8 pointsI'm sometimes called a Jackass! I do that at my day job. I put a pad and pencil in my hand. If the boss comes in and I wake up I mutter, "Thank You Jesus, AMEN!" turn and say "What's up Boss?" ... can't bust me for PRAYING! Hopefully he doesn't notice that long squiggly line on the paper that happened as I dozed off!

8 pointsTwo projects today required on tractors that were bothering me for weeks! I just kept avoiding working on them! I had my 853 set up for snowplowing this winter. Used it twice but noticed a leak and saw it was coming from one side of the tank underneath. I have owned this tractor for five years and never had a leak before. However, it is one of those two piece tanks and low and behold it was leaking out the side. So I see the sheet metal screws are not original and that means the previous owner must have put a new seal in. Turns out the sheet metal screws were loses! Loosened up I suppose from use! I tighter all up snd no more leak. However I will probably redo in summer with some permatex or whatever on the sheet metal screws. The second issue was my B80 that had not been running correctly and I have changed spark plug, cleaned carb and carb needle and finally started to run ok. Put the snowplow on the B80 and completed one pass on the dive and she died. Started again and she died. Ok what is it? I pushed her back in the garage and got her running again and adjusted carb . Sat on seat and turned her over and when I released my foot from clutch she died. So I figured must be an electrical safety switch issue! Looked at PTO switch, clutch then seat! Ah ha, my seat is a replacement Michigan Seat from Northern Tool from about nine years ago. It has a place for the original seat safety switch. However, the switch has a sticky foam pad that holds it to the seat bottom to ground. It was hanging loose probably from the cold etc. So I cut a piece of black duct tape and stuck the pad back on the seat bottom! Started like the old days, ran for thirty minutes as I finished the driveway plowing and glory be that was the needed fix! Mind you 19 today when I started and warmed up to 22 degrees but done by noon!

7 pointsJust really quick want to mention that I choosed right, ever since i have a Wheel Horse, I loved the look an the serviceability of them. Never seen one in person before, but youtube convinced me, then finding red square, I had to find a nice horse. we are 2 months further, and I am having some bad luck with the trannys: Welded hubs, loose axles, disapeard axle bearings, loose hubs, oh yeah, did I already mentioned that they are all leaking tranny fluid. So I started on fixing trannys today at 8p.m. local time here. I already was finding these trannys so heavy, but when i opened it........ WOOOOWWW that final gear is HUUGEEE! Applause for Wheel Horse , the damn quality off this stuff. I finally convinced my parents that that old junk, maybe old, but surely ain't junk!

7 pointsI make a new pin (weld a piece of steel on 3/4 round stock ) Drill out the axle to 7/8" and press in two sleeve bearings.

7 pointsToday is tranny day, removing hubs, replacing seals. Made myself a hub puller, ain't the best one for the hubs, but it's better then the hammer. Working on 3 transmission at the moment, all with leaking axle seals. OEM seals, how long will they last on average? Once the tranny's are good, time to restore the pre-toro 314-8 with the K321 and 8 pinion 1 1/8 inch axles tranny And protecting the decks against rust before the season. @ebinmaine because you asked: pics!

7 pointsIt took me 20 years to get my driveway paved doing it a little bit at a time myself over the years. But before that it was covered with rock. I made my driveway purposely extrawide so that when I would plow snow I would actually start in the middle and plow to the outside so that the snow and gravel would pile up along the edge of the driveway. When the snow would melt, I would simply take my snow blade and spread the windrows of gravel from the outside back towards the middle of the driveway. It’s a little unconventional I guess but it worked well for me.

6 pointsI’ve got stuff everywhere. Some was inherited when we bought the place, some came with us. I came into some long slabs of wood, weathered and warped. I grabbed the old rack and boy does it make firewood easy! The old 18” 450 Husky makes it easier!

6 pointsThe last one it was the front hole egged out. The tab on the pin if it is still bolted in place seems to protect the rear frame hole. Just made a small plate drilled to 3/4 and welded it on the front. You need to make your new pin longer

5 pointsI have to become like @stevasaurus I have 3 trannys the two from bizon, One i know, had a loose axle, hub is thight on her, he couldn't get it off, an i stripped a bolt, bent my puller with it only a hammer could get her loose in the vise. But the other 2 after replacing the axle seal, somehow the bearing just disapeard. You wouldn't know it because the axle is sits in pretty strait. Seems like am gone have to crack open 3 transmissions, better get to work.

5 pointsFinally got started on a heavy maintenance of the 418A. show about 1300 hrs but the meter didn't work when I got it and has had sporadic outages since. Has been running fine but i am sure she would benefit from a decarboning and I want to tighten up the front axle pivot pin and some other wear points...The heated office space in the work shop is getting crowded.

5 pointsHey Max, the bearings perhaps slid inwards towards the 1533 bearings & only way to know is split the cases. When installing any of the caged needle bearings they should always be pressed in. Hammering them in can distort the cages leading to premature failure. I invested in some cheap tools to make things go easier. Bearing Puller Seal installer

5 pointsHey Frank, the 8 speed doesn’t have too many leak points. Input shaft, brake shaft, axle shafts and case gasket. The gear shifter has a boot and the hi-low shifter has nothing. Not too much fluid gets tossed that high to leak out. My best suggestion would be to wash the transmission well with a degreaser and or a pressure washer. Put some masking tape under the shafts mentioned and near the case gasket. Run it a while, check the tape for moisture. That should indicate where it’s coming from. The key is to not let the leak point to saturate everything before you check.

4 pointsAll I planned to do to my 854 was just tidy a few things up; we all know how that goes. I have a new seat cover to install and when I removed the old one I found a 1/4" thick steel plate bolted on top of the cracked original seat pan. Removed the seat pan and saw how they are held together: The reinforcing plate is crimped to the upper pan and it works loose over time causing the seat to twist and crack, so I straightened out the metal and used our resistance spot welder to put them together properly and permanently. It will look factory and hold up much better. Also mig-welded the cracks in the top of the pan.

3 pointsI know it could be used, but wood is my primary heat source. That makes it pretty valuable to me. I have used plenty of firewood for various things around the house too... I’ll probably stash some of this for bird houses too.

3 pointsMy BBT is funny. Extra tractor parts. Oddball pieces of metal. rods and linkages. Sheet metal. Anything odd like that if I want to throw it away she don't care. You put your hands on a piece of scrap Lumber? No no no no no. Don't throw that away! I can use that for something.

3 points@pullstart, here is the JD blade,https://www.ebay.com/itm/John-Deere-970-used-Front-End-Hydraulic-7-Snow-Plow-/353260086740?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l4929 easy on and off after the brackects are attached, basically same blade if adapted to work on the Kioti, VERY heavy duty fully hydraulic (uses the loader control valve) can be locked out for Dozer work or floating/trip for snow, plus like you said mid/front 2000rpm PTO and rear 540 Cat 1 3pt attachments, now you seen why I have been slowly migrating to these SCUTs, it opens up a whole new world, I love my but one size won't do it all and MFWD fuel sipping diesel power and attachment expandability that standard garnden tractors can't touch, both of mine are 20-22hp but the Kioti is a bit larger/heavier for more "hobby farm" work than the eMax which to me is just an oversized xi IMO

3 pointsI've only taken apart 1 so far, but have another under my bench that I need to open at some point. Axles have messed up key-ways on them. I watched lots of videos (most from Stevasaurus) and I was able to do it just fine. I got some replacement parts from Lowel at Wheel Horse Parts & More, and Lincoln at A-Z Tractors. EDIT: If you run into any stumbling blocks, there is plenty of people on here who will be able to help.

3 pointsGet yourself a good work surface that will hold the transmission. I put a hole in my workbench to do so. Get a very sharp wood chisel about three quarters or one inch wide. Use that to tap into the case gasket all the way around and after two or three revolutions it will come apart nice and easy. These transmissions are really no problem at all to work on if you're prepared for it. I've had at least a half a dozen apart. Maybe more.

3 pointsThis is Patriot Horse B80 back when it had the heavy tires and wheel weights. Tractor weight at this point was probably about 950 lb. I ran it without chains because I wanted the so-called weak link to be the lack of traction and even then you can see what it was capable of without much effort...

3 pointsAs for power/gearing- I have a 655 for sale and you wouldnt believe how many folks said 'no thanks' when they found out its 'only' 6hp. My keeper 655 'lil booger' impresses me more every time I use it. People get too hung up on big power, which is not always needed......
