stuck the pick inside the line on the carb barbed fitting. Pulled down with gentle pressure at several different points around the barb. Well now. Dat 💩 were VERY easy to pull off from the outside edges!! @squonk meister I gotta give ya credit. USE CLAMPS. I ordered a bunch off the interwebs for stock. I'll be adding them to all our machines.

3 pointsCorrect, 1/4-28 is the so-called 'standard' size, but they make some 'bigguns' too.

3 pointsWhat about putting something in between the brake band and the drum...? Like...cardboard? Then have the brake on... and see if you can tighten...? Don

3 pointsI know some will frown on this , but a lot of seat springs from green tractors have long slots in the seat springs and you can get infinite adjustment for your seat.
-
3 pointsThe park brake is part of it of course, but very few of those even still work. The paws or brackets (depending on model) are usually broken or worn down to the point they no longer engage. The oldest Hydrogears have no other form of braking. Later Sundstrands had traditional band/ drum brakes similar to Eatons and 8 speeds. None of the "newer" hydros have a release. Albeit they aren't Sundstrands, lots of other machines do not use a release regardless. My 518-H had (emphasis on had) the release, but none of the 520-H models that I have use them. I also have a Toro groundsmaster with no such device on a Sundstrand. The Charger runs much quieter now without all those links rattling around under the belt cover. The belt also slaps less on the guard.

3 pointsI've had this seat on my C-160 for over 12 years. I love it. Added springs and it's adjustable. https://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200395377_200395377

3 pointsThings to ponder in my tree… how do the neighbor’s ducks know it’s 40 minutes till shooting time no matter how overcast it is? do airplanes have high and low beams? ( @Andy N. ) am I in a chestnut tree or hickory tree? Why do all these nuts keep falling on me for just the first 10 minutes of daybreak? oh yeah… where’s the deers at?
-
3 pointsI use a latched strap - we all have these for securing things to trailers. Wrap it around the tire and tighten the latch to remove air. I have a towel under the latch so the rubber is not damaged. Tighten as much as you feel is acceptable. Rubber hose from schraeder to hose barb drilled into the base of a 4" PVC cap acting as a reservoir. I have this secured in the bench vise. Release strap and it sucks it in quickly. Takes 3-4 relatchings before the tire is full or about 45 minutes. That PVC cup was already in the garage for use when syncing the old Honda's carbs so...muti-tasker. Used the winter washer fluid at Wally World. About 7.5 gallons per rear tire on the 516H. Left is tubeless and right not.

3 pointsSo cool! The fastest thing I ever took to the track was my ‘01 CCSB Power Stroke. Yeah @Snoopy11 I said Ferd. Launching in 4x4 on Load E tires it ran a low 16 in 1/4 mile. Not bad for 7450 lbs! Slowest pass? 45 mph in the low-mid 20’s with my ‘81 Olds Delta 88 Diesel. I loved that car!

3 pointsJust wondering if you have tried the air compressor, maybe by just temporarily running a belt from your tractor to the compressor. Only concern I'd have is that if it's supposed to have pressurized lubrication, and its been run as a splash lube, did the crankshaft bearings etc get lubricated properly? Might be worth a quick test before putting money/time into it. I do like my air brake compressor, it's very quiet when running, and it's only 100 years old so it'll probably outlast me. Family history is that it's off a 1920 White truck.
-
3 pointsThis is what we use on all our gas compressors on our service trucks, you just run a copper tube to the compressor and screw the valve into the tank. The part number is a NAPA # and its at the top, you local NAPA should be able to get them. We own a NAPA and i checked the avalability around the country and they are in stock.
-
2 pointsActually, to be correct...the Sundstrand is the hydro part of the trans. The transaxle is usually Wheel Horse. If you look in some of the IPL's the Sundstrand has one part number, while the transaxle has it's own part number...much like the manual transmissions. The brake drums on my 60's horses use a "C" clip and the drum is keyed. I don't know if they are all keyed, I just assumed they are...it makes sense. As for replacing a bad shaft...in the Section V 8 speed and maybe even in a hydro, it is just the cluster gear shaft. A-Z should have tons of them.

2 pointsWhy would'nt I? I'm happy to help and it gives me a reason to be in the garage in the middle of the night when I can't sleep. If you speak of the genny it is 18x9x9. The Cub snowplow frame fitted in place is 35x10. At the mid-mount the frame must be pulled tight. The front end is already 10 wide. but the hanging flat bar exerts outward pressure on the front and together with the pulling in the back makes the attachment and tractor as if they were one unit. The turnbuckles level the genny and helps align the belt. I should mention this genny is offset
