6 pointsI gave this one a set of teeth. I was getting tired of using a pitchfork, so I made a 4 foot wide pitchfork. That'll move those piles of cow shed hay and straw bedding a lot faster than me and my 2 hands. I made it so I can remove or install it pretty quick and easy. it slides into the bucket, under that strip of angle iron in the back and pop in 3 bolts along the front, and its ready to rock and roll. and you observe right... my welds are good enough and not much better.

5 pointsWhen I picked up the 417-A last weekend, the PO told me that he bought it 6 months ago to use it as a mower, but never liked the way it cut so he decided to sell it. I think I found the issue. Grass was really wet from the rain today and it was getting dark out, so I'll mow with it tomorrow on the 418-A now that the deck is cleaned and the blades are sharpened and installed correctly. Engine compression on the KT17QS is excellent. IMG_0722.mp4

4 pointsThe big Kohler engine would need to crank for a bit to start after sitting but it would fire right off quickly when restarting within a day or short term. Installed an electric fuel pump to solve the issue but I didn't want to listen to it running and thumping the whole time while cruising around at shows and such. A primer bulb is typically my go to fix but for this rig it's a better set up with an electric pump. Since the engine runs perfectly fine except for the slow starting, I decided to wire the pump to the starting circuit instead of a full time circuit when it's running. It pumps only when engaging the starter and the engine fires right up now. No need for it to click and run the whole time and the tired mechanical pump can still pull fuel through the check valves of the electric pump no problem so far. Just for anyone considering installing an electric fuel pump.

4 pointsOnce my engine is running I can't hear my Facet Posi flo pumps running. You got supersonic hearing? Maybe John is Lee Majors in disguise?

4 pointsRegardless of the weapon, shot placement is essintial for a safe humane harvest. With a double lung pass thru shot, a whitetail deer will expire in 8-10 seconds. The effective range of an arrow that is traveling at 300 ft/second is obviously much less than a bullet that is at 3000 ft/second. I have taken deer at 51 yds with a bow and at 478 yds with a rifle. Knowledge of the projectile drop and accurate laser measure of the distance makes this possible.

3 pointsI don't know Ron, but I think some of the hardcore WH members here will have a rash over the IH and Farmall decals.......

3 pointsThose caps have tiny vents. Probably from acid sloshing around inside and spilling out. Battery may have been over full on a cell or 2. DON"T DRINK IT!

3 pointsOK...I have a spare 3 speed transmission in the garage and I went out there to see if I knew what I was talking about... @squonk OK, I was wrong, kind of. In neutral, spinning one axle...the other goes in the opposite direction (that is internal in the differential). You can stop one axle and the other can still turn, but instead of spinning pinions, you are turning the whole differential and it is spinning like Mike said. So, it could very well be the right outer axle bearing is junk and holding the right axle...and that is all that is wrong.

3 pointsFinally got it done. I tried to get it started for the first time in 3 years and I turned the key and nothing. So I had to get the ohm meter out to find the problem. I decided to use the amp gage to see if it was charging and sure enough it was dead. I had another gage from my 74 c160 that was working ok before I changed it to a voltage gage. Well this time after about 2 seconds it fired up and runs great. And I decided to install the only seat i kept and made. Everything works and no more rust except for a few bolts I reused. Im very happy with my C160's.

2 pointsWell I started tearing down my FREE 1984 Work Horse GT-1600 today, since my welder/ machinist has my 48 inch SD deck for my 1994 520H, and that project is on hold. When I first acquired the Work Horse I only messed with it enough to determine that the twin Briggs WOULD RUN... So far hood off, seat, seat pan, gas tank, transmission console cover, foot boards, drive belt guard,

2 pointsJust purchased this from a neighbor, it's almost 15 years old and seen very little use. I think it will be one of the best $50.00 dollars I have spent recently, put it to work today. Sure did save me a bunch of work. So a can of red paint and it will be all fine, RIGHT.

2 pointsHit the water today with a good friend and headed North an hour and a half for some relaxation. Weather was perfect for this time of year and probably the last day fishing until spring. Pictured is a nice smallmouth bass weighing in at 3.4 lbs. They were a bit tough to catch being down deep, but a lot of fun regardless. Some largemouth and white perch also. Lot of Holiday traffic northbound as we were coming home southbound on the Maine Turnpike. All in all a great day on the water. Can't wait till Spring.

2 pointsI don't know, but Mike would want to get it tested for acidity. It's got to have iron in it.

2 pointsSOLVED: the spring was too tight so I stretched it out a little and it ran fine. Still burning a little oil though.

2 pointsI'm a simple person who just likes the look of agricultural tires on the front of my tractors, so that's why I run them, because I can. Other people might not understand it and I hope you don't mind but, that's OK with me too.

2 pointsYou would need a different starter generator because if you turn it around it would be spinning the wrong way.

2 pointsSteve, I believe if the axle is froze, The differential will still function and allow the other side to turn. The pinions will walk around the frozen axle gear. Think of the axle gear as the Sun and the pinion gears are planets. The will rotate around that Sun gear. This is how automatic transmissions in cars work. Planetary gear sets. Also when working on car differentials, I could lock the brake on one wheel and spin the opposite side to get the gear case to rotate to allow access to the pinion shaft bolt. Can't wait to see what he finds!

2 pointsAh, an IH Cub Cadet dozer/snow blade! They are really built strong and the mechanisms for the pivot and the spring lock are quite clever. I got one last year that I'm planning to repurpose.

2 pointsMy wife and I have a 2020 ford f-350 with the power stroke which pulls our 5th wheel camper, I have lost count of the times I have wished I could swap out that automatic transmission for a road ranger.

2 pointsNo exact science. About 15 years ago I shot one with a 308, that I had used many times with great success. (bullet selection will make a difference too), but anyway just a tad over a hundred. It was in the bottom meadow, after the shot it turned to the right jumped the creek and ran straight up some of the steepest Pa terrain for another 100 yards and stopped standing as if i missed. I aimed again and cracked of another, took three steps and fell. It started sliding down and got caught on a sapling. It was so steep, I had to go out of the way to get up there. What a workout. When I took the hide off there were two holes about 3 inches apart, with good expansion. One got the heart, other in lungs. figured the first shot was lungs. I shot q few in the lung and my experience is like Ed said, within 10 and down, but this was one of the few that went up and far.

2 pointsThats one of the new things I just haven't come around to yet. We just got a new to us rollback at work, with an Allison. I have yet to drive it...its a nice truck but I refuse to give up my old Freightliner FL60 with the 5.9 Cummins and 6 speed behind it. Automatics are great in small cars and half ton pickups, anything bigger than that I want to be able to shift my own gears. But then again I have been accused of being old fashioned by the guys at the shop more than once. The original plan was to sell the Freightliner once the new truck was up and running, but our new boss changed his mind after I told him if he sold my truck he'd be running the towing side of things solo, cause I wasn't driving no rig with an auto in it. Beautiful view from your trip today, thanks for sharing

2 pointsI think I've got a solution to the severe carburetor icing problem I had last winter. Here in Noo Joisey we often get temps hovering just below freezing with very high humidity (high dew point) and this is prime condition to ice up the carb. I had to stop every ten minutes and wait for the ice to melt before the engine would start again. I remember the old days where cars had a piece of flexible aluminum corrugated tubing running from a shroud around the exhaust manifold up to the snorkel on the air cleaner so I went and looked for the tubing. Dorman sells a couple sizes in their "HELP!" line of products. An 18" long piece of 2" diameter was right around $5.00 at Advance Auto with a 15% coupon. Picked it up this morning. I pulled the rubber boot from the shroud to the air cleaner. Formed the end of the tubing into an oval and put a bit of 200 MPH tape around it to reinforce it a bit. The 2" diameter is a perfect fit. Covered the shroud hole with more tape. I had to relocate the condenser to the other side of the coil to make room for the tubing: Then I formed the end of the tube into a rectangle-ish shape and stuck it down into an opening between the engine and the exhaust heat shield. View from the top: This will suck enough warm air into the carb to prevent icing... I hope!

2 pointsI received my cup today and am honored to be one of the winners. I think your on to something here Richie. Better make a bunch for next years big show. I will cherish it and sure as hell won’t let anyone else put their lips on it. Who knows ? They may have just gotten off a John Deere. I didn’t get that vaccine yet😀

2 pointsUpdate and finished restoration....FINALLY. After a long time it is finally finished and runs like a dream! I sanded and painted the entire thing. Rewired it and installed new decals. Rebuild the transmission and carb- split transmission without pulling hubs FYI. I had to hand stitch a new seat cover for it. LOTS OF WORK but totally worth it. Just waiting on the fuel cap to show in the mail. Lol I am now looking for a loader, tiller and 3 point finish mower.
