I've never been able to consider working in a hospital because the ones around here have psychological wards and I'm afraid they wouldn't let me out.....

So my friend asked me if I was interested in his tractor. He wanted to sell it and put the money towards repairs on his truck. I said sure ! So as of 30 mins ago I am now the proud owner of a 1075. Its not the prettiest thing but it runs and drives good. I am kicking around the idea of swapping out the tins with the 875. Still no luck on an engine for that one. It would be nice to have the 875 and the 1075. I know the seat and steering wheel are not correct. Those are not Wheel Horse hub caps but they sure look nice. He has over spray on the tires from painting the rims. Paint is in bad shape. I know I can make it look better. I might have a better seat for it. Here are some photos of the new 1075 and the 875 I picked up few weeks ago. They kinda go together like ketchup and mustard.

I've seen it all. Working in the parts store. "I need a fuel pump for an S-10." I send the pump. little while later, " send me a fuel pump relay" This shop is near my house. They call again. " I have power out of the relay but the pump doesn't run" I say "Your power wire to the pump is broke" They say it isn't, I say it is. They say it isn't I say it is. Never mind that I worked in a Chevy garage for 6 years. "Finally I say I'm stopping by on my way home." I get there and he shows me the 12 volts coming out of the pink wire of the relay. I tell him put the truck in the air. So he does and probes the pink wire at the pump connector. "see no power" I say 'your wire is broke" Now this pink power wire is in a plastic split loom. I grab the wire at the pump connector and start pulling it out of the loom. Half way to the front of the truck the wire is now a rubber band. It broke inside the insulation. "TOLD YA!" And I left. (one of my all time favorites)

We needed some bread on evening for an emergency leak. Called the kitchen in the hospital if they could bring us some. Lady didn't understand what we we're doing and she thought we were hungry. They brought us a pizza! TRUE STORY!!!

I don't pull a permit to replace a water heater, and I sure don't pull a permit to change a breaker.

OK I finally tested the box scraper, still needs tweeking and havnt finished welding, but I got a quick test run in while the rain was pelting LOL'

Didn't have any cake but my wife took me to a local BBQ for some pulled pork followed by a dish of ice cream. Life is good, God has blessed me with good health, and some wonderful friends. Who could ask for more.

Left this morning for the 5 mile trip to the show. I'm saving all 50 buckets off parts for the BIG SHOW so Jim and Mike have something to do fighting over the buckets. I parked the Crazy Horse with Charlie Culleys herd. Auction tomorrow morning. Don't we have a lantern guy on here? More to come tomorrow.

I'm at the steamorama show in Windsor PA and I saw this saw with a big Kohler on it somebody painted over the name plate was wondering what horsepower it is? It's about 18 in tall from the base to the top of the fins on the cylinder head and about 12 in wide and deep the thing looks huge

Cars ain't what they used to be. Add in the pressure of flat rate and customers being a PITA. I remember starting out in 79. You brought your car in for a tune up. Plugs were replaced. Cap, rotor, wires, air, fuel filters checked along with the belts. If anything was needed you went to the parts counter got them and replaced them. Customer came in at 5 to pay the bill and they were happy. Today, Plugs are replaced PITA on many vehicles, same stuff checked. Now the customer has to be called. How dare you replace that air filter without my approval! They finally call back at 4:30 and say change the fuel filter I'll be there at 5:00. Now you have a car on the lift, another waiting for approval and you have to get the filter changed before 5 I worked in the shop, I sold parts and am now a customer. I've seen all sides of it. Spare me the drama! When my truck goes in I tell them, if you see anything it needs do it! Call me when it's done.

You better shut the water off too! Don't wanna come home to a flood! Sometimes they start leaking S L O W L Y internally and the water fills between the tank and the jacket. When they used to use the fiberglas insulation, the water would run to the bottom. The foam insulation often stops that and you don't know you have a leak for a LONG time, like you did. Consider a GFCI circuit breaker in your panel. They're $$$ but it would have tripped with that fault.

I like the spin the rim idea with sandpaper, but my buddy Red Green came up with something similar and of course geared to a lazy person. It seems that someone put some Fix A Flat in a rear tire. That stuff was invented by Satan to torture humanity. If you try to sand it or grind it off, you look like a coal miner. I have a gravel pile that i use to fill in the wear spots in the driveway, and old Red just puts the rusty wheel on the Raider 10 and against the #57 limestone and uses a jack to raise the rear of the tractor off the ground a bit.Oh, there might be some manipulation of holding the opposite wheel to regulate the spin of the rusty one, but Red just finds a chunk of wood for that. Then Red went to the kid's sand box and chased the cats away. He put some sand in the wheelbarrow and brought it to the gravel pile to shine the wheels a bit smoother. Ol' Red's a pretty nice guy, but for some reason after he is here, i can never find my duct tape

Yeah.... So this is in my garage now.

Once you find that the voltage isn't above 13.5 running 1. Run a jumper wire from one of the fins of the voltage regulator to the battery NEG terminal and the test again. 2. if that didn't work look for a flat three wire connector coming out of the engine. Separate it. Two of the wires from the engine will be white. Set your multimeter to AC voltage and put one lead in each white wire part of the plug. With engine running 2/3 throttle or more you should see over 30 VAC. If you have that buy a new voltage regulator.

They work off of flow by the use of a flowmeter. Soon as water flow it comes on. Takes a minute to get crankin. wish I tested my water when I had access to the hardness test kit at work. We needed soft water for the boilers. I don't have any scale issues either but I descale it because it's easy and cheap maintenance. House smells like vinegar for a couple of hours. No biggie. just go to the Olive Garden and eat salad!

Cas, Hot water recirc pump in that pic? I have a Rinnai tankless. about 8 yrs now. Love it but I wish I went the extra with a recirc pump. The right way is to add a 3 gal electric with it so the main heater doesn't short cycle on low demand. I descale once a year with white vinegar and a little pump. Best thing is I can send hot water to my garage and run my pressure washer all day and have it hot!

... If you don’t have ball valves already I’d be changing them out to while you’re at it . If you have a problem with the water not stop coming and can’t get it to take solder into the joint you can stuff some bread into the pipe to give you enough time to get it done . Old timer plumber taught me that trick and saved my but many times .

Its actually an electric trailer jack hahaha, I saw the price of the actual linear actuators and they were just too darn expencive, plus they were only good for about 200 pound or a bit less to start. The trailer jack was on sale at Princess auto for 79 bucks canadian plus it can handle 2400 lbs. hehehe, far more then I need. Yuppers for adustment, as you can see I havnt moved the controls up to the seat so I dont have to reach way back. But thats coming. The trailer jack moves a wee bit to slow so Im going to relocate the arm bolts closer to the I think its called the fulcrum??? Ill try to get a few more pics and a short vid showing it in action when I get a chance.

seems like they have you pointed in the right direction, I'm going to guess the bearing on the idler pulley, somewhat easy fix once you can source the pulley.

Something I don’t think I’ve seen in this thread yet @krystolo, is the use of JB Weld or other epoxy type filler. Once you clean up the wheel lip, fill the holes and then get some sand paper and elbow grease and smooth them out The shape of various size fingers matches most any radius and use the filler sparingly... it goes on (in an extra layer if needed) much easier than taking off.

I've told a good many people a good many times over the years... There's a fine line between laziness and efficiency and I ride that line really really tight.

I luv the black hoodies except for the side view front end. There is just too much overhang in front of the axle so I trimmed it down. Other changes to my personal liking is Krylon Red Cherry paint and the decal colors are reversed.

No problem, we got plenty. I came home from the show and thought it would be a good time to mow.....all the grass would blow across the field. Well I'm here now trying to flush the dirt and gass out of my eyes.

Waldo, I remember seeing all those pulleys that guy had...they were Wheel Horse pulleys also. Right, about 2 years ago in the For Sale Classifieds.

@ebinmaine Try K & B just bought 2 deck idler pulleys from him. There was a guy on here a couple of years ago that had a boat load of pulleys for sale. You may want to do a search.

Anything at Tractor Supply? I've seen various pulleys there.Just a thought.

Army School of mechanic repair. truck doesn't start replace batteries still no start replace starter motor, replace ignition switch ... keep replacing stuff til it runs....

@SQUONK, shop I have been using for years , has obviously had to adapt to todays junk , very scary today is the plastic used in engines , most of the external manifolds and fittings are plastic . bmw is scary for upper engine work , couple of hours to get to the engine , to replace manifold and valve cover , while you are there might as well replace the starter , regularly over 2 k , for that replacement ! like i tell my grandson , for you , these are " the good old days " , pete e

About 30 somewhat years ago I had a big mishap here with the water heater while on vacation. The damage was extensive. I was never fond of this type of water heater always heating up the same water when not in use and the fact that when they eventually leak it is usually catastrophic. I went then with an instant water heater such as used in Europe. Peace of mind. Never regretted it. The damage from leaks was eliminated and the gas usage savings was immediately apparent. Also gained lots of space. Still the same heater today. Occasional suggested maintenance on the pilot burner and that is it. Untouched in all of these years.

In the 43 years that I have been in this house, this is only the third water heater that I've had. I don't need a plumber. I am a do-it-yourself kind of guy. ...and after having a pipe break while I was away for the day, if I go away these days I always turn off the pump and close the main valve.

Not enough current leakage to trip a 30A breaker. The GFCI would have tripped though. GFCI for many areas may be 'code' now BTW. It is in my area. But 'grandfathered'. If you pull a permit for new WH, you have to also pull electrical to change the breaker. "Permits? We don't need no steeenking permits!"

I’m a fan of the Facet electric pumps. However if you want to rebuild the original metal one you can get a kit at “Then and Now Automotive. Their website is down but Google their name to get their phone number. It’s best to talk to them anyway with old pump in hand to insure you get the right kit
