7 pointsBeen off work for 5 days doing chores and cleaning and chores and tasks and…you get the idea. Decided to take a cruise in the woods as a reward for all of the above . The trails here used to be 6-7 feet wide from all the tractors and especially the quads that kept the growth tamed. Well nobody rides them anymore and in some spots they are completely gone now. I stopped at the water crossing unsure if I should venture thru…of course I went for it! Good thing I had a tractor with Ags cause that water was deep! Took a video as well, not sure if it’ll work for you all to view it or not. IMG_2396.MOV

7 pointsSo I picked up my other deck that a friend of mine was welding some patches on. When I got it home it was time for a quick paint job. Out came the Regal Red spray cans and a few hours later it was on my 500 Special. Really pleased with the " Indy". For something I pulled from sitting in a weed field for years to a nice running and nice looking machine puts a smile on my face. So since I was already smiling I thought I would pull the 1075 and the 875 out for a little cruise. Again... the 875 was purchased as a parts machine as it had a blown engine, broken steering wheel, broken steering gear, and tires coming off the rims. It now is my most comfortable cruising machine. I have a plow blade I will be putting on it in the next few days. Need to make some room in the garage. The Lawn Ranger didn't come out today but I will get it out tomorrow.

7 pointsHauled in an old cherry tree that fell in the farmers field last spring. Got some winter horses out and put a summer horse away for the winter.

7 pointsNew LED's went on the Honda-Horse last night. This, and it wasn't even dark yet.

6 pointsWorked on putting steel on the magic parts shed as it seems I do every nite after a day at the salt mine. Who's idea was this anyway!!! Matches the rest of my outbuildings anyway. Come in to find a package on the porch from @19richie66...awesome Ritchie! One problem tho gonna have to put braille on it so I can distinguish mine from @Achto's or @pullstart's when we are at camp and blind!
-
6 pointsPete, don't be afraid to take a chance on these $25 Wal-Mart Alpena LED specials. The next day here and I'm still seeing them two white spots.

5 pointsMany thanks for the birthday wishes, lads. Had quite a good day over at my mate Duncs over the border in Scotland. Fitted a new brake fluid reservoir on his ex military 101 Land Rover and changed some filters on his 17yr old Case tractor. Back home and kissed the pup and patted Carol.

5 pointsWhile leveling off some gravel and dozing away some rough areas in the dryed mudscape, I found that these conveyor belt rolling plates make great blade weights. They hang on the blade nice and tight if you whack em with a hammer once or twice. Each one weighs about 7 pounds give or take. And here all this time I just had them hanging off the back for added weight.

4 pointsThanks EB. Here is a pic of the 500 when I got it. The deck came with it. Had a big hole in front of it.

4 pointsAlthough wood is correct, it really looks like cork handles. The bike is too short for me, looks like a 24". Here is my bike ride...1970' Schwinn, with 6 pack baskets. I also have the girls bike in green, same year with saddle baskets.

4 pointsGreat score on the band saw Sylvia!! Can you say FREE.... sure I knew you could! The bike you can have.... looks like too much physical exertion!
-
4 pointsThen you see shows on TV and it's unbelievable what people hold on to and won't let go!
-
4 pointsWell that’s a rap for now. Not 100% finished but all it needs to be perfect is some paint and grip tape on the floorboards. Very happy with the outcome.
-
4 pointsCan’t wait to start on mine. Do some more clearing this winter when the snakes and bears are asleep

3 pointsShould be easy to figure out where the little lady and I were last week. Went to spend some time with our son where he lives.
-
3 pointsThat's a nice bike, maybe 3 or 10 speed, front and rear brakes, it even appears to have lights. Cup holder and a luggage rack, and white walls. Anyone would be styling with that fine ride.

3 pointsBackground on trigger pins. The Tecumseh OEM ignition was really a Capacitance Discharge Ignition, CDI , not a magneto. With a CDI, a capacitor is charged up to several hundred volts and when this voltage is connected across the primary of a transformer, Pulse Transformer PT, a very high voltage is produced across the secondary to make the spark across the plug. The timing for the connection of the capacitor to the PT is controlled by an electronic switch, silicon controled rectifier SCR. The SCR is normally open, but it has a gate witch when it receives a small voltage, slams the SCR into conduction in a millionth of a second. This trigger voltage pulse for the gate is generated by a trigger coil with a built in magnet. Normally there is no trigger voltage as the magnetic field is constant, not changing, but when the trigger pin goes by the trigger coil , the magnetic field increases and there is a voltage generated, the trigger or timing pulse which results in a spark. More on the replacement ignition later, but you do not need to remove the flywheel to install it and it only costs $60. I would be glad to help you. 3 pointsJust have to make sure that if you live in an area with winter, you don't use something that's going to freeze up. RV antifreeze and winter grade windshield washer fluid are both very popular. I have good inexpensive access to a product called Rimguard through a local tire dealer. It's quite a bit heavier than most things.

3 pointsActually would be a cool ride for a young girl or the Dino.... @stevasaurus note the cup holder..... nice little back rack to bungee on a six pack...
-
3 pointsAlso we pulled this poor thing out of a pile of branches mud and other stuff that washed into it in one of the floods we had this summer... It sat out there for a good while, I figured it was toast. Surprisingly, no water got in anywhere it shouldnt and it fired right up. It was put to work hauling firewood the other day. Doesn't seem any worse for wear.

3 pointsFind the model number on your blower and then take a look through our manuals section. Should be exploded views with part numbers to show you all the parts you will need. https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/files/category/28-snow-blowers/

3 pointsGreat finds!! Either one of those would go to good use here. The bike would get a good go over and go to a grand daughter and the saw would go to my son ! Glad you picked those up, people just dont appreciate what they have, at least drop at a Goodwill or Salvation Army store.
-
3 pointsAnd other than for myself, I don't even want to use a hammer or a saw. 40+ years of construction was enough for me. But the knowledge of all of the trades have been most useful throughout that time. Put a bathroom in last Spring and this up coming Spring, I'll redo the kitchen. I've been telling the little lady for years, when I retire. Well the time is here, and I have the ability, mostly I have the "time". I know what it takes to remodel inside a home, and when it's your own home and you're trying to live in it at the same time, it seems to take forever. Now I can stay at it and GET-ER-DONE.

3 points@peter lena Just got done soaking my nicer of the two decks. Should help hold off rust for years to come. I've always used a file on my blades as well. No sense wasting material with a grinder.

3 pointsI've been down for 3 weeks with covid so my grass was getting long, my normal mower is a 418-8, that is having some wiring gremlins. Pulled this old girl (160) out and stuck a deck under her so I could get done tonight before rain rolled in. It hasn't seen a deck since I refreshed several years ago, forgot what a beast it is, not as smooth or quiet as the 418 (and I miss the lift) but It sure will cut (and wheelie).

2 pointsI rebuilt a mule drive with new pulleys and a fresh Toro belt and while it was off, hooked my winch up to take care of a dead tree. Also buzzed up some saplings while I was at it. The winch was awesome, great for controlling how the tree fell and then I used it to drag the trunk out. As for belts, I am DONE buying anything but genuine Toro belts. It's not worth trying to save a couple bucks buying aftermarket. Aramid/Kevlar belts are also junk- give me a stock Toro rubber belt and I guarantee you it will outlast any other belt.

2 pointsStripped the underside of my deck down to bare metal, ready to apply the POR-15 treatment... And added the stiffener / safety bar to the discharge chute. That's one of the 'through bolts' from my old boiler that I replaced several years ago. I knew there was a reason I saved them! (Hi, my name's Jeff and I'm a hoarder!) Note that the back apron had been bent down at some point by previous owner mis-treatment. Before I welded the bar I set up a jig to spread the apron out for more clearance. It was still real close and it would hit every now and then if I accidentally backed into a fence post with the wheel (which I would do fairly often because I try to get the deck under the fence to minimize weed whacking). My hope is that the stiffener will cure that problem. (HA! with my luck I'll bend the bar!) I hope it doesn't catch too much grass and clog the chute! @Ed Kennell Thanks for the photo reminder! I forgot I wanted to do this until I saw your post of your deck sunbathing with tanning oil slathered on!

2 pointsWorking again on the old girl. The c160 you dirty minded people. I got most of it painted except the hood I don't know if I'll have enough warm weather to get it done. Anyways I did get the right axle seal replaced and whoever tried to fix it put a woodruff key on that was to small so they put a piece of wire to raise it up. so I decided to check the left and it's a good thing I did the hub moved 1/4inch both ways with out moving to axle the nut screwed off a threaded stud. "Figure that out". So I had to weld the nut to the stud and it did come out. The hub came off easly with my gear puller. The hub will have to be replaced but it didn't hurt the axle or the woodruff key. Now I'm looking for a 1 1/8" hub Anyways a few pictures

2 pointsI would avoid foam filled. My finish mower has foam filled wheels. One failed a couple years ago. They are not replaceable. you have to cut the tire and foam off the wheel a real PIA job. New units are $235 Now I notice another one is failing.

2 pointsFlat front tire is only issue… Even has a built in bottle opener on the front forks…!

2 pointsThanks! My favorite 4 letter word: FREE The bike color is a bit “off” for this site, but I’ll get it spiffed up and pass it on…

2 points@WHX?? love that turbo set up ,exotic at one time , today they are regularly used in 4 cyl engines , 250- 300 hp range , stomp a v8 and still give you 35+ mpg on highway . pete
