9 pointsRaining all day today and tomorrow so I decided to build a large treadle grindstone. I have stone and hardware and been wanting to do this for a while. It’s going to be outside so it has to be pressure treated material. Will include a wheel so I can move it by myself and perhaps also a tractor seat so I can sit while grinding my axes.

7 pointsMaybe you should start with a 22 horse Kohler EB... let’s not get carried away, we all know Trina’s busy!
-
7 pointsI got this response from the previous owner of the stove yesterday and thought I would share it with you folks... Eric and Trina ,thank you for the link to the Toro forum website ( which I have had bookmarked for a couple of years now I think ) . I will be following your progress with great interest. Here is a picture of your parlor stove in it's previous location at the camp one Christmas a number of years ago. If you would like to post it on your forum feel free to do so. I am very glad to see that Trina will breath new life in into such a wonderful " work of art " . Thanks again, Bob

6 pointsIm using my 414 if we ever get any snow . Had the blade 3 years and havent pushed a flake!

6 pointsExcellent work. In the old days they were multi purpose. You could sharpen items while waiting for the daughter's potential suitor to arrive and when that happened you just kept grinding away. Staring at the suitor. Not. Saying. A. Word. ...... Kept your tools razor sharp and inappropriate humans at bay. Looking forward to seeing more progress pics.

4 pointsI gained two hard to find tractors, but they were found by others generous enough to share intel

4 pointsI tried mine several Times behind different horses. it works behind the 212 i have and behind the 656 i found it Works best on dry leafs to collect. best experiences i have with about 5cm grassheight before when leaf begin falling. If ground is too uneven or some higher spots or slots are in the Lawn, than i have troubles at collecting on this Spots. fresh fallen leafes on a dry day works perfect, but fills the Sweeper very Fast. So if she like the rides, that could be an good option. I don‘t have here acorns arround, but we have hazelnuts. They can not very effective collected with a Standart sweeper, with an added weight and adjusted brush it works. Not perfect, but better than collect it by Hands. I found it is easier to mulch before you use the Lawnsweeper to collect it directly after - on a dry Day. When i ride crosswise over the Lawn with the sweeper, it helps me too, to collect more than just in Oneway maeandering. The weight and the Driven speed are also important things for good results. also a simple adjustment on the Sweeper will help to improve the result quick. On my Horse i found best setting was second Gear and half throttle while collecting. That Pict was made before i started collecting the Leafs. my Sweeper is 1,20m wide and weights about 35 Kilo‘s what is definitively for a deeper brush setup too lightweighted. about double the Weight will work fine. Maybe the biggest disadvantage on mulching and directly collecting in one Job is the mulched Leafs are much heavier, because they are more compressed in the sweeper so maybe a dump the Sweeper could be too heavy for her - simply collecting goes well, but it must be dumped very often.

4 pointsI have a Hatz 10hp air cooled diesel in one of my tractors. IT IS AWESOME !!! I have yet to find enough work to make it pull on the governor. On light duty it takes about 10.5 hrs to burn up 1.5gal of fuel. Pulling a 10" Brinly plow it takes about 6hrs to burn up 1.5 gal of fuel. If you are building a puller check your local club rules, some clubs don't allow diesels.

4 pointsI've been looking for a deck for my 310. I can restore my 42SD, but the sheet metal is a bit rough. Last night at around 9:30, I opened the FaceBook marketplace and searched Wheel Horse like I have for months. This came up: WHOA, HOLD UP KIDS! WHAT HAVE WE HERE? How much does he want? Probably $2,500 and my firstborn.... I immediately replied, "I'll take it." He replied in a short while and by 10PM we agreed to meet the next morning, I ended up driving almost 2 hours this morning to get it, met the seller at 9:45AM, and took out my cash and gave it to him. I already knew I HAD to take it. A few more pics when I got it home: A quick hosing off and soft bristle brush. A quick scrape of the underside with a 1" putty knife: Then a washout, in the rain. Not bad, not bad at all. A few minor issues: One gauge wheel is shot and is wearing through the bracket. Not a big deal. New wheels/axles and worst case, weld up the groove and grind it flat. Also, it looks like there is a small crack in the deck below the left rear Attach-Matic bracket. You can see a slight depression in the steel where it looks like the bracket took a pretty good hit from the top. If so, I'm going to weld that up too. So two minor issues. Nothing else. Almost new mule drive included. New belts. All spindles mint. All pulley's/hardware/springs...almost 0 rust. So for the most part, I got a brand new 42" RD. She's gonna get pampered. Don't ask how much I paid. I feel guilty.

4 pointsThe chain in the lower pic is what should be hitting the road. Those "barbs" are intended to dig into the roadway and pull you along.
-
3 pointsI have to thank @oldiron613 Rob for the tip, he was originally looking to see if I could pick it up for him but decided to let me take a crack at it. It’s day 2 of a 4 day estate sale, everything marked 25% off. I made an offer that they would likely have said no to, but they accepted without even a counter offer! It comes with a one bottom plow and if they can find it a snow plow. I feel like we should start a guessing game like the whatisits threads! A few of you know what it is already because I can’t keep my yap shut! 1) It was advertised as a “kid’s tractor” so the kids can plow snow with it.

3 pointsHuller 11 12 2020.MOVHuller running around 1000 rpm. Driveshaft consists of female Bolens with quick connect to Wheel Horse Tiller front (3/4 x 7/8)-both splined 1" 15T. Excellent fit & function! Rough in 24 x 24 opening for expanded metal, (save cut out) 5" hole saw, then diagonal expansion for exit hole. 26 x 26 #13 expanded metal (3/4) end support, bolts protruding View of chute end, expanded metal Barrel on cradle, downhill pitch to exit hole drive end is centered but optical illusion! Chute end rough in with flap, another illusion! (really need to take proper pictures!) chute end reinforced and painted chute template, (use the 24 x 24 cut out) chute *obviously no press brake. Almost forgot! The axle. 48" x 1" galv. pipe. Lined with 1" steel 36" long, leaving room for 12" x 1" 15T Spline with two clevis pins. Washers welded both sides for nice flats securing the paddles or flappers. Old tire, combine belt, whatever's handy. Each paddles 6" x 14" , I used eight, planning a counter-clockwise pull or drag

3 pointsIf you were to "choke" while idling does the "searching" smooth out? If so like Lynmoor said pull the top and clean as much as you can using spray carb/jet cleaner in every orifice (make sure to shield your eyes) reassemble try again ... May need to do this several times... Not a fan of Seafoam as much i like Berrymans B12 for fuel system cleaning i personally use about 1/4 or can per tank... And actual small engine shop back home swore by Marvel Mystery Oil in the crankcase and fuel tank for Kohlers and my dad used it religiously without much issue.

3 pointsI can't find it either!! I fixed the cover that had rips and tears, basically glueing a filler piece of vinyl behind it, and filling it with liquid black vinyl repair. It was fairly simple and was able to save the original cover. I then added new marine foam and reassembled it

3 pointsKinda makes me wanna dump a 2000 hp diesel inna Horse.....

3 pointsI'm late to this party. Who's selling who? I'll take dibs on @pullstart. He seems handy to have around. Bringin me Busch lattes, cookin hot dishes, plenty of tools I can borrow and never return. Hmmm what else? Mow my lawn? Oh you betcha, paint em green.
-
3 pointsthis is what Rob said about it... ”I've decided to take a pass and be your cheerleader! Get that baby bought. From what I can tell, it's an early 1956. Besides the lack of a Schnacke recoil, it seems to have all the correct and really expensive hard to find parts in tact including no-name hood, cast steering wheel, belt guard, down to the original Schnuit front tires. I'm thinking that Clinton engine is original and looks to have the 1955 style air cleaner which is neat to see in itself.”

3 pointsBull roar Madge ....you prolly had an eye on it long before Kev knew about it! Get it home and some decent pics see if we can nail down the year. And get that chain off the front .... that kinda nonsense is for stuff that Sylvia passes along. Who knows maybe it was a converted cable steer???
-
3 pointsI agree with Kevin. They are good but not perfect. Best on a nice flat lawn. I have one and sometimes go round the green when I've mowed. The ground is rather uneven in places and the brush can lift the wheels when it hits a high spot.

3 pointsNice! What’s up with that tractor train?!?!? Don’t tell me the SL&WHN RR has some local competition...!

3 pointsI love mine. Traction, unless they load up with mud, is really good. I think I paid even less but they are only 23s. They seem to run wide tho and wished I would have got them in 8.50. Think they would have fit in the furrow better and since this is a dedicated plow mule..... If you are thinking 23 10.5s Jack maybe we can work out a swap? These would be good tires for the xi.

3 pointsI currently cut more with SD decks (42 and 48") - but used a RD deck exclusively for decades and still use a 312 with 42" RD deck fairly often RD deck will deliver better results when front is set slightly higher than rear - grass clippings will be better dispersed and there will be less 'clumping' RD deck can be more affected by tall grass than SD deck ; cut grass more often if possible and/or keep mower / blade height higher to eliminate or reduce 'clumping'

3 pointsWent back into the hydraulics and swapped out the long hose that runs to the bottom of the rear axle, switched it over to a newer style hard line instead of the rubber hose. It routes completely different (under the lift/hydraulic mechanisms instead of over the top, really cleans things up in the center console area. installed the hood hinges, put a small section of heat shrink on the stops for the hood hinges so there isn't any metal on metal contact, installed the pto lever and installed a foam pad where it contacts the stop, and installed the front closure panel with the relays on it.

3 pointsI was drafted in 1968 went in the Air Force. After boot camp I was trained on the F100 super saber. Sent to Vietnam retrained to the F-4 Phantom. I was a Crew Chief. Loved the service and all the friends I made. Lost a lot of good friends while there. They gave all. I would do it again if I could. I am 72years young. Still in contact with a lot of the men and women I got to know. My service years was from 1968-1972. I give all of my thoughts to the people we lost and also all the ones that came home. Have a great day and be proud of what we did. Best of all remember the ones that did not make it home. God bless all and the United States of America. Love to all Daddy Don

3 pointsI suppose I should update as both of my 520s now have 100% all 4 corners Lawn Trac R1 AG tires 16x7.50-8 fronts and 23x10.50-12 rears and shown me from my experiences to be very good mowing grass, plowing gardens, grading dirt/stone driveways, and (no chains needed) snow removal. BTW for all you guys that can't get them big enough for the rear @Achto@ebinmaine @WHX24 https://www.ebay.com/itm/392067872752.

2 pointsMy Grampa had one that was predominantly made out of metal instead of wood. Same basic design as far as not being very wide. His had a stone that was probably 15 or 18 inches diameter and at least 3" wide. The full weight of that stone was probably set 20% from one end and then the operator sat at the other so there was bunches and bunches of downward ballast. It was pedal driven and I do remember needing to be conscious about pushing down on the pedals without moving your body back and forth on the seat.
