We took our time and made a few of the regular stops along the way. we checked into our hotel and are now just sitting down for dinner at the Gettysburger Company. All the “recommended” places had a 1 he plus wait. Safe travels all! See you soon

9 pointsThis was a much needed improvement for the bench. A dedicated carving table. Most carvings specially the yokes should be done at an angle close to vertical sometimes. It improves perspective of the finished carving specially if it’s designed to be displayed vertically. It shows the correct shadowing while being carved and it is also a great improvement for ones back keeping it straighter and not having to overreach on a horizontal surface to get to further away parts. Also chips fall away from it. It can be tilted up to 90 degrees, and swiveled 360 degrees. When not in use it can be swiveled out of way.It is quickly assembled and disassembled. It was achieved by removing front jaw and beam from Emmert vise, a simple and quick operation. Then a large butcher block was attached to rear jaw. This way with exception of clamping, all features of Emmert are retained and used. A support made out of a phenolic bar rides on bench vise to provide additional support when at an angle. The phenolic is strong and allows substantial swiveling of table without being removed. For more drastic swiveling it is then removed. A couple spots are also available to rest some tools and to keep the ever important strop at hand. The swiveling seat now also acts as a tool rest.

9 pointsTick tock... waiting to head East! @Oldskool @Lee1977 thanks for getting the oops out of the way for us!

9 pointsTake a piece of leather, like a belt, wrap around the ball and use a pipe wrench or adjustable "water pump plyers" and unscrew the ball without marking the ball. It's not rusted, just on there tight.

7 pointsi picked up this 310-8 for 300 bucks from the orginal owners grandson(pretty sure he had no idea what he had). it has around 500ish hrs on it.

7 pointsAdded a 520-8 to the collection the other week, love it so far has been a great!, joins the 416h and 416-8, the grass can’t grow fast enough

7 pointsThe Horses know who's going to the show and who's staying home. Today I went to mow the yard so I don't come home to a hay lot. I mow with the C-160 and when I went to start it it went CLICK! . Tried it again and it started right up. It wanted me to know it wasn't happy about staying home. Gave me something to think about. I had to remind it that it went like 4 years ago.

7 pointsI don't name my for the same reason I wouldn't name a dog with no legs. They don't come when you call them anyhow....
-
7 pointsIf you stayed home with the poor sick horse, there would be more of Mrs. M's cookie bars for me.

6 pointsWorked on the 1257Heavys snorkel! Notched out the hood and open and closes mint. Need to make a few brakets to stiffen it up a bit but idea is there probly going to find pipe with a 90° bend in it or get 1 more so I can move the snorkel a couple inches back right now its challenging land rights with my headlight.

6 pointsyes I pass is definitely a plus. In Indiana they are called EZ Passes and they can save you up to 40% on tolls when used regularly. Trailer fees with a truck are higher cost out east. I use in Pennsylvania, New York, Delaware, Massachusetts, etc. seldom in Indiana. A good 👍 idea for toll road traveling! Just about loaded and will load tractors on the trailer this afternoon!

6 pointsWell we had the " Crash and Burn Before The Big Show" event for this year so now we can all relax and enjoy ourselves!

5 pointsI have been hearing those balance gears in the 312 sing there song. So before they finished I decided to remove them, not having any help I had to jerry-rig something. Twenty five years ago I would have lifted it off and rolled it out with the hand trucks. Here is a picture of putting it back on, I used it to remove it and move it out side to wash it off. Drill a couple of holes in the lift plate and bolted the board on the added a couple of strips to clear the bolts.

5 pointsJust think. If you had a son named Sam and a Horse named Sam and your wife yells out " Does Sam have gas?" you would have to know if you filled Sam's tank or if it was Taco night at Golden Coral!

5 pointsThe last couple of times I've ridden my Horse(1994 520H), I noticed that the volt gauge would intermittently jump up around 16 volts... Now I've heard on here that the gauges can't be relied on to be accurate. ( Don't want to blow up a battery) So I ordered a Chicon regulator off of fleabay and it was here when I got home from work. It had metric threads where the mounting bolt goes through so I ran a 1/4 x 20 tap through there. I tried my best to perform the alternator and stator tests as described in the Onan P220 service manual, but my Harbor Freight DMM was not working right. I got enough good readings during the test to seem pretty confident that the stator is good- I will do the test again later with a more reliable DMM. Got the new regulator on ( had to grind a little metal off of the mounting tab opposite the mounting bolt so it would drop in its proper position in the blower housing) and fired her up. The volt gauge now reads 14 volts when running at idle, mid, and full throttle...drops a hair when I turn on the lights.

4 pointsHello, I am new to the forum. I am not new to Wheel Horse. I have been using a 414-8 for several years. My Dad’s crazy sister gave it and the manuals to him when his Craftsman tractor died. My dad and I used the tractor to keep the house going. He died a few years back and the tractor is mine now. Since I have became the owner I have been going through it making repairs and doing the neglected maintenance. I have been reading the forum here for repair solutions and trouble shooting. I figured it’s probably past due I joined to find the information I need. I continually use my 414-8 and John Deere LX176 to keep my property in order. Both are fine tractors, but have both broken down fairly often this year. In the picture is the tractor as of last week after a power wash, greasing and a fresh tour of mowing an out of control yard.

4 pointsGentlemen, I have great news regarding my Toro Wheel Horse 520XI. It is up and running like new!! The problem was the PTO clutch. My awesome brother found the problem and installed the new one!! I took the old pto clutch to my local lawn and garden dealer and he recommended going online to Xtreme Clutch to buy one. He said it would be about $350. I researched eBay and found the exact same pto clutch for $156.00. It took a week to arrived but that was ok. I want to thank everyone so much for your suggestions and offers to help. I really appreciate it!! Thank you!!!! Have a great summer!!!!

4 pointsMay pay to remove the shifter and check to see if the donut is welded or secured by a roll or split pin. The pins often are broken and could never figure out why. Perhaps it is the force required to remove the tight shifter balls that breaks them. The pin is all that holds the shifter from turning when it is still in the transmission. That may also be what breaks or weakens the dog-point set screw. Removing the shifter and securing it in a vise to remove the ball would be my choice. Garry

4 pointsJust a reminder... ask me how I know... If you follow Google’s advice and get off on 641, you’re in for a treat of a mountain pass! Keep going through the next tunnel on the Turnpike and get off at exit 201! @stevasaurus can vouch for this one, as can @Bear G. Bear and I have both done it with big loaded trailers and you’ll kiss the ground if you make it to the bottom. Just go the extra exit on the Turnpike and enjoy the tunnel THROUGH the mountain! See ya at the show, or the tailgate!

3 pointsI’m looking at this vertical Kawasaki strongly! The fuse box was a mess! Temporary by-pass and she came to life! Needs wiring re-worked and carburetor rebuilt, but after just sitting and the electrical abuse, she’ll revive nicely! I never owned a vertical, this may be my wife’s, “mower” and I use that term loosely

3 pointsPicked up a toro groundsmaster 117. All there other then deck is shot but that's fine! Got to pick up a new coil then gonna try fire her up Kohler KT17 series 2. 95% reason I bought it wanted the engine for a upcoming project. But this thing seems fun might take engine out and put a different 1 in drive this thing around haha. Either way really cool to me at least, love the rear steering!
-
3 pointsThat 4 or 5 years ago I jumped clear of that, I landed on my rear. The large diameter rear wheels causes the front to get up reguraly. Both times it got me I was backing up, as for me nothing more then a bruse or two. When Colossus rears up and lands on Eric, I know he's too slow to get out of the way. At least he has Trina to lift it off of him.
-
3 pointsBut, all the horses already have a name. 702, 857, 876, REO-65, B-100. Why would I want to try to remember what I named my 702??

3 pointsCouple of touch ups to the seat on the 1075. I'm on the fence on if I like it or not. May paint the center black. It's coming along.

3 pointsFew days of community work. Cut and cleaned a sitting area o Sunday, then did some work in my local park today, strimming and trimming overgrown paths. Its amazing that I choose to do work in my spare time that is used as a punishment for community payback. Thing is these knuckle heads are cleaning up stuff their kids have messed up. Lol

3 pointsPutted around today. Made a supply run to the big grocery store in the next town over. Had lunch at a very good BBQ restaurant there. Started cleaning up and repairing the landscaping around the sceptic lift station tank where I had done a little excitation to get to the tank. User 2 bags of river rock. Still needs 2 more. We had a medium sized oak tree cut down earlier this year. The trunk is about 10" in diameter. Got out my 10" B&D battery chain saw and started cutting it into firewood. The battery pack on that saw is sized about right. It ran out of juice about the same time as I did. However, there is still a lot of log waiting to be cut up. When I was putting the electric saw away, I saw my FIL's old Mac 10-10 A. It is about a 1970 saw +/- a few years. It hasn't been run in probably 10 years. I took it into my shop to see how close to running it is. It has compression when the rope is pulled. It did not fire on a shot of carb cleaner into the carb. Pulled the plug, does not look too bad. Leaned the spark plug against the head, sparks when the rope is pulled. Poured a little gas down the carb, pulled the rope several times, and it fired a couple of times. There is hope. I'll stop by the NAPA store tomorrow and pick up a new plug, mix up a little fresh gas and try again tomorrow.
