12 pointsWith an epic fail a few years ago, I'm ready to give this concept another try. This build promises to give me a ride on the wild side just like my wheel standing WH. This one will be half Wheel Horse, with components from Cub (Ross) steering, Case spindles and half go kart. This is not going to be a tractor in any sense of the word. Once I discovered wheel barrow go karts It didn't take me very long to find a wheelbarrow and it was game on. With plently of parts on hand, all I needed was a noble reason to get Donna behind this project. And that is.....I will build a roller for the grand kids to drive as I pull them. When the time is right I will add the engine. My first photo is just a teaser, a full mock up photo is forthcoming. It's my thing

12 pointsAs cheap as snowplows are these days, I figured my extra one would be an economical base to build upon. The gold is just some cheap paint to highlight the dry cement and dents.

10 pointsSome Horsie parts mixed with a Gravely to produce a 4 X 4 woods machine. when I saw this all I could think of was @ebinmaine I put this in the other brands forum to satisfy the https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYhj6vNyprA

7 pointsThis is my C-160 automatic. These are tiller tires with the hubs shortened and tapped for a grease zerk to fit the spindles. I use brass bushings and plenty of grease. They turn well in snow and in the garden.

6 pointsWorking on old rusty's transmixer, and used the smart phone camera to take a closer look at this reduction gear bearing. Works pretty good, showed the wear on the rolling elements that my old eyes could not see. Worked good for getting those tiny bearing numbers too!

5 pointsA friend of mine just sent me this picture and I had to study it for a while. Sometimes it looks real and sometimes it doesn't but if it is real don't think I would want to mow with it!

5 pointsNo problem... it is clearly a restoration of a Wheel Horse Plow...

5 pointsYes, My Cub 100 is wearing a pair of those and I can switch em. During this mock up stage I'm dreaming of Silver Lake Michigan running wild on the sand dunes

5 pointsMy experience...Rubber has more traction than steel on plowed bare paved surfaces. Without question on packed snow, ice, and unpaved surfaces, 2 link V-bar steel chains on turfs will outperform rubber.

4 pointsOn this I will use a power tool. My jigsaw with a metal blade to rough cut taper on metal . From here it will be all done with a file.

4 pointsDon’t really get much snow here nowadays, but these work ok in the mud. Do need to add more weight to the front though. 🏋️♀️🏋️♀️🏋️♀️

4 pointsSerial/Model Decal on fender near the seat still legible? Where is the motion control lever on steering column or trans tunnel? Straight 88/89 or swept front axle 1990 newer? TORO on hood decal? Thin 1995 and older, or thick foot rest pads 1996/97? Gold lettering and horse head? would be an Anniversary model 1996 early 1997. Pics?

4 pointswell, i have a drive that ends at the bottom of a hill and tends to freeze in place after the plow trucks have graciously shared the road's snow with me.. so i went full out and got an "H" pattern V bar with twisted links: like this: although i haven't had any luck finding the website i bought them from a couple years ago (didn't blow snow at ALL last year!) they have been AWESOME this year. I put oversized ag tires on, filled those 80% with RV antifreeze and then also put cement wheel weights in. has been a huge change for me trying to get traction in that crud at the end of my driveway

4 pointsI know this is an old thread, but i wanted to bump it to say that i replaced the headlamps and it is WAYY better. while i was on the superbrightled website, i also bought replacement rears and a flashing module for them. Lights Flasher one flasher is sufficient for both lights so i have a total of about 15 dollars into this. the LED tail lights are also sealed, so i anticipate no moisture problems with them. tail lights.mp4

4 pointsI altered a small set off a walk behind to fit my fronts on the 520. They do help steering, but the results I'm hearing from members that have used the #40 roller chain sound much better. The problem I found with regular size chains were they rubbed the tie rod end and understandably, the cross chains would have less side to side traction than a circumferential chain.

4 pointsSorting out some photos from my old i phone I found a few of interest. Before I had a wheelhirse I built a tank! Well model tank. 1/6 scale, all metal, weighed more than me, fully powered and radio control. This is it sitting in the garden, looks impressive enough. But I took it indoors while SWMBO was out shopping one day. No big problem other than the track marks on the carpet gave me away and I got a good talking to lol. Five feet long is a bit big so it had to go in the end. Mick

4 pointsI had a similar thought of making a set of rubber chains for the rears. Using an old larger tire and cut away the areas required to create rubber strap chain. I neve had the correct size old tires to try it, but Mrs. Ks van is due for some new shoes so ......

4 pointsDoing again my beloved joke at the filling station. Fill up the car to max. Get a Carwash Go in with my checkcard in the sleeve in and pay by just touching with the arm onto the Cardreader. stumbling to myself so loud others can hear „Dang - how cool is that, the last shot must contain a chip like they told it really works and i wouldn’t believe.... that’s really freaking cool“ An enjoy the looks from the others they can hear..😂 while i was waiting for the carwash portal. while i wait outside for the carwash portal to be ready, the previous customer rides out and do a stop so that no other car can move in or out and check his car for whatever reason. Firstly i thought he had a damage but than.... it appears newer car and the owner sniffs a lot while check it, therefore i increased my distance to safety 4 meters and tell him he would be please so kind to release the portal and move his car outa Way he is not the only one customer for the day.- ( what an idiot) it depends a second friendly pleasure and he moved his car 3 meters away so others can drive into carwash portal. While my car wash begin’s i see the idiot how he discuss with himself that the result of the carwash was a massive blame and some other blah blah.... than he had a hurry in a explosive sneeze, but in first step he rip the mask of his face maybe in the hope not to contamine it. glad i was moved before 4 meters away in luv 😷 - hey that works, the fresh washed car was a candidate for a second turn...🤪😆😂 that makes my Day...

4 pointsLife would be dull if we only obtained what we needed. I only need one gun, but I have many, not sure how many. I bought a new 520 in 1989 ,that's all I would need, I have ten now now and still looking. He who dies with the most wheel horse tractors wins. Better jump on that bad boy, many others out there like me and they aren't making any more.

4 pointsThey're a link too short I think but they sure do hold. Here's a pic of the ratchet strap in action.

3 pointsI've always tried to catch the sun to help with melting off what snow I leave. Sun even helps salt do it's job. And the sun does move through the trees and quickly shades the porch and front of the drive so I have to plan what I do with the sun.

3 pointsI have one Horse set up for plowing the short section of pavers. Rubber chains and PVC plow edge. Yesterday tried to use it to clean up the rest of the drive after snow blowing. Surface is packed snow and ice. They were terrible. Packed snow and Ice you need Steel!!!

3 pointsGood idea but doubtful studded screws would do less damage to asphalt than the roller chain if that's the main concern. The roller chain is only about $20 or so and added weight will help keep them from sliding sideways on the driveway more. It's the side sliding that leaves the most marks so if you notice the tractor sliding with the roller chain or the studs, stop taking such a big bite to keep the tires rolling forward. If you're still using the steel scraper bar and not something else like PVC for the scraper then that will leave more scrape marks than the chains or studs do. AG lug tires have enough depth in the treads to just stud them. Bicycle chain is too small and it will roll on the tire and roll off. Not sure if the tire cover would do the same, they would need to be anchored well to the tire.
-
3 pointsEd, I suspect that because you do it is a big reason why you can still do it. Hats off.

3 pointsI had turf tires on the front of our Bronco 14 and I had to replace them. I debated between Ags and the V-61's. I went with the Ag's. I have used it one time in the snow so far and it did good. I have them turned forward. The last steer tires I had on it were loaded, and I need to load the new ones. It will make a difference. The turfs did good loaded.

3 pointsThose are pretty high end snow blowers. Probably cost an arm and a leg. steve
