12 points@WVHillbilly520H @PeacemakerJack and all my Chevy buddies... check this out! Our toy hauler camper has been delayed until August, so we went to FL and got the other camper, then grabbed this ‘99 Chevy GMT-400 work truck. It’s got a 454, 12’x8’ bed and the windows make great air conditioning! We figured we can drive this 2000+ miles a month for the amount we were paying for the 2020. I am selling that to Carvana tomorrow and will pocket enough cash to do some safety checks and pay for fuel/tolls on this pig as our second vehicle hauling stuff to the big show!

11 pointsToday was set up day for the Friday thru Sunday show. Beautiful weather today and a fair forecast for tomorrow. But Sat. and Sun. look like total wash outs. I loaded a couple horses. It looked like a pretty good turn out for this first time event. This park is about half way between home and one of my favorite trout streams. I always have fishing gear in my truck, so I swung by my spot for an hour of great fishing.

9 pointsSo my Dads passing left me with with another item of his to sell for his estate. I really have no idea what it's worth. What I believe to be a MF30 industrial tractor. Around '84 vintage and his brother bought it new for his construction business. Three lung Perkins diesel that runs good but does have some hours on it, around 3k if I recollect right?? Known issues are power steering rams leak and loader arm rams pee a bit. A few of the gauges no worky and lighting no go.

9 pointsWell I did a little painting again. Took my nice BLACK trailer and made it a nicer Regal Red trailer. I really like how the custom wood grain decals made by @Vinylguy, for the 857, go with the nice wood look of the trailer. Also after @squonk installed the stack on the 1075, I painted the muffler with some High Heat paint and put the Baby Moons back on. Add the Hot Rod Trailer on the back of that one and you got one " Big Block, Short Frame, Tall Stack, Baby Moon ", coooool looking tractor.

9 pointsA CDL is required to operate any vehicle weighting over 26,000 pounds, any vehicle with air brakes, or used to transport more that 10 passengers including the driver. Unless it is a motor home, then it can be as big as you want, air brakes, etc. Anybody with a valid drivers license can operate one of those. Our big hauler is under 26,000lbs and has hydraulic brakes "juice brakes" , so it does not require a special license to drive.

6 pointsBetter ? is how you get the Senior to the BS?!?!? We need some seat time on it ya know.... Dan is jonesin! I would rather see you haul it enclosed so my offer is still open. Dan and I have a mission from God to check out a small herd of thundering round hoods in a couple of weeks in southern WI.

6 pointsJust got the old saw tooth wheel horse tires off the rims put a coat of paint on the inside. Looked pretty good for as old as they are but either way there off so hit them with paint. Gonna let that dry and try and mount the tri rib tires here shortly.

5 pointsBeen doing several things to the 854. As some of you recall I did a pulley swap a while back to get a tad more speed. I have decided to put a mower deck on it so I went back to the original pulleys. This is the 854 I picked up at the 2018 big show and it came with the deck but it wasn't mounted because there was no mid mount hitch on the tractor. I didn't have a spare hitch so I found one on Ebay, painted it and slapped it on. Notice where the oil drain is. I thought it was odd coming out on the right side but I didn't think much about it. That is, until I went to install the PTO foot pedal. Ain't gonna work that way. So I'm in the process of rerouting it now. I was having issues with it starving for fuel at about 1/4 tankful. I figured it was the fuel pump and a full tank was needed to let gravity help. I cleaned it up and found that the valves in the kit weren't right. The diaphragm was bad so with hopes that was just the issue I only replaced that. It didn't help. I had two electric pumps on the shelf and I decided to use one on a temporary basis so I could remove the vacuum pump and contact Then and Now to see what's going on. I whipped up a cover for the pump hole. I did this so I didn't have to drill new holes since it's temporary. You can also see a starter solenoid. I had rewired the tractor shortly after I got it and paid the bucks for the original style switch because I kinda liked the sound of it starting without the 'click'. Let's face it, a solenoid is better. Now it's a run to the hardware store for a couple parts, finish the oil drain, remove the vacuum pump and mount the deck. I'll put her to work and I'll address the fuel pump kit issue in the next couple days.

4 pointsHey folks! Decided to put the real love into this Lawnboy 10520 Gold Series mower. I picked it up at a garage sale a while back and am liking it more and more as I use it. When I got it it wouldn't start and the starter rope was frayed really bad and was short as it only pulled out about 3 feet or so. So I initially cleaned the carb and gas tank, it hadn't been ran in years of course. Also replaced the start rope and it came right to life. It's been fun and a pleasure to use. I see why folks are so high on them. So the "other" things I read on servicing are the exhaust ports and the gear box. The 3 speed transmissions on these are really robust and reliable so let's keep it that way for another 30 years! This one still shifted well through all gears. This was just maintenance. First is getting to the muffler which is under the deck above the blades: Take off the blade assembly and you will see this: remove those 3 screws and the muffler will come off and you will be here Now what you are looking for is checking the exhaust ports, you should see 3 round openings. If they are being blocked by carbon buildup that is what you are cleaning. If you do need to clean them make sure the cylinder is down next to the ports so carbon can't fall into the cylinder. Mine were clear but if they weren't I was going to use a small plastic scraper and have the shop vac running next to it to quickly suck up the carbon as it is broke loose. I cleaned some of the carbon off the bottom base. then just put it back together Next is the gear box for the transmission. It's the cover plate you see on the rear axle that you will remove. I did run the mower out of gas before doing this. You either want to lay it upside down or on it's side. If you do it on the side note the gears can drop out if you are not careful, so don't pull on them when you are cleaning if you don't want to remove them. I did this on it's side. grease was just starting to hardened up a little but was still soft enough it was working and I didn't see any damage to any gear teeth or anything. Cleaned out the old grease as best I could while being careful. packed in new grease then put the cover back on and you're done! Not a complicated job at all but probably the two things that don't get done enough on these mowers. I found where it is recommended to check the exhaust annually. The gear box I couldn't find a change interval. But this is almost 30 years old and it looked like a good time to do it. So once or twice a lifetime maybe isn't bad at all. Now it's ready to be a main worker in the fleet! thanks for looking!

4 pointsThat 3 speed transmission is what got me started on Lawn Boys in the first place. My wifes Lawn Boy, which we bought new in '93 quit moving on it's own. I told her I would go looking for a new mower.THAT was a mistake. She liked the mower and wanted it fixed. NOW Long story short, there is a roll pin on the drive shaft in the trans that sheared. 13 cents, and my wife was happy again. Now I am Azz hole deep in Lawn Boys. The only difference between yours and mine is the bagger attachment on the handle. Be careful. Lawn Boys are like Can't have just one.

4 pointsThe needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. Nothing is guaranteed. We all have the right to the pursuit of happiness but not at the expense of someone else. We just need to understand others plight and not point fingers. We also need to understand the forces behind the unfairness. If we do not it just gets worse. Dying of illness? Half of my family on my fathers side has died of leukemia. My sons and I get tested yearly. I hold no one responsible. My wife has Parkinson's. I hold no one responsible and I am not angry about it . Its life. Nothing to do with the subject at hand. Unfairness to your people in WW2/ Don't know whom that is but I am sure you are right. I spend years with an Holocaust survivor who had a long number tattooed on his wrist. Listened to countless hours of stories of unthinkable suffering, misery, and heartache. Stuff that should be taught in schools rather than just teach the great achievements of a few privileged with power. Want to talk about unfairness? Its not unique to any of us. Sure life is not fair. However when it is not fair because of the actions of the ones with power and influence working for their own means at the expense of the masses that is something else. I came from a place where that was prevalent. It was called a dictatorship. I can recognize the similarity in many actions happening today. I sincerely hope that I am wrong.

4 pointsTrina's decided to resurface out back of the house in the area we call the "fire circle". It's a 26 foot diameter circle of 3/4" crushed stone with an antique truck rim in the center as our fire holder. That rim is surrounded by stones as is many things here. The Yard Decorations Department who also functions as our local stone setting expert will be laying in 12 x 12 x 2 cement pavers. Some gray, some red. Should be an interesting change of scenery but also the chairs will actually sit on top of the cement instead of sinking into the 3/4" stone. She figures it will take around 250 blocks to do what she wants done. The first 40 came home in her little Honda Fit this evening. We used Cinnamon Horse and the 17 cube Agri fab trailer to move a little over half of them from the upper driveway to the backyard.

3 pointsAbout 8 miles from me is my late great grandparents farm. My great grandfather, George, died in 1989. I always knew that his Farmall Cub was still a part of the farm. As I have been told the tractor has not left the farm in the past 50 to 55 years!! The tractor has been in the barn since 02 or 03, the last time it was ran. Monday the Farmall was sitting right out in the front of the garage; I whipped the truck right into the farm! I kinda know the owner of the farm and he said “the tractors for sale”, I said “how much?”, the owner said $500!!. I OWN IT!😀👍 I couldn’t begin to tell you the the memories I have with that tractor, I was born in 84, so I would have been 5 when George passed. The rides on that tractor, the sound when he used to start it up. It’s has a 6 volt positive ground.... which one goes to the starter? Power or ground? It has a sickle bar with an extra bar, extra zenith carb, the grill I have in the box as well as the muffler... it’s all there just the tractor looks used and put away wet.. it’s a 74 year old tractor😀. What do I use for oil... 10w-30? The owner of the farm said the tractors tired... “it runs great for about 30 minutes, and then she just goes south on you”. I can’t wait to hear it fire off for the first time! 😂tips and tricks for the old Farmall? I’m all ears...

3 pointsOk, I'm well aware that this isnt everyone's cup of tea- some frown, and some are flat out disgusted by taking an otherwise decent Horse and taking it off roading. Perhaps give it a watch anyhow, with an open mind. This video was shot in southeast Ohio last weekend. 2 days of hard riding, over a dozen tractors of ALL brands, and not one major malfunction.

3 pointsKev and the clown from WI ( where that is ) remember I have a 1984 El Camino SS which SWMBO refers to the POS. Once she offered the local shop $200.00 to set it on fire, she would furnish lighter fluid and a boxes of matches. They refused , they make too much money off of the POS>

3 pointsMe thinks you nee to take another one of those little blue pills Jimbo... thhhaaatll keep ya busy!
-
3 pointsI am in Rochester NY today. Driving past strip malls, restaurants ect. Cars everywhere. I see NO HELP WANTED SIGNS ANYWHERE. Everything is busy. Parking lots full. No labor shortage here. Where I live, yes signs up. But they also pay a lot less. I honestly feel some companies/ suppliers are actually holding back deliveries on product. Prices have increased and they want them to stay there.
-
3 pointsTalked to Then and Now this morning. They said they would sell me the check valves for $20 + shipping but now decided that the next time I need a pump I will just buy an electric one. I think setting them in JB Weld is going to be a challenge. He did mention that there has been talk about possibly building kits for the plastic pumps

3 pointsDiesel reports here... it was more in Michigan ($3.25) than anywhere else going through Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee and Georgia to Florida, then Florida through Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky and Indiana on the way home. (2.89-3.09 everywhere else)

3 points@953 nut Norman’s also getting a clutch upgrade. Last week, the clutch pedal assembly which holds the master cylinder in place on the firewall, well, it blew out. I am so fortunate that this happened in my driveway the day and a half BEFORE my 2718 mile round trip to get the camper
-
3 pointsNorman will haul the camper, the flat bed will haul tractors. We were going to find an enclosed trailer to pull with a second vehicle and Uncle Jim offered his for the summer, but then this behemoth showed up in Mrs.’ crosshairs and all was over. She even made me pay the dude an extra $100 after I talked him down a bit! Max, the full size trucks shown above have what @Achto calls “juice brakes” meaning no air brakes. Anything with air brakes to operate requires the next level of license. We have many less licenses than what I think European countries are used to. We have boater’s license, cycle endorsements, driver’s license allowing you to drive a car, truck, and haul trailer, then you get into the air brakes and CDLs and chauffeur’s licenses for cargo and people moving, etc. we don’t have licensing for snowmobile riders, just age requirements.

3 pointsDo your self a favor, and join the Farmall Cub Forum: http://www.farmallcub.com/phpBB2/ After your second posts, you can access their manual's section and download a bunch of literature on the Cub. Plus those guys know the Cub inside and out. I also have a '47 Cub. The earlier '47s had the circled "Cub" emblem on the doglegs. The later '47s did not. The Cub was made from 1947 to 1978, and had a few changes over the years.
-
3 points@Adams94 You need a special license to drive those behemoths? @pullstart I wanna see that thing load-up like your Colorado
-
3 pointsShe was a no spark special. I enjoy bringing them back to life... Pretty easy really. Points, condenser, plug wire and coil and she fired right up and ran great... Probably about an hour of trouble free run time... No reason to think any other issues... This is not the end... One way or another, I'll have her pulling my train around this Summer!

3 pointsThey got the lights working and added led rear lights. They were excited to seem them work when they flipped the switches. They have completed so many tasks and learned many new skills by working on this project. It was a perfect little project for them to work on this year. All of the COVID restrictions and virtual learning has taken a toll on them. It really lifted their spirits seeing the results.
