A huge victory on my 57 bolens. When I had this up with the wheels off since sometimes the hub pawls wouldn't engage. Had me worried. I already have a lot of time and money sunk into this one. So yesterday in between breaks at the "home office". I took the hubs off and began the investigation. A number of things, biggest issue was the rock hard 63 years of grease. The hubs took a kerosene bath, I dug deeper, the pawls were fine, interestingly I was able to find nos pawls as a backup, they measured the same, no wear on the pawls. So the right side has a small roll pin that guides a spring to change the direction of the pawl, that had a slight bend which was binding up, that I corrected. Biggest disappoint was the hubs the grooves have wear, but they seam to be engaging ok. I am sure finding a set of hubs is near impossible now. I would be more concerned if I was going to run this tractor alot. For the very limited use they get I am sure it will be ok for the yard. Small steps. Looks like I have some time now to work on it again, too bad the paint dept closed for the winter. Got the rims painted too!

They are tearing down an old steam plant at the campus I'm based at. They have a crane lifting a platform with a mini excavator on it with a jack hammer. Operator is in a boom with a remote control. About 100' up I took this picture during a break in the ice,snow squalls that were coming through. It was snowing heavily while I was leaving and he was still up there!

I had this hood in my shop this morning to replicate what appears to be an original c-195 hood that a southern Illinois client is restoring. Never seen one of these before. Does anyone have any info about this tractor? Also noticed that the hood decals were in fact linen beige background and not white?

The owner of it purchased it from someone in IN. Hoping I can get some more history from my customer who is commissioned to completely restore it. G&W Lawn Tractors Noble IL Did their first Wheel horse in 2019 for this very happy customer.

Good news y’all! After some cleaning and organizing, I don’t much need to get rid of any big wheels! I didn’t:t realize I needed to, but some here think I aughtta! I even had some time to spin around and think of what I’ve done!

I decided I needed a way to carry some things around when working with the tractor. This is not a "Wheel Horse" attachment, but will work with any Category 1 three point. The idea came from a Kubota guy that did some great videos on how to make it. I decided to go with a Rural King "King Kutter" frame for three reasons: 1) it was red and I didn't have to repaint it to match, 2) I liked the RK mounting points better than TSC because they were mounted away from the frame farther and accept quick hitch if you use that, and 3) out of three TSC location around me, NONE had thier County Line carrier in stock. RK had three for the same price of $159. I added a hitch receiver to move utility trailers. I beefed it like the video by adding a piece of steel and routing out the underside so it sat flush. For chainsaw carrier I routed out a 2x6 enough to fit the saw bar. My rear tires are water filled, but this adds a little more weight as well. I plan to get a big HF (1K) furniture dolly to put under it when not attached because it's too heavy to slide around. I can get that for $12. A handmade one cost more than that in just wheels. @DennisThornton that snow blade was originally for a old wards walk behind. I fabbed it up to mount to the suburban and used it for several winters. Its a reversible blade. Was alot of fun! I actually passed the tractor and blade along to others to enjoy these days. But i sure moved alot of snow with it!

I actually removed the mid mount hitch and used those holes for the front attachment point and at the rear axle I attached it and then I used existing holes underneath the dash tower for a set of attachment points in the middle of my frame.

Thank you for not posting a picture! My wife is an avad sewer and has five machines (or more) including an embroidery machine that has to be connected to a computer. Each one cost more than any of my tractors. She was looking over my shoulder when I began reading your thread and if there had been a picture I would have been doomed.

She is worn. pull the pivot pin and see if it is worn. If the pin is worn you can make a new one from 3/4" stock. The hole in the axle may also be wallowed out. You can drill it out to 7/8" and press in a couple of sleeve bearing to tighten things up.

Thats the DePauw University McKim Observatory 1884. I live on the high point of Greencastle, Indiana. I have an old posting somewhere about the building -do a search for McKim Observatory on Red Square and it should pop up. Very neat brass telescope made in London, England and a center timer clock mechanism to keep the telescope aligned to what you are viewing.

Passed my bike test at 16. Since then something like over 40 of various makes and sizes, have passed through my hands. Last one went 10rs ago. Just as aside to amuse. At 17 I got my car provisional licence. One day driving home from town, dad beside me. Mother and sister in the back. My sister who had passed her test a couple of years previously, started winding my mother up. Saying I was driving too fast etc. etc. and set my mother off. I was only doing 40-45mph. I had a bike that would do 90. Upshot was when we got to the junction on the edge of the village, they wanted to go into the village. I switched of the engine and got out. Dad said, "What you doing?" I replied, "Going home." I was told years later, my sister got a right royal bollocking off my dad. I never drove a car again for another 6yrs.

I took off my 36 inch mower deck on my B-80 today and put on my 42 inch snowplow. I also took the 854 out for a spin and warm up. Must have been about 52 or 53 degrees this afternoon but nice and sunny! Good solar power charging weather! I hooked up rear of plow to rear hitch and went to attach short lift link but not reaching! I forgot I moved the rear rod forward for my 854 tractor last year! So I dropped plow frame and repositioned the 3/4 hitch rod. I also used a new short link for the lift that I bought several years ago. I use to use a loose chain link. Everything working fine on the test run! No need for chains here as we rarely get more than 8 to ten inches of snow! But who knows what this year could bring - the track record does not give me confidence in a mild winter!

I bet most of you are not surprised y what you’re about to read, but I’d be up for that job! Along with radio/cell tower lightbulb changer, water tower painter, skyscraper window licker...

I know there are plenty of motorcycle enthusiasts here. I’ve grown up on three wheelers and quads, dirt bikes and motorcycles treated as such. Today, after legally owning road bikes for over 15 years, I took my test! The chick in front of me was not fit to be riding, almost flipped over the handle bars numerous times, stalled, etc. it was a Honda 125 little thing. I couldn’t even see the cones to swerve through, just had to use my instincts. I did set my foot down once on the immediate right turn from a stop, but we both passed. After one more trip to the DMV, there will be no more nervous looks in the mirror of over my shoulder. I could have and should have taken the time to do this many years ago. Back when I was dating my wife, I got pulled over with just my temporary permit and he basically told me to go home, he didn’t want to deal with me. In a way, they make it to easy to operate without an endorsement. I can renew my tabs year after year, with a simple postcard letter threatening to tow my bike if I get pulled over. No more are those days!

I'd say 150-200 lbs. or more? No, the loader/grapple/whatever you pick up weigh a lot, so more weight on the rear was what I was looking for.

Well, missed a good sized doe at 200 yards. I need to practice more with this gun, I had no idea to aim high or dead on. Good news, is I saw 4 does at separate times today! At least it was a clean miss, she jump, ran, stood while I reloaded then ran across the neighboring field, then across the street about 1/8th mile away. Just then, a different doe camp into the grass and bedded down. I’ve created such a good bedding area for them, I can’t even see them walk! Time to mow more lanes and clearings to direct them! I walked the trail where she ran and stopped, no blood. I’d rather clean miss than wound, but I’d much rather be gutting a deer! @Ed Kennell Sailor’s delight! I ended the night laying on my backpack near the edge of the field, until dark dark.

I've bought a Kwik way FEL loader frame from @JCM Jim. For the time being I'm going to be using it as basically a secondary frame on my big wheel tractor build. I want to use the front 3/4" rod of the loader frame to attach somewhere on the front of the tractor which is most likely to be the holes where the front attach a matic would have actually been originally. What I would like to do is use some sort of very firm strong clamp instead of the levers. What could do that for me?

All I have to say is some has a big set to do that. The rest of the photos show " hold my beer and watch this ".

I like how they made the effort to use a people cage but not the correct lift and don't bother to even strap the pallets down....

Your is most likely from he Skinner Irrigation Company. They have several patents on such drills.

I feel like the big ‘ole monster bucks that are old like the Uncle Jim’s of the world won’t bother a bait pile. They got old and mean by being wiser than most. For putting meat in the freezer, there is nothing wrong with adding a little enticer. I feel like there is no way that it could aid to the spreading of CWD or other deadly deer issues, any more than farmer’s crops, my garden, or a food plot. That’s what I think

I had a Honda CB350 while I was in college. Used it as a commuter tool. A friend of mine had a Kawasaki KZ 1000. I took it for a short ride around the neighborhood. Grabbed a hand full of throttle, then took about three blocks to catch up with the bike to close the throttle. That cured me from the super bikes.

I changed mine over to front wheels off a tractor so they would have bearings....

Actually i use these sleeves. They provide additional lube. Also If anything wears over time it will be them not the axle or the pivot pin and they are cheap and easy to replace.

Years ago there was an old permanent wood stand in the "v" of of big birch tree. The way sat in it felt like you were in a j3 piper cub, everyone called it the airplane stand. Once in it you couldnt fall out. On the coldest days you would bring a sleeping bag to crawl in. Never got cold in that stand. Only downside is sometimes I fell asleep

First question yes the phone on the wall still works, it is the same phone that we use in our house. And that's what we are thinking it was made to hold pipe for drilling, and can't find a name or patent number, no marks of any kind.

Took a couple hour off for a road trip. I needed another 42" SD. It had a roller attached. I couple jumpers and a screwdriver and it started and purred like a happy kitty. Looks like a new ign. switch and a drive belt and the roller will be a runner. Back on topic and back in the tree this evening.....saw two doe.
