Have been away from the hobby for a while but couldn't pass up this latest project. Nice to get the itch back to tinker around when time permits. Loaded up and ready for home.........

I went fishing this morning, but after a short time I ran out of worms. I'm standing on shore and out of the corner of my eye, I see a cottonmouth with a frog in its mouth. "Frogs are good bass bait!" I thought to myself. Knowing the snake couldn't bite me with the frog in his mouth, I grabbed him right behind the head, took the frog, and put it in my bait bucket. Just then, I realized I had a problem, how was I going to release the snake without getting bit?? So, I grabbed my bottle and poured a little whiskey in its mouth. The snakes eyes rolled back and he went limp. I released him without incident and carried on fishing using the frog. A little later, I felt a nudge at my foot. There was that saaaame snake with two more frogs in his mouth!!!

Decided with the nice weather predicted for today I contacted my neighbor last weekend to see if he was interested in removing a few trees. He retired last year from the sheet metal trade doing commercial and industrial type jobs. He owns some nice acreage around me and enjoys the challenge. The first tree to go is the Oak tree with a Maple in the v shape form in the first picture. The Maple I left but the Oak is a real pain with acorns not being able to park anything nice under it and the leaves are ridiculous. I do cut trees myself but I had an idea that this Oak with it's lean was going to pull the old barber chair trick, which it did. The second tree was a Black Birch again with a good lean, but no barber chair upon felling. The last were Pines and small Oaks located near the house. Hopefully split this up this weekend. This wood other than the pine will be used to add to future years firewood. The Husky's were singing today and the 418-A was on hand ready to help. Nothing much better on a cool fall morning and the smell of 2 stroke oil.

This is a side hood badge from an old truck. We picked it off of a junk hood up north back in August. I figured on cleaning it up a bit and mounting it .... Somewhere. This morning. 11/20/20. I noticed it on the front of the workbench downstairs. A place I've walked by several times a week for years. So I says to BBT... How long's that thing been on the bench? She just laughs out loud. I'm thinking "well $h**".... Been there since October 19th..

Ahhhh, 2020, what a year! Been a whirlwind of strangeness with Covid 19 obviously leading the pack. Ran across these ---- interesting? comments about how we have been affected, I got a pretty good chuckle - which was nice for a change! 1. The dumbest thing I ever bought was a 2020 planner

I know I know...it’s Friday evening and this is supposed to be a Saturday and Sunday thread . Cut and hauled wood this afternoon with my trusty C-105 and Husqvarna 455 Rancher.

Welcome back Scott! I was at @ACman’s place just yesterday and we were talking about how well you put on a meet and greet and plow day! A lot has changed since then at Pullstart Stables! Here’s a few pics to put a smile on your face... when we were at your place (6 years ago?) my girls were riding on my lap plowing the field!

I was wondering who might catch on to that. This tractor was previously owned by the northern Indiana sales manager for Wheel Horse, Ed Sullivan. Ed played football for the University of Notre Dame and was the center for Paul Hornung. He passed away in 2015 and the tractor moved next door to his neighbors before he passed. Ed was able to secure this piece of history that was in fact used down at the raceway.

Hello everyone. I'm David from Norway. I just got this tractor. It is a Toro Wheel Horse 270H Model No. 72110 with serial 6900--- so I belive it is a 1996 model. The 48" mower deck is Model No (78268-8900001). If I'm not wrong the mower deck is newer than the tractor. If I can find parts for it, my plan is to restore it. The steering need some new parts, need to replace the spindle assembly on the mower deck. Need to fix the hood also. All in all I hope this is going to be a fun project.

I am still waiting on a new fuel pump for my C 141. After it's installed, it will go to storage for the winter. BUT..... Today I went on a road trip and picked up another project for next spring. A 656. It has a 6 hp. Tecumseh on it that is currently stuck. I don't know anymore about it than that. If the motor is beyond saving, this might turn into my "custom fun" tractor. I usually like to restore things back to original, but sometimes that simply isn't practical. I may re-power this with anything I can find, and simply turn the tractor into a LEAN MEAN RUNNING MACHINE. It has no deck, but I did get a Wheel Horse dump cart with it. It seems to be a very simple tractor, and could be a lot of fun. It has new tires and wheels all the way around, and it has been sanded and primed. It will go to storage for now, and I will hunt for parts over the winter.

Well in another week and it will be time to do your Christmas displays. Lets see some of those displays if you have them up already involving your garden tractors and big tractors any makes and models! Dad had so many machines we could have done this at least 4 or 5 more times over. LOL. Here is one we use to do on my late dads (craig bottjer) place. It was thought up by my wonderful wife. Lots of folks around here remember it and miss it. I even strung green and yellow leds on the deeres and red leds on the old rj58. We did it for years. Whenever I am able to buy a home I will do this wherever i live.

My smarty pants daughter we usually call Rylee... just says “Daddy. You’re kind of nice, but kind of a weird dude. What’s in the middle of weird and nice?” Me... “I love you too kid.”

That's nothing. I am convinced that my wife could freeze to death without realizing she was cold. Several years ago she said she wanted a new Dyson vacuum cleaner. So I went and got her one. I took it out of the box and set it right next to the old one. It sat there for months without being used. During that same time period she used the old one multiple times and never once noticed the bright purple Dyson sitting right next to it. She didn't know it was there until we were at the store one day and she put one in the cart and I asked her what was wrong with the one at home. Another example is our garage door trim. She drives a Jeep with big tires and it's a sorta tight fit in the garage. Occasionally she will rub the garage door frame with a tire. One time she did more than rub it and broke the trim on the door all to hell. Our trim is painted a dark charcoal color and is lilly white on the inside. After she broke it you could tell from a block away that it was broken. I replaced and repainted the trip in April last year and she didn't notice until August when she did it again.

My wife has a habit of putting her glasses on the top of her head while working in her sewing room. Frequently she will be looking all over the house for them, I silently chuckle for a while before I can't hold the laughter in any more. Where were they the last time you couldn't find them honey?

Kev, your fun is just starting. I raised a daughter who is getting closer to forty. I don't know what she means when she talks to me anymore now than when she was in public school. She seems to think everything i do is weird. Doesn't matter, cause I ain't changing.

If you want an honest answer just ask a ten to twelve year old! Just have to be prepared to have your ego crushed from time to time. Apparently a Dad with two great daughters.

SWMBO puts things that are not needed much away somewhere safe. Oh! They're safe alright. Trouble is she expects me to know where she put them.

The older you get , the more you forget where stuff is , who put that there and why did I walk into the room. Don't ask why I know , I forget the answer.

Unless your building a show tractor It would be better to replace it with a metal fender. That plastic is 35 years or so old It's not going to take much to bust it.

I used to travel quite a bit for work. Woke up one morning at about sunrise. Didn't remember what city I was in. Looking for clues, I looked out the window - one hotel parking lot looks pretty much like all of the others. Next, I turned on the tv hoping for a local news show - no help. Wasn't until I found the hotel address in the fine print in the information book on the desk that I got my answer.

Welcome back Scott. I saw Indy 500 all over that horse. If you were getting back in the hobby, it would take something like that. What a nice piece of history you have there.

Another good day of fabrication. I made up the solid link between the lift arm and plow frame. Made the plow support bracket from 32.mm Square bar threaded M12 with a high tensile bolt through the back plate. I may put some steel plate round the base of this bar to stop it twisting, or weld it in place. I fancy keeping it removable so I can fit other attachments. Watch this space. This is how Fred looks with the plow blade in place. It swings from straight across to angled either direction, locking at three different angles. Im pretty happy so far. Next is the anti sway mechanism at the front end. Im looking at using the mule drive mounting fir that in some way. Then I'm thinking about making a bracket and bar that will sit in the Tachomatic mounting and secure the plow for travelling. Mick

I agree that the big bucks got old by being wiser than most. I've never seen this one during the day but have night pictures of him last year and now this year. His wisdom seems to be night travel and feeding. I have several pictures of him trying to knock more corn/protein out of the feeder

We did have to use a 1999 F-250 with a cable hooked to the hitch ball to tension up 1 of the pines near the house. Haven't been behind the wheel of a FORD in 35 years, felt like old school stuff. She did good.

Doing a bit better Pict on the cleaned and reworked Pulley. than i decided to clean the Hubs with the Wirebrush I find my Never Dull and polished the Chromestack to shine brighter as the Sun😎 The Screw‘s for the Rim’s i cleaned also and remove all the rust. than i use the black color i had in spare from my FEL Built, to paint the Screwheads in Black. at least i wirebrushed also complete the rear Fender and decided to Paint it also but that smooth Paint is too different to it‘s style. I found that the structured Fender fits better to it‘s image. Because i like the structured Surface it has before, i experimented with rests of structured Paint and hope i can nearly get this structure Back on the Surface as it was before. after first primer it was gone and bored plain - i wait for 20 min before added firstly RAL3003 onto surface, simply Plain waaaah. No, not a Style that fit‘s.... Than i spray it over wet in wet with a structured coating paint i had 2 bottles as rests of. i wasted both bottles and the result looks exact similar as before. Tried to fastened up the curetime with a old hairdryer and give it a curetime of another 30 min then again with RAL3003 in 2 Steps. firstly in lenght direction second in width direction allway‘s with a „Hairdryer curetime“ of 20min and additional cure of 30 min. so at least it was too dark in the Shed to see it clearly on the Pict‘s I guess. But a structure is definitively given, it seems it looks nearly like before. That‘s how it turns out for the moment. Finally curetime will depending and i will see tomorrow, how it looks finally. The structure felt like sandboard on skateboards but a little rougher. except the Area on the Wheelhorse Sticker, that was protected with mask tape and stay as it was. i like it.

I suppose, just like Scotch, you have to develop a taste and a liking for it. There is 6 bottles in a case, and I have gone through a case and a half this year. I need to go pick up another case before Thanksgiving. As far as Kevin, I told him he should try a shot in a glass of Ginger Ale with ice. A shot of Rock & Rye also cuts the whiskey nicely. BTW...I was on to Eric's story when he mentioned a Cotton Mouth...he is too far north for one of those. He might have fooled me if it had been an eel. Tons of those in Maine...harmless, but I bet they like frogs.

If those are Wheel Horse white wall tires, you may just have an Indy 500 tractor. Post the serial number when you get a chance & some one should be able to confirm or dismiss this.

there was a request yesterday from England for plastic paint for fender , I don't see request again , but looked up the issue , turns out , there is a ( PLASIIC PAINT ADHESION PROMOTER ) that should be used after a very thorough cleaning and sanitizing of the item to be painted . with out this PROMOTER , the paint will not properly set up and cure . the video related was at a detail body shop , that specialized in plastic refinishing on car bodies . probably easy to find a related site , just use . " PLASTIC PAINT ADHESION PROMOTER " in your search request . pete

While working on a weight rack for the crane tractor I found that I needed to open up 3/8" holes to 25/64" or larger. If you ever had to drill a hole by the next size up or 2 in thin metal then you know the twist drill will grab and spin in the chuck or worse snap off the cutting edge. If you have access to a bench grinder this trick will solve that problem. Grind a flat at the cutting edges so that the drill resembles a spade drill. It will still drill and not grab.

We keep our cat food in one of those popcorn tins they sell at Christmas. We keep it on top of the refrig in the kitchen. I went to grab it this morning and as I was lowering it down the lid popped off and landed on my head then hit the floor. Sounded like a Ringo Starr cymbal crash!
