I have a good hearted,generous friend here at redsquare that’s nuts about 953s( hint,hint) named Richard. You may know him but I haven’t met him personally yet but hope to at next year’s big show. Anyways a couple threads back I asked about Hein Werner pumps and what they were worth. I started getting a lot of useful info especially from Lane Ranger. Later that day Richard emails me with a offer of a pump and cylinder he had but figured he’d never use. For only the cost of shipping I received the pump and cylinder a few days later. I’m anxious to get into it and hopefully make into a working unit. I can’t thank Richard enough for looking out for me so I would like to pay it forward. Hopefully it can continue. I’m not into this hobby to make money but I do try and recoup it thru stuff I don’t need to offset the addiction. I have a 1993 Eaton hydro out of a 520H I’ve been trying to sell but with no luck as I’m sure it’s a crapshoot not knowing the condition. I don’t know myself but only what I’ve been told by PO. That would mean nothing in court. So I would like to offer the hydro to anyone who wants it. I’m going to change my classified ad to show as much. In case ,I have several LTL trucking companies by me and my zip is 44286. I just wanted to share this with all,of you. Sorry for the long post but it’s shown me what’s important.

So this past weekend, I had the honor of giving my 94 1/2 year old Dad a ride on the SL& WHNN RR. He had a blast! But… it was a chore for him to get on and off the adult seat in the main car… So… I started thinking (always leads to trouble) - why not build a wheelchair “lowboy” trailer and have it available for any folks - kids or adults - in a wheelchair… So it begins: Base is gonna be an old hitch flatbed I have. I’m thinking wheelchair on one side and seat for caregiver on other side. Will have wheels and can be towed solo or as part of the train… Latches will be on wheels and frame. Ratchet ties for redundancy… Some pics of concept and whole train… (white stool is just for concept of caregiver seat area) Initial thoughts welcome…

One advantage to a RD that I like is that you can mow close to objects on either side of the deck.

I had a similar experience for a similar reason many moons ago. There was a builder that I used to deliver to on a fairly regular basis that just was a really great guy. I showed up one day with a flatbed full of stuff that needed to be hand unloaded. I wasn't feeling .... quite right. Had a cold or whatever. He could see that in my face almost immediately so he told me to go sit down in the back of his job site trailer and have some of the chili that his wife had supplied for him and his boys that day. He handed me a small bottle of hot sauce that was literally covered from head to toe in tin foil. I said what's up with that? Well, it wasn't exactly legal in the United States. I put the tiniest little possible amount you could even imagine in a 20 oz cup full of chili that had very little heat in it to begin with. It was hot. Like HOT. 🔥 🔥 Well A little while later I had to use the restroom and I was unaware that I still had some of that on my fingers..... Shouldn't take much imagination to understand what happened at that point. You may now laugh, cry, cringe, chuckle, whatever.

Because of the last months just Rain i needed urgently one Week Sun. To smoothened the last troublefull weeks Mrs. Tractorhead and i decide to spent few Day‘s in Italy. 760Km across 3 States Austria, Liechtenstein and Swiss to Italy. Drop all mobilephones switch off all electric stuff except for few Picts and away we went. What a beautiful Travel. the Mountains in Liechtenstein, Swiss and Italy where we had a Rest. 760 Km later we be on the Beach Daily 26 -30Deg C and just sunny Day‘s. What a difference. even in the night not 9 deg - no, 23 degrees was the coldest Night. few Peppers as „ souvenir“ but doe anybody knows what we have found here? we have no clue whats it. The Bush was interesting, so we asked if we be allowed to grab one, but also the Owner doesn‘t know exactly what it is. He only meant „i dunno, huh, it grows here...“ 😄 So where are the Plant experts?

Those wagons always had too short of a hitch to pull around by hand. I bet it was lengthened so the tall owner didn't have to bend over while moving it into position. Burrly1 got one that was NOS...gave about $800 for it. I think the guys above are way too low in the price. Change out those tires and it is a $500 to $600 trailer. This was John's NOS...paid $800. This was mine...paid $500. Notice how short the hitch is and it will not lift up high enough to pull by hand without bending over.

I signed a waiver once at the local minor league ball park to enjoy a sammich called “The Squealin’ Pig” which was a ghost pepper pulled pork topped with jalapeños. You know the normal exit wound burn from a little too much spice… well this one hurt to pee in the morning!

Sold a pair of RJ rear tires and wheels to a new RJ owner. He is picking them up today ! B.F. Goodrich. Power Grips. Oldies but goodies for an RJ! I used my M. E. Miller tire paint on them to brighten them up a bit!

Trying to use up the spoils of my small garden, before it spoils that is. Tonight I made some spicy tomato chutney and some hot pepper relish. The pepper relish is extremely spicy hot, but has really good flavor

I made it live again... Posted an introduction last night, but the short version is that I picked up this 72 Raider 12 this weekend at an estate sale. Motor was partially disassembled but not locked up so I took a change because the price was right. I had to fix the starter, clean the carb and points and replace the lost coil that wasn't in the box of parts it came with. After all that, voila, she lives again. Yes, I know it's dark video but when you're excited you work at night when the parts show up Few things please me more than making someone's "junk" run again.

I have a neighbor up the road that informed me the the Farmall Cub that his parents bought new in 1950 is finally for sale. It comes with a snow blade, flail mower, scoop bucket, bottom plow, trailer, cultivators and possibly a seeder. We were trying to figure out what it’s worth and I told him I would reach out to the members here. I don’t think I need to ask anywhere else but redsquare as I feel there’s more than enough people with knowledge of vintage tractors and the like. So what do all of you think? I appreciate any input. It has not run in 6 years FYI but I’m going to help him get it going since he is a friend in need. Plus I can finally drive a Cub cause I’m not likely to own one anytime soon.

The kindness, caretaking, and generosity of the folks around here is pretty impressive. Trina and I have received help in every way possible. Wheelhorse and otherwise. Great stuff.

Sometimes, the best thing to do is stand back, have a beer, go to bed thinking about it and wake up with an idea to check in the morning. 9 times out of 10...you have figured it out. You can actually learn more when things do not go good.

Thanks guys. I'm honored! Alive and better than ever! Long story but the short of it is I recently managed to get out of a very bad relationship, got my house and belongings back and my life back AND bought two more tractors! Great other than being about broke (cost a lot to rid myself of her!) but worth every penny! Oh! By the way! Recently took a trip from upstate NY to the Cincinnati area for my father's 90th birthday! One of the reasons I've had so little time. So where did we leave off? And how the heck do I get caught up?

Value will be hard to determine, since it has a lot of implements with it. Flail mowers aren't rare, but not that common either. If it runs and the touch control is still working that's a plus. I would suggest you register and post this at http://www.farmallcub.com/phpBB2/. You might get some offers, especially on some of the implements, and you will get better advice than what I can give. BTW, that Cub has the unsafe fuel cap. IH did a recall back in the '70s to replace those fuel caps with a better, pressurized one. I been driving a couple trucks around Southern Maine today while my Tire Changing Department spent some time between 7 million other tasks getting the Cinnamon Horse C160 ready to go to @JCM Jim's this weekend. Had to take the fluid weighted wheels and tires off and swap them for regular air-filled ones. Saves over 250 lb going down the road. She took this to share with you folks.

Can anyone tell me the value of this wagon as it sits? Looks like it's been painted over, the arm has been welded and the tires are shot. Other than than that it's in pretty good shape!

Yes, a thru bolt is the way to fix it. You were using a tap, not a die and it appears that the size was too large. I have never seen steel that will absorb oil, otherwise they couldn't keep it in the cans. You can apply oil of your choice to the deck underside but it will disappear during the first mowing.

With your stack experiences there must be place for another 4...😎

Not that I have an idea of how but I'll suggest you also develop a means of "roll on-roll off" via some sort of ramp. Ideally, low enough slope that the person can navigate on/off by themself but with help if no other way can be found (you'll find that many chair-bound folks have many horror stories of "helpful" bystanders terrifying them while trying to "help"). Also, be sure to consider how to secure the chair--I know you are doing low speed stuff, but even at those speeds curves built momentum we abled folks can simply manage. In a chair it's a lot more challenging and easy to feel out of control. There are some terrific books on designing for less-abled folks and many articles. Dig around a bit and you'll find more than you need! This is a wonderful idea and I look forward to seeing it emerge into reality!

I prefer the rears as they don't have a tendency to thrown rocks and pinecones at warp speeds causing any grief. Yes you can run with a deflector on SDs but then the wind rows... especially if the grass gets away on you abit. Almost have to bale it then!

They both have their pluses. I had a 42" side discharge on a Rader 10. It would throw the grass half way across the yard. You always want to have the discharge facing the mowed grass and not into the grass that is not cut yet. I did find that I had to usually mow the lawn a second time, running over the lines of cut grass to cut them again and spread out. My 36 rear discharge desks also do a nice job, but if I let the grass get too long, I find it best to back the tractor over the long grass and then mow it forward. If it is not long, I can just mow it and be done. One plus with the rear discharge, when the leaves first start to fall, I can back over the leaves and the deck will actually mulch the leaves and then go forward.

Facet 1-2psi is what I use..

we have a special assigned old school coffee grinder for making our own “sprinkle red things”. I too made that mistake once. Yep, just ONCE.

Side discharge seems to disperse the clippings across the yard, rear discharge seems to disperse them along the transmission. With automatic rigs especially, the SD seems like the way to go. If you prefer to sweep your lawn though, the RD tosses the clippings right into the sweeper’s path.

A little light duty clean up with the 701 today. This is my favorite tractor for pulling the lawn sweeper around.

@lynnmor I was thinking it would be a good protectant. As for the underside I thought I might get it to season out in the sun with a coat of oil on it. That was my train of though there. Thanks for the correction. I get the two confused since I don’t use them a lot. A through bolt it will be. I wish I had thought of doing that in the first place instead of “trying to make it right”. In most situations I'd agree. Usually a good cleaning will fix it.

RD or go home. I have a rubber flap on the back that keeps the tires and hydro clean.

FWIW, the idea of incorporating this "car" into the rest of the train is part of its greatness. If the chair rider is facing backward, they'll see the kids having fun too!

I am thinking low boy design with easy on / off… won’t be for “public” use. Two members of family currently… will be receiving assistance from family that knows what to do… Securing chair will be redundant, repetitive, overlapping, did I mention overkill, I can assure you of that!!! @JoeM agree with the mowing backwards in the fall, added feature of that , is with dry leaves , it almost does a leaf blast on the deck cleaning . pete

Not trying to flip anybody off or anything... but I'd pay double that for a trailer like that. Has anyone actually looked at trailers from tractor stores... they are very expensive... AND yes, I own a couple trailers, including 1 that I made... Don

I sold mine to John for that some years ago. He actually had 5 or 6 of them. Not sure how many, if any, he still has. BTW, you can put a round hood inside of it. I have a feeling the ones you saw come up for sale were John's. Jim, I resent your remark about trying to keep the price up, I have never been in this hobby for the money. Even that plow I sold you, was for what I had in it.

To someone like me, that's an oxymoron. With that much heat, how can you taste anything else? But, and I mean this sincerely, to each their own!

Mighty small pencils you got there, how do you keep from breaking them?

Drill holes in the piston crowns and you'll have handy pencil/pen holders.
